Re: WWE Survivor Series 2017 Discussion

Pre-Show: I only watched Owens and Zayn vs Breezango, match was fine. Kevin Owens has gone from Universal Champion to the pre-show in less than a year.

Main Show: The opening 6 man tag match was fun. We all knew that The Shield would win but The New Day did a great job, holding their own. Shield winning was great, such a fun opener.

Women's elimination match was badly booked. Becky going out first was a stupid decision. Why would they have Becky and Bayley go out so early when you have people like Alicia Fox, Naomi and Tamina in there. Becky should have been the one to last the longest out of the Smackdown divas. Predicted Asuka to be the sole survivor and it was the right booking decision to have her survive.

Miz vs Corbin was ok, not a match I was interested in. Once Raw went 2-0 up, you knew Corbin would win to get Smackdown on the board. Really hope Bobby Roode ends Corbin’s US title reign.

Enjoyed the tag team match. The Usos are on fire. Tag team of the year. I was really tired so I fell asleep after this match. Watched the rest of the show in the morning and avoided spoilers. Charlotte vs Bliss was fine. Once Charlotte won, I knew that Raw would win the next two matches.

Match of the night goes to Brock Lesnar vs AJ Styles. Right from the start, this match had a big fight feel to it. Very entertaining match. Really enjoyed this, wish it was 5-7 mins longer but still glad that they had enough time to put on a great match. AJ looked good in defeat, glad that Jinder Mahal didn’t interfere. This is my fave Brock singles match since he returned back in 2012. Slightly enjoyed this more than his match against Reigns at WM31. Lesnar sold well especially the calf crusher. Wish AJ got the Styles clash in. Would like to see a rematch next year with AJ Styles coming out on top.

Main Event - Terribly booked match for so many reasons. Started off well but went downhill after the first elimination. Way to put over new talent. Nakamura and Roode the first two eliminated from team Smackdown and Joe the first man out for Raw. Nakamura looked fine and got a good amount of time working the match but he deserved to be in there longer. Rumours are that they’re doing Styles vs Nakamura at WM so having Nakamura as the first man out in the elimination match is a strange booking decision. Wouldn't it have been so much better if they just swapped Roode and Nakamura for Shane and Cena being the first two eliminated? Cena looked like he didn’t care. Orton the Survivor Series specialist, didn’t know he was the youngest member of his team. What annoyed me the most was Shane outlasted all of his team mates, what a joke.

Having Owens and Zayn on the pre-show was bad enough but to see Shane making them look like chumps in the main event was terrible. The Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn run in is squashed by Super Shane. They beat Shane down and a few seconds later a tired Shane is up and beating them with a chair. They had no impact on causing Shane's elimination. Also Kurt Angle had Shane in the ankle lock for a minute and Super Shane doesn’t tap out. HHH saved his ass.

Very annoying that HHH got the pin to win the match. He shouldn’t have survived. Braun deserved to get the winning pinfall. Jason Jordan cut a promo during the show and hoped that HHH wasn’t one of the survivors. They could have done the Angle elimination spot during the middle of the match. That’s when Jordan should have come out to cause HHH getting eliminated. Then have Balor or Joe surviving with Strowman. So glad Braun dropped HHH after that awful ending of that match. Overall an enjoyable show but the elimination matches sucked.

Re: WWE Survivor Series 2017 Discussion

New Day/Shield was a good match but it left me wondering what was missing that would have turned it into a great match. I do hope we get to see these teams go at it again in the future. Obviously a predictable outcome but some nice spots in the match too, especially the double Midnight Hour and the Super Triple Powerbomb.

Womens SS Match was ok. The order of the eliminations was a bit weird early on, and I didn't like how they had Nia counted out. Cool moment with Nia & Tamina in the ring together though...and who doesn't want to see a proper Asuka/Natalya feud? Raw won as expected with Asuka on the team.

Corbin/Miz was actually better than I expected, with the result I didn't expect haha. We know Corbin is well liked so maybe this is the start of a decent build for him? Who knows...Miz was as awesome as ever so nothing to add there.

Bar/Usos was very good indeed. Crowd were a little dead at times, probably down to two heel teams going at it so can't really complain about it. Usos are probably the best duo in the company at the moment so rightly won the match.

Bliss/Charlotte was ok. Possibly a little two paced at times, but can't really complain on the whole.

AJ/Lesnar was superb. Lesnars best match in many years and they actually allowed AJ to better him at times. This match is worth of Main Eventing WM, sod Roman Reigns vs Lesnar again, give us AJ vs Lesnar again!

Mens SS Match...eurgh how horrific was the booking in this one? I really don't get it...yes you made Strowman strong...but you also allowed Trips to remain as a survivor...and Shane was the last man standing for SD...there's really no need for it whatsoever. It's annoying me even thinking about looking back at the match eurgh you spoiled a good evening with this one WWE.
I have a plan so cunning......

Christ alive that main event. When 4 of the last 5 are Angle, Orton, Shane and Trips and people wonder why no new stars are being made.

AJ/Brock ruled, Shield/New Day and Bar/Usos were good. Everything else is skippable, and the whole event felt like there was nothing really at stake to get invested in. My minor joys:

    - Tamina and Nia continuing my favourite wrestling tradition with the Samoan headbutt battle
    - Orton being one of the last members of his Survivor Series team yet again. Also,
    - Orton's new haircut making him look like mirror universe Cena

Re: WWE Survivor Series 2017 Discussion

I don't want to go super in depth on the show. Main sucked, Brock/AJ ruled, Shield/New Day great, and Bar/Usos very good although I think I owe it a rewatch because I was getting sleepy watching that tag live.

The main event unfortunately came down to what I was fearing, the focus was all on the attitude era guys. Such a missed opportunity to give someone like Joe, Nakamura or Balor a shot in the arm, and great to see Jason Jordan's big moment in the match, just took his exclusion like a loser. How dumb do KO and Zayn look for running in late in the match to attack Shane, and Shane manages to chase them off - they weren't the reason Team SD lost, Triple H was because it's all about Triple fucking H. Triple H needs to fuck off with being a wrestler. Seriously. The Sting match sucked, the Reigns match sucked, the Rollins match sucked - you're fucking done in the ring m8. He has kudos with the fans for how he books and promotes NXT, use that to stroke your ego and leave the main event roster alone because you're preventing your NXT signings from turning into stars. I cannot believe we're staring down the barrel of a huge slice of next year's Wrestlemania card being dedicated to a pedestrian lame ass match between Triple H and Kurt Angle in the year of our lord 2018. Look at how slow Kurt was with Cena, that was so sad to watch; if he was a dog, the vet would put him down there and then. The best part of the match was Finn Balor and his interactions and expressions on the apron, to deny this man has improved at showing his charisma or personality is dumb. He was all in on Team Raw. idk man this match, it left a bad taste in my mouth from an otherwise really good show.

Brock/AJ was in and around the WWE MOTY ballpark. Amazing that AJ got to survive longer than Braun and Joe did against Brock, that's some rub for the guy. I swear AJ Styles is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and this WWE run just produces banger after banger. Since his debut at the '16 Rumble whoever he wrestles (bar KO) he seems to have their best match in yonks. This was easily my favourite Brock match since Mania 31.

Re: WWE Survivor Series 2017 Discussion

AJ v Brock was easily match of the night for me, after being so apprehensive after the first few minutes that this was going to be a terrible one sided affair, seeing AJ get so much offence in and hurt Brock with the calf crusher was brilliant. They quite rightly kept the WWE Champ looking strong in defeat, just please God don't have him drop it back to Jinder.

Womens 5v5 was decent, pissed Becky was out first though. If the rumoured Horsewomen WWE v MMA is a go for Mania they really need to rebuild the credibility of Becky and Bayley. Good showing for Asuka at the end, kept her looking awesome.

I've always been ok with Corbin for some reason, I've never been one to give him much crap but the wrong man won here. I know it was booked in the larger picture of Raw v SmakcDown but Miz has been so good lately.

SHIELD v New Day was fun, happy with both teams.

Usos V Bar was also great, anything with Cesaro is always up there for me.

Bliss v Charlotte was better than I thought it would be, could have been a total mis-match but it was the right amount of offence from Bliss and the right winner.

Main Event, I thought I had fallen through a wormhole and ended up back in the late 90s again is all I can say about that match.

Re: WWE Survivor Series 2017 Discussion

Really enjoyed the show, I thought overall it was very good.

Brock/AJ was immense and aside from the Corbin/Miz match which didn't have my interest- everything else was good or very good.

The ME had some questionable booking and the ending was kinda lame- but I'm not sure why people are that shocked with who was in there. I think it does kinda' highlight the issues around "new stars" but the fact is, the older guys still get the bigger pop's and are what people want to see for the majority. I mean, we all could have seen JJ in there, okay, so he's a little dull but the kid is a massive talent and that could have been a real moment for him to break out and perform but pretty much everyone, including me, was happy to see Triple H over him and that's on us, I think.

I like Jordan and don't understand to the extent of the Boo's and such- but if we keep rejecting all these new guys and get bored or impatient of them because it's "forced" as the fans like to say- well, the need is going to always be to reply on the names and older stars to sell PPv's and create the moments. Just my two cents.

As stated, I enjoyed the show. I liked that they did have some interactions that I hoped would go down in the ME as well. Shame about the ending.

Average show was average. Nothing lived up to it's potential except for AJ/Lesnar, which was excellent, and Miz/Corbin which wasn't great but was far better than it had any right being. Total one match show though. Even most of the good stuff wasn't as good as it could've been had the build been more focused.

If by one match show you mean "one match I could have done without" then I'm with you.

Re: WWE Survivor Series 2017 Discussion

This was the opportunity to build towards the future. A chance for the WWE to say that their devolpment grounds of NXT will pave the way for the next generation of superstars. Every side story could have been implemented here to get us down to a final four of Joe/Balor and Roode/Nakamura.

I would have had Strowman eliminate Cena AND Orton first. Build The Monster Among Men and maybe set up Orton or Cena v Strowman down the line.

5 on 3 you say... here comes Kane!!! Kane returns and Strowman gets counted out fighting him to the back. Strowman doesn’t need to win this match with how over he is at the moment.

Next up is Jason Jordan’s moment... he comes down and costs Triple H his place in the match. Payback for what happened on RAW and maybe the starting point of a slow turn. Angle gets in the ring and confronts him only for Triple H to recover and hit Angle with a Pedigree.... and Shane gobbles up the cover.

Finally Shane looks happy that it’s 3 on 2 for Smackdown but then Owens/Zayn show up and actually do something rather than run away!!! Shane eliminated... the story continues.

And now we are two on two with history aplenty between two of Raw’s and Smackdown’s best going at it. No interference but I’d have Joe go, then Roode before Balor overcomes Nakamura. Raw wins... revenge for Smackdown starting the war and Balor takes a big run and should head towards the Rumble against Lesnar...

... but this is the WWE we are talking about!!!
