Ward is definitely a guy with a lot of potential, he could be a top class keeper for us. Henessey's been great for us but for the next campaign it could be time for a change of the guard in goal for us.
Ledley will always have a role to play I feel, though I'm surprised that he turned down the chance to stay int he Premier League to drop down to the Championship. He's definitely becoming more of a squad player now though. Gunter is another who's served his country well despite having very little Premier League experience in his career. I think he could be replaced but I think for now he's another who's able to up his game when he plays for his country when called upon.

I think Ward does need to be made our number 1 now. We need to rebuild again now. The problem we have is we don't have someone to slot in at CB so Williams may need to go on for another 3 years yet. We still have the basis of a solid team, we just need the next generation guys to step up.

I'd even let Cookie go if he wants to, he's done superbly with us but we should have at least made the playoffs from this group. I'd love for us to give Pulis a go, but I don't think he'd be tempted by International management so no idea who would be next in line to be honest...knowing the FAW they'd go for Giggs.

I think we need to keep Coleman at the helm, there's no reason for him to go at this point and all the players want him to stay.

I'd hate it so much if Pulis got the job, not that he'd want it given how outspoken he's been against our national team int he past. I'd take Giggs over him any day.

To be honest, I don't know if Cookie would want to stay on now. He's done his stint and his stock has risen greatly due to how he's transformed our fortunes so it really wouldn't shock me to see him leave.

    Re: General Football Discussion 2017-18

Across the globe plenty happened last night!!!

USA are shockingly out of the World Cup... not even a play-off place after all three matches went the way they did not want. Panama are in the World Cup!!! What an achievement that is for them, although the controversy over Panama's first goal not going over the line is interesting.

Also despite all the talk of Argentina not making it to the World Cup it was Messi that drove them through and surprisingly Chile will not be heading to the World Cup. So if Australia fail to beat Honduras in the play-offs it will be the Copa America holders, the African Nations Cup holders, the Asian Cup holders and the Gold Cup holders all missing from the World Cup.

As for those missing... here's a team of players missing from Russia!!!

    GK - Jan Oblak

    RB - Antonio Valencia

    CB - Virgil Van Dijk

    LB - David Alaba

    RM - Henrikh Mkhitaryan

    CM - Artuto Vidal

    CM - Miralem Pjanic

    CM - Naby Keita

    LM - Gareth Bale

    ST - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    ST - Alexis Sanchez

    Re: General Football Discussion 2017-18

Wales and Scotland failed to qualify. Hoping that Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland get an easier draw in the play offs. Italy are one of my fave International teams. Hopefully they get a good draw and go through.

Messi to the rescue for Argentina. I'm glad they made it. Would be strange without Argentina in the WC. No Alexis Sanchez at the World Cup, disappointed that Chile didn't make it.

USA out lol. It's an easy group. They only needed a draw. Only had to finish 3rd out of a group of 6 teams for automatic qualification, 4th for a play off spot. USA didn't even make the play offs. That's embarrassing.

Well done Iceland and Panama for qualifying for the World Cup.

Looking forward to the new international tournament, The Nations League. I quite like the idea, more competitive games and reduces the number of pointless friendlies. Spots for Euro 2020 are up for grabs but I don't like the idea of pot 3 and 4 teams making the Euro 2020 finals.

The games will take place on a home and away basis, with the first legs between 9 and 11 November and the second legs between 12 and 14 November.
Really hope Italy, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland qualify for the World Cup. I don't mind who goes through between Greece and Croatia.

Tough games for both Irish teams to be fair, but it's not the end of the world.

It was always going to be tough but they probably got the best two draws that they could. Would not surprise me to see both Irish teams go out but the Republic have a knack of raising their game for the big occasion. Hopefully they can keep Eriksen quiet.

As for Northern Ireland I think the Swiss are beatable but they also have an ability to turn up on their day and be unplayable.
