GH2 was also my introduction to the series. Took until Rock Band before I really enjoyed one of the plastic instrument games though.

I would go on to sink wayyyy too much money into Rock Band thanks to all the DLC but Guitar Hero 2 is my favorite, looking back. As much as I enjoyed the guitar stuff (hard) and the vocals(expert), my favorite experience with this genre was playing the Guitar Hero 2 demo that allowed you to use the controller (fucking god tier).

Something about a licensed-music-driven rhythm game using all of the shoulder buttons and triggers was exactly what I wanted. As much fun as the plastic guitars were, I was nowhere near as good with a fake guitar as I was with the Xbox controller. Click-fucking-clack. Damn. I really want to play that demo again right now.

Did you play rock band blitz? It was literally a game for using controllers and had a pretty dope soundtrack

SmackDown! Vs. RAW 2006 was awesome. I played that game so freaking much and it never got old.

Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. Got this one for Christmas and had even more fun playing it than THUG 1 or 2.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. If I remember correctly, this was my introduction to GTA. A lot of fun memories started with this game for me.

Star Wars Battlefront 2. One of the greatest video games of all time, no matter what anyone says.

Driver 3. Basically just a ripoff of GTA, but I had it first. And I didn't care that it was a ripoff, it was tons of fun.

I did and if I recall it just wasn't the same. Not bad by any means, but whatever GH2 had going on with their controller support was PERFECTION.

They added powerups and shit which were kinda goofy. I only bought it to export the tunes into rock band and got bored of the game itself pretty quick

Re: WC's Fave Five Video Games of 2005!!

Got some fifties and a lil stray.

    Tied - 9th
    Call of Duty 2 - 50 (CocksyMitch #1)

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction - 50 (Coxatron #2, The Natural #5)

Shadow of the Colossus - 50 (Fuji Vice #1)

We Love Katamari - 50 (Lucha Long Name #1)

    8th
    Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves - 60 (Zero #1, Dook Gulak #5)

Of all the surprises this list has thrown at me, Shadow only getting one vote is pretty high up there. Great game, albeit one I've only played once and haven't revisited enough to include it on my own. Sly 3 was something I never picked up since I loved the first game but wasn't super into the adjustments they made to the second. Maybe I'll get around to it sometime. Katamari games are awesome, too.

Wow, nobody else voting for Shadow is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen here. That’s legit one of the best games ever.

It's a great game that only missed my list because I figured literally everyone else would vote for it.

I haven't played Shadow of the Colossus but I have watched Reign Over Me.

Dropped CoD 2 to make room for Bond and because that game on veteran made me want to blow up a bus load of nuns.

Re: WC's Fave Five Video Games of 2005!!

One more update and we'll knock out our fave five tomorrow:

    Tied - 7th
007: From Russia with Love - 70 (CocksyMitch #2, Fuji Vice #4, Brock Landers #5)

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - 70 (Panther #2, Zero #3)

    Jade Empire - 70 (Jiggy #1, Brock Landers #4)

    _

    6th
Star Wars: Battlefront II - 80 (Jimmy King #2, Panther #3, Jiggy #5)

Good batch right here. Wanted badly to find a place for Jade Empire but just couldn't do it so I'm glad it placed well. Dawn of Sorrow is my favorite Castlevania game ever and must-play for all DS owners. And long before that abortion that EA released this year, Pandemic dropped one of the all time great Star Wars games, an absolute blast of a shooter that I buried my nose in for many an hour. And hey a neato Bond game.

I remember that my buddy and I would play Battlefront 2 for hours, and we just had a blast every time. I think I played From Russia With Love but I'm not sure, probably did because I played most Bond games but I just don't remember anything from it.

I only ever played the demo of Shadow Of Colossus, it was great no doubt and I've always wanted to go back to it.

Just barely didn't have room for Jade Empire, but what a fun game that was. The only other similar game was that Bruce Lee garbage from however long ago so I was really happy to enjoy this.

Mercenaries was awesome, surprised it didn't get more love. Also surprised it's not still around in some form or another.

Mercs 2 was utter trash and I think that killed the franchise

The first game was nutty fun. I'd buy the dick off a remaster

Re: WC's Fave Five Video Games of 2005!!

Here's a couple of gems just outside the ol' top three.

    5th
    MVP Baseball 2005 - 100 (Coxatron #1, PeepShow #1)

    _

    4th
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - 120 (The Natural #1, Brock Landers #2, PeepShow #3)

Like ESPN NFL 2K5 before it, MVP Baseball goes out with a bang in its final installment. And speaking of going out with a bang, the close-out of the original Splinter Cell trilogy places quite well itself with a passionate couple of voters. Not much a fan of either of these but I'm told neither series has ever been the same, so here's some pretty swell swan songs.

Numba three en route in just a bit.
