    Re: The Marvel/DC Universe

    VOLUME ONE

1882 - Twin brothers Victor Howlett and James Howlett are born in Alberta, Canada. Their mother Elizabeth Howlett dies during childbirth and in his grief their father John Howlett abandons his sons and they are played into foster care within hours of being born.

1889 - Adolf Hitler is born in the Austrian town of Braunau am Inn.

1899 - Johann Shmidt is born in a small German town.

1916 - The Battle of the Somme is the largest battle of World War One. Soldiers for the allied forces include Victor Howlett and James Howlett who would be separated after a mortar attacked. After witnessed James Howlett face regenerating he would be taken into custody by his fellow Americans. Victor Howlett on the other hand would be M.I.A. and presumed dead. During this same battle Patrick Wayne would become a hero for saving the lives of his fellow soldiers by diving on top of grenade, and losing both is legs in the process. Another notable person that would feature in the battle would be Howard Stark Sr. would would fly a revolutionary Bristol Type 22 into a German munition depot killing himself on impact, but creating a vital opening for the Allied Offensive.

1939- World War Two would begin and throw Europe and the rest of the world into chaos once more. Adolf Hitler would look to achieve world domination with the aid of his closest advisers Baron Zemo and Chief SS Officer Johann Shmidt. Zemo would be tasked to win the war with means of science and technology, whilst Schmidt would be tasked to look for means of winning the war by powers of the dark arts which had seemingly been forgotten by modern civilisation.

1941 - The Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service attack U.S. Navy Base Pearl Harbour in the state of Hawaii and despite the involvement of The Human Torch (Jim Hammond) the Japanese absolutely decimated Pearl Harbour which would result in the United States of America officially becoming a part of World War Two. A sailor would claim that he saw the Human Torch falling vertically into the Pacific Ocean, but that the Torch would not resurface. The U.S. government would refuse to comment on the Human Torch with it being clear that President Roosevelt was unwilling for the White House to make an official statement about anyone with superpowers.

1942 - A month after the horrific attack on Pearl Harbour, Steve Rogers takes part in the U.S. military's top secret program run by the Strategic Scientific Reserve in what is simply referred to as the “super-soldier program”. This result in Steve Rogers gaining superhuman strength which leads to the U.S. using Steve Rogers under the guise ‘Captain America’ where he becomes a symbol of hope and liberty for the country efforts in mainland Europe and Asia. The iconic shield would be designed Howard Stark Jr. who was a leading inventor for the U.S. military. Rogers goes onto become a certified war hero and is involved in a number of key battles with a majority of these taking place on the Western front.

1944 - The Normandy Landings (D-Day) take place and seeing the largest seaborne invasion in history take place. Unknown to each other three extremely significant men would storm that beach that day; Nicholas Fury, James Howlett and Brian Falsworth. There is no records available that can confirm or deny that either of these men crossed path when they stormed the beach that day.

1945 - Adolf Hitler commits suicide by shooting himself, although there is much debate much later in history between Russia and The United States with the Russian claiming that it was Hitler was actually killed by the Winter Soldier, whilst the U.S. argue that Hitler was in fact murdered by The Unknown Soldier. The truth is buried in history, although it is clear that Adolf Hitler’s death was mostly certainly not something he did willingly.

1946 - Although World War Two has officially come to an end Captain America, Howard Stark Jr. and an elite unit of commandos have discovered the location of Johann Shmidt (now known as the Red Skull, who is the world’s most wanted man). Not only does Captain America want to bring down Red Skull, but he wants to know the location of his best friend Bucky Barnes. Red Skull whilst at gunpoint would reveal that Bucky had long since disposed of before pulling falling backwards into the water whilst seeming to trigger a self destruction sequence of the complex he had been residing in. The entire commando unit would die in the blast, but Captain America would pursue the Red Skull by flying a Ryan FR Fireball that had been customised by Howard Stark Jr. Captain America would successfully shoot down Red Skull’s plane, but would only release he was losing fuel at an uncontrollable rate when he was the the point of no return. Roger’s last transmission would take place between himself and his assumed lover British Secret Agent Peggy Carter.

1950 - The Allfather and ruler of Asgard, Odin Borson has a secret meeting with Kryptonian scientist Jor-El. In this meeting Jor-El warns that an uncontrollable evil is building up among the stars and suggests that Asgard and Krypton work together to battle the darkness. Odin rejects Jor-El’s offer making it clear that Asgard is impenetrable and will never fall. Jor-El leaves with a heavy heart only to return home to find out his wife Lara is with child. Eight months later Lara gives birth to Kal-El, but within hours of being born the uncontrollable evil infiltrates Krypton which result in the planet imploding. Jor-El and Lara in desperation build an escape shuttle for their son Kal-El who they send to the planet Earth as the last living Kryptonian. Kal-El would be discovered in his shuttle in a field in Kansas and would be taken in and raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent as their own son (and take on the name Clark).

1951-56 - James Howlett now known simply as Logan is reunited with his brother Victor and is invited to join the the Weapon X Program which was headed by William Stryker. The team would primarily focus on recruiting mutants and people with powers to work for the unit or detaining those that were unwilling to playball. It was during this time that Logan would earn the codename Wolverine and Victor Sabretooth. Eventually, Logan would desert the unit after witnessing William Stryker gun done a group of school children known for possessing mutant powers. Logan would go into hiding with the Weapon X Program unwilling to let a former member simply turn their back on the unit. The hunt for Logan would be led by his brother Victor.

1958 - Four scientific explorers (Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm) would undergo a deep sea diving expedition in which they would explore the wreckage of Pearl Harbour with the intent of trying to find the remains of The Human Torch (Jim Hammond). The four would trigger a chain reaction by touching the assumed remains of the Human Torch which would lead to all four men being blasted with the same radiation that had powered Jim Hammond. In the days that followed all four explorers would develop remarkable new abilities: Reed (would be able to stretch his body and limbs), Sue (would be able to bend light around her body and become invisible), Johnny (you be able to engulf himself in flames and fly) and Ben (gained incredible strength and durability although his skin would shed and instead his body would become made up of an orange like rock material). The four would decide to use their powers to better humanity and would form the Fantastic Four.

1961 - Logan would be captured by the Weapon X Program and have adamantium injected into his skeleton and claws making him one of the most powerful mutants. During the process Logan would have his memory deleted (suppressed) only to be rescued during the process by a team calling themselves the X-Men comprised of Charles Xavier, Erik Lehnsherr, Raven, Dr. Hank McCoy, Alex Summers and Agent Peggy Carter. William Stryker would escape before being captured, whilst Logan would be uncontrollable and disappear rather than being successfully brought in by the X-Men.

1974 - A mysterious wanderer arrives in Asgard and informs Odin that of the nine realms only two others haven’t fallen to the mysterious darkness: Midgard & Vanheim. The mysterious wanderer would then proceed to lunge forward and stab Odin in the throat with a short blade and killing Odin outright. As the Asgardian warriors approached the wanderer, the stranger was nowhere to be found. With Odin dead his son Thor would become the new king of Asgard. Thor would swear on his own life that he would dedicate his life to rid the uncontrollable evil from the Nine Realms that had ultimately led to the death of his father.

1979 - Lex Luthor and Tony Stark announce that LutherCorp and Stark Industries partner up creating the world’s largest business superpower. Previously the two companies had been in a bitter rivalry that had lasted throughout the lifetimes of both of their fathers.

1981 - Gotham City one of the most crime riddled cities in America is given a beacon of hope in a man known simply as the Batman. The unknown vigilante plays a pivotal part in the arrests of four of Gotham's most notorious villains: The Penguin, Two-Face, Scarecrow & Mr. Freeze. 1982 - The Fantastic Four, Tony Stark, Superman and The Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) protect the earth from an alien invasion force of rogue Asgardian warriors (who are under the influence of the uncontrollable evil, although at the time this is an unknown fact to “The Defenders of Earth.”) Earth would be successfully defended although “The Defenders of Earth” would suffer major casualties: Reed Richards, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm of the Fantastic Four and Hal Jordan would all die fighting the Rogue Asgardians in the earth’s atmosphere, whilst Tony Stark would be rushed to his own private medical facility by Sue Richards (Invisible Woman). Tony would suffer a critical heart attack, but using his incredibly high IQ modify a pacemaker of his own design and insert it into his chest that would keep him alive. Susan Richards would mourn the loss of her husband, brother and close friend and officially remove the Fantastic Four from active duty. A miscalculation results in Banner being exposed to gamma rays which results Bruce Banner turning into the Incredible Hulk which leads to him escaping the compound in a seemingly uncontrollable state. It later emerges that Banner only turns into the Hulk when he is under any form of emotional stress. Hank Pym does his best to bring Banner in, but fails and in the process loses his life in an attempt to save his dear friend.

1984 - Tony Stark would unveil his new project ‘The Iron Man Programme’ and on this basis announce that Stark Industries was no longer in partnership with LutherCorp. Stark would then reveal himself as the first member of the programme and vow to do everything in power to protect and preserve life on planet earth.

1989 - The Cold War comes to an end, but a new war begins almost immediately afterwards. A secret war of which no one apart from members of a secret organization known as HYDRA as aware of.

1990 - The X-Men fill the role previously held by the Fantastic Four as a superteam capable of protecting the earth and it’s citizens whenever it is required. The X-Men are led by Professor X and their frontline force consists of: Scott Summers (Cyclops), Jean Grey (Marvel Girl), Ororo Munroe (Storm), Dr. Hank McCoy (Beast) and Remy LeBeau (Gambit). The elite mutant force have a direct line to a number of world leader’s and effectively become the highest level of security for planet earth. A strong bond is created between humankind and mutants at arguably a time when it was most needed.

    Re: The Marvel/DC Universe

    VOLUME THREE

    1990
    - S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury announces that he is launching the ‘Avenger Program’ with the intention of recruiting those with superpowers in order to create a peacekeeping force that can be controlled and governed by the people of the world. Those that are recruited to the program include: Iron Man (Tony Stark), Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Black Panther (T’Challa), Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) and Aqua Man (Arthur Curry). The elite team become known as simply ‘The Avengers’ and are tasked with any jobs that Director Fury deems not suitable for anyone else.

1992 - American traitor and fugitive William Stryker is murdered by Wolverine (Logan) in Tokyo, Japan. After managing to talking him down Wolverine is brought in by the X-Men and offered refuses at Xavier’s School for the Gifted (thirty one years after he was originally freed by Charles’ first mutant team.)

1994- Batman’s sidekick Robin (Jason Todd) is brutally murdered by the infamous villain The Joker. Batman recalls the original Robin (Dick Grayson) now known as Nightwing from his duties in Bludhaven. Both Batman and Nightwing would search high and low for The Joker, but in their range become everything they worked so hard to prevent throwing Gotham City into complete and utter chaos. Batman proves unreasonable and a number of heroes attempt to talk him down. Original Avenger Tony Stark attempts to outsmart Batman, but fails when Batman uses his superior knowledge to disable Stark’s pacemaker resulting in Iron Man having a second heart attack. As ‘The Avengers’ seem on the verge of declaring an all-out war on Batman, Superman returns to earth after a twelve year absence. Superman proceeds to battle with Batman in a battle of the ages and eventually he remains the last man standing.

Batman and Nightwing are taken into custody and revealed as billionaire Bruce Wayne and his Dick Grayson respectively. Both men are sent to Arkham Asylum a location of which most inmates are resident because of The Bat. Tony Stark seemingly hanging on by a thread is given Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern ring and informed by Superman that the Green Lantern Corps decided that Iron Man would be the man most suited to carrying on in Hal’s footstep. Unfortunately, Stark vital organs would fail before he could formally accept the position. The death of Stark results in S.H.I.E.L.D. taking a much more aggressive stance when dealing with enemies of the state. The Joker’s location is still unknown.

1997- Magneto (Erik Lehnsherr) & Mystique (Raven) and a group of mutants unwilling to live by the rule of Charles Xavier discover the body of Steve Rogers (Captain America) perfectly frozen in the Arctic during an expedition originally put together to discovered the location of Superman’s Fortress of Solitude. Rogers is brought back from the dead and is informed of what has happened since Roger’s assumed death. Captain America struggles with the truth of his situation, but is slowly indoctrinated by Magento into thinking that Mutants/those with powers are the enemy of the state. Unknown to Rogers, Magneto is actually one of the leading minds of HYDRA (the same organization that was created by Roger’s nemesis Red Skull). The discovery of Steve Rogers becomes the best kept secret.

1999 - The Incredible Hulk (Bruce Banner) is captured by the combined task force of The X-Men/The Avengers and for the future protection of the planet is launched into space and sent to a planet that has breathable air with no means of returning to the planet. This extreme measure is taken due to the uncontrollable rampages that the Hulk had started to dish out in recent months in large population centers.

2000 - The beginning of my story...

    Re: The Marvel/DC Universe

    World War X
    Chapter One (January 2000-July 2000)
    - Magneto -

After being in hiding for just under six years, The Joker would arrive at the HYDRA safehouse that was was hosting Magneto, Steve Rogers and the rest of the Lehnsherr’s motley crew. Joker’s arrival would lead to a massive lockdown of the facility with Magneto personally interrogating The Joker. Despite some pretty comprehensive attempts at trying to break The Joker for information the lunatic from Gotham City proved impossible to break which after 72 hours would lead to Erik becoming massively frustrated. The Joker would make it clear that he had enjoyed the approach that Erik had chosen in order to deal with him, although would make it clear that if there roles reversed it would have been a very different story. Joker would make it clear that he had sought out Magneto as a friend rather than a foe because he had a proposition for him and the rest of his mutant kin. The Joker would make it known that he had a contact inside Arkham Asylum that on his command would release a number of infamous inmates that would only strengthen their assault on S.H.I.E.L.D when push came to shove. When Erik would ask what any of this had to do with S.H.I.E.L.D. which result in Joker laughing maniacally before making it clear as day that he was very much aware that Magneto was currently one of the highest authority within HYDRA. This information seemed to spook Magneto and instead of forming an alliance would command Juggernaut and Iceman to take Joker to vault and would make it crystal clear that The Joker was never to be left unsupervised. As he was being dragged away The Joker would laugh to himself, but make sure to remind Erik that sooner or late it would stop being a laughing matter.

After this ‘incursion’ Magneto would become on edge and setup up two different missions teams: Alpha Squad and Bravo Squad. Bravo Squad was made aware that until Alpha Squad’s mission was complete they would remain silent cell.

Alpha Squad would be led by Mystique with her squad members being Emma Frost, Toad and Iceman. The purpose of Alpha Squad was to investigate Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum and try to discover who The Joker’s secret contact was.

Bravo Squad would be headup by Captain America (with this being Rogers’ first assignment since WWII) with his squad mates being Pyro, The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. It was no coincidence whatsoever that Magneto had decided both his children to be part of the team squad as Captain America. Bravo Squad’s directive was much simpler. Infiltrate the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier and release an important hostage from captivity. As part of Rogers’ indoctrination he had been told that S.H.I.E.L.D. was nothing more than a front and was nothing more than one of the many heads of HYDRA.

    + + + + +

Alpha Squad would form a web of contacts in Gotham City and in three months had each of its four squad members in tactical and advantageous positions. Toadman had been taken into custody and had become an inmate in “Arkham Asylum” and by doing so had become the inside man. Iceman had used his previous reputation (as an member of the X-Men) to his advantage by creating an alliance with The Red Robin and Batgirl (the duo had been doing their best to carry on the work of Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson, despite the pair being in prison. The general public and the GCPD considered Red Robin and Batgirl as two of the most wanted criminal in the city and both had massive bounties on their heads). Iceman had managed to forge a friendship with the pair and become the third member of their team and had been very slowly but carefully planting seeds of possibility that maybe breaking Bruce and Dick out of Arkham Asylum was the only effective way of pulling Gotham out from the darkness. Emma Frost meanwhile had managed to convince Bane, The Red Hood and Riddler to form a collective syndicate with the intention of the collective running Gotham City. Mystique had taken on the most difficult and at the same time the most simple of the four jobs. She had taken Commissioner James Gordon hostage and for countless months had been playing the role of Gordon.

Eventually, the group had come to a conclusion that The Joker’s contact in Arkham Asylum was a certain Dr. Strange. During a meeting with who he thought was Commissioner Gordon, Mystique would reveal herself to Dr. Strange and make him an offer he couldn’t refuse: a state of art Biochemistry lab paid for by HYDRA. Crane would agree to turn off the power breaker in the Asylum which would result in all of the cells being opened and give Alpha Squad the window they needed to bring a number of assets into the fold, in what would only strengthen HYDRA when all they had been working towards finally came to fruition.

On the date in question (May 1st 2000) Dr. Strange would play his part and turn off the power which would result in Arkham Asylum turning into an absolute warzone. Toad would roundup the ‘shopping list’ which would consist of: Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Hush, Scarecrow and Firefly. Toad though wouldn’t leave the Asylum alve as Killer Croc would decide that Toad was a tasty snack and proceed to pick up the strange little man and bite his head off. Hugo Strange though would make no objections to this and leading the five would escort them out of the Asylum where they would enter a prison truck that had been commandeered by Emma Frost and various members of the crime syndicate she had formed wit h Bane, Red Hood and The Riddler. Much to everyone’s surprise as they would look to flee, Red Hood would disembark from the vehicle making it clear that he had a score to settle.

Amid the chaos Red Robin and Batgirl would be doing their best to contain a number of inmates that were trying to flee whilst at the same time trying to locate their mentors Bruce and Dick. Unknown to the pair Iceman was planting evidence to make it appear as though the entire shutting off of the the Asylum had been planned by the Cape Crusaders. Iceman would then make his escape bearing no mind to either Robin or Batgirl. Before the GCPD could arrive on scene (the delay being created by Mystique) a number of other high profile inmates would manage to escape including Two-Face and The Penguin.

    + + + + +

After Alpha Squad’s mission was deemed a success, Bravo Squad would be given the green light and would infiltrate the Helicarrier by way of a HALO drop (June 14th 2000). Finding themselves face to face with Captain America would catch a number of agents off guard, but Rogers wouldn’t hold anything back and all of his frustration of losing Bucky Barnes not to mention that he had missed his chance of happiness with Peggy Carter would all come to the surface. He would be given sufficient cover from Quicksilver, as Pyro and Scarlet Witch had other objectives to complete. Pyro would journey to the engine room and create a massive explosion which would cause the engines to fail which would eventually lead to the Helicarrier falling from the sky. Meanwhile the Scarlet Witch only had one target in command Nick Fury.

Eventually Steve and Quicksilver would arrive on prison level and proceed to release the ‘original target’ from custody: Tempest. As Quicksilver was releasing Tempest from her bonds, Rogers would be left shocked and drop to his knees as inside the other prison cell would lie and unconscious and unaged Bucky Barnes. Rogers would weep with joy, before proceeding to break open the cell and rescue his friend. With Steve carrying Bucky over his shoulders, Quicksilver and Tempest in tow the four would find an escape craft and proceed to extract the area. (Rogers would be unaware of the fact that Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier had only been recently been discovered by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents during an overhaul of an old KGB test site). The foursome would be joined by Pyro who would provide essential cover fire (literally).

Scarlett would eventually have fought her way to the bridge and after taking down countless members of S.H.I.E.L.D finally found herself face to face with Nick Fury. Scarlett would ask Nick if he had any last words, although the Witch would be totally caught off-guard as Fury would reply with a sarcastic ‘HAIL HYDRA’ before six adamantium claws would appear sticking through Wanda’s chest as the Scarlet Witch would gargle her last breath of blood before falling to the floor revealing Logan (Wolverine) wearing S.H.I.E.L.D-X Gear and being flanked on either side by Poison Ivy and Deadpool. The scene would end with Director Fury saying just two words ‘No Mercy’ before the Helicarrier would start to dramatically start falling towards the earth.

N.B. Reader Input - Chapter 2 will either be Wolverine or Batman. The choice is yours.

    Re: The Marvel/DC Universe

    World War X
Chapter Two (Year 2000 - May)
    - Batman -

After six years in Arkham Asylum, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson are without a doubt the two most famous inmates of the infamous institute. The six years was without a doubt the the hardest portion of both Bruce and Dick’s lives as everyday wa struggle with the remaining inmates and half the staff doing their best to break down both men’s resolve. Breaking however was something that neither Bruce or Dick had any intention of doing anytime soon. On the day of the breakout (May 1st 2000) both Wayne and Grayson would very quickly find themselves on everyone’s wish list as a lot of low level thugs and criminals would take the opportunity to try and ‘take out’ Bruce and Dick. It was unknown to both men that the likes of Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Hush, Scarecrow and Firefly were being broken out, not to mention the fact that both Two-Face and the Penguin had figured a way to escape on their own virtue. It was only when Red Robin and Batgirl came to their mentors aid that Bruce and Dick were aware of just what was going on. Bruce would make it clear that by breaking both Dick and himself out of the Asylum, that all four of them would be painted with a brush that they might never be able to wipe away. Red Robin (Tim Drake) would make it clear that if Bruce and Dick stayed where they were they might never be free of this torment.

Eventually Bruce would agree to escape only to for the four to find their path blocked by the Red Hood who was wielding a pair of sawnoff shotguns. Red Hood would make it clear that he was just here for Bruce and make it clear that if Red Robin, Dick and Batgirl were free to go. The trio would put up an argument, but Bruce would tell them to go resulting in a one-on-one confrontation between Bruce and the Red Hood. An epic battle of cat and mouse or rather cat and bat would take place with Red Hood doing his best to cripple Bruce rather than kill him using his sawn-offs as his weapons of choice. Bruce with no weapons or gadgets at his disposal had to do everything in his power to duck, dive and stay and alive and he was doing a pretty good job of it until a shell rebounded off a wall and clipped his knee forcing him to drop onto the fall. With Red Hood sensing the hunt was over he would toss away his gun and lower himself to Batman’s level. Red Hood would open up to Bruce and make it clear that he had always looked up to him, before making it clear that if Bruce had just given him a little bit more respect and little bit more responsibility the situation that both men found themselves in might never had happened. Bruce was clearly confused by what was being said to him and only seem to have just enough energy to ask Red Hood who he was.

Red Hood would laugh although in a very dark manner only to pull off his mask to reveal a man with a completely burnt face, burns not inflicted by fire but rather from acid. Bruce obviously wouldn’t be able to recognise Hood’s real identity which would in Red Hood laughing further before telling Bruce that he was the second Robin and that he was the reason that Bruce was where he was today. Bruce would be knocked for six and actually seem to crying as he would struggle to say one name...Tim. Before anything else could be said between the two men, the roof would collapse and bury both men in the rubble.

Dick Grayson, Red Robin and Batgirl would be forced to watch from the outside as the Arkham Asylum would collapse as a string of explosive charges would be heard detonating. The trio would look on in shock as Bruce was nowhere to be seen.
