He goes into the Elimination Chamber and loses like an idiot. The Miz has been shown to be cunning and intelligent. Why would he hit his finisher on Bray then go attack Cena? His MO at the start of the match was to take everyone out as fast as possible.

After that, he had his opportunity to do something with that debacle on SmackDown, but WWE did not. OK I get The Miz asked for the week off, but even while he was filming his movie they did a promo. Even if Miz didn't want to do that, a commentator or Bryan or someone could have said something. Hell, Maryse was there, she could have cut a promo about how frustrated she was that Miz lost the chamber and blame it on Nikki for messing up her dress which caused Maryse to not go out with Miz. Do something with characters that you've established. Instead of the James Ellsworth garbage, WWE could have used Miz. At the PPV, scrap an Ellsworth segment and have Miz cut a promo about if he loses he refuses to show up on SmackDown this week. Or have him barge in on Talking Smack. It's not rocket science.
I'll give a non-hive mind response to your post.

Surprisingly, there are plenty of casual and diehard fans who don't have the network, and don't see talking smack. While it is a good concept and decent platform for those who view it.

In terms of a character, there are only two people who think Miz is cunning or intelligent: him and his wife. In a match, he does underhanded things and often comes out looking like an idiot, because that's what him and WWE want to portray. He's the one who thinks he's smart. But he's so egotistical, self centered, and has tunnel vision, that he makes dumb mistakes. That's part of what makes him ironic. The average fan is supposed to take joy in watching his plans be foiled and him made to look like a fool.

As for them not bringing him up, who really knows? So much of what happens or doesn't happen on WWE tv has reasons behind it.
