Some of my favorite albums from this year that I've heard so far:

    Logic - Everybody
Tyler, The Creator - Flower Boy
    Kendrick Lamar - DAMN
Linkin Park - One More Light
    Stone Sour - Hydrograd

Next up on my listen list is Lana Del Rey's "Lust For Life".

Wasnt a big fan of Everybody. Lacked much subtlety for me. Much preferred his last album and mixtape.

Flower Boy is wonderful. Was just listening to it. Obviously DAMN is great. One More Light has been played a million times by me. Love Lust For Life too. So many good albums out this year.

Im trying to gove Vic Mensa and Passenger's new albums some proper listens.

Top 3 so far are Digital Druglord, Apricot Princess and SATURATION for me this year.

I don't know how, but Manchester Orchestra's "Black Mile To The Surface" might be their best album ever. Quite the experience listening to it. Up there in my top five right now.

Yep, it's awesome alright, I've listened to it three times since Sunday afternoon.

Re: The Awesome Albums of 2017 Thread

I haven't fallen in love with a ton of stuff this year but here's probably my standouts, just going down the list

    • Acceptance - 'Colliding By Design' - Stunning comeback album, never would have expected this kind of significant jump forward from a band that's been out of the game for 10+ years.
    • As It Is - 'okay.' - The best pop punk album of the year and one of the best non-Wonder-Years efforts I've heard in a while.
    • B.o.B. - 'Ether' - Okay this isn't one of the BEST albums I've heard all year but it's a surprisingly good record from a guy I'd totally written off.
    • Dua Lipa - 'Dua Lipa' - My pop album of the year so far, tons of awesome, empowering tunes.
    • In Hearts Wake - 'Ark' - Refreshing return to form after a lackluster second half to their double album a few years ago.
    • Kendrick Lamar - 'DAMN.' - Obligatory
    • Linkin Park - 'One More Light' - Also not a super amazing album but has unfortunately benefited from some newfound poignancy. Can't stop spinning the title track and "Heavy."
    • Paramore - 'After Laughter' - A notch below their last but lyrically it's Hayley's best work yet.
    • Starset - 'Vessels' - It's nice to see a radio rock band in this day and age still trying to do some interesting stuff.
    • Stormzy - 'Gang Signs and Prayers' - Simultaneously an absolute banger and a tear-jerker. Fascinating rap record.

4:44 was great, and probably a top 5 Hov album.

Re: The Awesome Albums of 2017 Thread

Villains by Queens of the Stone Age came out yesterday.

It's very good, not quite their best work (I still think Like Clockwork is their best album) but there's a lot to love. I've listened to Villains of Circumstance at least 10 times already and it's genuinely one of my favourite songs ever.

Re: The Awesome Albums of 2017 Thread

I almost made this thread thinking no one may have made a thread for it this year. I'll definitely do the WC's albums of the year list again at the end of the year though.

So far the projects that have stood out to me are:

    Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
Charlie XCX - Number 1 Angel
    SZA - Ctrl
Tyler, The Creator - Flower Boy
Freddie Gibbs - You Only Live 2wice
    Syd - Fin
    Thundercat - Drunk
    Joey Bada$$ - ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$
    BROCKHAMPTON - Saturation
Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory
    A$AP Ferg - Still Striving
    BROCKHAMPTON - Saturation II

I'm also looking forward to the new LCD Soundsystem and Chelsea Wolfe albums.

Re: The Awesome Albums of 2017 Thread

The Thundercat, Manchester Orchestra, and War On Drugs are probably on top for me.

'Villians' is just like the last couple of QOTSA albums: pretty good. Nothing really makes them stand that out though, especially this one with being such a closed off project.

I still have a lot to listen to and I'm quite far behind.

If there was a thread, "Everything Now" by Arcade Fire for most disappointing album of 2017.

Grizzly Bear's "Painted Ruins" is more great stuff from them while Brand New's "Science Fiction" was definitely worth the 8 year wait. Both are probably going to make it into my end of year top ten when it's all said and done.

My most hated single of the year. Radio stations here will not stop playing it.

Makes it even more bittersweet that this is most likely the end of the line for them. Boo.

The whole album is so bland compared to their past capabilities. Most of the songs feel really phoned in or feel like they never progress or get out of first gear. They're really good at creating an epic or important feeling and I feel like that's completely absent on this record. Also feels like their worst record lyrically ('Peter Pan' AND 'Infinite Content' are worst song of the year candidates) and they come across as really uneducated to what they're trying to satire. Just a big step down.

Best song on it is Signs Of Life mostly because it sounds like a Talking Heads song, but like a C-level Talking Heads song.

Brand New album is good and this is coming from someone who never got into Brand New but it's probably not an album I'd go to a lot. Lady Talent raves about the new album and loves them a whole lot.

Haven't heard the new Grizzly Bear album and I really need to because they're terrific.

Only heard a couple of songs so far but AVĪCI (01) is really good, Lonely Together with Rita Ora is brilliant.

Not normally my kind of music but do like a lot of Avicii's work
