Indeed Dave. Can't question his ability on the pitch, he was doing Messi things before Messi was a thing. Genuis on the pitch, couldn't handle life off it.

I’m not a huge football fan, but Maradona was always one of my favourites when I would watch old highlights, R.I.P. to one of the best of all time

Given his lifestyle, 60 was a good innings.

Glorious footballer and an absolute icon, cannot recommend the 2019 documentary film on him enough.

    Meanwhile at the Daily Star...

Absolute joke of a news paper. From the headline, to the choice of pictue and the ridiculous caption in the bottom right. Not even worth using as toilet paper.

    Re: General Football Discussion

Those papers know the 50 year old white male EDL audience they're trying to attract.

I love the line on twitter today that Shilton could of risen above it, but he failed to do so a second time.

He wasn't a saint, and if you were a fan of that country that he screwed over by cheating and watched it in real time, I'd say it's understandable to still be bitter because football sparks passionate feelings (I'm still bitter about a Baros handball that knocked Albion out of the FA Cup Semi Final in 2008), but 'journalists' on the day of his death should be holding themselves to a better standard and write classier headlines.

    Re: General Football Discussion

They even got their customary good fortune with the pen that wasn’t a pen to kick start the comeback, but because of how bad the defence was it was too tall an ask to make the comeback.

eventually the penny will drop with Utd fans that ole isn’t a top level manager and there’s a ceiling on where they can go with him. If you have to make this many comebacks, it sort of suggests that the team ole picks to start games isn’t right.

    Re: General Football Discussion

Words fail me. Last night was a shambles. Ole got the tactics wrong, players were all over the shop in the first half (shades of the first game against Istanbul), it was all over the place.
It didn't help that Raiola had run his mouth ahead of the game saying that Pogpa wants to leave and all that crap and it says a lot that Pogpa was arguably our best player last night after he came off the bench.

I get that we were away from home and in need of a point, but come on. We didn't need to play a back 3 AND have Matic AND McTominay sitting in front. Shaw was hopeless, Telles seemingly abandoned all his defensive responsabilities meaning our left hand side was completely open. De Gea, although not necessarily at fault for the goals, could have arguably done better with a couple of them. I thought Maguire was clueless too and I blame him for the 3rd goal. Did he get a shout from De Gea to leave the ball run accross the 6 yeard box? Was it Kluivert who made the call for him to leave it and Maguire fell for it? Either way, as captain you take control there and get rid of it. Schoolboy error. The sooner we take the captaincy from him and give it to Fernandes the better, because he really is captain clueless at the moment.

We did so well to get ourselves back into the Champions League this season and now that work's been undone as we're right back in the Europa League playing on Thursdays and potentially looking at a ridiculous fixture congestion and stupid trips to the back end of Europe.

Ole got it so wrong here. He's had enough time to work out his best team now, he needs to start getting it right. He still doesn't know how to get the best out of our midfield and doesn't know our best 11. We need to get that sorted as a matter of urgency so that we can start building some consistency if we are to capitalise on our fortunate position in the League and solidify our push for a top 4 finish.

Celtic FC going to a trip to Dubai during a pandemic, what's the worst that could happen? Call it a training camp but it's really a winter holiday and we'll bring injured players too......

Fucking idiots. SNP are just waiting for the right excuse to the pull the plug on this shit...

Bayern got dumped out of the German Cup today. It's been 21 years since the last time they didn't pass the secound round.
