Raw RAW - April, Week 1

    RAW – April, Week 1

Before the RAW opening video plays we head backstage to General Manager Kurt Angle’s office and he announced that tonight in our main event we will see four of the greatest RAW superstars in action for the chance to take on Brock Lesnar at Payback for the Universal Championship. It will be Braun Strowman vs. Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor in a Fatal 4 Way Match!

The RAW video plays and fireworks go off inside the arena before we are greeted by a surprise appearance of none other than Brock Lesnar alongside his Advocate, Paul Heyman,

Brock Lesnar comes out from the back and Paul Heyman does his usual introductions before going through every single person in the main event match. He says each and every one of them is a threat. Braun Strowman has been running riot over RAW, Roman Reigns has been near unstoppable, Finn Balor was the first Universal Champion and Samoa Joe has made the biggest impact of anyone in recent memory since making his debut. Heyman says the Beast will be watching the main event intently but when all is said and done none of them will survive Suplex City at Payback. And that’s because Brock Lesnar is the reigning, defending, undisputed Universal Champion!

The Intercontinental Championship is not on the line in this match. This is Neville’s first match after being removed from the Cruiserweight division and he puts up one hell of a fight. It looks like he has Miz beaten until Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel distract the Briton allowing The Miz to hit a Skull Crushing Finale for the one, two three. This appears to have been an official face turn for Neville and it would seem these two might be set for some sort of rivalry on the way to Payback.

    Winner: The Miz

We head backstage where Braun Strowman is interviewed by Renee Young. The Monster Among Men says he listened to what Brock Lesnar had to say and he isn’t scared of the Beast. Strowman guarantees a win tonight in the main event Fatal 4 Way match and says the reign of Lesnar is coming to an end at WWE Payback. Strowman says it is time he won some championship gold to make the rest of the roster even more afraid of the Monster Among Men.

RAW Women’s Champion is shown throughout this match watching backstage on a TV monitor clearly eager to find out who the winner would be. Alexa has no clear number one contender for her title at Payback yet. Summer Rae put in a surprisingly good showing but in the end she was forced to tap out by Sasha Banks after Mickie James had been dumped out of the ring by the Boss. Sasha builds some nice momentum and might want to stake her claim to get a shot at the RAW Women’s Championship at the next RAW exclusive pay per view.

    Winner: Sasha Banks

Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring first only to be ambushed by Cesaro! The Swiss Superman tosses the Architect into the steel steps before putting him in the ring as the bell is rung and we are officially underway. Neither Dean Ambrose or Sheamus are getting involved as they meet in singles action later tonight. Cesaro is on top throughout the match after doing the damage to Rollins in the early going. Seth does get back into it at the end though only for Cesaro to catch him off the top rope with a brutal backbreaker showing off his awesome strength. Cesaro would then clothesline Rollins over the top rope and to the outside and from there it was not good for Seth. Cesaro would deliver the Neutraliser on the entrance ramp before returning to the ring to pick up a countout victory over the member of The Shield.

    Winner: Cesaro via countout

We go backstage where Finn Balor is with Renee Young and he is asked about facing Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns in tonight’s main event to earn the chance to face Brock Lesnar at WWE Payback. Balor says he was the first Universal Championship and he still hasn’t received his one-on-one shot at the title since he returned from injury. Balor isn’t worried though as tonight he will earn a shot and go on to face Lesnar at Payback in front of Balor Club.

Bray Wyatt gets his usual response with the thousands of fireflies across the arena greeting his arrival. Unfortunately for the Eater of Worlds things don’t exactly go to plan this evening as Big Show is his opponent and really dominates him throughout. Wyatt gets very little offense in on the Giant and is laid to rest with a brutal WMD knockout punch. Emphatic win for Big Show but what does this mean for Bray Wyatt who has been in a slump in recent times?

    Winner: Big Show

No surprise that Asuka made quick work of Alicia Fox here tonight on RAW. Asuka delivered a huge spinning heel kick which nearly took her head off before putting Fox into the Asuka Lock and making her tap out almost immediately. Watch out the rest of the RAW Women’s division, the Empress of Tomorrow has arrived!

    Winner: Asuka

Renee Young is in the interview pit again and this time she is with the Samoan Submission Machine, Samoa Joe ahead of tonight’s main event. Joe snatches the microphone from Young as she scurries away and intensely looks into the camera. He warns Lesnar that he needs to watch what he will do tonight because it is just a taster of what is coming the way of the Beast at Payback when Samoa Joe becomes Universal Champion. Joe is sweating profusely as the screen fades and we go to a commercial break.

This match gets started and is back and forth from the off until Cesaro makes his way down to the ring and distracts Dean Ambrose giving Sheamus the advantage. There is no sign of Seth Rollins after Cesaro’s brutal attack on him earlier in the evening. Cesaro interferes at every turn and even puts a steel chair in the ring but the referee is able to get rid of the weapon before one half of the RAW Tag Team Champions can use it on Ambrose. Sheamus delivers a Brogue Kick off a distraction but Ambrose gets his foot on the ropes to avoid a defeat. Ambrose then delivers a Suicide Dive to Cesaro on the outside before ducking another Brogue Kick attempt in the ring from Sheamus. On the rebound Ambrose connects with Dirty Deeds for an against all odds victory. Ambrose wisely retreats quickly up the ramp to avoid the wrath of The Bar after securing the win.

    Winner: Dean Ambrose

Just moment away from the main event we are with Roman Reigns and Renee Young backstage as the member of The Shield gets his usual mixed reaction from the WWE Universe. Reigns says tonight the Big Dog will earn his shot at the Universal Championship and then at Payback he proves that it is now his yard when he burns Suplex City to the ground and becomes the new Universal Champion. And of course he ends with the two words he always uses. Believe that!

*Apologies for the entrance sound not coming through, think it was a problem on Twitch as in previous tests I had done it was fine. Anyway, enjoy!*

    Winner: Samoa Joe

The Samoan Submission Machine wins an exciting RAW main event and will go on to face Brock Lesnar at WWE Payback. Samoa Joe celebrates as this episode of RAW goes off the air.

    -The Miz def. Neville
-Sasha Banks def. Mickie James & Summer Rae in a Triple Threat Match
-Cesaro def. Seth Rollins via countout
    -Big Show def. Bray Wyatt
    -Asuka def. Alicia Fox
    -Dean Ambrose def. Sheamus
-Samoa Joe def. Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns & Finn Balor in a Fatal 4 Way Match

I loved the video touch Order. Will we see those for just major matches or will you start to incorporate more into a single show, going forward?

Re: WWE 2K18: A Twisted Universe

    RAW Review:

Big announcement to start the night off right!

Good opening match. Glad to see Neville out of the cruiserweight division. Smart booking here to extend this into a feud.

Pretty straight forward interview by Braun.

Nice to see Summer featured. The Boss looked good in this and I expect her and Bliss will tangle soon.

Good acknowledgment of Sheamus and Dean not being there because they also have a match, nice little touch. Good win here for a vicious looking Cesaro.

Another fairly straight forward interview. Balor mentioning never recieving his rematch is a good little history refresher.

Bold move here booking both Bray and Show the way you did. Everyone seems to overly love Bray so I always expect him to get thrusted right back into a big push. I enjoy seeing Show be so dominant though. Very curious how this plays out.

Asuka doing what Asuka does and I didn't expect anything differently. It'll be cool to see who is the first female you decide to give her a real challenge.

Here we go, an interview showing some personality. Joe gives off his usual intensity and so far who I am really pulling for.

Wish you had of reversed Seth and Dean and had Dean take the loss. I like what youre doing with The Bar already and want to see them continue being violent and have success.

    Typical Roman.

Very interesting concept using videos and in game play footage. I dig it if it's used like this for your main events and maybe PPVs. Glad to see Joe get the win and I am big time rooting for him to dethrone Lesnar.

Overall, decent show. All the matches did what they were supposed to and I have a rough idea of where Raw is heading. One complaint is that you had no other interviews/segments/footage for anything other than the Fatal Fourway competitors. Look forward to the next show!

Re: WWE 2K18: A Twisted Universe

I never really got into New Vision all that much, not to any fault of the actual content, but because I was so far behind when joining the forum. So I figured I’d start from scratch here…

Fatal Four Way main event for tonight’s main event with the winner getting a shot at Lesnar sounds damn good to me. Looking forward to reading.

A pretty standard promo from Heyman really. He always does such a good job of building Lesnar’s opponents, and then making Lesnar sound that much better. He seemed to do this here, no real complaints, however it could have been a little more interesting if we heard from at least one of the guys in tonight’s main event.

Whilst I dislike random turns without real reason, Neville as a face is probably a good thing with how much of a majority of wrestling fans wanted to support him during his title reign anyway. A good match here to get him in the swing of the mid card as a face. No issues with the result as well, as he doesn’t lose face with Miz winning due to interference.

Braun’s interview was okay, simple main event hype really.

A nice win for Sasha Banks to potentially push her towards a title shot. Mickie is solid as ever and it’s cool to see Summer Rae again. A pretty good match here.

Cesaro/Seth was a match I was really looking forward to, however I didn’t expect what we saw. The attack from Cesaro leading to the count out is a pretty good way to build heat in theory. My only issue is that both men are in the tag team scene so I’m surprised Ambrose didn’t try and save Seth from the attack.

Finn promo was pretty much the same as Braun’s, simple hype for the main event.

Surprised to see Big Show squash Bray so easily. I’m curious as to whether you’re straight just not a fan of Bray, or whether this slump you mentioned will lead to some sort of angle. Big Show is always handy to kind of just have around, so I guess a win for him isn’t too bad.

Asuka just needs to keep winning so no issues there. The correct booking decision is made… The only issue is that Alicia Fox graphic… Terrible. Maybe my eyes are just bad but I could barely read it.

I like the Samoa Joe intensity in his interview. Outside of that, just more solid main event hype.

A little surprised Ambrose got the win here but it definitely puts Rollins/Ambrose right in line for a title shot at Payback. I enjoyed playing off the earlier angle with Cesaro showing up, but Rollins being nowhere to be seen. Nice stuff all around here.

Reigns segment basically fits the same mould as the rest for tonight’s main event. No issues, it did its job.

Main event was really fun... I enjoyed the video dynamic more for the simple fact that I had no idea what was going to happen. Cool to see Joe get the win though and looking forward to seeing Joe/Lesnar.

Honestly, whilst there was nothing glaringly wrong with this show, not completely sure how I felt about it. Tag team scene and main event were fine enough, but besides random matches happening, it didn’t feel like a lot really happening. I don’t know if that’s a universe mode restriction or just the first show, but there just seemed there was only two real angle advancements in a long show. Still, this is a new concept for me and you, looking forward to reading more.

Re: WWE 2K18: A Twisted Universe

My only concern with the 2K18 videos'll be rather difficult, perhaps I'm wrong, to get the perfect match finish you want, especially in multi-man matches. Usually when you're writing finishes you can end it perfectly and how you want to tell the story, with 2K18, you're somewhat at the mercy of weird AI mechanics. For example, this Raw Main Event, Samoa Joe got the pinfall by basically doing a move, to breakup Reign's pin attempt and he got the 3 count while Reigns was getting too his feet. If that was seen on an actual Raw, people would be so confused. Hopefully I explained that well, I do like the concept, but I just think that in multi-man matches it can be chaotic to get the perfect finish you're after.

Re: WWE 2K18: A Twisted Universe

Alright!! Something new!! Plus, I've spent plenty of hours playing through my own WWE 2K universe so this has me interested.

Ok, before I get to the show, I'm always interested in how people are doing NXT, for obvious reasons, and I couldn't help but notice that your NXT women's division is a solid four people. Might need to bring in some CAWS of the newer women to build that up depending on what you have planned.

    Aight, time for the show.

Good opening promo by Heyman and Lesnar, seemed to be going in an odd direction with Heyman praising everyone, but brought it all together by saying it didn't matter who won, they'd all go down.

Miz Neville would probably be a dope match, I like both of them..not sure how I feel about Neville going face.

Strowman!! Hoping him or Joe leave the show as number one contender.

Sasha is definitely the clear contender for the belt, eliminating Mickie from the match and making Summer tap.

Ha....getting jumped on the entrance ramp is a nice touch, as it does happen quite a bit on the game.

Bray getting decisively beaten by the big show is strange to me. Back in the day Big show, sure, but not now. I'll be watching both of these two to see if it hopefully leads to something bigger.

Asuka it should be (even though I've always been a Alicia Fox fan).

Dean Sheamus seemed pretty damn good, with Dean having to battle two men to get the win!

Entertaining main event. The video footage has me curious if (because you played as Strowman) if you always intended for Joe to win and threw the end of the match, or if you just went with the winner that happened.

Decent first show, with the game element and video footage of the main event adding an extra layer. Looking forward to seeing more, as the build to Payback continues!
