Rev Pro Revolution Pro Wrestling General Discussion Thread

Revolution Pro Wrestling General Discussion Thread

Founded in the summer of 2012 after separating from IPW:UK by Andy Quildan, and based in Portsmouth, RPW is probably one of the most notable companies as part of the rise of BritWres (next to PROGRESS and ICW no doubt... and I guess IPW:UK too). Its associations with Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling have allowed it to feature some of the top world beating Japanese and American wrestlers. AJ Styles, Kazuchika Okada, Katsuyori Shibata, Kevin Steen are just some of the major names to have once had a foray in Revolution Pro Wrestling. In fact, there association has lent them Katsuyori Shibata as their British Heavyweight Champion and premier headliner.

The best way to get their shows are on their own streaming service, RPW on Demand (for only $7.99!)

    Upcoming events include:

Live at the Cockpit 13 on February 5th
Live in Portsmouth 7 on February 24th
Live at the Cockpit 14 on March 5th
Epic Encounter 2017 on April 13th

Keith Lee vs. Tomohiro Ishii might be my favorite match of the year. Brilliant stuff and Lee has been on fire these last few months. Late push WOTYC.

Re: Revolution Pro Wrestling General Discussion Thread

I've been watching the show today, and would agree with the praise for Lee/Ishii. This is the Keith Lee I want to see more of in 2018, not pandering to the crowd with 'BASK IN MY GLORY' gimmick working that takes me out of the match. I found he utterly irritating against Riddle in their last man standing match when he kept goofing around and looking for chants. He was in serious mode from the minute the bell rung and was the monster he needed to be for the underdog performance Ishii was going to turn in. It's right up there with the very best Ishii G1 matches. That struggle to hit the suplex on Lee and those Puro style kick out at 1 after a big move got killer reactions from the crowd. It probably won't make my top 10 matches of the year, but won't be far from it.

Think about how stacked Ishii's year has been in terms of singles matches. The NJ Cup run, The Omega trilogy, The MVP of the G1 and these Rev-Pro tours against Riddle and Lee. All he has dragging him down this year is having Yano as a tag team partner.

I actually thought Naito/Scurll and Nagata/Gibson was pretty good from the same night. About to watch the Suzuki tag match now.

Minoru Suzuki was on his way to having his best match of the year with Matt Riddle until it turned into everything I hate about Minoru Suzuki.

    Suzuki fucking sucks.

Sam Adonis landed Rev-Pro in hot water tonight when he said someone in the crowd had down syndrome and then called someone else the six-lettered f word slur. Andy Q quickly apologised for the unscripted promo and I'm pretty sure Adonis will be blacklisted from many Britwres promotions after this.

Just read about this. In a world of sensitivity and being careful with your heel heat, there’s no excuse for that shit.

Just a question is this the first time Pac and Ospreay have faced each other ever? Rev Pro I heard great things about, just with all the companies I watch it's hard to add another one and watch consistently. This Match alone has me wanting to watch this company more going forward.

Oh look, Rev Pro are running a show near me shortly. Sweetness.

Puro chaps, who are Yuu & The Great-O-Kharn? Worth going out of the way for?

Yuu is a very technically talented women's wrestler who just left her home promotion in Japan last month because she wanted to wrestle in Europe more. I hope that she has a good opponent. O-Kharn is NJPW young lion Oka on his excursion. Early reports on him were he was adapting terribly but since he got a manager he has been doing better. I don't know if my expectations would be that high for ringwork but he might do something fun.

Re: Revolution Pro Wrestling General Discussion Thread

The Great O-Kharn isn't really put in much position to impress, feels like he was always given the opener spot on a show to have a match just to give him a W and slowly get him over with the crowd through wins even though the feel of the gimmick is something out of early 90s WWF and it's so out of place with anything else on the show. It's a really weird path to go down considering most people who go to Rev-Pro already like Japanese wrestlers and would know this is a young lion who won't use this gimmick when he goes back. IDK if maybe the gimmick was Andy Q thinking that he needed to be presented like that for their TV show (that I think has been cancelled) to get him over with new casual fans who are channel hopping.

Yuu could be a real shot in the arm for Rev-Pro's womens division which now needs to be restocked.
