    RIP Chester Bennington

Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington died of an apparent suicide by hanging Thursday morning, according to TMZ. Police in Palos Verdes Estates, in Los Angeles County told the outlet that the singer's body had been discovered just before 9 a.m. The singer was 41. A representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Bennington's screamed and emotional vocals provided a gritty counterpoint to co-frontman Mike Shinoda's raps on the group's nu-metal hits like "In the End" and "One Step Closer." He sang the poppy melodies on the band's recent hit "Heavy," which featured singer Kiiara and reached Number Two on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart and Number 11 on the Top 40. In addition to working with Linkin Park, he also fronted Stone Temple Pilots between 2013 and 2015 and the supergroups Dead by Sunday and Kings of Chaos.

I just can't right now. My first favorite band. Hybrid Theory is still my favorite album. I'm legit fighting tears right now.

Even worse - today is Chris Cornell's birthday.

    Double whammy right there.

Fuck. I think this might be my saddest death in music because Linkin Park are a band that I vividly remember debuting and breaking out just as I was starting to take a real interest in music beyond just playing the music my teachers would have me learn. They were the first album I ever bought and they went on to be one of my favourite bands as a teenager. I haven't enjoyed their last few albums, but all the power to them for evolving musically and keeping themselves relevant while 95% of nu-metal bands have died out over the last 15-20 years. Undeniably a great voice. RIP.

Edit - A co-worker of mine just saw LP about 2 weeks ago in Birmingham. Bittersweet luck to see one of his final gigs I guess.

Such horrible news. I wasn't a big fan of Linkin Park, but I've like most of their music. Bennington's voice was a perfect match to carry the band to prominence.

Oh, and what pisses me off is when I was on another forum, three or four people said that his, and Cornell's suicide, was cowardice and stupid. There's something to the story that contributed to his death, we will eventually find out soon. In the meantime, I'm paying my respect to his legacy.

Killed himself on Chris Cornell's birthday, no less.

Not my cup of tea these days but you can't deny their impact. Every angst-y teen had an LP album in the naughts. I had Hybrid Theory and loved it admittedly. A lot due to Chester. Very distinct and unique vocalist. Lady Talent gutted because they were going to perform around Bristol in September.

    RIP

Almost word for word what I was about to say. While I haven't listened to them much since, they were one of the first bands I was way into and helped define what my taste in music was. Hybrid Theory is still an incredible album and I have fond memories of staying up late and hearing them on Kerrang, or downloading a DBZ music video on Limewire to Crawling and With You.

    Very very sad times.

I remember when Hybrid Theory came out, the buzz around it was intense. You could just feel how big they were going to be. I'm one of the few fans I know that got into them back when they were just starting out and is still into there more recent output, and I absolutely don't blame anyone for not being because they sound like different two different bands at this point.

This really sucks. His voice was insane.

Guys I just listening to the Song and watching the Video Heavy moments ago this is shocker to me. I remember listening to them as a young Teenager due to one of my best friends growing up asking me listen to this Album. I remember it like it was yesterday, I looked at the Album Hybrid Theory and read the Songs and thought what is crap. At the time I was only listening to Spanish Music and Rap/Hip Hop, that Album alone made me wake up and give other Music a chance. Theirs plenty of songs from that Album alone that I put on when I'm feeling down, RIP Chester.

This one hit me hard because they were a big part of my teen years in high school around the early 2000s, their music got me through some rough times in high school. Meteora was my absolute favorite album by them but Hybrid Theory was just as awesome. I'm so happy that I got to see them in concert back in 2011, such an awesome act to see live. My heart goes out to his family and band mates, as well anyone else who is suffering from depression.

    RIP Chester Bennington.

This sucks. While I'm not really into Linkin Park thesedays, I and pretty much every one I knew around my age were huge fans of them years ago. They're a band that feels like a real part of growing up in a way. They were huge when I was a teenager.

    RIP.

Fffuuuuuuuuuucccckkkkk!! Such a good live act. I've seen hundreds of bands and artists live, it was how I spent my youth and Linkin Park remain one of the best bands I've ever seen live and I got to see them a number of times. I remember seeing them blow Deftones out of the water one night when they were supporting them... and this is back when Deftones were a reliable and amazing live band, not like now where it depends which version of the band shows up.

Sadly never saw them, was at Download in 2014 when they did Hybrid Theory in full but was watching Quo on the other stage

RIP Chester, may not have been a band high on my list but still enjoyed their music.

    RIP Bradley
