Went down to watch Cardiff vs. Villa on Saturday - Villa were terrible. I think they'll eventually sort it out, but I wouldn't be putting any money on them getting automatic promotion. Cardiff could have easily won by 4 or 5. Cracking start from the Bluebirds - if they keep playing like that I'll pop down more often when I'm free.

I love that I can watch so many Championship games now. Got to see the Brentford/Forest game, and what a game that was.

    Championship is surprisingly entertaining.

Cardiff doing the big spenders was a joy to see too. Cardiff got to be dark horses this season, especially considering the star players for Warnock so far this season came from League 1.

    Yep, bastards.

We need players badly, we look tired already but if we can get those players in we'll be ok.

Grayson already starting to say the same thing Moyes, Di Canio, Poyet, Bruce and O'Neill have said in the past about there being something wrong at the club, going to be a long season.

and 1 week later, Birmingham sack 'Arry.

God I'm glad 'Arry was finally found out as not being a great manager.

    Re: Championship 2017/18 Discussion Thread

Cardiff are back in the Premier League. A record 8th promotion for Neil Warnock. One of my most disliked managers ever. He's a very good Championship manager but a terrible PL manager. He'll probably get the sack when Cardiff are fighting relegation next season. I wanted Fulham to go up but they lost today. Hope they win the play offs.

Really glad Bolton stayed up, what a great comeback. Wolves missed out on 100 points, ended up with 99. They lost to relegated Sunderland.

    Play Offs
    Fulham vs Derby
Both sides haven't been in the PL for a long time so I'd prefer the winner of this match to go up. I think Villa will win the play offs but hopefully Fulham get promoted.

    Aston Villa vs Middlesborough
I don't mind Villa being back in the PL but I'd prefer if they stay in the Championship for a few seasons along with Boro.

Warnock post match said the squad shouldn't have even made the playoffs haha. 8 promotions in his career is special, however that Cardiff squad will need Premiership experience if they want to stay up.

So... is there going to have to be a League One thread for you next season, Mikk?

I doubt anyone says not to create one. I am, after all, the 2017 High Overlord Master King of this section or whatever. I created the Wenger replacement thread figuring it would mostly be me replying to myself.

And honestly, I've been trying to keep up more with the rest of the Football League.

    Re: Championship 2017/18 Discussion Thread

Most likely will be in here on my own next year

Cardiff + Warnock is a pretty horrible combination for my personal tastes. Scummy fans and the biggest twat in the game, thankfully I can ignore him all next season. Begrudgingly though, props for being the promotion godfather. He's done a great job, I don't think they were a club I saw tipped for automatic last summer.

Goes without saying, the worst case scenario for me is Aston Villa winning the play offs and I think they probably will be the team that does it. Fulham are certainly the best there, but there heads may drop after blowing automatic. I'm now in the position of having to cheer on Tony Pulis when his Boro team takes on Villa. Please god, let Villa slip up, it'd destroy them if they missed out a 2nd season.

Sad to see Burton Albion drop out of the league on the final day, they were a fun little success story and would of been a closeish away game for me next season.

Here's a stat, Coventry City finished in the top six of a division for the first time since 1970. No-one under the age of 48 has ever seen Coventry City be promoted and now they finally get a chance.

Finally, a bit about Wolves. Yesterday they flew this banner over the Hawthorns during our game with Spurs:

Now, not only did that plan to gloat backfire because we didn't get relegated yesterday, but is that really the best message their collective brains could come up with. Bye-Bye? We haven't been in the same league since 2012, who are they saying bye-bye to? Fucking morons. They're having an open top bus parade tomorrow through the streets of Wolverhampton like it's the Champions League they've won. If they were as big of a club as they think they are, they wouldn't bother with going OTT with winning the exact same title they won in 2009.
