    The Great Goals Thread

We need one of these on the forum.

Just post great goals and discuss because this is the best sport in the world and there's nothing better than a great goal.

    Bale is quite quick.

A goal so good that last year when BBC was doing their Euro coverage they held a vote for 2nd best goal in Euros history because everyone knew this was the best.

    The Ronaldinho collection:

One of my favourite goals of all time for how unique it is for the footwork.

crossbar bounce is the cherry on the cake.

Before Bale's mad run in El Classico, there was this.

Genius idea. I try this now and again in PES.

    touch son.

Not a big fan of the sport but I remember seeing this goal on TV when it happened. Considered one of the best in MLS history.

That Cisse goal is a nailer.

Guess I'll just chip in with my personal favourites vs Them.

    In Europe:

And no Scot is forgetting this one (Peter Martin's commentary for this was unbelievable, sadly not in the vid):

And I really liked Lewandowski's 5th against Wolfsburg... but here's the full 9 minutes of madness anyway cause it really is quite something altogether. Skip to 9.14 for fifth goal though.

    Re: The Great Goals Thread

The Ronaldinho goal vs Chelsea is so good. One of my favourites.

Never seen the Eric Hassli goal till now. Some finish. Cisse-esque (mostly because he could try it 1000x more and never do it again).

Giggs vs Arsenal is a classic. Context, skill, finish, an iconic celebration - everything about it is legendary.

Messi vs Bilbao in the cup final. Messi at his absolute best.

Beckham vs Greece also a classic. You could fill this whole thread with Beckham freekicks. Just a thing of beauty.

    Larsson <3

Speaking of Larsson, here's the headers collection:

Nothing beats a good diving header

This next one is legit in the top 10 goals ever scored. Never seen anything like it at that level, and sparked the end of Spain's dominance on world football.

    Suarez in 2014 was unstoppable

It was pretty cool was the Whitecaps were having an absolutely terrible season so that goal gave fans something to talk about

I was a massive Zidane fan and I remember just sitting in awe watching this. The fact it happened at Hampden too made it extra special.

Not even 15 seconds on the pitch... Lars Ricken with the decisive 3-1 in the CL final of '97

The man, the myth. Good ol' Batigol.

And the wonder goal from Bergkamp can't be forgotten

    Re: The Great Goals Thread

I was there for the Bergkamp goal. What people don't see on replays that makes it even better is that was a counter attack that Bergkamp started from our area.

    Ricken's goal is class.

holy fuck what a goal that is

I'm very partial to overheads. Me and my mates still call every bicy a 'job' because of this one right here

Just gunna leave the prerequisite Shearer 1 and 2

    SHEAAAAAARERRRRRR

Shearer Gallowgate End vs Schmeichel yes please.

I feel like Wayne Rooney has arguably the best collection of wonder goals out of any player

Debut Goal vs Arsenal to beat the streak - Rooney, instant control, fancies his changes OHHHH BRILLIANT GOAL REMEMBER THE NAME WAYNE ROONEY

Should call this the Rooney chip from now on, tries this about once a game.

    Watch the workrate here

    Classic halfway line belter

This one's arguably my favourite ever goal. We'd literally just taken the lead and then the kid goes and does this

    The overhead vs City

shoutout to del alli as well

    Re: The Great Goals Thread

Disagree about Rooney having the best collection of goals ever. Especially since his most famous goal he shinned it. Le Tissier, Messi, Ibra all come to mind.

Ibra has a ridiculous collection of goals.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDr71KzFy9c

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeXKyj2ggwM

Just for a couple, but there's loads loads loads more.

But most beautiful goal scorer of all time? Roberto Baggio.

    Dances around an entire team
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGUeRn5c3Tc

    And again ...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NKgSpfeSuA

    The touch ...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RbgPScElG0

Best thing about Baggio is his finishing is never simple. He would always take it around the keeper, chip it over him, etc basically always taking the harder, more beautiful option

    Re: The Great Goals Thread

Speaking of players that don't score bad goals. Give yourself 4 minutes to watch this. These aren't cherry-picked best-of goals. This is literally all his goals for Newcastle.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfyty0_9Iyo

The two against Spurs in the same game are just mental.

Good goal, got around so many people. Incredible dribbling.

There is no commentary but Martin Tyler was correct, it was a world class goal.
