After Meeting Mick Foley Last Week, I Met His Manager Who Had A Lot To Say About WWE

Okay, so me and my older brother attended Over The Top Wrestling's 'WrestleRama' down in Belfast last week. Such a great night, with a great atmosphere that I imagine was like an old ECW show haha. I'm not even kidding. Some of the things I saw last night were unreal. I had a meet and greet ticket to meet Mick Foley, and I met a bunch of others too (Joey Ryan, Tyler Bate, Pete Dunne - I even held the UK belt haha, Matt Sydal, etc.). However, I missed 30 minutes of the show as me and my brother went outside for a cigarette. We noticed this bald guy that was standing beside Foley the whole time we had met Mick. Believe it or not, he approached us.

He's a guy from Belfast (you could tell by the accent haha) and just came over, pointed at our shirts, and said 'you's are both clearly Foley fans'. We laughed as he shook our hands, and said he was Mick's manager. I honestly think he was a bit drunk, but I can't confirm that ha. I said 'oh yeah, I seen you with him the whole time!' and he just laughed. Without even asking, he pulled out his iPhone and showed me the conversations he/Mick had been having the last few weeks on WhatsApp, as well as conversations he's had with DDP, Booker T, Al Snow etc., who he also manages.

IIRC, I just replied 'holy shit, that's so cool!'. He just laughed and said 'Aye, you never know who you're standing beside! Haha'. Anyway, he asked us what we thought of the current WWE product. Me and my brother just replied 'eh, shit' or 'could be better'. He laughed, and said 'it's in the total shitter right now lads', and then he began to talk for ages, and this is where this thread basically begins as he revealed A LOT. I'll break it down into points.

    - He showed me a lot of messages and contacts on his phone. He said he hasn't watched the WWE product properly in two years because of how bad it is, and honestly believes they're in so much bother right now. 'That budget they showed us recently, that's only what they wanted you to believe. I think it's a lot worse than that. Even Dallas Page told me that over the phone'. He said he actually told Vince this back in 2014 at a RAW show which Booker had invited him to (he told me that him and Booker are quite close) and Vince just simply looked at him and walked off without saying anything. He stated that all Vince sees is money signs, and doesn't need our input anymore as he's made his cash, and there's no proper competition. 'Even Mick was saying to me a few days ago when we had this conversation. Vince doesn't give a shit anymore. He just does what he wants and fuck everyone else'. He then told me that Mick was offered a deal to stay on as GM, but turned it down as ‘he hated the place, and hated how controlled it has got. When he went back, he couldn’t believe some of the stuff he was being made to do. He tried to tell them that it sucked, but they just wouldn’t listen’. He told me that ‘Holy Foley’ on the Network won’t be renewed and that ‘you heard it from me first! Mick only done that shit for Noelle anyway. Budget cuts and all that shit’.

    - According to him, ‘Mick tells me there’s a really big power struggle right now between Haitch and Shane. I’ve tried to get a bit out of Booker at times, but he won’t let anything slip haha. I like some of the stuff that Haitch has been doing with NXT and that, but he doesn’t have a clue how to run a company like WWE, and is just a ‘yes’ man to oul’ Vince. If Shane gets in there, folk have been telling me that he’d change the entire management system, and go in a much different and better direction that they’re going in right now. Shane wants his slice of the pie, and that’s why he’s back. Mick tells me that Haitch is sweating about it’.

    - I brought up that compared to WWE, there was no real competition, which he sorta agreed with. He told me that him, Mick, Booker, Bushwacker Luke and all ‘love New Japan Pro Wrestling, but they’re light years away from WWE yet. TNA had potential but Mick left there before the ship sank. I attended two tapings there backstage y’know when Mick invited me to be there. I met Dixie. Lovely lady, just didn’t have a clue how to run things, and all the talent knew it.’

    - After the first cigarette, he asked me who my favourite wrestler was. I obviously replied 'Hulk Hogan'. He blew an absolute gasket here, which I just laughed at, and immediately had to puff another cigarette. He told me, 'Kid, if you knew the man behind the Hulk Hogan character, you'd fucking hate that man. I've known Terry since 1990 and he was a piece of shit then, and he's a piece of shit now'. I asked him how, and he gave a long, interesting story. He said, 'Let me give you an example. When the whole racism thing came out, Booker immediately called me and asked if I had Terry's number, and I said I did'. He then pulled out his phone AND SHOWED ME THE NUMBER. I tried to memorize it and failed...anyway...'I asked Book why he wanted it, and he told me it was so he could have Hulk come onto his podcast, and give his side of the story...well, when Hulk found out that it was 'The Northern Irish Leprechaun' who gave out his number to Book, he immediately phoned me for the first time in about six or seven years'. At this point, he took a quick phone call, but then came back, and said 'oh yeah, Hulk went absolutely ballistic at me. He shouted over the phone saying 'WHY THE FUCK DID YOU GIVE OUT MY NUMBER, BROTHER?', 'Do you think I'm some sort of racist?', 'I never called anyone a black bastard' etc. 'Simply I told Hulk the story that Book wanted his number, and Hulk wouldn't hear a damn thing about it, stating that he wasn't going to cater to 'haters'', and that he was a good man.’ I told him that maybe there were two sides to a story, being the Hogan mark I am but he then said, ‘oh, he’s a good man? Then tell me this. I made Hulk a big offer a few years ago to switch on the Christmas lights in Blackpool over in England. I can’t tell you the stuff we offered him, but it was massive, and more than I ever offered to Austin or Bret Hart to do in the past when it came to similar stuff. Quite a lot of that money on that deal was to go to charity. He told me that it was nowhere near good enough, and he just kept wanting more and more, until I got so fed up that I told him to fuck himself, and just gave up on the idea. I didn’t hear from him again until the whole Booker stuff. Hulk loves to say he’s a Christian and all these days, but it’s all bullshit. He knows what he’s doing.’ I asked him about Bret but he just said 'I haven't really had much involvement with Bret. I've met him a few times and organised an event with him once, but I wasn't attending it. Seems like a lovely man though. Everyone I'm big with seem to have good words about him'. He told me that Austin is 'the loveliest man in the business'.

    - He stated he managed Kurt Angle between 2005 - 2008, and said he still tries to keep in contact with him. He said Kurt had been through such a hard time with his ex-wife and the whole Jarrett stuff, and thinks even when Kurt made up with them, it still hurt him for years and took a while to get over. He said he hasn't spoken to him in a while but seen he's back with WWE and is dying to know what he thinks of this Jason Jordan storyline.

    - He talked more about Booker T and his friendship with him. Told me he’s been managing Booker and DDP since 1995, as well as Stevie Ray. Told me that Stevie is in a good place in his life now, and basically concentrates on his and Booker’s wrestling school, and that Stevie is very proud of the fact that three performers from there are now in the WWE. He showed me some of the messages he’d sent to Booker, including one from a few months ago. The manager told me that during WrestleMania, he texted Booker during the HHH/Rollins match saying ‘this is shite’, and Booker immediately replied back with ‘I know it is, but no comment’. He told me that Booker is very shocked at how much the WWE is being handled right now, and ‘is looking to leave there as soon as his deal runs out. You heard it from me first. He’s actually a bit desperate to leave there right now. From what he told me, he’s looking to gather up a bit of money first before leaving, even though he kinda hates working there right now’.

    - After this, I just asked him ‘who were dicks in the business, then?’. He immediately responded with ‘JR’. He told me that ‘aside from guys like Austin, Flair, Patterson etc. everyone hates JR. Even Vince hates JR, and that’s a pretty well known fact in that company. There was an episode a few years ago where I tried to shake JR’s hand, and he just looked at me and walked on. Mick says he’s like that a lot in private’. Whilst I took this in, he told me a funny story. ‘There was a day where JR fell down a small set of stairs, and no one helped him up, and laughed at him instead, because he’s a fuckin’ prick’. He then stated that Matt Hardy ‘is the biggest cock in the planet, which is strange because Jeff is a lovely person. There was a time years ago in 2003 or some shite like that where Matt wanted me as his manager. I contacted him and he got back to me three months later. When I replied to him, he replied to me six months later. Just a shitty way to do business. Last I seen him he was in TNA a few years ago, and I haven’t watched him in ages, but I’ve heard of this new gimmick he has. I don’t know much about it to be honest, but last I seen him – past his sell by date’.

    - The conversation then turned to DDP who he said he managed. He showed me some pictures of him with DDP a few months ago. Also told me that Dallas was in an extremely great place in his life with the whole DDP Yoga stuff. Told me that ‘in the next few years, Dallas is actually looking to expand the whole DDP Yoga stuff here in Belfast, over in England, Scotland, Wales and down south in Ireland. Don’t know when that’ll be but you heard it here first!’

    - Pictures were shown of him with Al Snow over in Al’s home in America. Told me that Al is looking to get booked into wrestling promotions in the UK again. Showed me a picture that Al had sent of himself to the manager a few days ago, and holy shit, Al looks in great shape. He also stated that he was still close with Dave Taylor, ‘who’s also doing great in his life. I think he still works for WWE in some capacity’. He told me that he’ll be hanging out with Bushwhacker Luke in a few days over in America, and that that guy is one hell of a dude. Also showed me conversations he’s been having with Gangrel, the last few weeks. Showed me pictures of Gangrel recently, and he also looks in great shape. Told me that Gangrel has been trying out the DDP Yoga stuff, and it’s paying off. He looked at me and my brother and said ‘Dave runs his own porn company now. Whatever pays money I guess. He’s also whatsapping me about Trump and all over in America, taking the piss out of him’.

    - He asked me who I thought had potential in WWE. I replied with names like Braun Strowman (who he didn’t seem to know much about), Nakamura (who he said he loved), and such. He asked me if I liked Paige, which I replied with ‘yeah, before she got with Alberto and all’. He laughed and said ‘I haven’t seen Paige since like 2013, but I remember seeing her in Glasgow back in 2007 or so at an event that only cost me 6. Bushwhacker Luke was actually with me! She immediately stuck out. She had fake tattoos on at the time though which I never asked her about looking back on it’.

That was it. He then said ‘well boys, I think we’ve missed a bit of the show, and Mick will be wondering where the fuck I’m in, so I’ll head back in. Really nice meeting you both’ before shaking our hands and walking off. I seen him later on at the end of the show beside Mick.

Other highlights from meeting some wrestlers:

Mick Foley – I didn’t say much to Mick as my social anxiety disorder took over. I just asked if I could shake his hand which he said ‘of course! Although it was around Joey Ryan’s dick last night down in Dublin so you might reconsider that haha’. My brother had more of a talk with him, and brought up that he was watching an episode of Hell’s Kitchen USA, and that Mick was on it. Mick laughed and said ‘oh yeah, but the bastards wouldn’t let me say anythin’. That was around 2007 and the producers didn’t want any wrestlers on the show due to the whole controversy (he didn’t mention Benoit, but I assumed that’s what he meant) even though I know the owner and he’s one of my best friends. You should go onto some podcast I done when you go home, I give Gordon Ramsay a piece of my mind’.

Joey Ryan – I approached Joey and said ‘man, I can’t believe it. Can I have a picture?’ Joey smiled and said ‘oh yeah, of course. It’s five pounds thought if that’s alright?’ I gave him the money and took a selfie of us. I shook his hand and said ‘I first watched you when you were with WSX’ and he went ‘Wow! That was 10 years ago! Yeah that was a fun show. I had a lot of fun workin’ with those guys’. I said ‘yeah, you were with The Disco Machine, right?’ and he looked surprised at that and said ‘oh man, Disco! I miss that guy’. My brother had his photo taken with him and said ‘I loved your TNA run’. Joey laughed and said ‘thanks, it’s what got me to the dance, really. I loved my time there.’ When my brother said he enjoyed his programme with him/Al Snow, Joey said ‘so did I, I wish it cudda went on a bit longer than it did, but it is what it is I guess’ before we said it was nice meeting him.

WWE UK guys didn’t seem in any talkative mood. Matt Sydal just simply said he was happy to be out of WWE and be performing in ‘real wrestling’ again. So that's it. Make of this what you may

Re: After Meeting Mick Foley Last Week, I Met His Manager Who Had A Lot To Say About

Apologies for double post first of all.

Aside - if any of you don't believe me, fine. It's not as if I have much proof anyway. All I have is pics with the wrestlers I met, but that doesn't exactly prove I met Mick's manager does it? Just thought I'd post what was said to me, and what the conversation was. Everyone is entitled to their own mind and opinion(s) on if it occurred, but I can tell you that it certainly did. But anyway...let live and all that.

To quash the top comment of that reddit thing too, the guy didn't have 'faded bleach blonde hair' or whatever. Was totally bald. Wearing a black leather jacket too.
