2017 NFL Season Thread - Week 2: Krispy Kareem

It's time again as the juggernaut of the NFL returns to interfere in the American consciousness yet again. The season officially starts tonight with the Chiefs taking on the Patriots in a somewhat random matchup. For the rest of our teams they kick off on Sunday. How do you guys feel about your respective teams and the league at large this year?

I've been doing a bit of casual research heading into the season and have some predictions before we bang bang shoot on the season. For the Panthers I'm actually feeling pretty confident since last season was a lot of bad luck and we've made some pretty smooth signings for once. The disaster of firing the GM a week before preseason & bringing in a man who thinks having 2 kickers is a good idea back worries me though. Here's my predictions for the season this year.

    AFC:
    East:
    Patriots: 13-3
    Dolphins: 9-7
    Bills: 8-8
    Jets: 2-14

    South:
    Titans: 10-6
    Texans: 6-10
    Jaguars: 5-11
    Colts: 4-12

    North:
    Steelers: 13-3
    Bengals: 10-6
    Ravens: 10-6
    Browns: 2-14

    West:
    Raiders: 10-6
    Chiefs: 10-6
    Broncos: 9-7
    Chargers: 6-10

    NFC:
    East:
    Giants: 9-7
    Cowboys: 9-7
    Redskins: 7-9
    Eagles: 6-10

    South:
    Panthers: 12-4
    Falcons: 11-5
    Saints: 9-7
    Bucs: 7-9

    North:
    Packers: 12-4
    Vikings: 10-6
    Lions: 9-7
    Bears: 6-10

    West:
    Seahawks: 12-4
    Cardinals: 9-7
    Rams: 4-12
    49ers: 4-12

    -

    Playoffs:
    1st Round:
Titans over Chiefs (Also predict TGO will predict a big Chiefs run and say that I'm too hard on Alex Smith)
    Raiders over Bengals
    Packers over Vikings
    Falcons over Giants
    -
    2nd Round:
    Patriots over Titans
    Steelers over Raiders
    Panthers over Falcons
    Packers over Seahawks
    -
    Steelers over Patriots
    Panthers over Packers
    -
    Super Bowl: Panthers over Steelers

I'll gladly admit I'm wrong if it's the case but for now I'll just lulz at the Giants or the Panthers making the Super Bowl.

Personally I think the Raiders will do big things this season. I'm optimistic that the Bucs will too but don't quote me on that.

The Panthers have a better roster now than when they went 15-1 and the Super Bowl like 18 months ago tbf, don't know why that's lulz. If they get rid of Gano I'll be extra confident.

The Bucs are a popular sleeper team this year but I'm hesitant to crown them in that division and a recent history of underachieving. I think the Raiders are definitely playoff caliber and will win the division.

At the very least they won't lose in week one so you've got that going for you.

    -
    Steelers over Patriots
    Panthers over Packers
    -
    Super Bowl: Panthers over Steelers

You were +14 on your records, from my math. Would have to change seven wins into losses to balance it.

Graves was -12, so he needs 6 more wins.

    AFC East
    Z-New England 12-4
    Miami 8-8
    Buffalo 7-9
    NYJ 4-12

    AFC South
    Y-Houston 9-7
    Tennessee 7-9
    Jacksonville 7-9
    Indianapolis 6-10

    AFC North
    Z-Pittsburgh 12-4
    X-Baltimore 9-7
    Cincinatti 6-10
    Cleveland 5-11

    AFC West
    Y-Kanas City 10-6
    X-Oakland 9-7
    San Diego 8-8
    Denver 8-8

    NFC East
    Y-NYG 10-6
    Dallas 8-7-1
    Washington 8-8
    Philadelphia 7-8-1

    NFC South
    Y-Tampa Bay 10-6
    X-Atlanta 10-6
    Carolina 9-7
    New Orleans 8-8

    NFC North
    Z-Packers: 13-3
    X-Vikings: 9-7
    Lions: 7-9
    Bears: 6-10

    NFC West
    Z-Seahawks 11-5
    Cardinals: 6-10
    Rams: 4-12
    49ers: 2-14

Theory for this season (and most seasons)

There are four good teams (NE, Pitt, GB, and Seattle) and four bad teams (S.F., L.A. Rams, Cleveland, and NY Jets). The other 24 are average and fall between 6-10 and 10-6, either getting the bounce in a couple games, going flat, or getting unlucky.

    WC Round
    Falcons defeat Bucs
    Giants defeat Vikings
    Kansas City defeats Oakland
    Baltimore defeats Houston

    Divisional Round
    New England defeat Kansas City
    Pittsburgh defeats Baltimore
    Green Bay defeats Atlanta
    NY Giants defeat Seattle

    Conference Championships
    Pittsburgh defeats New England
    Green Bay defeats NY Giants

    Super Bowl
    Pittsburgh defeats Green Bay

Re: 2017 NFL Season Thread - Week 1: Begin Again

I'm so psyched for the Regular Season to start and I'm really on the edge to whether watch Pats/Chiefs tonight over GFW Impact that's how hype I am right now. Woah you guys are no selling my Eagles like for real lol. The Redskins got worse losing Garcon and DeSean Jackson and their replacements aren't going to shock the world. I'm iffy on that defense as well so my Eagles should beat them down, because NFC East Battles are always gong to be close. I mean my Eagles improved at the WR Position and on the Defensive Line, and got better at Corner. Cox and Jerrigan are top of the best DT's in the league love how those guys are already getting that chemistry together when one guy misses their Sack legit you won't get away from the other one. Barnett our Rookie DL had 3-4 Sacks in the Preseason and I think one of the game he had two in the same so were getting better at that position as well. If theirs one weakness we have is the Offensive Line that had troubles in the Preseason just hope they get it together, because when Wentz had time he tore it up out there with the weapons he has. LASTLY SOMEONE STEP UP AT RB we should of drafted Dixon and could of gotten a DL later in the draft.

If I had to guess no numbers but I say the Giants or Eagles will win the Division because the loss of Elliot is going to hurt them and the most they could ask as a team is to go 3-3 before he comes back.

That Kareem Hunt tho...he was something else in that game.

Pretty fucking hilarious though that New England lost the game after allowing the Chiefs to go on (wait for it)......a 28-3 run. You seriously can't make this shit up...

Yeah with all that young talent is the real deal, with their great defense too they could do some great things this Season. The Chiefs are taking a hit though losing one of their leaders on the Defense Eric Berry is gone for the Season from his Achilles Injury.

Kareem Hunt was the highlight of the night no doubt. 246 yards from the line of scrimmage in his first ever NFL regular season game's what really impressed me. Hunt's gonna be something special in the future.

Without Berry, I hope the Chiefs defense continues to give the offenses nightmares as they did last night.

I'm going to start calling Wentz, Carson Houdini because damn more and more he's getting good at getting away from pressure and making a play. TD Eagles and wow Nelson Agholor finally caught a ball when it mattered!

Take this game with a grain of salt, they're playing the same old shitty Redskins.

It's cool to see that Cousins used the entire offseason to forget how to throw a remotely accurate pass.
