Money in the Bank Money in the Bank 2017 - Money in the Bank Ladder Match

With the contract inside that case, the victorious Superstar will guarantee himself a WWE Championship opportunity any time they wish in the subsequent year.

SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon named the six participants on the May 23 edition of the blue brand: United States Champion Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler and Shinsuke Nakamura.

No stranger to Money in the Bank, or Ladder Matches in general for that matter, the veteran Ziggler will perhaps walk into the June 18 pay-per-view with a distinct advantage. After all, he did ascend to the top of the ladder back in 2012 to capture the coveted briefcase.

Among the numerous wars Owens and Zayn have been involved in over the years, the former friends turned longstanding adversaries have also competed in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, fighting for the WWE World Heavyweight Title contract in 2016. Add to that experience the unending supply of unbridled skill and tough-as-nails nature that both brawlers possess, and you quickly realize that either one of them could be destined to take possession of the WWE Title contract sooner or later.

While Corbin, Styles and Nakamura have never competed in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match, all three should bring a considerable amount of excitement to such a chaotic environment.

Corbin is such a brutal force of nature that WWE’s top brass may have traveled into the future and gotten a look at The Lone Wolf back when they were designing this type of match. To say that the cunning Superstar will not only survive, but excel amidst such chaos is an understatement. Without question, The Lone Wolf thrives in matches built on anarchy and will surely be a dangerous foe that his opponents cannot afford to take lightly.

Arguably one of the greatest competitor in WWE today, Styles has demonstrated his ability time and time again, adapting to any style or match put in front of him. Translation, he will no doubt feel right at home at Money in the Bank. This will be true whether he is utilizing one of the many ladders placed around the ring to compete on several levels or using one of them as a painful weapon of destruction.

Just the thought of what Nakamura could bring to Money in the Bank is simply astonishing. Picture WWE’s Rockstar executing his precision Strong Style strikes while wielding a ladder at his adversaries at lightning speed. Can you imagine him incorporating dangerous rungs into one of his many submission maneuvers and weakening his opponents so badly that they are unable to climb anything at all? For certain, The Artist Known at Shinsuke Nakamura is ready to make the Money in the Bank Ladder Match his canvas.

Find out who climbs their way to glory at WWE Money in the Bank, Sunday, June 18 at 8 ET/5 PT, streaming live on WWE Network.

Re: Money in the Bank 2017 - Money in the Bank Ladder Match

I think we can discount Kevin Owens right off the bat given that he's the US champion. To be honest, I'm really pissed that he's even in the match since IMO titles should be defended on ppv so he should be in his own match.

I think Dolph Ziggler is equally as unlikely to win the match since I don't feel as if he's someone that WWE want to push as a main event star right now.

AJ Styles I'm also going to discount as A) he has unfinished business with Owens and the US title after that count-out loss and B) he's someone who doesn't need the MITB briefcase. You could put Styles back in the main evnet against Jinder Mahal tomorrow and you wouldn't bat an eyelid. He's someone that's one of WWE's top commodities and he can be placed anywhere on the card whenever WWE want. I feel the MITB is more of a tool to boost someone who isn't necessarily a main eventer into that upper echelon. Not saying that's exclusively what it is but given the people in this particular match, then I think that's definitely what they're aiming for here.

That leaves Nakamura, Zayn and Corbin.
Nakamura is another who has that vie about him where you couldn't really bat an eyelid if he was to be placed in the main event tomorrow so that leads me to believe that perhaps he won't be winning it. I'm a little unsure about where WWE are goign to place Nakamura on the card going forward. They've put him in with Ziggler for his first main roster feud which is bog standard as Ziggler is one of those go-to guys for getting new top talents over. Their jobber to the stars if you will. But I don't know if WWE sees Nakamura as a main event star or if they'l have him in the mid card for a while first before he gets up there. I wouldn't be surprised to see him vs Owens for the US title at some point once Owens vs Styles is done.
I think Zayn and Corbin are the most likely contenders to win this match. Corbin seems to be the early favorite according to reports. I think that either guy winning could be a great boost for them. Corbin has been pushed quite a bit since making his main roster debut at last years Wrestlemania when he won the Andre the Giant Battle Royal, where he was put into main event matches against Styles and Cena back around October-November time. Zayn since moving to Smackdown from Raw seems to be getting a better rub of the green too and could be in line for a run at the main event in he not too distant future. Holding the MITB case would certainly aid that.

Even though Corbin is the favorite, I'm gong to go with Zayn winning it. I could then see Corbin and Zayn continuing their feud, and fighting over the case with Corbin taking it from Zayn and going on to win the title eventually. This could eventually down the line end with Zayn beating Corbin for the title to finally reach that goal he's been working towards. Some fantasy booking on my part perhaps but I could see a scenario like this happening.

This looks like it could be excellent. A friend of mine who is now just a casual fan got pretty excited about the idea of this so I might have company for the show, which is quite nice.

I'm pretty stoked for this has potential to be one of the better MITBs of the last couple of years.

Love me some Rusev but I'd prefer this stay as it is. Plus I like the idea of Rusev costing Orton his rematch in order to "ruin" the main event and stick it to management and getting into a fued with Orton; I think those two could do some good work together and Randy putting Rusev over would make me very happy.

Re: Money in the Bank 2017 - Money in the Bank Ladder Match

I believe there is a huge possibility to see Rusev being added to the match and then winning it. If they don't add Rusev, I believe Corbin will win the match. Vince is very high on him, and to be honest he's got the looks, the proper size, he's good in the ring but his promos are weak. I love the fact that they had him attack Sami after their match, he should be a dominant heel. As for AJ I feel after Orton he will challenge Mahal for the title at Summerslam so I can't see him winning the match. As for the rest competitors in the MITB match I can't see any of those winning the match.

The only concern I have is by having almost all of your top talent added in one match there is not enough talent to build a proper PPV card.

They're going to do the Women's match, plus Women's MitB. Tag title match with Breezango and Usos. New Day getting something. Mahal vs Orton. Dillenger getting a match. And probably Mojo too. Harper vs Rowan again as well.

Re: Money in the Bank 2017 - Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Not hoping for a great match here tbh. "All star" style matches in WWE recently always find a way to not live up to the hype since the guys always seem to hold back a bit. I dunno if thats because the WWE don't want to risk them getting injured or if the WWE just feel that their names is enough to sell the match so they don't have to try as hard but whatever it is they just always seem to not live up to expectation.

In anycase my money is on Corbin to win this one here. I feel the WWE do see money in the guy and i reckon this gives them a chance to give him that little bit more of a push without throwing him directly into the title picture.

Or you could just watch Smackdown since your boycotting on a show Jinder was on TV five minutes of last week.

How is it ridiclous? I've been told of you don't like something don't watch by a large amount of people and now Im not, it's ridiculous becuase on one show the guy which is the main (but not the only) reason is barely on it. It's the opposite example of lesnar bein on a show with causal fans turining in. He is often on the show for about 1 segment which last 5 minutes but he brings in fans anyway. Thats Jindar for ME but instead of getting my view they don't. It's simple.

Yeah if you tape it. I can't tape a wwe show otherwise I forget to watch it or find out results from fellow fans and lose intrest the show completly. But like I said I'm there are lots of factors of me not watching raw or Smackdown just jindar is a more recent and main reason but not the only.

I despised Jinder winning the title. Still do. But he was fine in his short time on SD this week.

Re: Money in the Bank 2017 - Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Pretty excited for this one, it has all the potential to be the best Money in the Bank match yet in my opinion. It's bound to get a lot of time allowing for each individual to get in their own spots while also potentially not just being a spot fest. You only have six wrestlers involved so it's not likely to feel to clustered. All six are involved in an angle with someone, so there's plenty of potential for story-line advancement in the match itself outside of just determining a Mr. Money in the Bank. And of course, every wrestler in here is talented in some way or another. As for who will win it, my money's on Baron Corbin. The only other person who I think has a shot of winning it is Sami. There's no way we're not getting an Owens/Styles rematch after that finish, and neither man really need the briefcase. I just don't think WWE views Dolph as the guy, he's kinda relegated to upper-card enhancement. He's talented enough to always be positioned on the card, but it's not likely to to lead to a long-lasting push. His feud with Miz was probably the best they treated him in ages, but all that did for him was give him a really short transitional IC Championship reign were his only successful defense was against Curt Hawkins. And I honestly just think it's too early for Nakamura. Zayn could win it but I honestly think Corbin needs it more. Of course I'm being guided by the reports claiming high stock in Baron but if he wasn't winning at Money In The Bank, I'm not too sure why they had Sami beat him at Backlash, & subsequent Smackdown.

Re: Money in the Bank 2017 - Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Looking forward to this match. It has the potential to be an excellent match. Surprised that Rusev isn't in it. Ruling out former heavyweight champs AJ or Owens for this as they don't need the briefcase. Ziggler is a lower midcarder now. That leaves Nakamura, Zayn or Corbin. Hopefully Nakamura or Zayn win but I can see Corbin winning it.
