Bye Leceister. Good run but probably weren't winning this tie even at full strength, let alone with the injuries and suspensions they had.

Bayer and Real in extra time.

Its not surprising that Ronaldo did nothing all match until the times he scored. The only time I noticed Ronaldo all game was when he scored. He never got involved with the build up play, or make great runs with the ball, its always great pass from blank and Ronald scores. But good game from Madrid but Bayern were hard done by. It wasn't a red for me but I see why the ref thought it was from his position and the same with the 2nd goal from CR7 when it should have been called offside.

Frankly I don't care what any player does if he bags a hat-trick to take my team into the last four of the Champions League.

Leicester should be really proud of what they achieved.

Great achievement for Leicester. Never expected them to make it this far. When Ranieri was sacked, I was annoyed and wanted them go down(heat of the moment). Then a new manager comes in and the players finally start to perform and get the results to stay up in the league and I'm glad now that they stayed up. Great CL run for Leicester.

Real Madrid knock Bayern Munich out. Hopefully Real Madrid go out in the semis.

Barcelona overturned the PSG result in miraculous style but I can't see a strong Juve side conceding 3. Even if they do, I'm expecting Juve to go through. Come on Juve.

Leicster showed great heart last night and didnt stop going to the final whistle, just wasnt there night at the end of the day.

Marcelo probably had the best game of his carear last night constant threat down that left hand side, great example of what an attacking left back should be!

Dispite being offside for one of his goals typical Ronaldo scores a has trick in yet another big game, that bloke is off the charts.

Still sticking to Real being Champions again this year.

Spanish side bailed out by match officials. Oh does that sound familiar over the years and especially this season.

I love Ancelotti and he can definitely feel his team were robbed by the officials last night. Red cards for winning a ball in a tackle and TWO offside goals. Ridiculous. If Monaco and Juventus go through tonight I hope one of them wins it or at the very least Real Madrid don't win it this year.

I want to watch Monaco vs Dortmund to see a high scoring game but I missed a Barcelona come back last time, if it happens again I want to see it but I doubt it, then again I said that about the PSG match.

I can't see Barca doing it again, I think they'll conceed at least one goal too, so that'll mean they'll need to score 5 against a very good Juventus side, who won't crumble like PSG did.
I have a plan so cunning......

Not risking it AGAIN, I turned the PSG game of after 5 minutes because I thought it was a waste. Either way it will still he a huge game. Who ever is winning this will win the CL I guarantee it.

Fantastic wins for Juventus and Monaco. Barca couldn't score past that Juve defence. I'm glad that Barca are out. Really don't want to see a repeat final from last year so hopefully Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid clash in the semis.

Want Monaco to win this now, it will be different from the Spain love fest from UEFA. Atletico doesn't deserve it after that pen call against Leicester which basically cost them the tie. Anyway on to the real European competition, the Europa league (kidding) we got to be Anderlecht at home because I don't trust us to get top 4 since we have to rely on others to drop points which is unlikely.

Re: Champions League and Europa League Discussion 18th-20th April 2017

So apparently Dortmunt got on their team bus and then police kept them from leaving for almost 20 minutes. WHAT THE FUCK? How much can this team get fucked over? The team suffers a FUCKING TERRORIST ATTACK and has to play a day later, then they basically get to relive it because the police are apparently unaware that there will be a bus caring the team like there is at every professional football match in Europe. Not thinking Dortmund would have won the tie regardless - their defensive frailties made them unlikely at best - but can't help but feel like they have been fucked over something fierce.

For me, kinda even between wanting to see Monaco, Atletico, or Juventus win. Will be kinda happy with anyone but Real - they won it last year and the calls yesterday against Bayern were atrocious. Usually the refs reserve that kind of favoritism for Barcelona. Or Juventus, if its a Serie A match. Do find it a bit amusing that some people seem to be viewing Monaco as a small underdog. Less heralded, obviously, but they probably spend the most money of any European club outside of the big four leagues and PSG. They spent about 200m Euros in the past 3 years, thought has been offset by some big sales. They spent about 35m in the past year on 3 fullbacks. This is not a small club - this is a very rich club with a VERY rich owner in a less prestigious league that has spent heavily in the past 5-6 years but more smartly in the past couple of years. All that said, its nice to see a club from outside the big leagues in there so it would be cool to see them win it.

Re: Champions League and Europa League Discussion 18th-20th April 2017

I think the issue with Ronaldo isn't that he is anonymous until he scores, there are lots of strikers like that. The issue is that he is actively bad for long periods to the detriment of the team.

Obviously he should play, obviously he is a wonderful player, but he has regressed significantly as an all-round threat in the last year or two, and that is reflected in the numbers.

He actually reminds me a bit of Falcao at Utd and Torres at Chelsea, as if he is still coming to terms with a physical drop-off and still trying to do everything a second quicker than his body will allow.

Falcao seems to have bounced back well though.

Re: Champions League and Europa League Discussion 18th-20th April 2017

Ronaldo's all round play is really poor these days. His intelligence, positioning and finishing is as deadly as ever, and he's still better right now than 99.99% of all players ever. But I agree his all round play is poor and as long as he's the centrepiece of the team and the man that everything goes through, then he will stop Real Madrid being a free flowing team.

But the thing is, while he still brings in the obscene numbers he does, he is basically undroppable. But if you asked me who I'd rather have in my team between him and, say, Luis Suarez, then it's Suarez for me.

zouma landed the same way from a shorter drop and was out for a year, so my hopes aren't high. But if he is injured rashford gets a long run upfront. Shame for ibra though.
