Only drank about twice in the last month and a half.

Been vegan now for 2 months.

Lost about 25 lbs, and feel the best I have in ages. :3

How you finding the change in diet?

Was looking back at some of the intermittent fasting stuff you guys mentioned and gonna experiment with it slowly. My only concern about it is the weight loss as I cannot afford to drop any tbh.

Well, I was vegetarian for quite a few years back when I was younger. I've gone vegan a few times for weight loss, and it works quite well.

Intermittent fasting seems like a really solid choice.

Personally, I'm not a fan of keto. Mostly due to it's issues with cholesterol raising, and that a diet high in fats and red meats leads to arteriosclerosis. That, and it kind of reeks of trend diet that people yo-yo on and off of, and blimp back up.

That being said, I have some friends whom it has worked amazing for and have lost a great deal of weight, and kept it off. I also have some who it didn't work well for. I think it's all about finding what diet works best for you, and what you can be consistent in.

I can't find a lot of solid science behind IF which makes me think it's somewhat trendy too. At least cutting back animal produce has that to back it up. Read nothing but negative stuff about keto though.

    Re: Bodybuilding and Fitness

The majority of stuff supporting keto is all bro science.

Consuming massive amounts of saturated fats and red meats is not a long term healthy thing to do.

People can boast about the weight loss, but also must remember a ton of people lost a great deal of weight on shit like The Cookie Diet.

Kevin Smith also lost a ton of weight on a potato diet. Doesn't make it healthy.

    Re: Bodybuilding and Fitness

There's plenty of research supporting high fat, moderate protein diets. The saturated fat = weight gain and heart disease is an outdated claim and goes back decades to doctors who were paid off. If it's something you're interested in learning about I'd recommend really looking into it because it's pretty fascinating.

It's pretty well established and not just something paid off that high levels of animal fats lead to arteriosclerosis, man.

    Re: Bodybuilding and Fitness

It's really not but ok. It's a fascinating story which is why I suggested looking into it.

The majority of people who end up having problems are eating high fat AND high carb. The latest research over the past few years has really put that discussion into context. It's not just animal protein or animal fat or this or that. It's a combination of high fat AND high carbs.

That's obviously why ketogenic diets tend to do well for most. Along with the benefits for people with diabetes and seizures and things of that nature.

    Re: Bodybuilding and Fitness

I mean, you can find a ton of articles by doctors on both sides of the issue, to be entirely fair.

But honestly, ketobros seem almost more militant than vegans.

I would've thought a Keto diet's biggest stumbling block would be the potential to develop major Liver issues as well as messing with Insulin.

    Ketobros and zealots are awful.

But the diet is legit and there's a lot of research behind it. Don't let the freaks bother you. I've actually stepped away from it because my job is so demanding I need more carbs but I believe the diet is exceptional and also cheap without needing any weird shit.

I'm not doubting that it can be done healthy, either.

I've seen a few friends do it the right way, and have amazing results. But the issue I have is when I see what they call "Dirty Keto". Good grief, just bacon grease galore and kraft singles.

It's the same with many things, though. Look at vegetarians and vegans. I've gone vegan / veg numerous times to lose weight and for a myriad of reasons, and I think it's great. But there are some total dicks who are vegans and complete militants.

    Bad apple / bunch situation.

    Re: Bodybuilding and Fitness

Keto really is as simple as bacon, cheese and avocados for the most part. Getting into nutritional ketosis requires patience and fortitude more than anything. Bacon grease is disgusting but it won't kill you outright. If you're overeating you'll run into problems but following the core of the ketogenic diet and you're good. If someone is eating a pound of bacon everyday and whole packs of cheese then they'll definitely be more adverse to the downslope.

    Re: Bodybuilding and Fitness

    I said a bit over.

Looks like it was actually just over 2 months, I lost track of when I started.

By the way, Im pretty sure over 20 of that was just water weight. I was drinking every other day (About 1,500 calories worth of beer at least) and eating junk food snacks all day. Now I walk/jog regularly, eat mostly nuts, salads, and whole grain pasta. I drink a half gallon of water a day, and cut out soda. Also I only drink once or twice a month, and less than I was.

I doubt I'll continue losing much. Also, tried a different scale and it said 187, so Im pretty sure my scale at the house was just being generous. But still, quite impressed with it. But yeah, it was mostly water weight. :P

    Re: Bodybuilding and Fitness

I've been struggling for awhile with my weight now mainly due to not being able to commit to a healthy lifestyle. For no other reason but because I'm lazy and hungry. I've decided to take what is considered a huge jump for me, and I've set up a public instagram account to track my fitness journey. I'm going to post some really embarrassing topless photos as well as my weight 124.4kgs and begin tracking my journey.

A huge jump for me as I'm kind of a shy person but I'm looking at 1) holding myself accountable and 2) doing some studying as I go and potentially developing a program that can help others moving forward. All that is obviously a long way off but I've got to start somewhere.

Anyway, this shit's been getting me really depressed and it's time for me to take action. If anybody wants to give the page a follow, I'd appreciate the support. Insta handle is @stojfit

    How's it going Stojy?

It's London Marathon ballot results week, it's a small thing but it has the potential to shape the next 6 months of my life. Odds are ridiculously small and part of me doesn't wanna get through. Still, couldn't turn it down if I somehow got in!
