Wrong-er. It was called soccer, then it was also called football, then it was also called association football - but it never stopped being soccer.

Pretty sure the name soccer is derived from 'association football' anyway. Not like it really matters.

    Re: The President Trump Thread

The rules of association football were codified in England by the Football Association in 1863 and the name association football was coined to distinguish the game from the other forms of football played at the time, specifically rugby football. The first written "reference to the inflated ball used in the game" was in the mid-14th century: "e heued fro e body went, Als it were a foteballe". The Online Etymology Dictionary states that the word "soccer" was "split off in 1863". According to Partha Mazumdar, the term soccer originated in England, first appearing in the 1880s as an Oxford "-er" abbreviation of the word "association".

It's called soccer in NZ, Oz, South Africa, Canada, in addition to the USA.

Time stood still, and it shared with me all that had been, and all that was to come.

    For sake of argument...

Jason, can you tell me how you personally benefit from Donald Trump being president?

Can you give me an example of his economic plan and budget that personally helps you?

The only reason I can see someone voting for Trump who is from WV is that they are ignorant enough to think coal is a logical choice for the future...Or that they are xenophobic and hoarding guns.

    Edit:

Actually, I am genuinely curious...Overall, what is it you like about Donald Trump and that you see fit for him to be POTUS?

To be quite honest I cannot name any part of his economic plan or budget that personally helps me.....just like I couldn't with President Obama or President Bush.

Thinking who you vote for President is going to personally affect you in that regard is foolish because it just doesn't. I have gotten about the same amount back in taxes since I started working 17 years ago.

What I have came to find is that you have to vote on issues that are personally important to you.

I had a much larger response typed up for this but I have learned in the past that people cannot discuss politics here without getting nasty, calling people names, and all out attacking those who disagree with them so you will never see that response.

Just put it this way....I FUNDAMENTALLY disagree with most if not all stances held by Hillary Clinton and those of the same ideology as her. I think they would lead the country down a very dark path and hurt us in ways that would affect this country for many years to come....if not permanently.

You probably feel the same way about President Trump.

    C'est la vie.

Only a fool will tell you this flag is a symbol of hate. It represents the men who fought and died with pride for our Confederate States.

I would love to read that response Dak. I dont see why you are afraid to post it. Who cares what people reply. Its just names on a computer screen.

All i know is Stephen Miller is fuuuucccckkked!!! I watched a few of his rants against judges blocking the ban. His responses are hilarious.

If the POTUS has all this power to do things in the name of national security...then why is the fact judges are blocking it even a topic for them to dicuss. If he is so powerful and can do it.....why even propose a 2.0 version?

The fact they have a 2.0 version proves that he cant simply do it without Judges having a say

I'm sure it just gets tiresome, plus most of his views that he is talking about have been discussed and dissected ad nauseam here. If you really want to know, it's not terribly hard to find them.

It gets frustrating and exhausting to be personally attacked by a group of people simply because we disagree.

Believe me, I have tried. It happens every time.

I really do wish we could share our thoughts, our ideas, and our beliefs here in an effort to understand where another person is coming from. That unfortunately is impossible.
