He'd fallen out of favour anyway. For some strange reason. Derek doesn't seem to want a striker who will score.

We were ultimately poor vs Rangers so happy to get a draw. Good to see the young Bruce Anderson get the goal, hopefully this means more first team opportunities for him.

I may need a Scottish Football thread soon.

Referee was a bit dodgy. Not fussed about the result since it means breathing space already. Morelos is a toolbag.

But at least Rangers didn't get to burst my coupon

Just another four weeks til the big one.

    Re: General Football Discussion 2017-18

Referee/assistants had a shocker yesterday for me.

Morelos might be an idiot for kicking out but he was aggressively barged twice - particularly the second one that led him to kick out. It was a petulant kick more than an aggressive booting of the player. His fault for giving the referee the chance to make that decision, and to the letter of the law it's correct, but felt so harsh at the time.

And then if the referee gives that penalty, with no intention to play the ball, then again to the letter of the law the fella has to go. At the time I thought it was a soft enough penalty too, and he was trying to even things up a little.

Biggest thing to take away from it is Rangers look a far better side than Aberdeen, and continued to look more dangerous with 10 men than Aberdeen with 11.

    And he scores goals...!

Morelos red was definitely deserved but I can understand why he lashed out. But being barged isnt a rarity in Scottish football though so.

I think Ball definitely should've walked tbh.

Rangers were the better side but I have thought that about them since they came back up. Aberdeen have never been that impressive against them so I won't read much into it.

Wondering what people thought about this:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44850888

TD:LR, 11 PL clubs last year could have played in empty stadiums & still made a pre-tax profit in the first year of the current broadcast deal.

Scottish Football is such a meme, I love it.

Like today's decision on McGregor's off the ball kick at Ajer. Not a retrospective ban.

How can they justify that? Unless McGregor has some kind of nervous twitch, it’s pretty obvious what he was doing.

This Nations League setup is interesting...at least it stops pointless friendlies....unless you're Denmark players on strike

    Re: General Football Discussion 2017-18

Dunno how much people are following the Copa Libertadores, but it remains so beautifully, quintessentially South American. The knockout rounds have been marred by several clubs fielding ineligible players. Apparently CONMEBOL introduced a system that clubs can access that will tell them if a player still has a lingering suspension from a previous club. Which sometimes might be going back several years. But several clubs were told by that system that they were fine, only to have it come out afterward that they fielded ineligible players. River Plate essentially got away with it, as no one complained within an allotted complaint period. Santos had a 0-0 first leg against Estudientes turned into a 3-0 loss, but Santos only found out a few hours before the second leg. Santos didn't win and supporters were peeved so started basically rioting near the end of the match. Stupid on all parts.
