JOSH DRAKE INTERVIEW: GT ACADEMY, ATHEISM, POLITICS, MODERN LIFE
SHELBY - WBTV's Paul Cameron went to Shelby, North Carolina to interview Team Chevrolet's Josh Drake about becoming the youngest driver on the WRA circuit and his life outside the race track. He spoke about his inclination to Atheism and his displeasure for his own home state and its irrational politics. "What's next? A goddamn bathroom bill?" He said as he unknowingly foreshadowed the events of the following month. He also had numerous issues with his parents, always butting heads over Atheism. He joined the Gran Turismo Academy at age 9 and never looked back, winning 3 titles there. He became an Atheist in 2013 to the dismay of his entire family and has since wanted out of the country and into the Netherlands. He has identified as neither a liberal nor a conservative, but a 'free thinker'. It's pretty much liberalism without microaggressions, safe spaces, etc.

FERRARI EXPECTED TO FINISH FIRST IN CONSTRUCTORS' CHAMPIONSHIP, CHEVY WITH TOP TALENT

BERLIN - It looks like Ferrari may be the team to beat this year as they have the resources necessary to take home the title. However, Chevrolet may be a dark horse as they have some of the best talent on the circuit with Drake, Rolfsen, and the Westgate brothers. Other teams expected to challenge for the gold include Audi, Koenigsegg, Jaguar, Porsche, and Mercedes. The performances of Ford, Dodge, Nissan, BMW, and Toyota may depend on where the cards fall in terms of cars who failed to finish. The only manufacturers that have very little chance of scoring a championship are Citroen and Honda, two teams struggling with finances.

    RACE SUMMARY
The WRA began with a literal and figurative bang when 3 crashes occurred on the first lap; A crash involving Yoshihiro Uetake, Kenyon Samuel, and Simon Bolat at T5, another crash at T8 collecting Alex Builden, Johan Isaksson, and Shaqir Hassan, and a third crash near T21 where Fernando Puntas slammed into the water barrels at the entrance of pit road. The race resumed on lap 4 with Alfredo Di Mercurio in the lead. On lap 26, Di Mercurio and Adam Haas made contact on the backstretch and slid into the wall. Both drivers went into pit road to repair damage suffered from the incident. Another lead change occurred when Almer Rolfsen was spun out on pit road by Riku Raimainen after a tangle near T20. Lap 46 was marred in controversy when a black flag was mysteriously shown on the electronic flag systems installed throughout the course, followed by a yellow flag, and then back to a green flag. This triggered an actual caution for repairs, putting several people on pit road a lap down and/or in the back of the field. After the lights were fixed, the green flag wove on lap 49 as a new leader in Almer Rolfsen emerged. On lap 59, another car slammed into the water barrels, this time Team Ferrari's Marco Nesselkamp. This set up a green-white-checkered finish with Ian McCabe in the lead. On the final lap, Katie Longwood charged into 2nd past Josh Drake and Almer Rolfsen to make it 3-wide down the backstretch. Her and Joon Sung-Woo battled it out for the rest of the race, with Longwood really spinning out at T19 and making contact with Joon Sung-Woo at T20, but it was Sung-Woo who took the checkered flag as Longwood finished 2nd. It was a rough night for Audi and Nissan as every car on both teams failed to finish the race.

    STORYLINES
INTERVIEW: ALMER ROLFSEN; CHARITIES WITH DRAKE AND MORE!
LILLEHAMMER - 1 down, 4 to go. Today we're interviewing Team Chevrolet's Almer Rolfsen. He is another graduate of the GT Academy who is also friends with teammate Josh Drake. In fact, Drake and Rolfsen have started a fundraising campaign to build basic infrastructure in Africa. Other than that' there really isn't much known about this figure other than the fact that he somehow survived a willy willy in Perth.

    RACE SUMMARY
The next stop in the season was the newly-built Makurdi Forest Circuit constructed as per the orders of dictator Goodluck Jonathan. It is a high-speed 12-turn course with 2 chicanes at T5 and T12, similar to the Monza circuit, but with way more elevation.
Josh Drake would lead the field to the green and dominate for most of the race until lap 23 when Anderson Williams and Dusan Milosevic suffered a collision at T4. From there Drake would continue pulling away until lap 57 when Almer Rolfsen crashed into the wall and blocked off the entire pit road entrance. Rolfsen was running 3rd at the time of caution. This set up a memorable one-lap showdown between the Chevrolet of Drake and the Ferrari of Alfredo Di Mercurio. It didn't start very promising for Drake as he was held up by the lapped Ford of Erikh Albirosyan at T1. Drake spun Albirosyan out at T2 but was nearly an entire second behind Di Mercurio. at T8, Drake pulled off an incredible move for the lead as he squeezed himself through the hole in the wall that was there for safety crews, drove between two trees and launched off of the hill and landed on top of Di Mercurio, heavily damaging the suspension of Drake and the roof of Di Mercurio. The two would continue on and Drake would edge Di Mercurio by .001 second at the finish. Drake led every single lap of the race. After the race, Drake was joined in victory lane by Goodluck Jonathan who congratulated him on the incredible victory.
