    RIP Chris Cornell

    Another grunge icon gone.

Chris Cornell, lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave, died Wednesday night, his representative told CNN.

Cornell, 52, was in Detroit performing with Soundgarden, which had embarked on a US tour in April. Brian Bumbery, his representative, called Cornell's passing "sudden and unexpected" in a statement to CNN.
"His wife Vicky and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing, and they will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause," the statement read. "They would like to thank his fans for their continuous love and loyalty and ask that their privacy be respected at this time."

    Re: RIP Chris Cornell

RIP. Knowing people who have committed suicide, there are many reasons for that choice. It doesn't matter how much money you have, how old you are, sometimes it just comes down to thinking that's the only option you have. Not trying to get into a debate in this memorial thread though. Maybe we can post some of our favorite songs, live performances etc.

I love both Soundgarden and Audioslave, I'll be listening to them today in his honor, as well as his solo stuff. He had such a great, memorable voice.

    RIP Chris Cornell.

My second favorite Grunge band / singer of all time, second only to Eddie Veder.

Rest in peace man. Shit sucks, looks like he finally lost his life long battle to depression.
Time stood still, and it shared with me all that had been, and all that was to come.

That's weird, I had made a cd of soundgarden, audios lave and solo stuff from Cornell awhile back. Last song on the cd- Pretty Noose. Which is weird because he hung himself- so when it got to 5hat song I had to skip it.

He was always one of my fav singers- he could sing ome thing as heavy as Jesus Christ Pose, Big Dumb Sex, then turn around and sing something soulful or a ballad

Man, I've loved both Soundgarden and Audioslave. His voice and what he has contribute to music will never be forgotten. I'm listening to his music right now on iHeart Radio, what a great tribute to what he's done for music in general. RIP Chris Cornell
