    2017 Gigs And Whatnot!

    So 2016 is nearly at an end and for me its been a very good year for seeing bands especially ones i'd not seen before like Ritchie Blackmore and Blue Oyster Cult and i've already got so many lined up for next year.

    Highlights from 2016;

    Ritchie Blackmore
    Steel Panther
    AC/DC - Little controversial with Axl but i absolutely loved it and enjoyed it
    Blue Oyster Cult
    Skindred

    Lows;

    Neil Young - Sounded great but setlist was awful
    Europe - Again like above but setlist was awful until they played what they were there to play

    Next year i've now got the following which i'm very much looking forward to;

    Green Day for the 1st time
    Deep Purple for the 1st time
    ELO at Wembley Stadium
    Sabaton for the 1st time
    The Who
    Iron Maiden
    Black Sabbath

    Can't wait, what have you all got on?

    RIP Bradley

    Re: 2017 Gigs And Whatnot!

    I only went to one concert last year and that was Iron Maiden. Easy highlight wasn't the concert itself but meeting Bruce Dickinson the night before (we were staying in the same hotel) and chatting with him for a few hours. I saw him again in the hotel lobby having breakfast the morning after the concert, around 12 hours after they hit the stage so getting to thank him for the awesome show was unforgettable.

    In 2017, so far I'll be seeing Guns N Roses, Jimmy Barnes, Bruce Springsteen (all in February) then Green Day in May.

    Fallen of the gig bandwagon hard this year, only been to one (Daughtry) & that was back in May. Looked at a couple of recent ones (Frank Turner & Biffy Clyro), but ticket prices combined with travel & unfortunately hotels made them too expensive.

    Looking at going to see The King Blues in February but it's the same day as a cross country run I got so I'm not sure yet.

    I just found out that Max and Igor Cavalera will be performing the Sepultura album Roots in its entirety live.
    And one of my current favorite bands Full Of Hell will also be playing on that show.

    Had my first one last night in Sabaton and its going to be hard for other gigs to be better than last night, absolutely incredible performance and they've got a new big fan in me.

    I've purchased tickets to go see Journey/Asia, Foreigner/Cheap Trick, and Kansas. Now just hoping to actually make the shows.

    Re: 2017 Gigs And Whatnot!

    Saw The Boss for the third time this time last week. 26 songs, three hours of non stop Bruce. The first time I saw him, he played the Born In The USA album start to finish. The second time it was Born To Run, so I didn't think he could top either of those two nights. Sure enough, he did. He kicked it off with one of my favourites, Darlington County and finished with an acoustic version of my wife's favourite, Thunder Road.

    Ready for Green Day in May!

    Only gig I'm interested in is if Rihanna tours Australia this year.

    Though Killswitch Engage are in Perth this month doing just their first album live, sorta tempting. But probably wont go.

    Thanks to Jabberwocky for the amazing Gabrielle gif

    Didn't get Metallica tickets but kind of glad i didn't due to the horrific pricing.

    Did however get one for Cheap Trick so another to add with probably UFO being added as well, so much music i'm going to this year

    Re: 2017 Gigs And Whatnot!

    Finally saw Green Day last night and Saturday night as well. Both shows were awesome, as expected. Billie Joe has a ton of energy and can get the crowd in the palm of his hand at any given moment. He invited someone up to play guitar on Knowledge then let that person keep the guitar. I like that he discouraged people from filming and live in the moment instead of recording it. Some people didn't listen, even those he was directly looking at and telling to put their phones down, so he got a hose and started spraying the crowd. That got the phones down pretty quickly. Managed to catch one of Tre's drumsticks and score a setlist as well.

    There were people who started camping outside the arena on Friday afternoon so they'd be first in line for the Saturday show. Apparently they were told they'd be let in before everyone else, which is fair enough. However the memo wasn't passed on to the other security, who declined their early entry. Although it was unfortunate for them, I laughed about it because I only lined up a couple of hours before the doors opened and they were behind me. When that concert finished, they were back in line outside the arena for the next night. Lucky for them, they got to go in early on Sunday night. Whether you call it dedication, crazy or just fucking stupid, I certainly wouldn't camp out for any band, or anything really.
