WWE NXT NXT Discussion: December 7th, 2016 - EVERYONE DESERVES IT

WARNING: Major spoiler in the preview, proceed at your own risk.

    ---

WWE NXT preview – Dec. 7, 2016: See the shocking NXT Championship Match from Osaka
This Wednesday at 8/7 C on WWE Network, see the NXT Championship Match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe from Japan that has the NXT Universe buzzing!

The NXT Universe was stunned Saturday when word came out of Osaka, Japan, that Shinsuke Nakamura had regained the NXT Championship from Samoa Joe. Just two weeks removed from his shocking defeat at TakeOver: Toronto, The King of Strong Style reclaimed the title in what was reported to be a hard-hitting battle with the Samoan submission specialist.

NXT fans outside of Japan will get the first opportunity to watch Nakamura and Joe’s historic match this Wednesday on WWE Network. Don’t miss your chance to see this epic fight!

What’s next for new NXT Tag Team Champions #DIY?
Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa’s year-long journey for the NXT Tag Team Championship reached its apex in Toronto, when the duo known as #DIY finally dethroned The Revival in an incredible 2-out-of-3 Falls Match to win the titles.

Now that they’ve reached the top of the mountain, what lies ahead for #DIY? Surely, The Revival aren’t going to walk away quietly without taking their rematch. Plus, there are plenty of other teams waiting in the wings to take a shot at NXT’s top tandem prize. Gargano & Ciampa have achieved their dream, but how long will they be able to hold onto the NXT Tag Team Titles? Find out this Wednesday at 8/7 C, only on WWE Network!

Big Damo in Sawyer out, what a trade. (Assuming Sawyer is definitely out anyway)

All in on Nikki and Asuka, though I'm worried the crowd won't be behind it enough.

Meh Nakamura. Hopefully it means a Joe call up ASAP.

Swann/Jose will always rule together. Also yay Kimber.

    Spoiler:

I solemnly swear I am up to no good

Fuck all of that. PERCY WATSON IS BACK!

    OH YEAH!

Fun episode of NXT though. Damo taking over for Sawyer could be amazing, the Asuka/Nikki tease was great. Kimber Lee is good, and that Joe/Nakamura match is one of Nak's better performances on the year.

I'm assuming Percy will now take over for Graves on commentary? Or at least keeping the color commentary seat warm until Corino get there.

Re: NXT Discussion: December 7th, 2016 - EVERYONE DESERVES IT

    - Of all the things I was expecting to see on NXT, the very, very last was a Percy Watson video package. I havn’t heard that name in years. Last I heard of Percy, he was implied to be behind a series of mysterious injuries to talent during the last few weeks of NXT Redemption before it got merged with FCW. I don’t even remember if he got released or got reduced to the darkest of dark matches. Still tho, good to see he’s still alive.

Aw, Sanity looks different without Sawyer Fulton. Amazing that I’m actually missing him. Word on the grapevine is that Sawyer Fulton’s got some sort of bicep/shoulder injury, but I’m going to instead believe that Sanity caught him politely obeying traffic laws and listening to smooth jazz and decided that this isn’t good for their image, so they kicked him to the curb. Seriously though, legit feel bad for Sawyer. Poor dude. Been in developmental for so long he’s been my go-to ‘NXT jobber push’ joke guy for years, switching between gimmicks and looks on the rare times he gets TV time, then when he finds something that sticks and actually starts getting some buzz, dude gets injured. Hopefully he can make some sort of recovery and get another chance but the Sanity train might by long gone by the time he’s cleared to return.

Heh. I got Seth Rollin’s NXT Headbanger flashbacks at Wolfe’s enthusiasticly violent flailing.

So who’s the ‘Bull Dempsey but with a bigger beard’ guy? Damo, I guess? According to commentary. I’ll have to google him. Should’ve gone with Samo. Then no-one would have to worry about SAnitY changing their name to DAnitY.

    - Aw, I was hoping for a three-way NXT Tag Team Title match. Still, this is good and acceptable.

Man, Regal’s such a cool boss. I wish my boss was like him. I can dig a series of no.1 contender matches, so we’re not stuck with Nakamura/Joe until the next Takeover. Booyah.

    - Why would the NXT Women’s Championship just randomly be sitting on a crate backstage somewhere? Was Asuka waiting in the shadows for, like, an hour, waiting for random women to glance at the belt so she can sneakily slide into view and make death eyes at them? Is this how she finds competition? I sound like I’m complaining but any tease for Asuka/Cross is a tease I’ll support 100%.

    - Another solid squash for Ember. I’m running out of ways to say ‘I can’t wait for Moon/Asuka yo.’ Kinda wish Ember had a secondary finisher, save that O-Face Stunner for special occasions so she doesn’t end up with a jacked-up spine.

    - Gotta admit, I’m a bit tired of Joe/Nakamura. The match was fine, no problem there, but damn do I want some fresh blood in the main event scene. Balor/Joe went on for a year, now after six-ish months Nakamura/Joe seems to be on it’s way out, and thank goodness. Hopefully the cage match next week is the final encounter, Joe gets moved up to – hopefully – Smackdown, and Nakamura fights, like, Elias Samson or something.

They took a bunch of jobbers they had no plans for and dress them up like Decay. At least Eric and Nikki know what to do with the gimmick and the others seem like hangers-on. I would have preferred Eric and Nikki to be a psychotic couple, without any of the deadweight.

Imagine those two working as a tag team. They could be these destructive heels, get Bull out of the comedy stuff and give Damo something to do besides be "that bearded guy." Throw in Tommy End and you have a threesome. Imagine them fighting the Authors of Pain.

This is a giant bad take. Yikes.

Anyway, Damo is the man, Wolf. Surprised you don't know of him. He is much, much better than Bull.

Jon if you're reading this, remember when I said that WWE loves to give black wrestlers 'dancer' as a stereotypical character trait and you wouldn't have it, well Percy Watson was dancing 10 seconds into his re-debut and his role is a commentator.

    OH YEAH~!

Thought he did alright on his first night. Not sure NXT needs 3 commentators but maybe they want to phase Graves or Phillips out now they're both doing commentary on the main roster.

Very Sami Zayn and the Zayniacs start to the show with DIY. DIY/Revival III

Sawyer is only injured I think, so it was interesting to see Sanity kick him out the group so early. Think it adds to their crazy vibe that they wouldn't have any sympathy for someone getting hurt. Damo ftw.

Wasn't really impressed by Joe/Nakamura III, quite the comedown from Toronto, but then again I already knew the result so it had that working against it.

'Give Damo something to do besides be that bearded guy'? It was his debut FFS and you've already decided that his gimmick is he has a beard and that's it. How about wait until the next time Damo's on to see his character development first, maybe let him say 1 word at least~! To those that haven't seen him before, he's a great big man and I think he has the highest ceiling of any recent NXT signing.

Re: NXT Discussion: December 7th, 2016 - EVERYONE DESERVES IT

I wasn't trying to disrespect Damo. For a big dude, he's pretty intense and has some heavy kicks. But Damo is a badass dude and a man's man. You might not want to hear this, but Full Sail isn't known for raising badasses. Samoa Joe and Bobby Roode are rare exceptions, but the fans know them from somewhere else. Austin Aries is still trying to find himself while trying to cater to the family friendly audience and Baron Corbin did as much whining as he did threatening. That being said, I'm intrigued of where they head with Damo and I wish him well.
