Not worried about playing them at all. Think they are woeful in defence. Can easily see us keeping up our scoring four goals run.

I wouldn't go that far, especially at Anfield haha. Wonder if Fellaini will start again in that one.

I think we will draw at Anfield, the crowd will finally realise that they are suppose to be the most atmospheric places in the Prem and turn up the noise getting the players up for it.

Decent result, expected Arsenal to get a convincing win. Glad to get the win though and 3 points. Watford next after the international break.

Other than the threat of liverpool's wingers, i dont see it being a problem for United on there goal scoring form and Liverpool's on going defending issues.

I'm really digging the United team this year but tbf they haven't really played anyone in the Prem yet that you'd consider a test. Leicester maybe. Stoke away - maybeeee - and they drew that. It'll be ran a lot closer than United fans expect.

I think Stoke away is harder than Leicester at home. Look at Leicesters position in the table, their bubble has burst. Shakey will be gone soon if things don't pick up.

This has been the best Utd have looked since Fergie left but I'm really curious to see how they look against a fellow top 6 side. Whoever finishes above them wins the league.

Definitely looks to be Manchester's year. Could be either United or City.

Chelsea just don't look to have that same level of intensity as last year. Wonder if Conte will be "under pressure" if they fall far enough behind that its just a chase for Europe instead of a title chase...?

Arsenal look like they could be up for a solid top four push this year, but they still likely have that ability to fall apart at any moment. They really do look better without Ozil in the side. It will be interesting to see how that plays out going forward. All that determination to keep him and Sanchez, and they might be better of without at least Ozil. That hurts to type as I've always liked Ozil. He needs to be used in certain ways - protected - and Wenger has rarely done that.

The Liverpool situation leaves me conflicted. I am happy to see another top four contender starting to falter a bit and have some problems. But I like Klopp and I would prefer to see any of the other big clubs hit a rough patch over Liverpool.

Fair statement, I wasn't really thinking in-depth when I said that about Leicester.

Probably one of a very small minority but I don't really rate Klopp. He's a decent manager with some really good ideas but I think he possesses an inability to address frequent problems and tbh I think he's just a bit of a chancer at Liverpool. His failure to address the back four, he has a worse record than Rodgers ... I dunno, sure he was fantastic at Dortmund but now I think he's just presented as a golden boy in the media and everyone laps it up.

As I said, unpopular, but I think he's a bit of a schemer tbh

Liverpool are without Mane too so that'll be a big blow for them. Can see that one ending a draw though as Jose will park the bus as he usually does, thus giving Man City a lead at the top of the table.

Don't really disagree on a lot of that. Klopp is definitely a character, and he's sharp enough to know he's a character. A lot of big managers do a bit of "personal brand building" nowadays, though. The media also likes him, which goes a long way with the English football media. But that's true of a lot of big managers in England - Mourinho generally gets treated well, Wenger's failings were overlooked for a long time, and it wasn't just the Manchester media that fawned over SAF. If you are fun, affable, and make for good soundbites, the media tends to paint you in a more positive light.

The failure to add more defenders is one that has me scratching my head a bit. Much like Wenger feels the Arsenal squad will get considerably better without adding players, it doesn't necessarily add up. Defending was never really a big issue for Klopp at Dortmund - they had a fantastic defensive record the two years they won the title, and that was with a not-yet-world class Hummels and Subotic was good and Felipe Santana was just solid. But the backline was protected by good defensive mids. His side at Mainz was solidly defensively but never outstanding - but with a lesser standard of player. The defensive mistakes that keep affecting Liverpool under Klopp can be tactical (Klopp not adjusting) or player. Much like some of the issues under Wenger, its hard to know where the fault lies. But the manager has to bear responsibility and adapt. Klopp is failing too so far.

Yeah it definitely would be embarrassing. Palace will lose again but I think they will get their first goal of the season against Chelsea.

PL football is back. This is a game that Arsenal should be winning but this will probably end up as a 1-1 draw.

Re: Premier League 2017/18 Discussion Thread

Glad the Preimer League is back. Not sure exactly why International duty is so dull despite having more football on more days but it is for me.

    Liverpool vs Man Utd

I'm looking forward to this game, this will show if our great form is down to the smaller teams we have faced so far. If we beat Liverpool at Anfield or even draw with them, then that has got to show that we are a big deal. Right?

Glad Mane is out, he was a real threat for Liverpool last season so with him out the equation, all we have to do is focus on Phil. That's not easy task but it's doable. I think Pogba is out but there are videos of him training hard and doing sprints so I don't know what to believe. If he is out, I would have Herrera, Matic and Carrick in the midfield. Matic and Herrera will cover for Carricks mobility and this would keep Liverpool's attack out hopefully but also all of them are very good at ball playing which is where Rashford and Martial come in on the counter attack.

I expect an extremely pragmatic game from Jose though.

If United are at their best they will win comfortably IMO.

Slightly hesitant to say this but Klopp is approaching Martinez fraud levels at Liverpool.

Oh wtf, Monday Night Football again? waiting a whole weekend to lose to Leicester. Fantastic.

Brighton Vs Everton is a 13:30 kick off for the benefit of fans in India. It isn't on TV at all in the UK. #GamesGone

Liverpool and United has been a classic Jose match, defending, closing the space not allowing Liverpool to score.

Well I suppose Jose got what he wanted out of it but if I was a United fan i'd be disappointed with that. The Liverpool defence was there to be got at it and they never even attempted to have a go.

Pretty dire game to watch as a neutral, once again in this fixture.

Awful match but both teams had clear chances. De Gea's save probably the defining moment in the match. Fine point for United but Liverpool had to win in my opinion.

Shine is well an truly off Klopp. He took off Coutinho, Firmino and Salah...
