    The President Trump Thread

We really need a place for this.

We need a place to vent, to argue, to shitpost about everything US Politics related.

Americans, who did you vote for and why? Are either of these candidates worth voting for?

Will there be any last minute twists? Will Trump concede?

Non-Americans, what are your thoughts? Fear of what could happen, or laughing at the hilarity of it all?

And most importantly, can WC have a politics thread without it getting closed?

I'm staying up to watch this. I'm thinking Hillary wins by about 8%, Trump won't concede but Pence will concede on his behalf or some shit.

    Re: WC's 2016 Election Thread

When Hillary's peeps colluded to rig elections in her favor against Bernie, she became an enemy of Americans and democracy. When she hired Debbie Wasserman Schultz, following Debbie's resignation amidst the rigging controversy, she ensured that any democracy-respecting citizen would never vote for her.

As awful as Trump is, being able to vote for or against things has shaped the framework of my society. I would never vote Trump, but voting Hillary is practically voting against voting.

What a disgusting and sadly hilarious turn of events this has become.

I take it you voted 3rd party then? Or just not at all - from what I can see your 3rd party options are just as batshit (the Green Party candidate seems like a fucking moron).

Id rather vote anti democratic than for the devil personified. Hilary's done a fuckton of horrific shit and yet Trump is still a 100000000x worse. Sometimes you have to choose a lesser evil and Hilary is the obvious lesser evil. Just hope you guys have a better option when 2020 rolls in. At least the US wont implode if Hilary is in.

Everything Snow said although I do want to see the hilarity of Trump building his own Berlin Wall. What a guy...

    Re: WC's 2016 Election Thread

I think a meme I saw described it best:

Trump is what's wrong with American Culture and Hillary is what's wrong with American Government. But not all American Culture is bad so don't take that to literally.

And then there's a meme I agree with the most...

I can't wait for this season of America to be over.

I'm just happy I don't live there. I'll take my public Healthcare, cheaper post secondary education, longer life expectancy,55 week parental leave, less crime, and cold ass weather.

I just hope no violence erupts from all this.

I will echo the line "I'm just happy I don't live there". Talk about people finding themselves between a rock and a hard place. Hillary is corrupted to the bone while Trump is crazy. Greece has a shitty goverment and politics are shitty in general here so I get what many Americans are going through right now.

I didn't bother to vote for neither candidate. Both of them have massive criticisms and controversies above their heads, which is why I didn't go vote. I just can't trust Clinton, nor trust Trump to run this country.

I don't want to take that away from the voters, cause they have a right to vote and voice their opinion.

    Re: WC's 2016 Election Thread

I'm fascinated from the outside looking in. From the English POV I'd rather Clinton won as we've got enough on our hands to sort out with Brexit without having to deal with Trump and what that means to our relationship with the US in the future, but then there's the masochist in me that wants Trump to win just to see the fallout.

Is anyone voting on party loyalty/polices? That's what I always put a preference on when I vote but this year just seems to be down to personality of the candidates and who you hate less.

I did my due diligence a few weeks ago when I mailed in my ballot. Now it's time to just sit back and play the waiting game.

Agreed on the relationship aspect. Trump assumes we all going to help pay for the wall. Clinton seems more sane in regards to international relations.

Can't speak to party loyalty as I don't believe in the party system but regarding policies... this is less easy than it seems when people will say whatever they feel they need to in order to get elected (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eulMm9LVg00 - this is an older video, more recently she decried Sanders' policies before adopting them to defeat him) and you never know where their loyalty really lies. Becomes like marketing we become conditioned to ignore, and that's to the benefit of those in power, unfortunately.

    Re: WC's 2016 Election Thread

    I voted Trump of course.

No question in my mind that it is the right choice.

Hillary is corrupt and inept. Caused many American deaths in Benghazi because of poor decision making. She kept classified documents on unsecure servers and risked national security. She lied in front of Congress which by all rights should have disqualified her from ever holding public office again.

    Trump all the way.

    Re: WC's 2016 Election Thread

Well I already voted today, took a break from work to make sure my voice was heard. I voted for Hillary Clinton, yeah her hands are not clean either like Trump, but when I see how this guy acts on T.V daily it isn't a person I want as President. Making fun of a disabled Reporter and imitating him on one of you speeches was a low blow and shows that you don't have any home training. Clinton is a person I could go up to and ask advice from, on the other hand Trump would probably ask if I was legal first before anything else.
