    Smackdown – 9/6/16

    Pinnacle Bank Arena

    Lincoln, NE

WWE “Then, Now, Forever” opening video plays.
We cut to a recap of last week’s Smackdown

    **Recap of Last Week’s Smackdown**

The recap starts with Rusev, Lana and Sheamus in Alex Maverick and Shane McMahon’s office.

    Maverick

You think you deserve a shot at the Intercontinental Championship?! Then prove it to us tonight in a match. If you win, we’ll give you a title opportunity.

    Lana

Fine. Rusev will crush his competition and show that you should just give him the championship.

    Maverick

    Your opponent…

We cut to see AJ Styles “too sweet” Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows on his way to the ring.

Is the World Heavyweight Champion, AJ Styles!

    Ranallo

After the disrespect Kevin Owens shows his friend Christian last week, you can bet Styles is going to take some of his frustration out tonight.

    Graves

Rusev wants the Intercontinental Title shot that he was promised and deserves.

We see clips from the match between Styles and Rusev. We see Styles hit an enzuguiri to Rusev on the apron and then springboard with the Phenomenal Forearm for the win.

    Ranallo

A big win for AJ Styles, showing yet again why he’s the World Heavyweight Champion.

    Graves

How can you be happy? Now Rusev won’t get his previously promised and deserved title shot. This is a travesty.

Sheamus comes out and attacks Styles.

    Ranallo

    This is uncalled for!

    Graves

Sheamus is letting out his frustration of being screwed last week in the World Tag Team Title Tournament.

Gallows and Anderson run down to the ring and start brawling with Sheamus and Rusev.

    Ranallo

And here comes Gallows and Anderson to help out their friend… helping out their fellow Club member!

Anderson tosses Rusev out of the ring and goes to check on Styles. Kevin Owens comes out and attacks Anderson.

    Graves

Owens is evening up the score to make it three on three.

Rusev helps Sheamus beat down Gallows. Rusev holds Gallows back and Sheamus hits him with a BROGUE KICK!
Rusev lets out a war cry and delivers a JUMPING SIDE KICK to the face of Anderson!

    Graves

Sheamus and Rusev taking out Anderson and Gallows, making a point that they should be in the World Tag Team Title tournament.

Owens then tells Sheamus and Rusev to lift up Styles. Owens gets in Styles’ face and yells at him “You’re looking at the next World Champ!” Rusev and Sheamus then toss Styles at Owens, who nails him with a POP-UP POWERBOMB!

    Ranallo

And Owens with the direct message sent to the champion!

Owens, Rusev and Sheamus with Lana by their side stand tall over the fallen Club members.

    Graves

Kevin Owens just let AJ Styles know that his days as the World Heavyweight Champion are numbered.

    **End Smackdown Recap**

“Back From The Dead” by Skillet plays as the Smackdown opening video plays. Pyro goes off in the arena and the fans are all on their feet cheering and going crazy. We cut to the announce table at ringside with Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves.

    Ranallo

Welcome everyone to Smackdown! We are coming to you live from Lincoln, NE and what a night we have for you.

    Graves

That’s right. After what happened at the end of the show last week, our main event tonight will be all three members of The Club taking on Rusev, Sheamus and the #1 Contender for the World Title, Kevin Owens in a six man tag team match.

    Ranallo

And we will also see a special interview conducted by my broadcast partner with the two women competing in two weeks for the Womens World Championship.

    Graves

I sat down with the champion Sasha Banks and the challenger Becky Lynch and I assure you, you don’t want to miss it.

“Lucha Lucha” plays and out comes Sin Cara and Kalisto taunting with the crowd as they chant “Lucha!”

    Ranallo

And we kick things off with one of the two final first round matches of the tag team tournament.

    Hamilton

The following tag team contest is scheduled for one fall and is a first round match in the World Tag Team Championship Tournament. Introducing first, at a combined weight of 368 pounds, Kalisto & Sin Cara, the Lucha Dragons.

    Ranallo

And here’s an exciting team that you a lot about Corey.

    Graves

Yes I do. Former NXT Tag Team Champions and Kalisto a former United States Champion. This team knows how to win titles and have been very good since coming to the main roster but this could be the big break they needed.

    Ranallo

A very fast tag team. You never know what to expect from them as they look to make it past the first round here tonight.

“Elite” plays and out comes Chad Gable and Jason Jordan to a loud crowd cheering for them.

    Hamilton

And their opponents, at a combined weight of 447 pounds, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, American Alpha.

    Ranallo

But they have a tough challenge here tonight in Jason Jordan and Chad Gable. We saw them make their Smackdown debut last week to qualify for this tournament.

    Graves

I don’t think anyone, including myself was expecting American Alpha last week but what an incredible addition to the Smackdown tag team division.

    Ranallo

It’s the battle of two former NXT Tag Team Champions looking to move one step closer to becoming World Tag Team Champions.

First Round of the World Tag Team Championship Tournament

The Lucha Dragons vs. American Alpha

The match is back and forth the entire time with each team getting an even amount of offense. Towards the end, Kalisto gets tagged in and springboards in onto Gable. Kalisto uses his speed and hits Gable with a handspring off the ropes into a jumping side kick. Kalisto runs off the ropes and connects with a Spike-ranna! Kalisto goes for the cover…1…2… Jordan comes in and breaks up the count. Sin Cara springboards off the ropes and hits Jordan with a dropkick, sending him rolling to the outside. Sin Cara measures Jordan, runs off the ropes and dives to the outside hitting him with a Suicide Dive. In the ring, Gable grabs Kalisto from behind and goes for a German suplex, but Kalisto lands on his feet. Kalisto runs at Gable and connects with a hurricanrana into the pin…1…2…. Gable kicks out. Kalisto gets Gable into his corner and tags in Sin Cara who is back on the apron. Sin Cara goes to the top rope as Kalisto goes for Solita Del Sol, but Gable shoves Kalisto into the corner, causing Sin Cara to lose his balance. Gable grabs Kalisto from behind and nails him with a German Suplex, causing Kalisto to roll out of the ring and to the floor. Gable makes his way to his corner and tags in Jordan who is back up on the apron. Jordan gets in and sees Sin Cara getting off the top rope and getting into the ring in the corner. Jordan runs at Sin Cara and nails him with a Should Thrust. Jordan tosses Sin Cara into his corner, takes off his straps and nails Sin Cara with another running Shoulder Thrust in the corner. Jordan tags in Gable. Jordan lifts Sin Cara up and American Alpha nail GRAND AMPLITUDE with Gable bridging for the pin…1…2…3. American Alpha win!

    Winners: American Alpha

    Hamilton

Here are your winners, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, American Alpha!

    Ranallo

With the win, American Alpha moves onto the semi-finals of the tournament. Another week, another win. And Corey, Jordan and Gable continue to impress.

    Graves

As I have said before, they could be the dark horses to win the whole thing. I think after tonight, a lot more people are believing in Jason Jordan and Chad Gable.

Byron Saxton gets into the ring to interview American Alpha as they continue to celebrate.

    Saxton

Alright Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, in just your second match here on Smackdown, you two win and will now move onto the semi-finals of the World Tag Team Championship tournament. You two have to be excited about this.

    Jordan

You know Byron; we have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Even down in NXT, we were waiting… chomping at the bit to come up to the main roster and show what we can do.

    Gable

We both have been in tournaments in the past when we were in amateur wrestling. And while we were singles competitors at that time, we always were fighting for a team, whether it was our colleges or our country.

    Jordan

But we’ve gelled faster than anyone could have imagined. That’s why we tore up NXT and became NXT Tag Team Champions. Each match we have, we just get better and smoother as a team.

    Saxton

Well next week we know you will face Enzo Amore and Big Cass as your semi-finals opponents. Any words for them?

    Gable

All we have to say to them is that they better be Ready…

    Gable looks over at Jordan.

    Jordan

    Willing…

    Gable waits a second.

    Gable

    And Gable!

Gable and Jordan continue to celebrate as the crowd cheers them.

    Ranallo

Ready they will be, but we’ll see next week who will be willing and “Gable” enough to move onto the finals of the tournament.

    Graves

Well I will be solidly in American Alpha’s corner next week as they face that bozo Enzo Amore and Big Cass.

    Ranallo

Three teams have moved onto the semi-finals. We will find out the fourth and final team later on tonight.

We cut backstage to the locker room to see AJ Styles putting on his boots. The crowd cheers. He looks up and stands up as we see Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson joining him. The crowd cheers The Club as they “too sweet” each other.

    Anderson

    You boys ready for tonight?

    Styles

After last week, heck yeah I’m ready! Hey, thanks for having my back again last week boys.

    Gallows

Of course. You’re a “good brother.”

    Anderson

    That he is.

    Styles

Well you guys are “good brothers” for helping me out.

    Anderson

We’re The Club… you mess with one member; you mess with the whole Club.

    Gallows

See last week we fell a little short. But this week, when we get our hands on Rusev, Sheamus, and Kevin Owens…

    Anderson cuts in.

    Anderson

    Definitely not “good brothers.”

    Gallows

    No-ski.

Gallows pauses and resets his original thought.

    They won’t be so lucky.

    Anderson

They got the jump on us last week, but we will show them why we were the hottest free agent signings earlier this year.

    Styles

I mean we’ve got the future World Tag Team Champions…

Styles pats both Anderson and Gallows on the shoulder.

And the current World Heavyweight Champion right here.

Styles picks up his title belt.

    Gallows

And all they’ll ever be champions of is whining and complaining.

    Anderson

That doesn’t get you to the top… winning titles and proving you’re great like we’ve done in Japan and will do here is what gets you to the top.

    Styles

Well boys… let’s go show them what made The Club famous around the world!

    Anderson

    Oh it’s going to be…

Anderson holds up the “too sweet sign”

    Too sweet!

Styles and Gallows “too sweet” Anderson and each other as we fade out.

    Ranallo

It’s The Club taking on Rusev, Sheamus and Kevin Owens in our main event, tonight!

    **Commercial Break**

We come back from commercial break. “Chachalala” is playing and Fandango is already in the ring with a microphone in his hand and gyrating his hips.

    Hamilton

The follow contest is scheduled for one fall. Already in the ring, weighing in at 244 pounds, Fandango.

    Fandango lifts the microphone up.

    Fandango

    Shhhh… shh!

    The crowd boos him.

Last week, I tried to find a dance partner to join me in the ultimate battle, but my choice wasn’t the right fit.
Do not worry though… my search for the perfect dance partner will continue. But as for tonight…

Fandango starts gyrating his hips again.

    I’m going solo!

“Worlds Apart” plays and the crowd goes crazy as Sami Zayn makes his way out onto the stage.

    Hamilton

And his opponent, from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, weighing in at 205 pounds, Sami Zayn.

    Ranallo

Fandango better focus on his solo dance tonight because here comes highly motivated Sami Zayn. Last week on Smackdown, Sami Zayn called out Bray Wyatt and challenged him to a fight. Wyatt showed up and tried to sneak attack him, but Sami Zayn was ready with the assist of a steel chair in hand, taking out Bray Wyatt.

    Graves

I’m not sure you can say he “took him out.” Bray Wyatt was laughing after those chair shots, almost like he was amused by them. Sami Zayn is boking the bear one too many times and will... not may… will regret it.

    Ranallo

And it was made official… in two weeks at Backlash, Sami Zayn will go one-on-one finally with Bray Wyatt.

    Fandango vs. Sami Zayn

Fandango starts off with a quick attack on Zayn taking him down in the corner. Fandango punches and stomps Zayn into the corner. The crowd boos as Fandango backs away from the corner and dances at the crowd. Fandango measures Zayn and runs at him in the corner, but Zayn gets up, catches him and hits him with an Exploder Suplex in the corner. Zayn goes to the opposite corner as he waits for Fandango to get up. Zayn runs at Fandango and nails him with the HELLUVA KICK! Fandango falls to the mat and Zayn goes for the quick cover…1…2…3. Zayn wins!

    Winner: Sami Zayn

    Hamilton

Here is your winner, Sami Zayn!

    Ranallo

Sami Zayn makes quick work of the dancing Fandango.

    Graves

I’m sure Sami saw Bray Wyatt in there but the problem is that Fandango is not Bray Wyatt. Bray Wyatt is manipulative, he’s calculating, he’s dangerous and most important of all he’s unpredictable.

Just then, the Wyatt interruption video plays. We see a dark room filled with eerie smoke on the titantron screen. Zayn turns and stares at it. The smoke starts to clear and we see Bray Wyatt walk into frame as the crowd boos.

    Wyatt

Sami… you think last week you got one over on me.

    Wyatt smirks.

You took your might sword and gave it your best swing.

    Wyatt holds his arms out.

    But I’m still standing.

    Wyatt does a sinister laugh.

And now in two weeks at Backlash, we will do battle as per your request.

    Wyatt pauses.

I’m sure this has been something you’ve been dreaming about since that first night I took you out. But the reality is at Backlash it won’t be a dream…

Wyatt looks right at the screen with a dead look in his eyes.

It’ll be a NIGHTMARE! Because what you and everyone else doesn’t understand is that I am no mere mortal.

    Wyatt points at himself.

I am invincible! I am a God! And you have no idea what I have in stored for you.

Wyatt paces a bit before stopping.

You are nothing more to me than a stepping stone in my path towards the great power. And once I take you out, it won’t matter if it’s the man who believes he’s phenomenal or the prize fighter…

    Wyatt pauses.

Because I will take them both out and take my prize proving that I’m a phenomenon. And then all of you will finally listen as I show you the path to salvation!

Wyatt lifts his head up and holds his arms out as he laughs. Wyatt lowers his head and looks dead ahead as he gets very serious quickly.

    RUN!

The Wyatt interruption video plays again and Wyatt is gone from the screen. Zayn stands in the ring unable how to react to that but looking a bit worried and angry at the same time. We cut backstage to see Byron Saxton ready to interview someone.

    Saxton

Please welcome my guests at this time, The Dudley Boyz.

The Dudleys walk onto screen as the crowd can be heard booing. The Dudleys don’t look too happy.

Bubba, D-Von, last week on Smackdown we saw you lose to Enzo and Cass in the first round match of the World Tag Team Tournament, a match you requested…

    Bubba interrupts.

    Bubba

    What’s your point Byron?

    Saxton

Well I guess my point is what are you two thinking after being so confident going into last week and coming out on the losing end?

D-Von has an angry look on his face and stares directly at Saxton.

    D-Von

Did you just invite us here to insult us? To put us down? Do you know who we are?!

D-Von pauses as he gets more intense.

We are the 9 time WWE World Tag Team Champions! We are the team that has won the Tag Team Titles all around the world in every company we’ve been in! We are the damn Dudley Boyz and you’ll show us some respect!

Saxton seems taken back and a bit scared of D-Von. Bubba holds D-Von back and calms him down.

    Bubba

Like my brother said, we are the damn Dudley Boyz… the greatest tag team on the planet… period!

    Bubba pauses.

Enzo and Cass think they got one over on us? They think they’re better than us? Well we’ll show them and everyone else just who in the hell we are!

    D-Von leans in towards Saxton.

    D-Von

    Oh my brother… TESTIFY!

The Dudleys walk away frustrated. We cut back to ringside. “The Truth Reigns” plays and out comes Roman Reigns to a sea of boos.

    Hamilton

Please welcome to the ring, Roman Reigns.

    Ranallo

We just saw the frustrated Dudley Boys challenging Enzo & Cass, but here comes another man who has shown his frustration as of late.

    Graves

And he has every right to be. Roman Reigns is one of if not the biggest star we have here on Smackdown. And what happens? Our General Manager and Commissioner just toss him aside not giving him the opportunities he deserves.

    Ranallo

Well last week, Roman Reigns took things into his own hands when he interrupted a match between Finn Balor and Apollo Crews, attacking both men, no doubt making a statement.

Reigns gets into the ring and grabs a microphone as the crowd continues to boo him.

    Reigns

Ever since SummerSlam, I haven’t gotten the respect that I deserve around here.

    Reigns pauses.

Before this “new management” I was seen and treated exactly as I should’ve been… as “The Guy”… as the top star in the WWE. Now…

    Reigns pauses disgusted.

Now I’m treated like everyone else?

    Reigns pauses confused.

    What?! Have you seen me?

The crowd starts chanting “you suck!” at Reigns.

I don’t suck! I lead The Shield to greatness. I main evented WrestleMania… twice. And I’ve won the World Championship.

    The crowd boos.

And yet guys like Finn Balor and Apollo Crews are getting chances to earn a title opportunity?

    The crowd cheers.

Cheer them all you want, but last week I showed exactly why they don’t deserve a title opportunity before me!

Reigns pauses and turns towards the stage.

And I’m not leaving this ring until I get the recognition that I deserve from our little “new management.”

Reigns stands there looking impatient waiting as the crowd boos him. Just then “Smack Down” by Thousand Foot Krutch plays. The crowd cheers as Alex Maverick comes out onto the stage.

    Maverick

First off, I don’t care how things were done before I got here. You may have gotten “special treatment” before but that’s not how things work here on my Smackdown!

    The crowd cheers.

    Everyone deserves an opportunity.

Maverick pauses and points to Reigns.

    And that includes you.

Reigns demeanor changes and seems interested in what Maverick has to say.

You have been impressive Roman since the draft and I believe you’ve showed that you do deserve a title opportunity.

The crowd boos as Reigns nods his head in agreement.

In fact, we do still have a vacant Intercontinental Championship…

    Reigns starts smirking.

    Reigns

Alright now that’s what I’m talking about. Maybe I had you all wrong. I guess you do see the star I am if you’re going to give me the Intercontinental Championsh…

    Maverick cuts him off.

    Maverick

Woah, woah woah! I never said anything about “giving” you the title.

Reigns is confused and mouths “what?!”

No. The Intercontinental Championship has always been the workhorse title so if you want it, you’re going to have to earn it.

    Reigns is getting angry.

So at Backlash, we will have a match to determine the NEW Intercontinental Champion. It will be Roman Reigns…

    The crowd boos.

    Versus Apollo Crews…

    The crowd cheers.

    Versus Finn Balor!

    The crowd cheers.

    In a Triple Threat match!

Reigns gets angrier at the announcement of Crews and Balor in the match.

Oh and don’t think I forgot what you did last week.

    Maverick pauses.

You ruined a great match to “make a statement.” So you want to make a statement taking two men out? Well I’ll give you that chance…

    Maverick pauses.

    Right now!

“Let Me Show You How To Rock” plays and out comes Slater Gator onto the ramp as the crowd cheers. Slater, excited, pats Maverick on the back as the team walks down to the ring.

    Graves

I’m not sure if I should be excited about the Intercontinental Championship match just made or upset about the unfair match that Roman Reigns has just been put into now.

    Ranallo

Well when we come back, it will be Roman Reigns vs. Slater Gator in a Handicap match here on Smackdown.

    **Commercial Break**

    Handicap Match

    Roman Reigns vs. Slater Gator

O’Neil goes toe to toe with a cocky Reigns and takes advantage right away with his strikes and power. He tags Slater in and Slater keeps the momentum going, making sure Reigns stays on the ground. Slater tags O’Neil back in, who continues to keep their momentum going. O’Neil goes for a back body drop and Reigns reverses it with a kick to O’Neil. Reigns then boots O’Neil in the face, sending him back into his own corner. Slater tags himself in. He gets into the ring and charges at Reigns, but Reigns hits him with an uppercut stunning Slater and then a clothesline to knock him down. Reigns then takes control of the match as he takes his time beating up on Slater. Reigns is clearly frustrated as he gets dangerously close to the 5 count while punching Slater a few times. Reigns delivers a few power moves to Slater like a Powerslam and a Samoan Drop. Reigns goes for a cover after the Samoan Drop…1…2…Slater kicks out. Reigns looks over at O’Neil with a smirk on his face, knowing O’Neil is concerned for his partner. Reigns yells at Slater to stay down. He sets him up for a Powerbomb, but Slater holds on for his life to Reigns’ legs to avoid the move. Reigns clubs Slater in the back and gives up on the move. Reigns instead lifts Slater on his shoulders and taunts to the crowd. Slater takes advantage and elbows his way out and off of his shoulders. Reigns turns around and takes a Jumping Back Leg Lariat by Slater. Slater has an opening and crawls towards his corner until he finally tags O’Neil back in. O’Neil comes in taking Reigns down with clotheslines and a powerful running shoulder block. O’Neil hits a few power moves, gaining momentum. O’Neil picks Reigns up, barks, and tosses him for a Fallaway Slam. The cover…1…2…Reigns kicks out. O’Neil starts to lift Reigns up and looks over a Slater to tag him in for a double team, but Reigns nails O’Neil with a LOW BLOW causing the DISQUALIFICATION!

    Winners: Slater Gator (via DQ)

    Hamilton

Here are you winners by disqualification, Slater Gator!

    Ranallo

A low blow by Roman Reigns! Taking the cheap way out of this match.

Reigns looks down at O’Neil hunched over and smirks. Slater gets into the ring and walks over towards his partner to check on him with the referee.

    Graves

It’s not cheap… it’s smart! Reigns was put in an unfair, outnumbered situation here and did what he needed to do.

Reigns is about to leave when Slater stops him and starts yelling at him for what he did to O’Neil. Reigns does seem amused and goes to leave, but Slater grabs his arm. Reigns looks back slowly at Slater angry at that action.

That was a huge mistake by Heath Slater.

Reigns uppercuts Slater, causing him to stumble backwards. Reigns measures Slater and nails him with a huge SPEAR!

    Ranallo

That was completely unnecessary! Reigns spearing Heath Slater for no reason.

Reigns looks down at Slater as the referees tell him to get out of there. Reigns then leaves and starts walking up the ramp.

    Graves

He put his hands on a man the star caliber of Roman Reigns. He needed to teach him a lesson.

    Ranallo

He was standing up for his partner.

    Graves

There’s a fine line between standing up for your partner and making a stupid decision. Heath Slater, no surprise, crossed that line and made a stupid decision. And you can bet Roman Reigns was sending a message to his Backlash opponents Finn Balor and Apollo Crews with that Spear.

We cut backstage to see Finn Balor talking to Neville and Zack Ryder. The crowd can be heard cheering the three men.

    Neville

    It’s a big opportunity tonight.

    Balor

Well no doubt you two deserve it.

    Ryder

Thanks and what about you, Finn? That big announcement earlier by Alex Maverick.

    Balor

Yeah I get a shot at the Intercontinental Championship! I wanted a title shot and now I get a chance to win one of the most prestigious titles in WWE history.

    Balor pauses.

Think of all the Hall of Famers who’ve held that. Macho Man… Shawn Michaels… Bret Hart… all men that I idolized growing up in Ireland.

    Ryder

Take it from a former Intercontinental Champion… you’ll fit right in with those names… You know it!

Just then Apollo Crews walks into frame. He says hi to all three men.

    Neville

Alright well we’re going to go get ready for our match.

    Balor

Alright. Good luck out there guys.

    Neville and Ryder walk away.

    Crews

So… big announcement earlier for both of us.

    Balor

Yeah I was just talking to them about it. It’s very exciting… the Intercontinental Championship.

    Crews

I know! Personally I wish it was just me and you one-on-one for the title…

    Balor

Me too but we’ll take what’s given to us.

    Crews

    Exactly!

    Crews pauses.

Speaking of which… obviously it is every man for himself so I wanted to let you know as much as I respect you…

    Crews stares down Balor.

I won’t hold back when it comes to becoming Intercontinental Champion.

    Balor stares right back.

    Balor

I’d feel disrespected if you didn’t.

They both then smile at each other and shake hands.

    Crews

May the best man win at Backlash.

    Balor

Yes… just we can’t let Roman Reigns win.

    Crews

    Oh of course not.

The two smirk at the remark. Balor is about to walk away when Crews stops him.

Oh and Finn… don’t think I forgot we have to finish our match from last week.
    Balor looks at Crews.
    Balor

    You’re on!

Balor walks away as Crews smirks. The screen fades as we go to commercial.

    **Commercial Break**

We come back from commercial break to ringside. “Rebellion” plays and the Ascension comes out to the crowd booing them.

    Hamilton

The following tag team contest is scheduled for one fall and is a first round match in the World Tag Team Championship Tournament. Introducing first, at a combined weight of 487 pounds, Konnor & Viktor, The Ascension.

    Ranallo

Welcome back to Smackdown as we get set for our final first round match of the World Tag Team Title Tournament. We saw American Alpha advance earlier tonight and The Ascension will look to join them.

    Graves

Let me tell you something Mauro… do not underestimate this team. They were the longest reigning NXT Tag Team Champions for a reason. They have decimated so many tag teams in their path and they look ready to refocus and be that dominating team again.

    Ranallo

Well tonight is the night to do it with a huge opportunity towards the World Tag Team Championships.

“Radio” plays and the crowd cheers as Zack Ryder makes his way out onto the stage.

    Hamilton

Their opponents, first from Long Island, NY, weighing in at 224 pounds, Zack Ryder.

    Ranallo

Put it won’t be an easy task because they will have to get past a newly formed team, including this man, a former WWE Tag Team Champion, Zack Ryder.

    Graves

Zack Ryder should feel lucky to be in this match right now. But the fact is that he and Neville are too new of a team to take down an experienced team in The Ascension.

“Break Orbit” plays and the crowd cheers as Neville makes his way out to the stage through the smoke.

    Hamilton

And his partner, from Newcastle upon Tyne, England, weighing in at 194 pounds, Neville.

    Graves

And don’t even get me started on this cheater. I’ve known Neville for years. I teamed with him in NXT. But him using the exposed turnbuckle on Sheamus two weeks ago disgusted me.

    Ranallo

As always, that’s half the story. In a qualifying match against Sheamus and Rusev, Sheamus had exposed the turnbuckle and Neville sent Sheamus into the exposed steel completely unaware and simply took advantage to advance.

    Graves

I can’t believe the bias journalism from you. Rusev and Sheamus were robbed and should be in this match. I hope The Ascension teaches them a lesson here right now.

First Round of the World Tag Team Championship Tournament

The Ascension vs. Neville & Zack Ryder

The match starts off with Neville and Ryder taking control for the most part. Viktor reverses Ryder and is able to take control of the match for the Ascension. The Ascension keep control for a good portion of the match until Ryder is able to get his foot up in the corner and connects with a dropkick to Konnor to create separation. Ryder crawls to the corner and tag in Neville finally. Neville comes in with a burst of energy as he springboards off the ropes and dropkicks Konnor. He then continues with a flurry of kicks to Konnor ending with a running dropkick to the side of the head. Neville hits him with a Standing Shooting Star Press. The cover…1…2…Viktor breaks it up. Viktor goes to beat on Neville until Ryder comes in and lays in a few forearms backing Viktor up to the ropes. Ryder steps back and clotheslines Viktor over the top rope, taking himself with him as they land on the outside of the ring near the ramp. Ryder gets up but all of a sudden SHEAMUS blasts Ryder from behind! The referee is turned the other way towards the action in the ring and doesn’t see Sheamus. In the ring, Neville hits Konnor with kick to the head and sets him up near the corner laying down. Neville heads to the top rope, but stops when he sees RUSEV make his way out and onto the apron. The referee is yelling at Rusev to get down and out of here as Neville is distracted. This gives Konnor plenty of time to get up and trip Neville so he falls off the top rope and crashes to the mat. Konnor shoves Neville towards the middle of the ring as Viktor gathers himself and gets back into the ring in the opposite corner. Konnor and Viktor run at Neville and hit him with the FALL OF MAN! Konnor goes for the cover…1…2…3. The Ascension win!

    Winners: The Ascension

    Hamilton

Here are your winners, The Ascension!

    Ranallo

The Ascension pick up a huge win, but let’s not glance over the fact that Sheamus and Rusev just screwed Neville and Zack Ryder out of their shot in the tournament.

    Graves

After they cheated in the qualifying match, what goes around comes around.

The Ascension celebrate their win as Sheamus tosses Ryder into the ring. The Ascension step aside and leave the ring as Sheamus and Rusev get in.

And it looks like they may not be done.

Rusev goes over to Neville and starts punching him on the ground as Sheamus does the same to Ryder in the corner.

    Ranallo

Now this is too much. What is this for?

    Graves

Rusev and Sheamus are taking out their frustration on them.

Ryder tries to fight back, but Sheamus knees him in the gut to stop that and then hits him with the Irish Curse Backbreaker.

    Ranallo

    Ryder and Neville are defenseless

Rusev lifts up Ryder as Sheamus pounds his chest. He runs at Ryder and hits him with the BROGUE KICK!

An unnecessary Brogue Kick by Sheamus to Zack Ryder!

Sheamus then grabs Neville and lifts him up. Rusev lets out a war cry and then nails Neville with a running JUMPING SIDE KICK to the face!

And now Rusev joins in with his friend taking out Neville.

Sheamus smacks Rusev on the chest as the two look down at the destruction they just caused. They then roll out of the ring and walk up the ramp as the crowd boos them heavily.

    Graves

Like it or not Mauro, Sheamus and Rusev just told Neville and Zack Ryder that they deserved to be in this tournament and not them.

    Ranallo

That’s just being the ultimate sore losers. There was no need for the interference and certainly no need for the attack afterwards.

    Graves

They were sending a message not only to them but to the whole locker room. Watch out because this is going to be a very dangerous team.

A graphic showing the updated tournament bracket shows on screen.
    Ranallo

Well regardless of how they won, The Ascension do move onto the Semi-Finals of the tournament where they will face The Club’s Anderson and Gallows next week here on Smackdown.

    Graves

Which of the four teams will move onto next week to the finals at Backlash to crown our new World Tag Team Champions?!

We cut backstage to an office where we see Alex Maverick and Shane McMahon

    McMahon

That was a big announcement you made earlier tonight. A Triple Threat match for the Intercontinental Championship… can’t get much bigger than that!

    Maverick

Thanks Shane! I couldn’t think of a better way to crown a new Intercontinental Champion than with those three determined men at our first exclusive pay per view.

    McMahon

Speaking of Backlash, did you hear Bray Wyatt earlier tonight? Are we sure we still want to go through with letting Sami Zayn fight him?

    Maverick

Yes I’m sure. Why? You were on board with it when we made the match. Are you changing your mind?

    McMahon

Well… it’s just hearing him earlier tonight reminded me of how we don’t know what to expect from him. What if we are sending Sami Zayn into something he can’t handle?

    McMahon pauses.

    Or worse?

    Maverick

What so we’re supposed to just sit around and be afraid of him? Not try to take him down a peg?

    McMahon

Maybe facing him head on isn’t the right approach. When I was dealing with the Undertaker…

    Maverick

Look, I get you’re cautious, but trust me… not doing anything is worse.

McMahon looks unsure of Maverick’s statement as Maverick pauses.

And look at two week ago when Sami Zayn gave Wyatt a taste of his own medicine.

    McMahon

But Sami had a steel chair. He won’t have help against Wyatt and who knows what Wyatt will do at Backlash.

    Maverick thinks for a second.

    Maverick

Well then maybe we need to even the odds for Sami.

Maverick smirks and then walks away. McMahon looks confused as we fade to commercial break.

    **Commercial Break**

We come back from commercial at ringside with Ranallo and Graves.

    Ranallo

Welcome back to Smackdown. Well in just two weeks, we will come to you live on the WWE Network with the first Smackdown exclusive pay per view since the brand split, Backlash. And one match we will see is Sasha Banks defending her Womens World Championship against Becky Lynch. Earlier today, my broadcast partner Corey Graves sat down with these two women to discuss this match.

    Graves

Yes I did. I’ll let you know I didn’t pull any punches and these women answered everything head on. You can tell how much passion they have and I have to say after conducting that interview, I know we are in for a hell of a match at Backlash.

    Ranallo

Let’s take a look at that interview now.

We cut to a previously recorded video. We see a room with Sasha Banks sitting with her Womens World Title on the left, Becky Lynch sitting on the right, and Corey Graves sitting in the middle.

    Graves

Welcome to the special interview with the two women who will compete in just two weeks at the first Smackdown exclusive pay per view Backlash for the coveted Womens World Championship. I am joined here by the challenger for the title Becky Lynch…

Graves motions to the right towards Becky.

And the current Womens World Champion, “The Boss” Sasha Banks.

Graves motions to the left towards Sasha.

Ladies, thank you for joining me today in this this sit-down forum. My first question is for you Sasha.

    Graves turns towards Sasha.

Winning the Womens World Championship has obviously been the highlight of your career. But since winning that title, have you felt pressure to prove that your win at SummerSlam wasn’t a fluke?

    Sasha

My win at SummerSlam wasn’t a fluke, ok? People can say that all they want but I proved at SummerSlam that I deserve this championship. You don’t just look at one night, you look at a person’s whole career and since I’ve gotten to the main roster and even down in NXT I proved why I am “The Boss” and why I am currently your Womens World Champion. No one can take that moment away from me. But I know that now comes the hard part… keeping this title especially against the stiff competition we have here on Smackdown. But I promise you at Backlash, I will prove SummerSlam wasn’t a fluke when I walk out with this championship around my waist.

    Graves

Do you feel like there is an animosity in the locker room towards you since winning the title?

    Sasha

I wouldn’t say animosity. Like I was saying, we have such a talented roster of women here on Smackdown. The competition level is at an all-time high. Everyone is chopping at the bit for a shot at my title, as they should be. If you’re not here to be the Womens World Champion, then why are you here?

    Graves turns towards Becky.

    Graves

Speaking of that, Becky two weeks ago on Smackdown you became the #1 Contender for the Womens World Championship. Do you feel that you actually deserve this title shot when there are others just as deserving or even more so say like the former champion Charlotte?

Becky seems a bit annoyed by the question.

    Becky

First off, two weeks ago I defeated Charlotte one-on-one clean in the middle of the ring to become #1 contender, so I don’t want to hear that she’s more deserving. I busted my arse for years to make it to this point. I wrestled all around the world and have proven myself to be the top notch competitor that I am today. As much as you and Charlotte like to bring herself up, this isn’t about Ric Flair’s daughter… this is about me, Sasha and that Womens World Championship.

    Graves

Ok let’s keep it on you Becky. We’ve seen you two face off before one on one down in NXT for the NXT Womens Championship. On that night, Becky you lost the match. What’s to say that won’t happen again at Backlash?

    Becky

The past doesn’t dictate the future. That was a long time ago. And yes, that night Sasha got the best of me. No doubt about that. But I think she’d even agree that that match could’ve gone either way. We left our all in that ring. I look back at that night and don’t think of a disappointing loss… I think of the night that I really came into my own as a competitor. The night the fans sang along to my theme song as I left the ring, showing me the ultimate respect… letting me know that they knew how hard I fought. That night made the Becky Lynch you see before you. And since then, I’ve been better and better. But I know Sasha has been as well. So at Backlash, it will be a repeat of that match, but with one major difference... this time I’m the one who’ll be walking out as champion.

    Graves

You two along with Charlotte and Bayley called yourselves the Four Horsewomen down in NXT. You two have teamed together down in NXT and even here on the main roster.

    Graves turns towards Sasha.

Are we going to see two friends having a friendly competition or does that all get thrown out the window come Backlash?

    Sasha

Just like Becky was saying, we both know how good the other one is and have mutual respect for each other. But that’s where it stops. This isn’t going to be a match between best friends or some friendly competition. This is going to be a battle. I will not take it easy on Becky and I’m sure Becky won’t take it easy on me, nor would I want her to. Come Backlash, you will see two women giving their all to prove that they are the best and deserve to be called Womens World Champion. Nothing less.

    Graves turns towards Becky.

    Graves

Going back to the Four Horsewomen, Becky you were the only one of the four to never have won the NXT Womens Championship. Alongside that, the two women you came up here with in Sasha and Charlotte have both won Womens Championships on the main roster. Simply put, are you the bust of the group?

    Becky

Bust? Let me tell you something… just because I haven’t won a championship here yet doesn’t mean I’m a bust. Would you call Roddy Piper a bust for never winning the WWE World Title? What about Ricky Steamboat? The list goes on and on of Hall Of Famers who never won a World Title. Now with that said, just like those men did, I am craving the World Title. I want it so badly. The drive and determination to accomplish that goal oozes through my veins. So you better believe that I want to become champion and I will not stop until I am because I know it’s my destiny.

    Graves

Final remarks from both of you women. Becky, we’ll start with you.

    Becky looks right at Sasha.

    Becky

Sasha, at Backlash I know I’m in for the fight of my life, but I’m more than prepared for it. I’ve never been more ready for a match in my entire life. In two weeks, I prove all of the doubters wrong when I walk out the NEW Womens World Champion.

    Graves turns towards Sasha.

    Graves

    Sasha.

    Sasha looks right at Becky.

    Sasha

Becky, I won’t take anything away from you. You are a tough competitor and I know I’m in for a real fight at Backlash. But if you think I’m ready to give this title up, you’re mistaken. This Womens World Championship is staying right where it is… around my waist.

    Graves

    Thank you ladies.

    We cut back to ringside.

    Ranallo

Wow! Both Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch seemed as focused as ever for Backlash.

    Graves

I thought going in that I was going to hear about this being a friendly competition and how much they like each other, but I’ll tell you Mauro, you could feel the tension and just how important this match is to both women.

    Ranallo

I know I can’t wait to see that match in two weeks!

“Recognition” plays and out comes Charlotte and Dana Brooke to a sea of boos from the crowd.

    Hamilton

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Charlotte and Dana Brooke.

    Ranallo

Well here comes two people who probably aren’t looking forward to that match at Backlash.

    Graves

No they aren’t. Take it from me, the Queen is not happy about being left out of this match and not getting her deserved rematch.

    Ranallo

I’m sure Charlotte just saw that interview like the rest of us and she couldn’t have been pleased about it, especially when Becky Lynch dismissed her.

Charlotte and Dana get into the ring and don’t look too happy. They both grab microphones.

    Charlotte

    What did we just watch?!

Charlotte motions towards the titantron screen as she has a disgusted look on her face.

I mean seriously… what was that trash?

    The crowd boos her loudly.

Aside from the great journalism of Corey Graves, there was nothing redeemable about that.

Charlotte talks and acts in a mocking way, mimicking Sasha and Becky.

Oh I worked hard and deserve a shot. Oh it wasn’t a fluke at SummerSlam. I deserve this… I deserve that…

    Charlotte makes a disgusted face.

What a loud of crap! First off, Sasha can say whatever she wants, but SummerSlam was nothing but a fluke. She beats me one time…

    Charlotte holds up one finger.

ONE TIME and she thinks she’s better than me? That it erases the past where I dominated her and the rest of the womens division.

Charlotte pauses as the crowd boos her.

If I got my rematch against her… like I should have… I would’ve definitively beat her just like I have every other time.

Charlotte pauses as the crowd continues to boo her.

Oh but no… she’s defending her title against Becky Lynch. But what has Becky done to deserve a shot over me?

Charlotte again talks in a mocking way.

Oh but she worked hard through adversity and never gave up...

Charlotte gets a disgusted look on her face again.

Please… she may talk like John Cena but she’s nothing more than a cute little side act that’ll go nowhere in this business.

    Dana steps up.

    Dana

And how about the way she just dismissed you when you got brought up? Like you were nobody.

Charlotte is outraged by that as well.

This woman should never be dismissed. She is the Queen of WWE! She is the rightful Womens Champion! She…

Just then “Amazing (Remix)” plays and out comes Naomi. The crowd cheers as they are glad someone came out to shut Charlotte and Dana up. Charlotte and Dana don’t look pleased as they look over at Naomi on the stage.

    Dana

What are you doing out here?! No one invited you out here.

    Naomi

What am I doing? I’m saving all these people from your boring whining and complaining… that’s what I’m doing.

The crowd cheers as Dana gets angrier.

    Dana

    How dare you…

Charlotte stops Dana and tells her she’s got this.

    Charlotte

This doesn’t concern you Naomi. This is for the girls who really matter and well… you haven’t been relevant in… ever.

Charlotte turns to Dana and the two laugh as the crowd boos.

    Naomi

I’m sick of you Charlotte claiming you’re the only one that deserves a title shot. You had your shot at SummerSlam and lost to Sasha Banks. You had a chance at another title shot and you lost to Becky Lynch.

Charlotte is getting angrier with each word Naomi says.

Smackdown is the land of opportunity, and as far as I can tell, you’ve had yours. It’s now time for someone else to get theirs.

    The crowd cheers.

    Charlotte

    Who? Someone like you?

Charlotte and Dana scoff at that idea.

Please. You’re not even in my league. You’re nothing more than a flashy entrance. I don’t feel the glow, but I smell the stench of your career stinking.

    Charlotte and Dana start laughing.

    Naomi

How about you prove it then… RIGHT NOW!

Naomi throws the microphone down and starts to walk towards the ring and Charlotte is yelling at her to get back. Just then “Smack Down” by Thousand Foot Krutch plays and out comes Alex Maverick onto the stage. Naomi stops halfway down the ramp.

    Maverick

Charlotte, you want to run your mouth about how you’re the best…

    Maverick looks over at Naomi.

And Naomi, you want to take advantage of the land of opportunity?

    Maverick waves to the back.

Then let’s get a referee out here and have a match NOW!

Naomi smirks as Charlotte is outraged by the decision.

    Graves

How dare out General Manager do this to the Queen! She wasn’t expecting a match.

    Ranallo

Well prepared or not, the match is happening. It’s Charlotte vs. Naomi when we return to Smackdown.

    **Commercial Break**

    Charlotte vs. Naomi

Naomi out of the gate takes control with her athleticism and a big dropkick. Charlotte seems caught off guard as she clearly underestimated Naomi, thinking it was going to be an easy match. Naomi keeps control for a bit. She looks to go off the top rope but Dana distracts her by faking getting on the apron, allowing Charlotte to toss Naomi off the top rope and to the mat. Charlotte keeps control and slows the pace down. Charlotte works on Naomi’s back with things like knees to the back and backbreakers. Charlotte goes for the Figure 8, but Naomi is close to the ropes and holds on. Charlotte tries pulling Naomi away but her grip is tight. Charlotte stomps on her gut to make her let go and pulls her to the middle of the ring. Charlotte goes to lock in the submission but Naomi kicks Charlotte off. Naomi works her way back up, holding her back. Charlotte runs at Naomi for a big boot, but Naomi ducks it and connects with a few forearms to Charlotte. Naomi takes control, picking up the pace with fast kicks and athletic moves, catching Charlotte off guard. Naomi lifts Charlotte up and slams her down to the mat in a sit-out slam. Naomi hooks the leg…1…2…Charlotte kicks out. Naomi gets up and pulls Charlotte towards the nearby corner. Naomi grabs her back for a second, but seems to shake it off. Naomi goes for a Split Leg Moonsault, but Charlotte gets her knees up. Naomi clutches at her mid-section and falls to her knees in the middle of the ring. Charlotte runs at Naomi and hits her with NATURAL SELECTION! The cover…1…2…3. Charlotte wins!

    Winner: Charlotte

    Hamilton

    Here is your winner, Charlotte!

    Graves

And just like that, Charlotte shows once again why she is the Queen of the WWE.

    Ranallo

Take nothing away from Naomi though. She had a hard fought match that could’ve gone either way.

    Graves

What are you talking about Mauro? Of course the Queen was going to win. She proved that Naomi is nothing compared to her.

    Ranallo

I think we were watching different matches.

    Graves

Looks like it. You may want to get your eyes checked so you can fully appreciate Charlotte’s greatness.

    Ranallo

Well I just got word that next week here on Smackdown, the two women who will battle at Backlash for the Womens World Championship will team up to take on Charlotte and her protégé Dana Brooke.

    Graves

After the tension I witnessed in that interview, I don’t know how Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch are going to work together, especially with their match coming up.

We cut backstage to see Rusev and Sheamus in the locker room pumped up.

    Sheamus

    Now that felt good!

    Rusev

That’ll teach those cheaters not to mess with us!

    Sheamus

We told them and the whole world not to mess with us. And tonight, we showed them why. If we were going to be robbed of being in that match then there was no way we were going to allow Neville and Zack Ryder to get an opportunity they don’t deserve.

Owens walks into the locker room.

    Sheamus

    Kevin! How’s it going fella?!

    Owens

You two seem very cheery… I’m guessing that has to do with what you did earlier.

    Rusev

We CRUSHED Neville and Zack Ryder and showed them how pathetic they are, just like we will to The Cub tonight.

    Owens

Good… That’s comforting to hear. As much as I like a good beat down on Neville and Ryder, I need to know you two are focused on The Club tonight.

    Sheamus

Don’t worry fella… they’re no longer a distraction. They’re in our rear-view mirror. We’re looking forward towards proving that we’re the best team on Smackdown when we take out The Club again tonight.

    Owens

That’s what I want to hear. You two can focus on the bald twins Gallows and Anderson while I take out that soccer mom, overrated disgrace of a champion, AJ Styles.

Owens pauses and looks at each Sheamus and Rusev.

    You boys ready?

    Rusev

    Let’s go end The Club!

Rusev, Sheamus and Owens get hyped up and leave the locker room as we fade out.

    Ranallo

It’s Rusev, Sheamus and Kevin Owens taking on The Club next here on Smackdown.

    **Commercial Break**

As we come back from commercial break, “Stick To Your Guns” by Sick Puppies is playing with the Fury album cover on screen.

    Graves

Welcome back to Smackdown. We’d like to give a special thanks to Sick Puppies for their song “Stick To Your Guns” the official theme for Backlash. It is off their new album “Fury” available now.

A graphic for the Intercontinental Championship match is shown on the screen.

    Ranallo

Well we heard the announcement from General Manager Maverick earlier tonight that the vacant Intercontinental Championship will be decided in a triple threat match between Roman Reigns, Apollo Crews and Finn Balor. Crews and Balor said earlier tonight that they know it’s every man for himself, but will they stick to their guns on making sure the ever determined Roman Reigns doesn’t end up with the prestigious championship?

A graphic for the Womens World Championship match is shown on the screen.

    Graves

And speaking of sticking to their guns, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch stated during my interview that this is not about friendship, it’s not about having a good match or about friendly competition. This is about the Womens World Championship. I was in that room and I believe the two of them. I believe we’re in for a war between two women looking to prove themselves.

A graphic for Bray Wyatt vs. Sami Zayn is shown on the screen.

    Ranallo

There’s no doubt that this will turn into a war between Sami Zayn and Bray Wyatt. Sami has been attacked a few times by Wyatt now. He boldly challenged Wyatt to this match but we’ll see if Zayn can stop Wyatt in his path towards the “great power.”

A graphic of the World Tag Team Championship tournament bracket is shown on the screen.

    Graves

Wyatt isn’t the only one seeking gold as the World Tag Team Championship tournament comes to an end at Backlash. We are down to four teams that will battle in the semi-finals next week. Who will move on and try to realize their goal of becoming World Tag Team Champions?

A graphic for the World Heavyweight Championship match is shown on the screen.

    Ranallo

And the World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line as the champion AJ Styles defends against the man who feels he is the only one who deserves the title, Kevin Owens. Will Owens be able to prove he’s worthy of the World Title or will Styles continue his great 2016 run?

Hellfire” plays and out comes Rusev, Sheamus and Lana. They let out a battle cry as the crowd boos them.

    Hamilton

The following contest is a six man tag team match scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, being accompanied by "The Ravishing Russian" Lana, at a combined weight of 571 pounds, "The Bulgarian Brute" Rusev and "The Celtic Warrior" Sheamus.

    Graves

It’s main event time! I’ve been looking forward to this match all week.

    Ranallo

Well this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Sheamus and Rusev out here tonight. Earlier in the night, we saw them cost Neville and Zack Ryder their match in the World Tag Team Title Tournament and as if that wasn’t enough, they attacked them afterwards.

    Graves

How many times do I need to tell you… they were getting retribution for being cheated out of the tournament and sending a message to them. But forget those two, because this is about these two men who I’m convinced will be the next great tag team here on Smackdown.

Fight” plays and out comes Kevin Owens to loud boos from the crowd.

    Hamilton

Their partner, from Marieville, Quebec, Canada, weighing in at 266 pounds, Kevin Owens.

    Ranallo

And I’m sure you’re going to praise this man too for his actions the past few weeks?

    Graves

Why not? Kevin Owens became the #1 Contender at SummerSlam. He defeated a former World Champion in Mark Henry. At Backlash he will become World Heavyweight Champion. And tonight, we along with Rusev and Sheamus will take out The Club.

    Ranallo

I think you left out how he’s disrespected the champion, low blowed a former World Champion and retired Christian, disrespected another former World Champion in Mark Henry, and helped attack The Club for no reason last week.

“Omen In The Sky” plays and out comes AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to the crowd cheering loudly for them as they hold up the “too sweet” sign.

    Hamilton

And their opponents, at a combined weight of 763 pounds, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and the World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles, The Club.

    Graves

All you do is focus on all the negatives, so let’s flip things around. The Club has been handed opportunities here on Smackdown while Kevin Owens, Rusev, and Sheamus are denied ones that they deserve and have to work hard to get them. Don’t get me wrong, The Club is great but those other three men deserve the same opportunities.

    Ranallo

They can complain all they want about our General Manager but he’s afforded all of them multiple opportunities. But that’s not what this is about. Tonight is about retribution for The Club after being attacked last week at the end of Smackdown.

    Graves

Of course it’s about that. They needed to make a statement and show why they belong on top. Taking nothing away from The Club but I feel Owens, Sheamus and Rusev are more motivated tonight.

Kevin Owens, Rusev, & Sheamus vs. The Club

The match goes back and forth between the two teams, which each taking control at points. Towards the end, Rusev and Styles are the two legal men. Styles just hit Rusev with a Torando DDT and goes out to the apron waiting for Rusev to get to his feet. Lana grabs Styles’ leg before he can springboard off. The referee notices and starts yelling at Lana before he tosses her out, much to the fans delight. Lana is angry and storms off up the ramp. Rusev goes over to the referee and yells at him for throwing his wife out. As the argument is happening, Styles springboards off the ropes towards Rusev. Rusev notices this and pulls the referee in the way. Styles tries to pull back at the last second but can’t stop from colliding with the referee, taking him down. Styles immediately checks on the referee but Rusev takes advantage with a Running Side Kick to the face. Rusev lets out a yell and looks to be going for the Accolade, but before he can go to lock it in, NEVILLE AND ZACK RYDER come out from the crowd and attack Rusev. Sheamus looks to get in to help, but Neville and Ryder Double Dropkick him off the apron to the outside mat near the ramp. Rusev tries to take that opportunity to roll out of the ring and goes near Sheamus to help his partner up, but Neville and Ryder run off the ropes and DIVE TO THE OUTSIDE onto Sheamus and Rusev, taking them out. Neville and Ryder celebrate their measure of revenge. Rusev and Sheamus slowly try to crawl up the ramp as Neville and Ryder chase the, to the back. Owens gets into the ring looking up the ramp yelling as his partners have been chased out and he’s now alone. Owens pulls himself together and looks to finish the job himself. He turns around and grabs Styles from behind, who is slowly getting back up, but Styles nails Owens with a PELE KICK. Gallows and Anderson get in the ring. Gallows gets Owens on his shoulders, Anderson runs off the ropes and hits him with the BOOT OF DOOM! Styles goes to the outside onto the apron, looks out at the crowd and springboards off onto Owens for a SPRINGBOARD 450 SPLASH! Gallows wakes up the referee who has enough wits to count…1……2…….3. The Club wins!

    Winner: The Club

    Hamilton

Here are your winners, The Club!

    Ranallo

Through all the craziness, The Club gets a measure of retribution against Kevin Owens.

    Graves

Retribution?! This is a travesty! First AJ Styles takes out the referee which should be a disqualification right there. Then Neville and Zack Ryder come out and sneak attack Rusev and Sheamus, leaving Kevin Owens all by himself.

    Ranallo

Turnabout is fair play after what Rusev and Sheamus did to Neville and Ryder earlier tonight. And unfortunately for Kevin Owens, he paid the price and got a taste of his own medicine.

    Graves

That is the future World Heavyweight Champion! He doesn’t deserve that!

    Ranallo

Many would beg the differ. But regardless, The Club gets a big victory here tonight giving them each some momentum. Gallows and Anderson into next week on Smackdown in the semi-finals of the World Tag Team Championship tournament as they take on The Ascension and AJ Styles two weeks away from his first title defense against the man lying in the ring, Kevin Owens.

    Graves

Don’t think that this didn’t just motivate Kevin Owens even more heading into Backlash.

    Ranallo

What will happen next week in our final stop before the first Smackdown exclusive pay per view Backlash? Thank you for joining us this week here on Smackdown! Goodnight!

We fade out with Owens looking angry as he’s slowly trying to get up while The Club “too sweets” each other on the stage.

Re: Amrocky25 & RatedR31 Presents WWE: We Are The WWE Universe

    WWE Presents…

Monday Night Raw from SAP Center in San Jose, California

    Episode 7

    September 12th 2016

    “Making A Statement”

The Then.Now.Forever opening intro plays. We then see Seth Rollins with Nick Kennedy in his office from last week. We are mid conversation
    .

    Kennedy

    Seth…

Kennedy goes to pat him on the back, but Rollins backs-away. Kennedy then chuckles.

    Kennedy

…I hate to break it to you but you have no match tonight.

    Rollins

    (angry)

    WHAT?

    Kennedy

    (half-hearted)

    Sorry…

    (pauses)

We’rerunning out of time. We could only fit the main event.

    Rollins

    Running out of time…

    (pauses)

    …main event?
Rollins shakes his head in disbelief.

    Rollins

I’m the number one draft pick. I’m Monday Night Raw. I’m the main event.

    Kennedy

Actually you were the main event.

Seth is taken back by that comment as once again the Boston crowd acknowledges that diss with an “ohhh”. We then scenes of Rollins getting finishers such as Dirty Deeds and a Zig-Zag from Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler respectfully.

    Kennedy

You have not been getting it down lately Seth. You need to impress in order to get some air time.

“Impress” echoes as we watch Kennedy turn the lights off on Rollins. The scene shifts to the main event where we see Cena and Ambrose doing battle. We watch the two go blow to blow with each other. We watch Ambrose hit a clothesline in the corner followed by a bulldog, then Cena one up him with a Springboard Stunner. We then watch the action spill on the outside as Cena hits the Attitude Adjustment on Ambrose. He rolls him into the ring goes for the pin and only gets a two count, much to his disbelief.

We then see Ambrose hit a Dirty Deeds and he too onlygets a two count in which he shows frustration. We then cut to the Lunatic grabbing a chair from the time keeper area. He slides into the ring and that iswhere we join the action:

Dean slides into the ring and has the chair firmly in his grip. He is ready to strike…BUT CENA GETS UP CATCHING AMBROSE OFF GUARD ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT AS AMBROSE AND THE CHAIR GO FLYING. A few moments pass and Cena crawls towards Ambrose and lays his atop his opponent. ONE….TWO….THR……………

ROLLINS PULLS CENA OFF DEAN AMBROSE!!!! WHAT?!?!!?!? The Boston crowd is stunned.Rollins stomps away on Cena, who at this point can’t even block any of themsince he is fatigued. Rollins looks incensed and is taking out his frustration from earlier out on John Cena. He then notices the chair that was tossed acrossthe ring on accident. He positions in the middle of the ring. He grabs Cena and the two are in the center of the ring. He kicks him in the gut before planting a PEDIGREE ONTO THE CHAIR. BOSTON IS GOING NUTS BY BOOING AND CHANTING “YOUSUCK” TOWARDS ROLLINS. Rollins then turns to his former Shield brother who ishanging on the outside apron. He drags him by the arm sliding him on his back.He turns him over drapes his arm across Cena before rolling out of the ring as Ambrose gets the three count and victory!

    Winner: Dean Ambrose

    Phillips

I cannot believe what we just witnessed. Seth Rollins just cost John Cena the number one contendership for the WWE Championship. All I want to know is why.

The screen turns black and white as we see Rollins standing atop the ramp. The words of Seth Rollins echoes over and over again…“I’m the main event”.

The screen goes black for a few moments before we openup with a wide shot of the titantron.

    Phillips

    This is Monday Night Raw!

    *The Second Coming*

To a mixed reaction comes The Architect Seth Rollins who seems to be in a happier mood compared to the last few weeks. He walks down the ramp and a slight grin can be seen on the face of the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

    Phillips

The WWE Universe has been asking all week, why Seth Rollins? Why did you get involved in the main event last week?

    JBL

I’vealways been one of Seth’s biggest fans, but I too am dying to find out the answer. Last week’s main event was turning into an instant classic and Cena was closing in on become the new number one contender to the WWE Championship, but the Architect got involved.

    Phillips

Which is shocking because for most of the summer Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have waged war against each other.

    JBL

Excellent point, but as they saying goes keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.

Rollins stands in the center of the ring with a microphone in his hand. That little grin hasn’t worn off yet. He takes a few moments to let the crowd wear themselves out before speaking right into the camera.

    Rollins

    DoI have your attention now?

The continued crowd reaction occurs as Rollins starts to pace in the ring a bit as he continues his promo.

    Rollins

For weeks I’ve been hearing I’ve turned into a bust, that I’m no longer main event material and I need to impress to get time on this show. With my actions last week, all those statements were put to bed.

Rollins grin gets a little wider as he continues.

    Rollins

I proved the WWE Universe wrong, I proved the locker-room wrong and I proved our idiotic general manager Nick Kennedy wrong. Seth “Frickin” Rollins is not only the first overall pick, but he is and always will be the main event of Monday Night Raw…

    (pauses)

…and unfortunately for John Cena he had to be the martyr for me to prove my point.

    The crowd boos.

    Rollins

    (smiling)

By the way you’re welcome Dean, although at this rate I’m not surprised I had to bail you out of trouble. After all that’s all I did when we were a part of The Shield.

The crowd boos once again as Rollins laughs.

    Rollins

    Last week-

    *My Time Is Now*

Rollins immediately turns to the entrance ramp as the crowd starts to cheer. We see John Cena appear with a bandage on his head protecting the stitches/staples he received after last week’s match. He look sat Rollins who is begging for Cena to come down. If that’s what he wants, that is what he is going to get as Cena without any hesitation comes running down the ramp and slides in the ring. Just as he does that the first overall pick rolls out of the ring and that only angers Cena, who begs for Seth to get in the ring, but Rollins is not going to fulfill Cena’s wishes which causes the crowd to boo.

    Phillips

    Cena sent Rollins running.

    JBL

Rollins isn’t running he’s giving Cena a chance to rethink his decision.

We see Rollins with that same grin on his face as he is now halfway up the ramp and now has decent space separating him and a pissed off Cena. The screen then shows a match graphic with Big Show and Baron Corbin.

    Phillips

Speaking of decisions Baron Corbin doesn’t have one as Big Show will finally get his hands on The Lone Wolf after weeks of Corbin running. The two go one on one tonight.

The screen then cuts to the backstage area where we seethe WWE Tag Team Champions.

    JBL

Up next we have the “Top Guys” Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson in tag team action and I can’t wait!

    *Commercial Break*

    *What’s Up(Golden Truth Remix)*

Back from commercial we see The Golden Truth bopping in the ring to their theme music as they patiently wait for their opponents tonight.

    *SouthernProud*

To a chorus of boos we see the tag team champions appear. They taunt the crowd a bit as they take the titles off their waists before clinking them together atop the ramp before making their way down to
    the ring.

    JoJo

Their opponents, weighing a combined four hundred and forty six pounds…The Revival!

    Phillips

The self-proclaimed top guys of the tag team division are scheduled for action against Golden Truth here tonight.

    JBL

Self-proclaimed? They clearly are the top guys. They hold the WWE Tag Team titles. If that doesn't scream top guys, what does?

Match 1: The Golden Truth vs. The Revival

Match Summary: The match is a bit more competitive compared to their first meeting a few weeks ago. However, it would still be the same result. After getting a hot tag from Goldust, Truth would mount some offense against Wilder which would include two quick clotheslines followed by a flapjack. However the offense wouldn’t last long. After the flapjack he kicks his opponent in the gut and goes to bounce himself off the ropes, Dawson would trip him up by the legs distracting him. When he turns around he is knocked down by a dropkick from Wilder. Dawson illegally gets in the ring to knock Goldie off the apron. From there they would hit the SHATTER MACHINE and get a three count.

    Winners:The Revival

    Phillips

In easy fashion The Revival pull off the victory against the veteran team of Goldust and R-Truth.

    JBL

I never had any doubts! This team is good. No other team stands a chance.

    Phillips

I'm not sure about that. There are two hungry teams that will be facing off later tonight. We know whoever wins that match; will probably ensure their spot as number one contenders to The Revival’s titles.

We see The Revival clink their titles as they stand tall on the ramp as Goldust checks on his partner who is holding his jaw.

    *Backstage Area*

We see Nick Kennedy in his office typing on his cellphone as he gets a moderate reaction from the crowd. When he looks up we see a still pissed off John Cena. He is red with anger.

    Kennedy

What can I do for you John?

    Cena

I want Rollins and I want him tonight.

The crowd cheers as Kennedy seems slightly speechless. He pauses for a few moments.

    Kennedy

You got five staples on the top of your head.

    Cena

    So…

    Kennedy

I'm concerned about your health. You’re not one hundred percent.

    Cena

I’ma big boy I can handle it.

Kennedy looking at the stature of Cena.

    Kennedy

    I know you are….

    Cena

    So make the match!

(pauses and takes his hat off)

You see what it reads on this hat?

    Kennedy nods.

    Cena

Never give up! It’s not just a saying. It’s my way of life. I have given everything in that ring and I’m not going to let Seth Rollins take that away from me. He's the first overall draft pick? He’s the main event? Well I’m given him the chance to prove it tonight.

The Raw GM sighs and throws his arms in the air.

    Kennedy

    Fine! You got your match.

The crowd cheers as Cena places the hat on top of Kennedy's head and it’s clearly a few sizes too big. He takes it off and shakes his head before scoffing.

    *In-Ring*

In the center of the ring we see a frustrated Dolph Ziggler with microphone in hand. He runs his fingers through his hair before talking into the microphone.

    Ziggler

For weeks someone has been pushing my buttons by creating this “Show-Off Scorecard”. At first, I’ll admit it was a bit amusing, but now it is just plain annoying.

    (pauses)

Clearly someone has a disliking towards me. I don’t know if it’s out of pure hate or jealousy. However there is one thing I do know…

(pauses and looks at the camera)

…the person running it is a complete coward.

    The crowd cheers.

    Ziggler

He needs to stop playing these childish games and settle this like a man. That is why I’m calling him out right now. Maybe he can show me what a good score is…

    (pauses)

…or maybe he can’t, because I’m just that damn good.

The crowd cheers as Ziggler pretty much spikes his microphone to the side as he begins to bounce side to side as he faces the entrance ramp waiting for the Show-Off Scorecard guy to show up. However after a few beats of silence we see EVA MARIE walk out which causes the crowd to boo. She is dressed like a secretary and has a clipboard in her hands along with a microphone.

    Eva Marie

    Dolph…

The crowd continues to boo and chants “You Suck” which causes Eva Marie to stop. She once again lifts the microphone to her mouth recomposing herself.

    Eva Marie

Dolph I can assure you this superstar is not your scorecard nemesis. However, he is your opponent tonight!

She motions towards the back and….

    *Man With A Plan*

The Brian Kendrick in his signature white leather jacket comes swaggering out blowing kisses to the WWE Universe. He receives a very mixed reaction and he would probably have more fans if Eva Marie wasn’t by his side.

    Phillips

It looks like Dolph Ziggler will have to wait a little longer to find out who the man behind the Show-Off Scorecard is.

    JBL

I rather take this! The Brian Kendrick returns to Monday Night Raw!

    Phillips

    Brian Kendrick-

    JBL

    The Brian Kendrick…

    Phillips

The Brian Kendrick made his in ring return to the WWE over the summer when he competed in the Cruiserweight Classic and before that we saw him on Total Divas training Eva Marie, which is why we see the two together now.

    JBL

Under the guidance of Kendrick, Eva has gotten drastically better; however there is still more work to be done. Clearly she is dedicated though. Not only is she in The Brian Kendrick’s corner tonight, she will also be taking notes as indicated by her notepad.

Match 2: Dolph Ziggler vs. The Brian Kendrick

Match Summary: A returning Kendrick in the early going struggled against Ziggler who wasn’t too pleased that he didn't get his wish tonight and in the early going took it out on Kendrick.Eventually Kendrick was able to roll out of the ring and talk to Eva telling her that this was a good “lesson”. Ziggler wasn’t having any of that as he would go to the outside as well and start to chase Kendrick. Kendrick slid back into the ring and bounced off the ropes before connecting with a baseball slide on Dolph who was still on the outside. “Write that down” screamed Kendrick at Eva who would furiously scribble that down as Kendrick would gain the upperhand. Kendrick would follow that note with a few others as he showed plenty of aggression during the match. However, don’t doubt the Show-Off. Kendrick would climb to the top rope but before a move could be performed Ziggler would also scale the rope landing a few punches. He would then get both men off the top rope and onto the mat connecting with a suplexplex from the top.

Both men are down as the referee begins his count. Eva on the outside is now playing cheerleader instead of understudy as she tells Kendrick to get up. Kendrick is the first man up, but can't capitalize as Ziggler pushes his hands away and connects with a superkick. It looks to be over, but he only gets a two count. However, Ziggler is able to follow that up with another signature move this time hitting aFamouser and again only getting a two count. Kendrick goes into the corner to try and gain space. Here comes the former World Heavyweight Champion. He goesover and tries to grab Kendrick who tangles himself in the ropes, forcing his opponent back with help from the ref. Ziggler tries to go for offense again andagain Ziggler tangles himself up. Ziggler is mad and tries to grab Kendrick who is using the ropes. The ref gets around Ziggler’s midsection to push him back and misses KENDRICK CONNECTING WITH A THUMB TO THE EYE. That gives Kendrick the opening needed for THE KENDRICK. He hooks both legs and gets the victory!

    Winner:The Brian Kendrick

Kendrick rolls out of the ring and is met by Eva Marie who gives him a hug. He blows a few kisses to the crowd and asks Eva if she“wrote that down” which she nods.

    JBL

The Brian Kendrick pulls off the victory. I hope Eva Marie got all of that.

    Phillips

You failed to mention the victory came after the illegal poke to the eye.

    JBL

Well if Dolph backed away like he was supposed to the referee wouldn’t have taken his eyes off the match.

    Phillips

Clearly his frustration over the Show-Off Scorecard got the better of him tonight.

We then see the titantron in which the scorecard appears.

    JBL

    Speaking of the scorecard….

The scorecard appears and we see it appear with multiple scores. It reads Eva Marie: 10 and Ziggler: .5.

    Phillips

Eva Marie is getting scores now?!?! C’mon this is getting ridiculous.

    JBL

What Tom?!? She is a ten…just not in the ring.

    (chuckles)

Maybe next week the scorecard could give you a score.

    Phillips

I have a feeling it would not be accurate.

    JBL

It's been pretty accurate about Dolph’s performances lately; I see no reason why it wouldn't be accurate for you as well.

    *Backstage Area*

The camera shows Jack Swagger in the middle of a set of pushups. He does about five before we see a pair of boots flank his right. He hops up and we see Cesaro who gets a huge pop from the crowd. The two share a stare down for a few moments with blank expressions on their face. Finally Cesaro cracks a smile before shaking hands with his former tag team partner.

    Cesaro

    Welcome back…how do you feel?

    Swagger

I'm feeling much better, especially after getting some revenge on Alberto Del Rio last week.

    Cesaro nods.

    Cesaro

Speaking of last week I noticed you signaled to the Miz you were coming for his title.

    Swagger nods.

    Swagger

That's because I never had the opportunity to compete for the United States title in the first place. The way I see it, I’m still number one contender for the title.

    Cesaro

That's true, but I do hold a victory against The Miz which means I’m in line for another opportunity.

    Swagger

You’ve had two already. How many more do you want?

Before the Swiss Superman can reply the two time All-American continues.

    Swagger

You know if I wasn’t attacked at SummerSlam I was going to win our match.

    Cesaro rolls his eyes.

    Cesaro

You’re kidding me right? They don’t call me the Swiss Superman for nothing.

    Swagger

Well I’m a two time, two time All-American…

    (pauses)

    …and your kryptonite.

Cesaro raises his eyebrows clearly surprised. He looks like he wants to say something, but holds it in and regains his thoughts.

    Cesaro

We can settle this at a later time. Let’s focus on tonight. We need to work together to beat those so-called A-Listers Del Rio and Tyler Breeze.

Swagger nods and holds out his hand.

    Swagger

    See you out there…partner.

Cesaro looks at Swagger’s hand and then at Swagger with slight hesitation before shaking his hand and leaving before Raw goes to a commercial break.

    *Commercial Break*

Back from commercial break we see a wide shot of the announce table that features WWE Women’s Champion Paige, Tom Phillips and JBL as “Stars in the Night” plays in the background.

    Phillips

Welcome back to Monday Night Raw and as you can see beside me is the WWE Women’s Champion…Paige.

    (turning to her)

    Welcome!

    Paige

    Hi guys! How are you?

    Phillips

    I’m-

    JBL

We’re doing great! Pleasure to have you here.

    *Tropical Storm*

To some boos we see Tamina appear. She looks out into the crowd and cracks an evil grin before walking down the ramp.

    JoJo

This match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, from The Pacific Islands….Taminnna!

    Phillips

Tamina in action tonight. Tamina of course is the daughter of the legendary Jimmy“Superfly” Snuka.

    JBL

Like her father she is a competitor. One of the strongest women we got in the division. Also appears on Total Divas alongside Paige…ain’t that right?

    Paige

That is, but don’t let Tamina’s nice girl attitude outside of the ring fool you.Inside the ring she is as mean as they come.

    *Turn It Up*

Bayley comes out to a huge pop since Raw is taking place in her hometown. She takes a few steps atop the ramp before raising her arms high in the air as inflatable arm flailing tubeman on each side of her start to wave in the air.

    JoJo

Her opponent from San Jose, Calfornia….IT’S BAYYYYLEY!

    Phillips

Last week Bayley battled Emma in what was a great match. Bayley would go on to win and is the new number one contender to the WWE Women’s Championship.

    JBL

That is why I assume you’re out here Paige to scout your future opponent.

    Paige

In part yes, but I am also here to support my friend Bayley.

    JBL

Friend? What do you care about more that championship or your friendship?

    Paige

I care about both equally, but when I’m in the ring there are no friendships.

    JBL

That's what I like to hear.

    Phillips

Maybe that's why you don’t have any friends John.

    Paige laughs.

    JBL

    Shut-up Tom!

    Match3: Tamina vs. Bayley

Match Summary: A good back and forth match early but Tamina would use her strength to gain the upper hand and just as Bayley starts to fight back her opponent is able to land a nice Samoan drop. Just like her father did, she works her way up to the top rope and is looking to end the match. She goes for the Superfly Splash, but misses. From there it would be able to take advantage and build momentum. She is able to hit Tamina with two double axe handles. She would then whip Tamina into the corner before falling that up with a springboard running back elbow. Tamina is now in trouble as Bayley charges from the other corner before connecting with a dropkick, nearly taking Tamina’s head off. Tamina stumbles to her knees and falls face first on the mat as Bayley turns her over for a pin, but only gets a two count. Bayley stalks her opponent who is a bit dazed as she gets up. She goes to grab Tamina, who pushes Bayley away. She then tries a superkick, but Bayley catches it, spins her around and connects with the BAYLEY TO BELLY which gets the victory for the number one contender.

    Winner:Bayley

    Phillips

Bayley keeps on rolling! Paige your thoughts?

    Paige

Good win, but that’s never going to happen to me.

The camera then shows Bayley approach the table which causes Paige to stand and show off the title around her arm. Are the two about to throw down? Nope…instead Bayley hugs Paige, nearly knocking her over.

    JBL

They may be all hugs now, but soon enough these two will face off in the ring and I can't wait!

    *Backstage Area*

We see Nick Kennedy watching the monitor. He has a smile on his face. He walks over and takes a seat at his desk and hears a knock on the door. He tells them to come in and we see Emma who gets boos from the crowd. She looks at the screen that still shows Paige and Bayley still buddy-buddy. She shakes her head in frustration.

    Emma

This…this is a travesty. Hugging? There is no hugging in wrestling.

    (looks at Kennedy)

You can't be happy with this.

    Kennedy

I am. They are two of the best Raw had to offer.

    Emma

But they're not better than me.

Emma giggles but not in a cute way, more like an evil way. She then looks at Kennedy who is looking down at some papers. She seductively walks over and pushes the papers off the desk before lying on top of the table.

    Kennedy

    What you do that for?!?!?

    Emma

Oh…did I do that? I’m so clumsy sometimes.

Now she giggles in a cute girlish way, but Kennedy isn't having it.

    Kennedy

I don't have time for this.

Kennedy pushes his chair angrily behind him and starts to pick up the papers. Emma pouts.

    Emma

    When will you have time?

    Kennedy

    Let's see….

    (pauses)

I don't know, last Tuesday through Sunday. I sent you text; I called you and got nothing.

    Emma

    I’m sowwwry.

    (pauses)

I was too devastated to talk after losing to Bayley last week.

    Kennedy

So why didn’t just say that?

    Emma

Because…I was ashamed. I don’t want you to be going out with a loser.

Emma sits up from the desk and Kennedy grabs her by the hand.

    Kennedy

    You're not a loser.

    Emma

    I sure feel like one.

    Kennedy

Is there any way I can make you feel better?

Emma thinks for a few moments.

    Emma

    Maybe a match against…

    (pauses)

    PAIGE!

    Kennedy

    Paige?!?!

    Emma

    Next week…

    (pauses)

    Non-title of course.

    Kennedy

I don't know. You haven’t really earned it.

Emma eyes start to water as she begins to give Kennedy puppy eyes. Kennedy after a few moments sighs and then cracks a little smile.

    Kennedy

    Fine….

    Emma

    Yay!

    Kennedy

But under one condition. A little sugar for your sugar.

Emma looks confused as Kennedy points to his lips. She then raises her eyebrows and starts to panic a bit.

    Emma

    Okay…

    (pauses)

    Okay….close your eyes.

Kennedy closes his eyes. Emma pretends to gag. She then pulls out her cellphone and pretends to talk to someone.

    Emma

    Sorry bae!

    (leaving)

It’s my agent. Got to go!

Kennedy opens his eyes as Emma is practically running out of the frame.

    Kennedy

    I didn't hear it ring.

    Emma

    (off-screen)

    It was on vibrate!

    Kennedy snaps his fingers together.

    Kennedy

    Dang it! Maybe next week…

He hangs his head as Raw goes to a commercial break.

    *Commercial Break*

We see a graphic of The Miz with Maryse behind him. He has the U.S. Championship draped around his shoulder. The graphic also has the Good Morning America logo.

    Phillips

Tomorrow The Miz will be a special guest on Good Morning America.

    JBL

I can't wait! I’m going to be up bright and early for that one.

    *Realeza*

Alberto Del Rio and Tyler Breeze both appear. The crowd boos as Breeze and Del Rio taunt the crowd as they walk down the ramp.

    JoJo

This match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first weighing a combined four hundred and fifty one pounds…Alberto Del Rio and Tyler Breeze…the A-Listers!

    Phillips

With The Miz on GMA tomorrow morning he is not here tonight.

    JBL

Still two thirds of the A-Listers are here and that is great. I know the Miz is rooting for these two guys from his penthouse suite in New York.

    *Patriot*

Jack Swagger stands atop the ramp places his hand over his heart and screams “We The People” which echoes throughout the arena as the crowd also screams it.

    JoJo

Their opponent first from Perry, Oklahoma weighing two hundred and sixty two pounds, heis an All-American American…Jack Swagger!

    Phillips

The Miz also is watching because of Jack Swagger and Cesaro. Both men feel they should be number one contender for his United States Championship.

    JBL

That may have an effect on their partnership here tonight. These two guys are competitors and kind of like the Bayley and Paige situation, championships over friendships.

    *Swiss Made*

Cesaro comes out to his signature ringing alarm before ripping off his suit and doing his machine gun taunt.

    JoJo

His partner from from Lucerne, Switzerland weighing two hundred and thirty two pounds….Ceeesarrooo!

    Phillips

That may be true, but it may also drive them to perform their very best. This could be an interview of sorts for them. If they are impressive and pull out a victory against the A-Listers tonight, possibly one of them or both could be the number one contender to The Miz’s title.

    JBL

Both? You hateful bias towards the Miz is showing Tom. At least when I do it at least I do it subtly.

    Match4: A-Listers vs. Jack Swagger/Cesaro

Match Summ: As mentioned by Phillips in the early portion of this match both Swagger and Cesaro tag each other in trying to one up the other. It would cost Swagger who would try a Swagger Bomb in the corner, but would get the knees of Breeze in the abdomen. From there ADR and Tyler Breeze would take apart Swagger. They would show great double team moves such as a double suplex and a double clothesline. However, Del Rio’s cockiness, much like Swagger’s trying to one-up Cesaro would cost him. Del Rio would taunt the crowd before charging atSwagger in the corner. The two time All-American would catch him mid-air and would connecting with a belly to belly overhead toss.

Both men are down. Swagger is able to make the tag to Cesaro who knocks Del Rio downwith a picture perfect dropkick followed by a running European Uppercut to Breeze knocking him on the outside. The Uppercut party won’t stop as he charges and hits one on Del Rio in the corner. He then sweeps the legs of Del Rio and The King of Swing is about to send the Mexican A-Lister swinging. The crowd begins to count as round and round they go. After 11 360 swings Cesaro lets goof him, just in time for Breeze to illegally connect with a superkick.

The crowd boos as Breeze grabs his partner and drags him closer to safety before tagging himself in. Breeze goes to grab Cesaro but again he gets a shoulder thrust into his ribs by the Swiss Superman. He then grabs Breeze and places his head between his legs. He kinks his neck before hoisting him up and hitting THE NEUTRLIZER. The crowd goes wild as Cesaro goes for the pin and gets the three count.

    Winner: Cesaro/Jack Swagger

    Phillips

As I said, maybe both men deserve to be number one contenders.

    JBL

I’m sure The Miz won’t care. He’ll welcome both. He already beat Cesaro and he could beat Jack Swagger easily.

    *Backstage Area*

We see Big Show walking down the hallway. He pats a worker on the back before flashing a smile. He then continues to walk.

    Phillips

Big Show is all smiles. Probably because he finally gets his hands on Baron Corbin. That match is next!

    *Commercial Break*

    *Crank It Up*

The crowd reaction is small, but they cheer as the Big Show makes his way towards the ring.

    JoJo

Introducing first, from Tampa, Florida weighing four hundred and fifty pounds…The Big Show!

Big Show continues down the ramp and we can hear the crowd buzzing. That is because Primo and Epico from behind try to attack Big Show! PRIMO JUMPS ON THE BACK OF SHOW, WHILE EPICO GRABS A HOLD OF ONE OF HIS LEGS. While these may be two grown men, they looking like kids trying to take down their father when kids wrestle with their father. Show is not going down.Instead he is able to flip Primo off his back as Primo lands hard on the steel ramp. He then grabs Epico by the head and lifts him up with ease. He then delivers a hand slap across his chest that rings out inside the arena.

    Phillips

Primo and Epico have no business being out here.

    JBL

Two weeks ago they were embarrassed by the Big Show. They’re trying to get some revenge.

    (laughs)

Easier said than done as Big Show is dismantling them.

Big Show goes grabs Epico by the throat. He looks like he is about to chokeslam him on the outside mats BUT FROM BEHIND CORBIN COMES IN WITH A CLUBBING BLOW TO THE BACK. Show drops Epico and Corbin using strength and momentum pushes Big Show into the ring post face first.

    Phillips

And here comes Corbin from behind!

    (pauses)

    This was a set-up!

    JBL

Non-sense! Corbin said he doesn’t work well with others. After all the Shining Stars disrupted his match. He said he is not afraid of the Big Show and he is proving it.

Show is down to one knee. Corbin builds momentum and knocks him down with a big boot to the face that brings Show flat on the mat.Corbin then stomps away making sure there is no chance Show gets back to his feet. After a series of stomps Corbin goes over to the time keeper area and shoos them away. He then grabs a chair and with Show halfway up smashes it overhis back. He then connects with another one for good measure as Show is flat on his stomach, thriving in pain. The crowd boos as Corbin tosses the half bent chair away as referees come running down and tell the Lone Wolf to get back.

    Phillips

Big Show appears to be in pain and Baron Corbin got what he wanted.

    JBL

No he didn’t. He wanted a match against the Big Show. This is the complete opposite. Damn, you Shining Stars for ruining what was sure to be a great match and more than likely a Baron Corbin victory.

We see the refs checking on a fallen Big Show who still feeling the effects of that attack. A match graphic appears of Seth Rollins and John Cena.

    JBL

It's been a wild ride tonight, but we still have plenty more to come. That includes tonight's main event. It will be Seth Rollins verse John Cena.

Another match graphic appears with The Usos and The NewDay.

    Phillips

Up next two teams trying to climb the tag team ladder as it will be The New Day taking on the The Usos.

    *Commercial Break*

The camera gets a wide shot of the fans, but not just any fans. It is members of the San Jose Sharks. This includes Brent Burns, Martin Jones and Tomas Hertl. The crowd cheers.

    Phillips

Well look who we have here! Members of the 2015-16 Western Conference Champion San Jose Sharks, featuring Brent Burns, Martin Jones and Tomas Hertl.

    JBL

They don't call this place the Shark Tank for nothing. And look at Brent Burns's beard. He could be a member of the Wyatt family.

AwwwwwwwwwwwwwSan Jose! Don’t you dare be sour! Clap for your world famous former two-time champs and feel the power!”

“It's A New Day, Yes It Is”

    *New Day, New Way*

Party time as we see the familiar trio make their way down to the ring, shaking their hips and tossing Booty O's into the crowd.

    JoJo

This match is scheduled for one fall. Representing The New Day….Kofi Kingston and Big E!!!

    Phillips

The Usos have been on a role as of late, however The New Day claim that despite losing at SummerSlam, they are still the top team here on Monday Night Raw.

    JBL

That’s a joke. They lost the titles to The Revival at SummerSlam. They’re no longer the top guys. They have to start from the bottom.

    *So Close Now*

    JoJo

Their opponents from San Francisco, California weighing a combined four hundred andseventy nine pounds...Jimmy and Jey...The Usos
    Phillips

John as champions The Revival need opponents, which team do you think has a better shot taking down the The Revival.

    JBL

Neither team. If I had to choose one to at least be worthy opponents for The Revival, I would choose The Usos. Two time Slammy Award winning tag team. Plus they don't dance horribly and have god awful breakfast cereal.

Match 6: The New Day vs. The Usos

Match Summary: Before the bell rang Jey would shake hands with Kofi as both teams show a sign of respect. Also int he beginning both teams got the crowd to chant “New Day Rocks” and “Uce-O”.Getting to the match itself Kofi and Jey started off and showed off their speed as both tried for quick pins, but only got one counts. Both simultaneously tried a dropkick and got air. The crowd cheers as Kofi would make a tag to the powerhouse of The New Day, while Jimmy would get that tag from his brother.Going to the powerhouse was a good decision as Big E. would gain the upper hand.At one point Big E. was just toying with Jimmy locking in an abdominal stretch slapping his midsection. Momentum would swing to the Usos when Big E. whipped Jimmy into the corner. E would charge into the corner and Jimmy would get an elbow into the face of Big E. He would hop onto the second rope and jump, but Big E. would catch him and set him up for the BIG ENDING, but Jimmy would slide off push Big E. into the corner turnbuckles front first and follow it up with a superkick.

Both men need to make a tag and both would. Kofi comes flying in, but before he can mount offense Jey comes springing in with a crossbody. He then comes up and connects with a flapjack. Kofi again is quickly up, but Jey connects with a dropkick that sends Kofi flying into the corner. He hits hard and sits down in the corner. Jey builds up-steam from the opposite corner and connects with running hip attack. Before he can go for a pin he sees Big E. charging at him. He leans up against the ropes and lowers the top rope that sends Big E. up, over and spilling onto the outside. Jimmy is now up and both men focus on Kofi who is back to his feet, but he walks right into a double superkick. The camera shows Woods trying to help Big E. up, but Jimmy takes care of both connecting with a Suicide Dive, only to be shown up by his brother Jey who is high flying off the rope and connecting with SAMOAN SPLASH! He hooks both legs and gets the three!

    Winner:The Usos

The crowd goes wild as the celebration is short as from the crowd comes THE REVIVAL WHO TACKLE JEY. Both men stomp away on Jey as the crowd boos.
Jimmy from the outside hopsonto the apron, but receives a knee from Wilder that sends him back onto the outside. Dawson then starts to bark out orders and before you know it they send Jey off the ropes and he is welcomed by THE SHATTER MACHINE. The crowd boos as Wilder and Dawson stand over Jey Usos’ body. The crowd boos.

    JBL

You wanted to prove you’re the top tag team in the WWE Usos? You just met who you have to go through in order to obtain that honor.

    Phillips

I hate to say it, but you may be right. After so much dominance in NXT, it seems like The Revival are destined for the same here on Monday Night Raw.

    *Backstage Area*

We see the Lone Wolf Baron Corbin walking with a swagger down the hallway. He has a slight sweat from the attack he executed earlier. However, he seems pleased with himself as a little grin appears on his face. The camera zooms out and we see Renee Young holding a microphone.

    Young

Baron…if I could have a moment of your time?
He doesn’t seem to be in the mood to talk, but Reneecontinues anyway.

    Young

Many members of the WWE Universe want to know if you had prior knowledge that the Shining Stars were going to attack The Big Show?

    Corbin

    Prior knowledge?

    (laughs)

That's a joke right? We tried that experiment once before and it clearly didn’t work.

    Young

You have to admit that the Shining Stars attacking Big Show did help you do whatyou did tonight to Big Show.

    Corbin

I don't need anyone’s help. What the Shining Stars did was utter stupidity and done completely under their own accord. What I do know is that Big Show was laid out by me. Last week you asked me if I was afraid of Big Show. After tonight I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Big Show who is afraid of me.

He gives a fierce look to Renee before leaving. A match graphic appears for tonight’s main event.

    Phillips

Up next it will be our main event! It will be Seth Rollins verse John Cena. Cena is not at one hundred percent and Rollins has a chip on his shoulder as he looks to prove he is still The Main Event here on Monday Night Raw. Who will prevail?

    *Commercial Break*

“Light up the Sky” by Thousand Foot Krutch plays in the background as we see a graphic with Nick Kennedy on it.

    Phillips

This just in…Nick Kennedy has a huge announcement next week regarding the Raw brand and we just learned Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon will also be there!

    JBL

Hopefully that means he will be resigning and Stephanie will be taking over Raw. Get ready Boise, Idaho!

    *The Second Coming*

Seth Rollins comes out to boos as he stands tall atop the ramp. He beats on his chest a few times before swaggering down the ramp.

    JoJo

This match is scheduled for one fall. First from Davenport, Iowa weighing two hundred and seventeen pounds…Seth Rollins!

    Phillips

Before we get to next week, we still have a main event tonight. Seth Rollins last week got involved in the main event costing John Cena the number one contendership for the WWE Championship, by planting Cena with a Pedigree onto a chair.

    JBL

Only after he had Nick Kennedy tell him that he needed to impress. That was impressive. Last week he wasn’t even featured on the show! How can you not feature the first overall pick in the WWE Draft?!?!?

    *MyTime Is Now*

A nice pop comes from the San Jose crowd. Cena comes out and displays a new colored rally towel. He shows it to the camera before tossing it into the crowd and running down the ramp.

    JoJo

His opponent from West Newbury, Massachusetts weighing two hundred and fifty one pounds….John Cennnna!

    Phillips

Not at a hundred percent tonight John Cena is a walking target. Clearly has damage to his head as seen by the huge bandage, someone like Seth Rollins, so desperate for a win, will be looking to take advantage of that.

    JBL

Some may call it stupidity others call in heart. Whatever it is, it is the reason why John Cena is a fifteen time world champion.

Main Event: Seth Rollins vs. John Cena

Match Summary: Multiple times throughout the match The Architect goes for the head of Cena trying to expose those staples. The bandage might as well be a target on Cena’s forehead. However, Cena throughout the match is able to keep it on preventing further blood lost. In the early going Rollins is motivated and takes advantage of the less than one hundred percent Cena. Plenty of kick combos and high powermoves like Buckle Bomb, Somersault Neckbreaker from the top rope and the Falcon Arrow all getting near falls.

Cena is able to fight back just like we’ve seen throughout his career, Cena takes advantage of the miss Five Star Frog Splash from the top rope by his opponent. He leads the comeback by connecting with four of the five “Moves of Doom” which occurs at the eleven minute mark of the match. When he gets Rollins up on his shoulders for an Attitude Adjustment…..

    *
    Retaliation*

Cena immediately drops Rollins and turns to face the ramp. The crowd is buzzing and after a few moments Dean Ambrose appears from the curtains. He also looks to be at less than a hundred percent, but he is making his way down the ramp, even if it is at a slower pace. Whatever the pace is Cena wants him as he is waving him to come down.

It might not even matter because as the Lunatic is at the end of the ramp, from behind is former Shield brother is up and grabs Cena from behind rolling him up GRABBING HIS JORTS FOR THE THREE COUNT AND MUCH NEEDED VICTORY!

    Winner:Seth Rollins

    JBL

Rollins just pinned John Cena! The losing streak is over! The main event wins tonight’s main event. He still got it!

We see Cena defeated and try to grab Rollins who quickly rolls out of the ring to prevent the beat down of his life. Rollins looks at Ambrose who looks at him.

    Ambrose

    You’re welcome…

    (pauses)

    …now we’re even.

Ambrose starts to walk backwards back up the ramp never taking his eyes off Cena who is now protesting to the ref that his jorts were held on too. Still it doesn’t seem like the ref will reverse his decision. The camera shows Ambrose atop the ramp, still with his eyes locked on Cena.

    Phillips

    The Ambrose-Cena rivalry cont-

WHAM! FROM BEHIND WITH HIS TITLE THE WWE CHAMPION CHRIS JERICHO TAKES DOWN DEAN AMBROSE!

    Phillips

    What the hell?!?!?!

    (pauses)

    It’s Chris Jericho!

    JBL

Our WWE Champion and the man Dean Ambrose has a future championship opportunity against.

Jericho turns Ambrose on his back and gets on top of him firing right hands as the crowd boos. After what seems like fifteen to twenty punches he gets up and stands over Ambrose.

    Jericho

Remember who your real enemy is Ambrose!

    (jesus like pose)

    Drink it in mannnnnnnnn!

The crowd boos as the scene fades to black with Jericho standing over Ambrose feeding off boos from the San Jose crowd.

Re: Amrocky25 & RatedR31 Presents WWE: We Are The WWE Universe

    Smackdown – 9/13/16

    Wells Fargo Center

    Philadelphia, PA

WWE “Then, Now, Forever” opening video plays.

We cut to a recap of last week’s Smackdown

    **Recap of Last Week’s Smackdown**

    Hamilton

The following contest is a six man tag team match scheduled for one fall.

We see AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on the stage holding up the “too sweet” hand signs.

    Ranallo

Tonight is about retribution for The Club after being attacked last week at the end of Smackdown.

Owens, Sheamus and Rusev are ready in the ring.

    Graves

Taking nothing away from The Club but I feel Owens, Sheamus and Rusev are more motivated tonight.

We see match highlights from the match. Styles looks to go for the Phenomenal Forearm but Lana holds his leg. The referee throws Lana out of the match and Rusev argues with the referee. Styles springboards off the ropes at Rusev, but Rusev pulls the referee in the way, making Styles take him out accidentally.

    Ranallo

And the referee has been knocked out!

Rusev hits Styles with a Running Side Kick to the face. Rusev looks for the Accolade, but Neville and Zack Ryder comes out and attack Rusev.

    Ranallo

Neville and Ryder getting revenge for Rusev and Sheamus costing them their chance in the tournament earlier tonight.

They dropkick Sheamus off the apron and dive to the outside onto Sheamus and Rusev before chasing them up the stage and to the back.

    Ranallo

Kevin Owens now out here all alone.

Owens goes to pick up Styles but Styles hits the Pele Kick. Gallows and Anderson get in and hit Owens with the BOOT OF DOOM! Styles then hits Owens with a SPRINGBOARD 450 SPLASH! Gallows wakes up the referee who counts the three.

    Ranallo

Through all the craziness, The Club gets a measure of retribution against Kevin Owens.

    Graves

Don’t think that this didn’t just motivate Kevin Owens even more heading into Backlash.

    Ranallo

What will happen next week in our final stop before the first Smackdown exclusive pay per view Backlash?

We fade out with Owens looking angry as he’s slowly trying to get up while The Club “too sweets” each other on the stage.

    **End Smackdown Recap**

We cut backstage to see Alex Maverick working at his desk in his office as we hear the crowd cheer for the General Manager. Just then, Kevin Owens barges into the room and Maverick perks up from his desk. The crowd can be heard booing.

    Maverick

    Kevin…

    Maverick points to the door.

You know the door is closed for a reason.

    Owens

Your door should always be open to your future World Champion.

Maverick wants to respond to that but just lets it go.

    Maverick

To what do I owe this unscheduled visit?

    Owens

Don’t be cute with me. Did you see what happened last week?!

    Maverick

Yes I did… I am in fact the Smackdown General Manager so it’s part of my job.

    Owens

So then clearly you saw the injustice that happened to me. What are you going to do about it?

    Maverick

    Injustice?

    Owens

Yeah injustice! First AJ Styles purposely takes out the referee because he knew he was about to lose. Then those wastes of space Neville and Zack Ryder stick their stupid noses into MY match and attack my tag team partners, leaving me out there all on my own.

    Maverick

    And…

    Owens

And you should do something about it.

    Maverick

    mockingly

What would you like me to do Kevin?

    Owens

I don’t like your tone. You should be taking this seriously. Neville and Ryder should be punished for interfering for no reason at all. AJ Styles should be suspended and stripped of his championship for hitting a referee. And I want the decision last week reversed PLUS the World Heavyweight Championship handed to me.

    Maverick thinks for a second.

    Maverick

Ok so… none of that is going to happen.

    Owens doesn’t look too happy.

Neville and Ryder are not your concern. Your partners Rusev and Sheamus started that last week and are to blame, so they will settle that score at Backlash this Sunday in a tag team match.

    Maverick pauses.

As for AJ, he clearly hit the referee by accident so I will not be suspending him, stripping him of the title, or reversing the decision from last week. What I will do for you Kevin is this…

    Maverick pauses.

Tonight I’m putting you in a match against a former World Champion.

    Owens

    Who?

    Maverick

    “The Big Red Machine” Kane!

Owens doesn’t look too happy about that decision. Maverick gets closer to Owens and gets very serious.

Now I’m going to tell you this one time… I’m the General Manager. I make the decisions here, not you. So next time, think twice before you barge into my office and make demands.

Owens stares down Maverick before leaving his office. Maverick smirks.

“Back From The Dead” by Skillet plays as the Smackdown opening video plays.

Pyro goes off in the arena and the fans are all on their feet cheering and going crazy.

We cut to the announce table at ringside with Mauro Ranallo.

    Ranallo

We are just five days away from the first Smackdown exclusive pay per view. The crowd here in Philly is electric for the last stop before Backlash and what a way to kick things off with the announcement of Kevin Owens vs. Kane tonight. Mauro Ranallo here and as you can see my colleague Corey Graves is not beside me and that’s because he’s in the ring getting ready to hold a special Intercontinental Championship forum.

We cut to the ring to see Corey Graves sitting on a stool in the middle of the ring with three empty stools next to him (two to the right and one to the right) and a podium next to him with the Intercontinental Championship on top.

    Graves

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to Smackdown!

    The crowd cheers.

Apparently I did such a great job with the sit down with Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch last week that our General Manager and Commissioner asked me to hold a special Intercontinental Championship forum here tonight.

    Graves turns towards the stage.

So without further ado, lets introduce the three men who will be competing at Backlash for this prestigious championship. First up, is former WWE World Champion, Roman Reigns!

“The Truth Reigns” plays and the crowd boos as Roman Reigns makes his way out.

    Ranallo

Last week, Roman Reigns came out here and explained his actions from two weeks ago where he attacked Apollo Crews and Finn Balor stating that he felt he deserved a title opportunity before either of them. Our General Manager Alex Maverick came out and made this triple threat match for the vacant Intercontinental Title and you can tell Roman Reigns has his eye on the prize.

Reigns gets into the ring, looks at the Intercontinental Title in the ring intensely and sits down next to Graves.

    Graves

Next is one of the most athletic wrestlers we’ve ever seen, Apollo Crews!

“Cruise Control” plays and out comes Apollo Crews to a cheering crowd.

    Ranallo

Athletic indeed is Apollo Crews. With a great combination of strength, speed and agility, Apollo Crews may be one of the more dangerous superstars in the ring. We got to see him down in NXT for a short time last year before making it to the main roster earlier this year. Ever since the draft, Apollo Crews has started to improve more and more, showing us all just what he’s capable of.

Crews gets into the ring and stares down Reigns. He points at the Intercontinental Title and makes a motion around his waist before sitting down.

    Graves

And finally, the longest reigning NXT Champion, Finn Balor!

“Catch Your Breath” plays and out comes Finn Balor to a big ovation from the crowd.

    Ranallo

It’s been about two months since Finn Balor got called up to the main roster during the draft. He was one of the top draft picks for Smackdown and so far he has shown why. I have had the privilege of calling some of his high profile matches in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He helped to make NXT what it is today. And now Finn Balor hopes to show just how good he is here on Smackdown and he can start this Sunday with the Intercontinental Championship.

Balor gets into the ring and looks at the Intercontinental Championship. He then looks up at Reigns and then over at Crews. Balor looks back down at the title before sitting down.

    Graves

Gentlemen, thank you for joining me out here. This Sunday, you three will compete for the vacant Intercontinental Championship… a championship filled with great lineage and held my many Hall of Famers. Last week, you three were hand-picked by our General Manager to compete in a Triple Threat match for the opportunity to etch your name in history.

    Graves pauses.

None of you have held this championship before, so we are guaranteed to see a first time champion.

    Graves turns to Reigns.

My first question is for you Roman. As you look at the two men across from you, you have been on the main roster longer than them and neither of them have won a championship on the main roster yet, unlike you. Do you feel that gives you the advantage going into Sunday?

    Reigns

Of course it does. I said it last week and I’ll say it again. What have Apollo Crews and Finn Balor done to deserve a title opportunity? I’m a former WWE World Champion. I’ve won the Royal Rumble, main evented WrestleMania twice, and the list goes on and on. I know what it takes to be a champion. These two…

Reigns looks over at Crews and Balor.

Simply put can’t hang with the Big Dog.

    Graves

Well speaking of championship experience or lack thereof…

    Graves turns to Crews.

Apollo, this next question is for you. We just heard Roman Reigns list his accolades here in WWE. We have seen Finn Balor be successful down in NXT. But with you, we haven’t seen much success when it comes to championships down in NXT or up here on the main roster. What makes you think you deserve this opportunity and is there a reason why you haven’t been successful in that department yet?

    Crews

Let me answer your second question first. I debuted in NXT last year in August at NXT Takeover Brooklyn. I then got brought up to the main roster earlier this year. That is a very quick turnaround… quicker than most that come up from NXT. Quicker than Sami Zayn, Neville, the 4 Horsewomen…

Crews points to Balor next to him.

And even this man, Finn Balor. All considered to be great stars. And I was brought to the main roster quicker than all of them. There must be a reason for that. So I never had time to get my real shot at the NXT Title. And I’ve only been here for so long on the main roster. But I’ve made the most of it, especially since the brand split. I have been given more time to showcase what I can do. You said it Corey, I’m one of the most athletically gifted wrestlers you’ve ever seen. I think that management has seen that and that’s why I deserve this opportunity.

    Graves

We’ve brought up NXT a lot so far so let’s go to the man that helped make NXT what it is today…

    Graves turns to Balor

Finn, you were the longest reigning NXT Champion in history. But as Apollo just alluded to, it took you a long time to make it to the main roster. And if we want to go back further, it took you a long time to make it to WWE in general despite your success in New Japan. Why do you think that is and does that say something about you and how you’re viewed here?

    Balor

No I don’t think it say anything, especially not anything negative. It’s not about the destination… it’s about the journey. I would never take back my time in New Japan or in NXT. My time there made me who I am today. I feel like I’m at the top of my game right now and I feel like our General Manager and Commissioner recognize that too. I spent so much time in both places for the same reason… because I was the champion at that time and I wanted to help make it a better place. And I feel like I did that for both New Japan and NXT.

    Balor pauses.

You know, it’s odd that you ask me that question when so many talents took a very similar path to me getting here. AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Cesaro, even Daniel Bryan all traveled the world just like me for years and years before making it to the WWE.

    Balor turns towards Reigns.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a family legacy to get us in the door, so we relied on hard work.

    Reigns stares at Balor.

    Reigns

Is that a shot at me?

    Balor

Take it as you wish. You are a great talent but you have been privileged in this business while guys like myself and Apollo had to work for everything we’ve gotten. That’s what this title is all about. It’s been named the “workhorse” title for a reason.

    Reigns

Let me tell you something you leprechaun… I don’t care where you’ve gone or how hard it was to get here. If you were that good, you would’ve been here from the beginning like me. But face it, you don’t look like a star… far from it.

    Reigns turns towards Crews.

And you… you are as replaceable as a roll of paper towels. Once you runout, I can go down the street and get another one of you at any time. Because you’re just a bland, mediocre wrestler just like so many other “incredible athletes” before you.

    Reigns pauses.

I’ve been the star of this company. I’ve put it on my back the last few years. Without me, this company collapses. If you two leave... the only thing that happens is the indies gets two more rejects back. The two of you will be known nothing more than footnotes in the history books next to Roman Reigns…

Reigns puts his hand in the sky like he’s reading a headline.

    Intercontinental Champion!

    Crews

Think what you want Roman, but it doesn’t change the fact that as long as Alex Maverick is here, you won’t be getting opportunities handed to you left and right because of your family lineage anymore. You’re going to have to earn it just like the rest of us. Smackdown is the land of opportunity…

Crews leans in more towards Reigns.

    Not the land of handouts!

Reigns walks up to Crews and stares him down. Reigns then punches Crews and starts brawling with him.

    Ranallo

It looks like Roman Reigns took exception to what Apollo Crews said about him.

Balor jumps in and helps Crews out, attacking Reigns with fists and forearm strikes. Crews joins back in and he and Balor toss Reigns to the outside.

Finn Balor and Apollo Crews dumping Roman Reigns to the outside, getting some retribution for two weeks ago when he attacked them both during their match.

Balor and Crews back up and look towards each other. They then notice the podium with the Intercontinental Championship is between them as they look down at the title. They both put a hand on it and signal to each other that they will be the champion.

Could we see them both work together to dispose of Roman Reigns like they just did tonight or will it truly be every man for himself when that prestigious championship is one the line?

Just then, Reigns comes back into the ring and blasts Balor from behind into the podium and into Crews. Reigns grabs Balor and tosses him into the ring post, shoulder first. Reigns then turns right around and nails Crews, who just got back to his feet, with a Superman Punch!

And Roman Reigns showing just why he believes he should be champion, attacking them both from behind again.

Reigns goes over to where the Intercontinental Title is lying on the mat and picks it up. He raises it over his head yelling “I’m The Man!” as the crowd boos him.

Will it be Roman’s time to shine this Sunday?

Reigns puts the title back on the mat and walks out of the ring and up the ring with a badass attitude.

It’s all about that Intercontinental Championship right there. Who will add their names to the history books at Backlash?

We cut backstage to see Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson walking in the hallway to the ring.

    Ranallo

And speaking of championships, these two men hope to win one at Backlash as well, but first The Club members must get past The Ascension. It’s the semi-finals of the World Tag Team Championship tournament next.

    **Commercial Break**

We come back backstage with Byron Saxton, ready to interview someone.

    Saxton

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guests at this time, Neville and Zack Ryder.

Neville and Zack Ryder come into frame and the crowd can be heard cheering.

Last week in the first round of the Tag Team Title Tournament, Rusev and Sheamus came out and ultimately cost you two the match to The Ascension. And if that wasn’t enough, they attacked you after the match. We now know that it’s official that this Sunday at Backlash, it will be the two of you taking on the team of Rusev and Sheamus. What are your thoughts heading into that match in just five nights?

    Neville

I’ve had my issues with Rusev for a while now, going back to when he attacked me before SummerSlam. He and Sheamus seem to only know how to sneak attack people and try to take them out because they can’t get the job done in the ring.

    Neville pauses.

Their personal cheerleader Lana says they are the best team, but what have they done? They lost to Finn Balor and Apollo Crews at SummerSlam and then they lost to us in the tournament qualifying match a few weeks ago. As far as we’re concerned, they’re just a couple of sore losers.

    Ryder

And just like last week in the main event, we will get our retribution this Sunday. As for tonight, I’m going to give a Sheamus a preview of what’s to come when I fist pump his face and knock that ugly looking mohawk off his head.

Ryder makes a fist pump motion in the air.

Woo, woo, woo! You know it!

“Rebellion” plays and out comes The Ascension to a booing crowd.

    Hamilton

The following tag team contest is schedules for one fall and it is a Semi-Finals match in the World Tag Team Championship tournament. Introducing first, at a combined weight of 487 pounds, Konnor & Viktor, The Ascension.

    Ranallo

Corey, it’s time for the first of our two semi-finals matches tonight in the Tag Team Title tournament.

    Graves

Yes it is and boy do The Ascension look ready. They have been looking great as of late, going back to the dominant team we saw down in NXT. This is not a team to take lightly. It looks like they are getting everything to click again and that spells bad news for the Smackdown tag team division.

    Ranallo

Konnor and Viktor have a huge opportunity ahead of them here. The longest reigning NXT Tag Team Champions have an chance here to go to Backlash and become the new World Tag Team Champions.

“Omen In The Sky” plays and out comes Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson holding up the “too sweet” signs to a cheering crowd.

    Hamilton

And their opponents, representing The Club, at a combined weight of 545 pounds, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

    Graves

They do, but first they need to get past a team you know very well Mauro, The Club.

    Ranallo

And that is no easy task. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were one of if not the best team in New Japan Pro Wrestling. They won the Tag Team Titles on three separate occasions and ran through every top team over there.

    Graves

I said from the beginning that The Club may be the favorites to win this whole tournament and with the performances they’ve had, it’s been tough to argue that.

Semi-Finals in World Tag Team Championship Tournament

    The Club vs. The Ascension

-The match starts with a back and forth brawl with Viktor and Anderson. The two of them then tag in their partners and Gallows and Konnor also battle back and forth, trying to out muscle the other. Gallows gains control for he and Anderson for a bit, but the Ascension use a double team attack behind the referee’s back to take control from the Club. They control a good portion of the match from there until Gallows is able to reverse and tag in Anderson. Anderson comes in full of energy, taking down both members of the Ascension. Anderson connects with a running jumping kick to the legal man Viktor and goes for the cover…1…2…Konnor breaks up the pin. Konnor beats on Anderson until Gallows comes in. The two big men exchange blows until Konnor clotheslines Gallows to the outside. Konnor and Viktor go to opposite corners waiting for Anderson to get to his feet, most likely setting up for the Fall Of Man. Gallows reaches from the outside under the ropes and grabs Konnor’s leg, tripping him to the mat and pulling him to the outside. Gallows connects with a Big Boot, taking Konnor down to the floor. Back in the ring, Viktor looks over at his partner but then tries to stay focused on Anderson in the ring. He runs at Anderson, but Anderson reverses with a huge DOUBLE A SPINEBUSTER! Gallows then gets up in the corner and Anderson tags him in. Gallows lifts Viktor up and he and Anderson connect with the MAGIC KILLER. Gallows goes for the cover…1…2…3. Gallows and Anderson win!

    Winners: The Club

    Hamilton

Here are your winners, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson!

    Ranallo

And just like that, Gallows and Anderson are in the finals of the World Tag Team Championship tournament.

    Graves

The Ascension put up a good fight, but like I said before, The Club is going to be a tough team to stop here on Smackdown.

    Ranallo

They look to follow in the fellow Club member AJ Styles’ footsteps and win a World Championship and they can do so this Sunday at Backlash.

    Graves

And we will find out later tonight who will join them.

A graphic appears on the screen for Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. American Alpha.

    Ranallo

That’s right. We will see the second semi-finals match here tonight when Enzo & Cass take on American Alpha.

A graphic appears on screen for Kevin Owens vs. Kane.

    Graves

And don’t forget our main event. Kevin Owens will take on “The Big Red Machine” Kane just five days from his World Title match here on Smackdown.

    **Commercial Break**

We cut backstage and see Sheamus, Rusev and Lana walking towards the ring. Byron Saxton catches up with them as they walk in the hallway.

    Saxton

Excuse me. Sheamus. Rusev. We learned earlier tonight that due to what happened last week, the two of you will take on Neville and Zack Ryder at Backlash this Sunday. What is your mindset going into this match?

    Sheamus

The same mindset we had last week and the same mindset I have right now going against Zack Ryder…

Sheamus stares down at Saxton which makes Saxton a bit nervous.

We’re going to destroy them and put the whole locker room on notice.

Sheamus pushes Saxton out of the way.

Now get out of my way! I have a head to kick off fella.

Sheamus continues walking with a purpose. Rusev and Lana follow behind him, giving a glare with attitude as they pass Saxton. We cut back to ringside.

    Graves

What a stupid question by Saxton. Sheamus is a former World Champion. He always has a winner’s mindset.

“Hellfire” plays and out comes Sheamus followed by Rusev and Lana cheering him on from behind as the crowd boos.

    Hamilton

The following contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, being accompanied by Rusev and Lana, from Dublin, Ireland, weighing in at 267 pounds, "The Celtic Warrior" Sheamus.

    Ranallo

Well Sheamus better not take Zack Ryder too lightly tonight or this Sunday because the same thing can happen to him that happened in the Tag Team Title tournament qualifying match.

    Graves

You mean getting cheated out of a victory and a rightful spot for a championship opportunity? Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again. Sheamus is a warrior. He is a man of honor and dignity and expects his opponents to be at the same level and not stoop to such low standards.

    Ranallo

Are we talking about the same person here?

“Radio” plays and out comes Zack Ryder followed by Neville behind him to a cheering crowd.

    Hamilton

And his opponent, being accompanied by Neville, from Long Island, NY, weighing in at 224 pounds, Zack Ryder.

    Ranallo

Here comes a man full of honor and dignity who has scratched and clawed for everything’s he’s gotten in this business.

    Graves

Zack Ryder is nothing but a disgrace. Just look at him. He dresses and acts like those regrets from the Jersey Shore. The people from that show don’t even act that like anymore because they know how stupid they looked.

    Ranallo

Say what you want about Zack Ryder, but he is a former Tag Team, United States, and Intercontinental Champion with the crowd solidly behind him everywhere he goes. Zack Ryder knows how to get it done in the ring.

    Sheamus vs. Zack Ryder

-The match starts with Sheamus and Ryder trading blows, with the brawler Sheamus getting the best of the exchange. Sheamus uses his strikes and power to control most of the match. Ryder ends up coming back, after reversing Sheamus in the corner and hitting him with a Missile Dropkick. Ryder fights back using his quickness. At a point, Ryder gets Sheamus down in the corner and stomps away at him. Ryder goes into the other corner and fist pumps as the crowd says “Woo! Woo! Woo!” along with him. Ryder runs at Sheamus and hits him with the Broski Boot! Ryder pulls him out of the corner and goes for the cover…1…2…Sheamus kicks out. Ryder gets back to his feet and holds out the LI hand sign, lining up Sheamus. Ryder runs at Sheamus and looks to go for the Rough Ryder, but Sheamus lifts him up and over his head. Sheamus turns around and nails Ryder with a hard forearm to the head. Ryder stumbles back off the ropes and comes back right into the Irish Curse Backbreaker by Sheamus. Sheamus goes for the cover…1…2…Ryder kicks out. Sheamus gets up and pounds his chest as he waits for Ryder to get to his feet. Ryder slowly gets up using the ropes. Sheamus runs at Ryder and goes for the Brogue Kick, but Ryder moves out of the way and quickly rolls up Sheamus with a school boy…1…2…3! Ryder gets the win!

    Winner: Zack Ryder

    Hamilton

Here is your winner, Zack Ryder!

    Ranallo

Zack Ryder gets the victory and Sheamus and Rusev are furious.

    Graves

As they should be. Yet again, Zack Ryder gets a cheap victory. I think he had a handful of Sheamus’ tights there.

    Ranallo

There was no handful of tights, but this Sunday it looks like Sheamus and Rusev will have their hands full when they take on Zack Ryder and Neville. Can this be a sign of things to come at Backlash?

    Graves

Oh please let’s not hope so.

We cut backstage where we see Byron Saxton in front of AJ Styles’ dressing room.

    Saxton

I’m here in front of the World Champion’s dressing room hoping to get a word from him ahead of his big match this Sunday.

Saxton knocks on the door. Styles opens the door.

Hi AJ. Can I have a moment of your time?

    Styles

    Sure Byron.

    Saxton

In just five days you will defend your World Heavyweight Championship for the first time and against Kevin Owens. After all we’ve seen from Kevin Owens, do you feel you have what it takes to defeat him on Sunday?

    Styles

Well I’ll say this… putting aside the disrespectful and self-entitled attitude; Kevin Owens is a great competitor. I won’t take that away from him. He calls himself a prize fighter, meaning he will do anything…

    Styles pauses.

And I mean anything to take this championship.

Styles holds up the World Title belt.

But I waited 18 years to hold this championship. I’m not giving it up that easily. Don’t think I forgot that he disrespected my friend and a legend in this business Christian as well as Mark Henry. I’m going to teach him a lesson in respect and bring his ego back down to Earth.

    Styles pauses.

Kevin Owens is going to give me one hell of a fight, but at Backlash he’s going to find out why they call me the Phenomenal One!

    Saxton

Thank you for your time AJ. Good luck this Sunday.

    Styles

    Thank you, Byron.

Styles goes back into his room and closes the door.

    **Commercial Break**

We return backstage and see Titus O’Neil talking to Mark Henry. Heath Slater comes up full of energy and the two stop talking and look at him.

    Slater

    Slater Gator babaay!

    Henry and O’Neil look annoyed.

    And Mark Henraaay!

    Henry doesn’t look too pleased.

    The World’s Strongest Man!

Slater touches his arm and Henry quickly pulls his arm away.

    Henry

Man what the hell is wrong with you?! Don’t touch me.

    Slater

Sorry, I wanted to see how big your arms were compared to mine.

    Slater flexes.

    I think we’re pretty close.

Henry looks annoyed at O’Neil, who is shaking his head.

    O’Neil

Um Heath, what do you want?

    Slater

I wanted to talk to my tag team partner.

    Henry

Ok I’ll leave you two alone then.

    Henry turns to O’Neil.

    Good luck with him.

    Henry walks away.

    O’Neil

    Look about this team thing…

    Slater

    I know… we’ve been on a roll babaay!

    O’Neil looks confused.

    First we eliminated that guy…

Points in the direction Henry went.

    Maybe that’s why he didn’t seem happy…

Slater stops and ponders for a second.

Anyway then we beat my former team the Social Outcasts and made it into the Tag Team Title tournament…

    Slater talks lower.

We did lose in the first round…

    Slater perks up again.

But then last week we beat former World Champion Roman Reigns. Slater Gator is on fire!

    O’Neil

    We won by disqualification.

    Slater

A win is a win. He did that because he knew you had him beat.

    O’Neil

I did have him in the palm of my hand.

    Slater

Exactly. And did you see how I stood up for you?

    O’Neil

You did… It was stupid, but you did stick up for me and I appreciate that.

O’Neil pats Slater on the back.

    Slater

That’s what tag team partners do. Just wait… so enough we will be World Tag Team Champions. I can feel it babaay!

    Unknown off screen

    Champions… I don’t think so

    Fandango then dances into frame.

    Fandango

You two really think you have mastered the dance of tag team wrestling?

    Fandango scoffs at them.

When you two are out there, you both have two left feet and step all over each other.

    O’Neil

Look who’s talking. I don’t see you in a perfect team. I don’t even see you with a partner.

    Fandango

This is not a race… I require the perfect partner to tango with as my search goes on.

    O’Neil

Well how about if you can find one, you take us on next week and you can see our team work?

    Fandango

    You’re on.

Fandango dances off screen. Slater turns to O’Neil excited.

    Slater

Let’s show him what Slater Gator is all about.

Slater puts his arms up and does the small dog bark.

    O’Neil

We still need to work on that.

    We cut back to ringside.

    Ranallo

Looks like the challenge is accepted for next week on Smackdown.

“Elite” plays and out comes a hyped up American Alpha to cheers from the crowd.

    Hamilton

The following tag team contest is scheduled for one fall and is a Semi-Finals match in the World Tag Team Championship Tournament. Introducing first, at a combined weight of 447 pounds, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, American Alpha.

    Ranallo

But right now, American Alpha looks ready for their biggest challenge to date.

    Graves

That’s right Mauro. In just their third match here on Smackdown, they have the opportunity to go to the tournament finals this Sunday for the World Tag Team Championships.

    Ranallo

We saw The Club’s Gallows and Anderson move on early tonight. Who will join them? Jordan and Gable look ready for the task at hand.

“SAWFT Is A Sin” plays and out comes Enzo Amore and Big Cass to a cheering crowd. Enzo runs around the stage and dances a bit before lifting up his microphone. Enzo looks out to the crowd and the whole crowd says his whole opening with him.

    Enzo

My name is Enzo Amore, and I am a certified G and a bonafied stud, and you can’t teach that.

    Enzo points at Cass.

And this right here, this is Big Cass, and he’s seven foot tall, and you can’t teach that.

    Cass

    Off the microphone

    Hit ‘em with it Zo.

    Enzo

Bada boom, realist guys in the room. How you doin’?!

The crowd starts chanting “How you doin’!” as Enzo dances.

Tonight is all about taking one more step towards the World Tag Team Championships. Now American Alpha… not gonna lie…

    Enzo pauses.

You two are pretty good. But tonight, you can call us a Philly cheese steak cause we’re hot and on a roll.

The Philly crowd cheers for the reference.

We came to play hard on the playground and we ain’t running off to Bellaire when it gets rough.

    Cass

    Forget Uncle Phil.

    Enzo

Philly is looking at the Fanatic and we’re going to fly like an Eagle to the finals of this tournament.

The crowd chants “How You Doin’!” as Enzo starts dancing again.

    Cass

And to any teams thinking they’re going to get in our way of becoming champions, well there’s only one word to describe you and I’m gonna spell it out for ya…

The crowd sings along as Cass and Enzo get into it.

    S…A…W…F…T… SAWFT!

    Graves

Tonight, I am the biggest American Alpha fan. Seeing someone like Enzo Amore fighting for the World Tag Team Championships would be such a disgrace.

Semi-Finals in World Tag Team Championship Tournament

Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. American Alpha

The match is back and forth between these two teams, with each getting about an even amount of offense. Towards the end of the match, Gable is down on the outside after suffering a beating from Cass. Cass and Jordan are the legal men and Cass has just hit him with the EAST RIVER CROSSING! Cass goes over to his corner and tags in Enzo, who gets up to the top rope as they look to be going for the Badda Boom Shakalaka. Just then, “WE’RE COMING DOWN” PLAYS. Enzo and Cass stop and their attention is towards the stage waiting for the Dudleys to come out. The music stops and no one comes out. Jordan gets up and grabs Cass from behind for a suplex, but Cass grabs onto the nearby top rope to prevent it. Cass switches the hold and slams Jordan to the mat. Cass tells Enzo, the legal man, to go back to the top rope. Cass grabs Enzo and launches him for the Badda Boom Shakalaka, but Jordan gets his knees up just as Enzo comes crashing down. Cass goes to try and check on his partner, but the referee tells him he needs to get out of the ring since he’s not the legal man. Cass gets out to the apron and just as he does, he’s Dropkicked off by Jordan, sending Cass crashing to the outside. Jordan grabs Enzo and tosses him into his corner. Jordan backs up, pulls down his straps and runs at Enzo in the corner, nailing him with a nasty Shoulder Trust. Gable is back on the apron and Jordan tags him in. Jordan sets Enzo up and American Alpha hit him with GRAND AMPLITUDE! Gable bridges into the cover…1…2…3. American Alpha win!

    Winners: American Alpha

    Hamilton

Here are your winners, American Alpha!

    Ranallo

American Alpha in less than a month on the main roster will now get a championship match this Sunday!

    Graves

A well-deserved win! You know I may have been saying The Club is the favorites, but the dark horses may have just shown they are on even playing field with them.

    Ranallo

I still would like to know as would Enzo and Cass I’m sure, why did the Dudleys’ music play?

    Graves

Who cares! The important thing is Enzo and Cass lost and we have a World Tag Team Championship match we can be proud of.

American Alpha celebrate up the ramp and to the back as Big Cass gets in the ring to check on Enzo. Just then, Cass is attacked from behind by the Dudleys who came out from the crowd. They beat down on Cass with clubbing blows and stomps.

    Ranallo

And of course now here come the Dudley Boyz, attacking from behind.

    Graves

Cass should have seen this coming. They gave them a few minute warning.

D-Von and Bubba stalk Cass as they hold up the 3D sign. Cass gets to a vertical base and turns around right into the 3D by the Dudleys!

    Ranallo

And the 3D to Big Cass, sending a statement him and Enzo.

The crowd boos as the Dudleys stand over the fallen Cass. Bubba then looks over at Enzo starting to get to his feet and tells D-Von to get behind him.

NO! Come on! This isn’t necessary!

Enzo turns around and gets hit with a 3D as well by the Dudleys! The Dudleys look down at the fallen team as Bubba yells out at the booing crowd.

    Bubba

    off microphone

We’re the greatest tag team of all time! Learn to respect us!

The Dudleys then leave the ring looking back at their handy work in the ring with smirks on their faces.

    Graves

There has never been anything more necessary! Enzo got what he deserved for running his mouth to two legends.

    Ranallo

The Dudleys are clearly still sour from losing to Enzo and Cass twice.

    Graves

They aren’t sour or sore losers Mauro. They are reminding Enzo, Cass and the whole tag team division just who they are!

    **Commercial Break**

We come back and we see a beat up but angry Enzo Amore and Big Cass walking with a purpose down the hallway back from the ring. Byron Saxton catches up with them.

    Saxton

Enzo. Cass. We just saw the Dudleys attack you both out there and cost you a shot at the World Tag Team Championships. We know you two have had your issues with them in the past…

    Enzo

The past… it seems like the Oldey Boyz are always stuck in past. Well Big Cass and live in the present and look towards the future. And in the future, I see an ass whopping for those geriatric furniture breakers.

    Enzo catches his breath.

Bubba, D-Von, you messed with the wrong guys on the wrong night.

    Cass

Dudley Boyz, if you want to step up to us, then do it to our faces this Sunday at Backlash.

Enzo and Cass walk away from Saxton.

    We cut back to ringside.

    Ranallo

You can’t blame Enzo and Cass for how they’re feeling right now.

    Graves

Yes you can. It’s all Enzo’s big mouth’s fault that they were even in that position. And now they want even more of a beating this Sunday? Fine by me. I’ll enjoy that.

“Worlds Apart” plays and out comes Sami Zayn to a huge ovation from the crowd.

    Hamilton

Please welcome to the ring, Sami Zayn.

    Ranallo

And speaking of this Sunday, this man Sami Zayn has possibly the biggest and most dangerous fights of his career.

    Graves

I don’t understand it. Every week I think there’s no way Sami Zayn can make a dumber decision and then he calls out Bray Wyatt, the most dangerous man in WWE today.

    Ranallo

Well after all the attacks and head games, Sami Zayn finally gets his hands on Bray Wyatt at Backlash.

    Graves

I think you mean Bray Wyatt gets his hands on Sami Zayn and dismantles him.

Zayn makes his way down the ramp and into the ring. He grabs a microphone as the crowd is doing the “Ole!” chants at him.

    Zayn

    Five days…

    Zayn pauses.

Just five more days until I finally get my hands on Bray Wyatt!

    The crowd cheers.

After almost two months of surprise attacks and cryptic messages, I get him in the ring face-to-face, one-on-one.

Zayn points down in the ring and pauses.

Now last week, Bray Wyatt said that Backlash will be a nightmare for me. That I have no idea what is coming. And he may be right.

The crowd boos a bit at Wyatt.

No one knows what to expect from Bray Wyatt ever. Anything can happen. But I’ll be anticipating surprises. I’ll be ready for anything he throws at me, because I don’t give up and I will not be intimidated!

The crowd cheers as Zayn gets more animated and excited.

This Sunday at Backlash, I enter not a match, but a war. A war with someone who thinks he’s a God. A war with someone who is one of the more dangerous men we’ve seen. But a war with someone I have beaten before.

    Zayn pauses.

And that’s what started this all. Bray Wyatt is obsessed with power and that obsession will be his downfall because I’m focused on one thing…

Zayn holds up one finger, pauses and looks into the camera with a serious look.

    REVENGE!

“Smack Down” plays and out comes Alex Maverick onto the stage to a cheering crowd. Zayn looks confused as Maverick makes his way down the ramp.

    Ranallo

Sami Zayn is focused on revenge this Sunday, but here comes our General Manager

    Graves

Let’s hope that it’s to talk some sense into Sami Zayn and cancel this match.

Maverick gets into the ring and grabs a microphone.

    Maverick

I’m sorry to interrupt Sami, but I think you’ll appreciate what I’m going to say.

Zayn nods and tells him to go ahead.

It’s no secret how I’ve felt about Bray Wyatt. I think he’s a tremendous talent which I why I drafted him in the first place. But like you said, his obsession with power has driven him mad.

    Maverick pauses.

Since this match was made, Shane and I have gone back and forth on what to do. Shane believes this match may be a mistake. That Bray Wyatt is too unpredictable for one man to handle. And you know what…

    Maverick pauses for a second.

    He may be right.

The crowd boos as they believe in Zayn.

I am not doubting your abilities Sami, but when it comes to Bray Wyatt as you’ve seen, anything is possible. He has so much at his disposal. But what if we even up the odds?

    Zayn seems intrigued.

Two weeks ago, you should with a steel chair in hand that you were ready for whatever Bray Wyatt threw at you that night. That steel chair evened up the odds and helped you deal with the surprise factor of Wyatt.

The crowd cheers remembering that moment.

Wyatt hasn’t followed the rules and at Backlash, I’m sure he still won’t follow the rules. So why should you?

    Zayn nods in agreement.

That’s why this Sunday at Backlash; it will be Bray Wyatt vs. Sami Zayn…

    Maverick pauses.

In a NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH!

Zayn smiles and looks excited about the announcement as does the crowd. He shakes Maverick’s hand as Maverick mouths to him “Good Luck!”

    Ranallo

What an announcement! Sami Zayn vs. Bray Wyatt is now a No Holds Barred match!

    Graves

Is Maverick trying to actively end Sami Zayn’s career?!

    Ranallo

Maverick trying to even the odds between Bray Wyatt and Sami Zayn this Sunday…

    Graves

Even the odds? He just ensured the biggest beat down of Sami Zayn’s career.

    Ranallo

It certainly will be a war now at Backlash between those two.

A graphic shows on the screen for Kevin Owens vs. Kane.

And Kevin Owens may be heading into a war tonight as he goes one-on-one with the monster Kane in our main event here on Smackdown.

    **Commercial Break**

We return backstage to see Alex Maverick walking in the hallway. All of a sudden, Shane McMahon comes up to him.

    McMahon

Hey what was that all about?

    Maverick

I told you last week I had an idea so I executed it. What… you don’t like it?

    McMahon

Well you’re putting an already dangerous Bray Wyatt into a more dangerous match so I’m not quite seeing how this helps.

    Maverick

Like I said out there, Bray Wyatt wasn’t going to play by the rules anyway. We saw that with his attacks and how he ignored our suspension. So I made it so Sami didn’t have to be constrained by the rules either.

    McMahon

I don’t think you realized the situation you just put Sami Zayn in. Trust me. When I was dealing with the…

    Maverick quickly cuts him off.

    Maverick

I’m going to cut you off there Shane. This is not someone else from your past. This is Bray Wyatt. We both have just as much experience dealing with him. You need to trust me on this. Whatever Bray Wyatt is going to do this Sunday, he was going to do anyway. As much as you think this match shouldn’t happen…

Maverick pauses and points to himself.

I want to give Sami Zayn a fighting chance at revenge!

Maverick continues to walk down the hallway as McMahon has a concerned look on his face.

    We cut back to ringside.

    Ranallo

Sounds like a little bit of a difference in opinion between our General Manager and Commissioner.

    Graves

I know our General Manager has done a good job so far, but I’m with Shane McMahon on this one. I’m not sure if this is the best thing for Sami Zayn.

“Recognition” plays and out comes Charlotte and Dana Brooke to boos from the crowd.

    Hamilton

The following tag team contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, the team of Charlotte and Dana Brooke.

    Graves

    All hail the Queen!

    Ranallo

Well last week, the “Queen” seemed bitter at a few comments made by Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch during your interview with them Corey.

    Graves

Look, of course I would’ve rather of have Charlotte there as I believe she deserves to be champion. I had to remain unbiased but that doesn’t mean she can’t voice her opinion… or as I like to call it the truth.

“Celtic Invasion” plays and the crowd cheers as Becky Lynch makes her way out.

    Hamilton

Their opponents, first, from Dublin, Ireland, Becky Lynch.

    Ranallo

Regardless of how you or Charlotte feels, it will be this woman, Becky Lynch, challenging this Sunday for the Womens World Championship.

    Graves

While I’ve never been the biggest Becky Lynch fan, I will say that last week I saw that fire in her eyes. She is ready to give it her all at Backlash. But the question is will it be enough to dethrone the Womens Champion?

“Sky’s The Limit” plays and the crowd cheers as Sasha Banks makes her way out onto the stage.

    Hamilton

And her partner, from Boston, MA, the Womens World Champion, Sasha Banks.

    Ranallo

As you say that Corey, the champion seemed to have a fire in her eyes as well.

    Graves

Yes she did. You could tell from her answers last week to my question about being a fluke that she’s out to prove this Sunday that SummerSlam wasn’t a lucky night but that she is worthy of being champion.

    Ranallo

The question here tonight is with such a huge match five days away for both women, can they be a cohesive team?

Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch

The match starts with a back and forth between Becky and Charlotte. Charlotte takes advantage for a bit before tagging in Dana. Dana keeps control for a little before Becky reverses and gets the momentum on her side. Sasha and Becky tag in and out performing moves on Dana seemingly to one-up each other. Dana eventually takes advantage of their competitiveness and manages to get Charlotte back in, who beats up Sasha. She keeps control with Dana by isolating Sasha in their corner. Sasha fights out of the corner and tags Becky in. Becky comes in taking out Dana, the legal woman. Becky nails her with the Becksplex and looks to go for the Dis-Arm-Her before Charlotte runs in and attacks Becky, knowing what was coming. Sasha gets in and goes after Charlotte, who tosses Sasha to the outside onto the apron. Charlotte goes for a Big Boot, but Sasha pulls the rope down causing Charlotte to go over the top rope and to the floor. Charlotte gets right up and grabs Sasha’s leg, but Sasha kicks her off of her. Sasha lines up Charlotte and jumps off connecting with the Double Knee Attack to her. Back in the ring, Dana has Becky up on her shoulders, but Becky elbows her way out of it. Becky grabs Dana’s arm and takes her down to the mat immediately and locks in the DIS-ARM-HER! Dana reaches out for the ropes but isn’t near them. With Charlotte out on the outside, Dana is forced to tap out, giving Becky and Sasha the win!

Winners: Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch

    Hamilton

Here are your winners, Becky Lynch and the Womens World Champion, Sasha Banks!

    Ranallo

It was a bit rocky for a bit, but Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch pulled out the victory.

    Graves

But let it be known, they didn’t beat the Queen.

The referee is given the Womens World Championship to give to Sasha, but Becky takes it from him and stares down at it in her hands.

    Ranallo

Becky taking the championship… could this be what we see on Sunday?

Sasha gets into the ring and steps up to Becky. Sasha puts her hand on her championship. Becky looks up at Sasha and hands it over to Sasha.

    Graves

Oh man! This is what I like to see Mauro! You can feel the tension in the air.

Sasha holds the championship high in the air as she stares down Becky, who is signaling around her waist for the title.

    Ranallo

These two are both out to prove something at Backlash, but only one can walk away the Womens World Champion.

    Graves

These two are going to give everything they’ve got.

“Stick To Your Guns” by Sick Puppies plays as a graphic for the Womens World Title match at Backlash comes on the screen.

    Ranallo

Well these two women won’t have to wait long. In just 5 days they will go one-on-one for the Womens World Championship. From what we’ve seen, it will be an absolute battle for that title, but who will walk out the champion this Sunday?

A graphic for Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. the Dudley Boyz at Backlash comes on the screen.

After being cost their semi-finals match in the tournament earlier tonight by the Dudley Boyz, and angry Enzo and Cass challenged the tag team legends and we now know that the challenge has been accepted and made official for Backlash. Will Enzo and Cass win three straight or will the third time be the charm for the 9 time WWE World Tag Team Champions?

A graphic for Rusev & Sheamus vs. Neville & Zack Ryder at Backlash comes on the screen.

    Graves

Speaking of the Tag Team Title tournament, that’s where this match all began. Neville and Ryder defeated Rusev and Sheamus in the qualifying match under unfair tactics took matters into their own hands last week to right that wrong by taking them out of the tournament. They will now face off at Backlash to finish this bad blood. Will Neville and Ryder get lucky once again or will Rusev and Sheamus do what they set out to and put the locker room on notice?

A graphic for the World Tag Team Title match at Backlash comes on the screen.

    Ranallo

We talked about how important this tournament has been to the teams here on Smackdown, but after weeks of competition, we know have the two teams that will compete in the finals this Sunday. It will be The Club’s Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson taking on the new comers from NXT, American Alpha. Will The Club prove why they were the greatest team in Japan or will American Alpha continue their roll and claim the World Tag Team Championships?

A graphic for the Intercontinental Title match at Backlash comes on the screen.

    Graves

It will be a triple threat match for one of the most historic and prestigious titles in WWE history. Roman Reigns, Apollo Crews and Finn Balor will all battle it out to claim the vacant Intercontinental Championship. I was in the ring earlier with all three men and you can tell that they will all do whatever it takes to win this championship. They all have something to prove but which one of them will add the Intercontinental Championship to their resume?

A graphic for the Bray Wyatt vs. Sami Zayn at Backlash comes on the screen.

    Ranallo

Our General Manager dropped a big announcement on us earlier tonight when he made the match between Bray Wyatt and Sami Zayn a No Holds Barred match. He says it was to even the odds up for Sami Zayn against an unpredictable Bray Wyatt. With all that Wyatt has done to Sami Zayn the last two months, he can’t wait to get some retribution, but with no rules officially, did Bray Wyatt just become too dangerous for Sami Zayn to handle?

A graphic for the World Heavyweight Title match at Backlash comes on the screen.

    Graves

And it will be AJ Styles’ first title defense as he puts the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against the prize fighter Kevin Owens. Owens has felt he deserves the championship from the very beginning and finally has his chance to claim the ultimate prize. But can he do it or will AJ Styles show Kevin Owens why he was the hottest free agent this year and why he’s called the “Phenomenal One?”

We cut backstage to see Kevin Owens walking in the hallway to the ring.

    Ranallo

Well before he gets to prove he deserves the World Championship, Kevin Owens has to go through a former World Champion in the Big Red Machine. It’s Owens vs. Kane next.

    **Commercial Break**

We return with the Wyatt interruption video playing. We then see a dark, smoke filled room with Bray Wyatt sitting in his rocking chair.

    Wyatt

    No holds barred… anything goes…

    Wyatt smirks.

The sweet words to my ears. You see, you may think that the odds are evened up now…

    Wyatt laughs sinisterly.

But they’re not. All you did was give me extra fuel to add to the fire this Sunday.

    Wyatt pauses.

What was going to be just a nightmare will now turn into Sami Zayn’s own personal apocalypse.

Wyatt leans forward in his chair.

You may think you know how surprising I can be… but you have no idea what is coming this Sunday.

Wyatt pauses as he gets a more serious look on his face.

At Backlash, say goodbye to Sami Zayn as I draw one step closer to the “great power!”

Wyatt stands up and holds his arms out. He stares right into the camera with a scary, serious face.

    RUN!

The Wyatt interruption video plays again and the screen goes black.

    We cut back to ringside.

    Graves

I told you! Sami Zayn better think twice before stepping into the ring on Sunday.

“Fight” plays and out comes Kevin Owens as the crowd boos loudly.

    Hamilton

The following contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, from Marieville, Quebec, Canada, weighing in at 266 pounds, Kevin Owens.

    Ranallo

Well let’s try to regroup after that as we get ready for our main event tonight, which was brought about after this man, Kevin Owens complained to our General Manager at the beginning of the show.

    Graves

After what happened last week, he had every right to complain. And what happens? He gets put into a match against Kane just five days before his World Heavyweight Championship match.

    Ranallo

Maybe Owens shouldn’t run his mouth then. Maverick told Kevin Owens to show just how good he is tonight by taking on a former World Champion.

Fire pyro goes off on the stage. “Veil Of Fire” plays and out comes Kane to cheers from the crowd.

    Hamilton

And his opponent, weighing in at 323 pounds, Kane.

    Ranallo

And it will not be an easy task as he faces “The Big Red Machine” Kane.

    Graves

We haven’t seen Kane in quite some time but I can assure you, he is every bit as dangerous. Kevin Owens certainly won’t be taking him lightly.

    Ranallo

As he shouldn’t. Kevin Owens will be in for a rough night if he looks past Kane and only towards AJ Styles tonight.

    Kevin Owens vs. Kane

Right out of the gate, Owens goes on the attack of Kane. Owens clubs away at him and runs off the ropes at him, but Kane counters with a stiff uppercut, allowing Kane to take control. Kane lays in a bunch of strikes and hits Owens with a few power moves for near falls. Kane is beating down Owens in the corner until the referee tells him to get off before a count of five. Kane goes back to grab Owens, but Owens grabs Kane by the tights and pulls him into the corner, face first into the middle turnbuckle. Owens takes control, punching a stomping away on Kane, following up with a Cannonball attack. Owens maintains control, getting a few near falls on Kane. After multiple near falls, Owens starts to get frustrated. Owens gets Kane to the top rope and looks for some sort of superplex from the top rope, but Kane battles his way out of it and shoves Owens to the mat. Owens gets up and Kane jumps off the top rope nailing him with his patented Flying Clothesline. Kane then stalks Owens, pulling his glove on tight. Kane grabs Owens by the throat, looking to go for a Chokeslam, but Owens kicks Kane in the knee, taking him down to a knee. Owens then nails Kane in the gut with a Superkick and then lines up again and hits Kane in the face with a Superkick, causing the Big Red Monster to stumble back to the ropes. Owens grabs Kane and tosses him off the ropes. As Kane comes back, Owens nails him with an emphatic POP-UP POWERBOMB! Owens goes for the cover…1…2…3. Owens wins!

    Winner: Kevin Owens

    Hamilton

Here is your winner, Kevin Owens!

    Ranallo

A big win for Kevin Owens going into this Sunday’s championship match.

    Graves

That it was. He just defeated a former World Champion in Kane. Not an easy task. Kevin Owens just proved to the world, including AJ Styles that he’s ready to take that World Heavyweight Championship.

    Ranallo

But can he defeat AJ Styles when it counts at Backlash?

    Graves

    Of course he can.

Owens grabs a microphone as he’s catching his breath.

    Owens

    Did you see that?

Owens pauses to catch his breath some more.

Did you see what I just did to the “Big Red Monster?”

    Owens pauses.

I destroyed him! I just destroyed a former World Champion…

The crowd boos as Owens pauses.

Just like I did two weeks ago when I destroyed Mark Henry…

    The crowd boos even more.

Just like when I destroyed the pathetic legacy of Christian with one kick…

The crowd boos louder at Owens, who continues to ignore them.

And just like this Sunday when I destroy another FORMER World Champion in AJ Styles!

Just then “Phenomenal” plays and out comes AJ Styles to a cheering crowd. Styles walks out onto the stage with a microphone in hand.

    Styles

Kevin, you talk a big game, but talk is cheap. You think you’re going to destroy me at Backlash?

    Styles pauses.

    Why wait till Sunday?!

Styles drops the microphone and makes a b-line for the ring where Owens is waiting for him.

    Ranallo

And AJ Styles wants to fight five days early.

Styles gets into the ring and Owens goes right onto the attack of Styles with a running kick and stomping him to the mat.

    Graves

Kevin Owens taking advantage right away. Was this a smart decision by AJ Styles?

Owens yells out to the crowd that he’s the next champion. Owens lifts Styles up, but Styles breaks free of his grasp and connects with a few quick strike combinations, ending with a spinning back elbow that sends Owens falling to the mat and rolling under the ropes to the outside.

    Ranallo

    Owens treating now.

Owens holds the side of his face and looks to be retreating, but Styles follows him to the outside and continues the attack with a clothesline from behind, sending Owens over the barricade into the stands.

But Styles isn’t done just yet.

Styles gets up on the barricade, waits for Owens to get up and jumps off the barricade onto Owens. Styles stays on him and continues with a few punches to the head.

He wants to shut Kevin Owens up for all the disrespectful things he’s said over the last few weeks.

Styles lifts Owens up, but Owens gets a thumb to the eye of Styles, allowing him to break free. Owens grabs Styles and tosses him into the wall by the elevated section of the stands.

    Graves

This is what AJ Styles should be afraid of.

Owens grabs Styles and tosses him over the guard rail by the side of the stage. Owens goes over the guard rail, grabs Styles and drags him into the backstage area.

Owens looks like he isn’t done, which could be bad news for the champion so close to Backlash. He may live to regret this decision.

We cut backstage to see Owens slamming Styles head on the production equipment boxes and tossing him into anything he sees as he continues to talk trash to Styles. Owens goes to walk over towards Styles, but Styles takes one of those equipment boxes and shoves it into Owens. Styles then grabs Owens and tosses him into nearby stack of steel poles against the wall. Styles grabs a small equipment box and slams it against Owens’ back. Styles lays in a few strikes on Owen’s back before tossing him ahead through a doorway. Styles follows and goes to grab Owens, but Owens grabs a nearby lead pipe and hits Styles in the gut with it and then over the back.

    Owens

You think you’re better than me?! Huh AJ?

Owens grabs Styles and tosses him into a nearby cage door. Owens yells at Styles mockingly.

    Come on champ!

Owens grabs Styles and tosses him across a table filled with equipment and supplies. Owens lifts up Styles by the head and yells in his face.

You’re looking at the next World Heavyweight Champion!

Owens lifts Styles up and Powerbombs him through the table. Owens stares down at the fallen Styles with a smirk on his face. Finally security, referees and other wrestlers come over pulling Owens away and checking on Styles.

    Owens

He doesn’t look so phenomenal now does he?!

The security yells at Owens to get away as the doctors, Anderson and Gallows check on Styles. We fade out with a shot on the fallen Styles.
