    **ALELUYA DE EL MESIAS**

Instantly, we notice on the stage a massive poster of The Brian Kendrick (ala The Rock at Rock Bottom in 1998) showing just how conceited the interim GM is right now. Meanwhile, in his expensive looking blue robe, DAMIEN SANDOW prances through the curtain, ahead of his big match with the ten times World Champion, Triple H, which was announced last week.

Joey Styles: Welcome to another edition of Friday Night Smackdown. I’m Joey Styles alongside WWE Hall of Famer, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, and King, we are kicking things off with a huge match tonight!! Damien Sandow is about to go one on one with the ten times World Champion, The Game, Triple H.

Jerry Lawler: Oh my!! I don’t know how smart this is of the Intellectual Saviour to be challenging Triple H, but he feels like he was caught off guard a few weeks ago when they previously went one on one, not knowing he was facing The Game until moments before the match.

Joey Styles: There will be no excuses this time, Jerry. Damien Sandow has had an entire week to prepare for this one. And King, we have to wonder just what kind of condition the knee of Triple H will be in after he was assaulted the morning of the Judgment Day Pay Per View twelve days ago…

Jerry Lawler: It cant be a hundred per cent, Joey. Not by a long shot.

Sandow stands in the ring, patiently waiting…

    **TIME TO PLAY THE GAME**

And to a huge pop, TRIPLE H emerges, spraying water on the stage, and takes a look to the gigantic poster of Kendrick - shaking his head at the pomposity of the interim GM - before power walking down the ramp, with his knee clearly heavily taped in preparation for tonight’s match.

    Joey Styles:
And as far as we are led to believe, the Minnesota Police Department have been unable to press charges on their main suspect behind that attack on Triple H, and despite trying to talk to The Game earlier today about the situation, I wasn’t able to get a comment from him.

Jerry Lawler: We still cant mention the guys name??

Joey Styles: Uh… no. Also, in store tonight, three more first round King of the Ring match ups - including the much publicised debut of Ted DiBiase Junior. We’ve been waiting for that for two months now, King. Tonight, we’ll find out if the hype is real behind the third generation superstar.

Jerry Lawler: Well, given the hype his old man has given him, I’m expecting the second coming here tonight. The Million Dollar Man has hyped his son for months, but tonight it’s time to pay the piper.

Joey Styles: And how about this for a main event; the interim General Manager, The Brian Kendrick - who in two weeks challenges Edge for the WWE Championship - teams with Tyson Tomko against Edge … and Finlay - the permanent General Manager of Smackdown. Now King, call me cynical, but I smell a rat here. After what Kendrick put Edge through last week, and the humiliation he’s putting Finlay through, this doesn’t sound genuine. I don’t see anyway at all, that Kendrick let’s this match happen as it stands.

Jerry Lawler: Well, yeah, it does seem a little … off to me. But, maybe, Kendrick wants to get his hands on his most hated foe, and the man he meets for the richest prize in the game in a couple of weeks.

Joey Styles: We’ll find out later tonight.

    Match 1:
    Damien Sandow vs. Triple H
Sandow comes straight ahead, but his first shot is blocked, and The Game fires off, beating Sandow into the ropes, and sends him out of the ring with a clothesline. He follows out, and dominates Sandow on the outside too, before dropping his signature knee back inside for a two count. It looks as though it could be a quick squash win for Triple H, but as he hooks Sandow up for a PEDIGREE, Sandow drops, and attacks the knee of The Game. And that’s where Sandow focuses all of his attack. Using the usual tricks when working a leg, Sandow keeps Triple H on the ground, but as he attempts a FIGURE FOUR, Triple H kicks Sandow away - to the floor!!! Smackdown heads into the first commercial of the night, with both men recovering, in and out of the ring.

    Commercial Break

Smackdown returns with Sandow AGAIN working the leg. The Intellectual Saviour of the Masses whacks the leg off the ring post, and back inside, looks to lock on another submission attempt, but falls prey to an inside cradle, 1...2...NO!!!! Sandow re-establishes control quickly with a Russian Leg Sweep, and follows that with the ELBOW OF DISDAIN!!! Sandow sends Triple H off the ropes, ducking down, allowing The Game to return with a Face buster … followed by a Spinebuster!!! 1...2...NO!!! Sandow kicks out, and The Game pushes back to his feet, limping on his leg, but backs Sandow up, pummelling him in the corner, sending him off the ropes and dropping Sandow with a back body drop. Sandow gets up, but is flattened down with a clothesline. The Game lines up for another Pedigree attempt, but this time is countered with a back body drop!!!

Sandow trades blows now with Triple H, sending The Game off the ropes, missing a clothesline, with The Game rebounding, knocking Sandow off his feet with a running high knee!!! Triple H then sells his knee again, giving Sandow another opening, chop blocking the leg, and applies the FIGURE FOUR!!! The Game struggles in the hold, but eventually turns the hold over, switching the pressure onto Sandow - who quickly makes a grab for the ropes. The Game begins a fight back from there, pounding Sandow, lighting him up in a fist fight, with a number of knock downs, until Sandow puts a stop to it with an eye rake. Sandow then taunts the fans, and runs off the ropes - running into a kick to the gut … PEDIGREE!!!! The Game hooks the leg, 1...2...3!!!!!
    Winner: Triple H @ 12:03

Joey Styles: Damien Sandow put up a much bigger fight tonight on Smackdown, but ultimately, he wasn’t able to get the better of The Game.

Jerry Lawler: Bad leg and all, The Game is still just too tough to crack for Damien Sandow.

Joey Styles: And now, Sandow can refocus his energies on the King of the Ring tournament - with his first match up set next week on Smackdown against M.V.P. And I’ve no doubt that Triple H wont want to be waiting for too long on a WWE Title opportunity.

Jerry Lawler: Without a doubt. That’s why he’s The Game, Joey. He’s here to be the best - and to be the best, you have to be champion.

Triple H poses in the ring, whilst Sandow doubles over on the outside, livid at coming up short again tonight…

Backstage, FINLAY arrives in the locker room, tossing his bag down, and unzipping it, bringing out his knee pads and boots, seemingly getting his gear together to prepare for tonight’s main event.

Or so he thinks. As he sits down, THE BRIAN KENDRICK - the interim GM - gleefully enters the picture, getting an eye-roll from the Irishman.

The Brian Kendrick: Looking forward to the match tonight, Finbo??

Finlay sighs, throwing his boots down, shaking his head.

Finlay: Let me guess … change of plans, right??

Kendrick holds his hand up innocently.

The Brian Kendrick: No, no, it’s all on the up and up, Irish. You and Edge versus me and Tomko tonight. That’s the match - I made it. Because I’m the GM … remember??

Kendrick winks at Finlay, but the Irishman is still sceptical.

Finlay: Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it.

Finlay picks up his boots back up.

The Brian Kendrick: But uh, before you get yourself ready there…

    Kendrick shakes his coffee container.

The Brian Kendrick: Need a refill, my good man.

    Finlay scoffs.

    Finlay: Sure.

The Irishman reaches up, taking the container from Kendrick. He gets up, shaking his head, with Kendrick stopping him.

The Brian Kendrick: You remember how I like it, right??

    Finlay: Yep.

Kendrick pats Finlay on the shoulder.

The Brian Kendrick: Good boy. Now, just make sure you’re quick. I don’t want it getting cold on the way.

Finlay: {Sarcastically} Absolutely. Wouldn’t want it getting cold, would we??

Finlay shakes his head, leaving the locker room, with Kendrick turning away, checking out his hair in the mirror…

The footage cuts away, to a studio, where Cruiserweight Champion JAMIE NOBLE is stood, with the title belt draped over his shoulder, looking directly into the camera…

Jamie Noble: I wanted to take this time to straighten a few things out with you people. Number One, I’m the Cruiserweight Champion now. Not Bryan Danielson. I beat that boy at Judgment Day and yes, I’m the first to do it. He aint unbeatable. I always knew he wasn’t. I always knew, Jamie Noble had what it took to knock him off his hefty little perch.

Noble nods, then holds up two fingers.

Jamie Noble: Number Two, I don’t appreciate what I been hearin ever since. I did what I hadda do at Judgment Day - my stinkin CAREER was at stake!! An’ if any of you people don’t think ya wouldn’t do ANYTHING IT TOOK to save what ya love, then you’re just a no good LIAR!!! I knew Bryan Danielson didn’t have the guts to pull the trigger on me. I knew I could melt his little heartstrings. So I lured him in when I hadda at Judgment Day.

Jamie shakes his head slowly, and talks much lower.

Jamie Noble: An I wouldn’t change a damn thing about it.

The champion then shifts the belt on his shoulder.

Jamie Noble: As for these, uh, these calls for me to give him a rematch??

    Noble spits on the floor.

Jamie Noble: That’s what I think of that. I beat that man THREE times. Sure; he had his hand raised the first two times, but I BEAT him like a DAWG, three times straight. I aint got anything left to prove to that man. Danielson?? It was YOUR choice to grant me a rematch - but I aint gonna give you the same courtesy. I don’t gotta do that. You LOST this title. You only got yourself to blame. You go to the back of the line, boyyy. So instead, I’m gonna be defending this title against the number one contender; Evan Bourne, next week on Smackdown. The way I see it, that’s the fair thing to do, seeing as I got the shot he was bein lined up for at Judgment Day.

Noble then points to the camera.

Jamie Noble: But Evan Bourne?? You DARE even DREAM of beatin Jamie Noble boy, you’d better wake up and apologise. Because this piece of tin aint EVER leavin my side!!!

Noble slaps the centre of the belt, as the picture fades out…

And we see BRYAN DANIELSON backstage, watching the promo from Noble on a monitor, shaking his head in frustration. Danielson turns away, and begins walking - still shaking his head…

Joey Styles: Well, it’s pretty safe to assume that Bryan Danielson wasn’t impressed with what he heard from the Cruiserweight Champion - and I don’t blame him. But Danielson will need to switch his focus; quickly. He’s in action - NEXT - as he begins his quest for the King of the Ring crown!!

    Commercial Break

Back from the commercial, BURCHILL is already in the ring…

    **FLIGHT OF THE VALKYRIES**

Hitting the stage with an air of intensity, BRYAN DANIELSON walks quickly down the ramp, all focus on the ring, still furious with what he heard from Jamie Noble moments ago.

Joey Styles: He looks fired up, King!! Bryan Danielson just heard like we did - next week, Jamie Noble defends his Cruiserweight Championship against Evan Bourne - no rematch for Bryan Danielson!!

Jerry Lawler: Danielson should look at the positives though, Styles. He can put all his energies on this tournament now, and once it’s said and done, then he can come back after Noble.

Joey Styles: And this is the first of three King of the Ring matches tonight, so before we get under way, let’s just remind everyone at home the rules and regulations for this tournament…

Joey Styles: Remember, TWO huge debuts still to come tonight. R-Truth makes his Smackdown debut, whilst Ted DiBiase makes his much publicized WWE debut against Xavier Woods and Mark Henry respectively. But as you can see, up first, it’s Bryan Danielson and Burchill about to get under way. And thankfully for Bryan tonight, he doesn’t have to worry about any hijinx from our GM - Kendrick cant make any alterations to tournament matches. No blindfolds tonight!!

Match 2 | KING OF THE RING TOURNAMENT | OPENING ROUND:
    Burchill vs. Bryan Danielson
Despite his simmering fury, Danielson still wrestles smart against the bigger Brit, with the two locking up, trading holds in the early going. Danielsons technical excellence gives him the upper hand initially, but the power advantage that Burchill holds over the former Cruiserweight Champion allows him to back Danielson up into the corner. The rugged Brit roughs Danielson up, choking him on the ropes, then boots him to the floor, hip tossing him on the outside too. On commentary, Lawler is impressed with the aggression of Burchill, with Styles noting it would give him a much need momentum boost to not only progress in the tournament but to be only the second man to defeat Danielson, after a slow start since being drafted to Smackdown last month.

Back in the ring, Burchill scores a near fall, then whips Danielson into the corner, but eats a boot, allowing Danielson to fly off the top with a front dropkick, getting a two count of his own. Danielson whiffs on a roundhouse attempt, allowing Burchill to put him back down with a PUMPHANDLE SLAM; 1...2...NO!!!!! Burchill cranks on a side headlock, and when Danielson tries to escape, he yanks him back down by the hair, getting him a stern telling off from the referee. Burchill sends Danielson to the corner, but Bryan runs the buckles, and backflips over Burchill, taking off the ropes, and crashes into Burchill with a running clothesline!! Danielson then unloads with a series of dropkicks to Burchill in the corner, before monkey flipping him out, then applies the CATTLE MUTILATION … with Burchill soon tapping!!!
    Winner: Bryan Danielson @ 05:37
    *ADVANCES TO ROUND OF SIXTEEN*

Danielson has his arm raised, getting back to winning ways in a tough encounter against the rough and ready Burchill. Holding the back of his head, Danielson sells the effects of the hard hitting match up, but stands tall in the middle of the ring, before pointing at himself, bigging up his own chances of victory in the prestigious tournament.

Joey Styles: Make no mistake about it - Bryan Danielson is a contender in the 2008 King of the Ring tournament King. He may have lost the Cruiserweight Championship, but Bryan Danielson is NOT letting that hold him back. He’s looking to bounce back and win the King of the Ring tournament.

Jerry Lawler: And don’t think for one minute that he’s been overlooked either, Styles. When you’ve got a guy who’s lost one match in a year, everybody sits up and takes notice - believe me.

Backstage, MELINA is shown at catering, looking over some options, picking up some pieces of salad with tongs, when she is flanked by WADE BARRETT and ELIJAH BURKE; The Fight Factory. Melina turns up her nose at the sight of the #1 Contenders to the titles that her team; MNM, hold.

    Melina:
    Uhh, personal space??

Burke holds his hands up apologetically.

    Elijah Burke:
My bad. I’m sorry, baby girl.

    Wade Barrett:
Elijah there, never minds his manners. But you don’t need to feel threatened around me. I’m a proper English gentleman.

Melina screws her face up, and sarcastically replies.

    Melina:
Of course you are. If you’d excuse me, I’ve got to be … anywhere else.

She looks to turn away, but Burke grabs her by the arm.

    Elijah Burke:
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up there, Melina.

Melina rolls her eyes, but does stop, with Elijah releasing her arm.

    Elijah Burke:
Now, you know … same as my boy Wade and I know … you can see the writing on the wall for your boys.

    Barrett taps his wrist.

    Wade Barrett:
They’re on borrowed time, aren’t they?? As soon as they meet Elijah and I for those tag team titles, they’ll be gone, and those belts are gonna be ours.

    Elijah Burke:
As should you be. C’mon, ditch the dead wood. You deserve to be the manager of champions.

    Melina:
I don’t think so. Thanks for the offer, but I’m gonna pass. I’m already the manager of THE premiere team in ALL the WWE. And that’s not going to change ANY time soon.

Melina turns to walk away again when Burke speaks up once more.

    Elijah Burke:
Is that why you made sure we weren’t the challengers at Judgment Day??

    Melina looks confused.

    Melina: Uh, excuse me??

Wade Barrett: Drop the act, sweetheart. We heard the story. You didn’t want your precious pretty boys mixing it up with us, so you manoeuvred Chavo and Super Crazy into getting that title shot. It was you that talked Finlay into making that match - not Vickie Guerrero.

Elijah Burke: Tell us we’re wrong…

Melina pauses momentarily, looking shaken up, but then scoffs, blowing off the suggestion.

Melina: That’s ridiculous. Like I could have that kind of influence. And even if I could, I have no problem at all with Nitro and Mercury defending our tag team titles against the two of you.

Elijah Burke: No smoke without fire. That whole situation stunk. We should’ve had that title shot at Judgment Day - and you know it. We had your boys beat last month on Smackdown, and that scares you, honey. Guess it doesn’t matter now though, because we’ve got that title shot anyway. But that offer we made you - it still stands; for now at least. Think it over, babe.

Burke winks at Melina, with the valet of MNM looking sickened by the attitude of the Fight Factory…

    Match 3:
Los Latinos w/Vickie Guerrero vs. The Hardy Boys
Matt and Jeff are back in action after both men missed last weeks show due to injuries sustained in the Money in the Bank ladder match at Judgment Day, being given a tough assignment against the rejuvenated Chavo & Super Crazy, who are looking to get right back into the title hunt after a razor thin loss to MNM. Styles and Lawler discuss the spot in the ladder match where Matt pushed the ladder Jeff was on, sending his own brother onto Umaga through a ladder - which took Jeff out of the match - with Joey stating that he spoke with the Hardys today about that very incident, but claimed that Jeff harboured no ill-will toward his brother, telling Styles he knew it was every man for himself, though Styles notes that Matt admitted he felt pretty guilty about it.

The match itself is a decent enough affair, with four decent performers involved. Matt and Jeff hold the upper hand in the early going, but the influence of Vickie Guerrero helps her team gain control. They target Jeff - who is still selling the effects of the MITB ladder match at Judgment Day, but he escapes a GORY BOMB attempt, and leaps to tag Matt, who comes in all guns blazing, hitting anything that moves!!! Matt and Jeff look as good as ever as a team - despite both harbouring singles success - as they appear to be closing in on victory. Matt drills Chavo with a Side Effect, then Super Crazy with a Twist of Fate, tagging Jeff … who climbs up top … SWANTON BOMB!!!!! The cover is set to be made …

WHEN BATISTA AND LASHLEY; THE GODS OF WAR - HIT THE RING!!! And immediately, Batista and Lashley clobber Matt, Jeff and Super Crazy too - they’re putting a beating on ALL FOUR men!!! On the outside, Vickie Guerrero runs away, with Steven Richards occupying the outside of the ring, grinning broadly, as he watches Batista and Lashley put a beating on BOTH Los Latinos and the Hardys with the referee calling for the bell, throwing the match out … and running for cover himself, unable to control the dominant Gods of War!!!
    Winners: No Contest @ 05:02

Batista and Lashley continue the assault, and despite the best efforts of Matt and Jeff to fight back, their efforts are fruitless having already been competing in a fast paced, energy sapping match before the jump attack.

To his credit, Chavo looks to fight back too, jumping off the top at Lashley … BUT GETS BROKEN IN HALF WITH A MID-AIR SPEAR!!!!! Meanwhile, Batista scrapes Super Crazy off the mat, before damn near sending him through it with a vicious SPINEBUSTER!!!!!

Again, Matt and Jeff Hardy try to fight back, throwing shots at both men, but both Batista and Lashley no-sell the offence from the spent Hardy Boys, quickly subduing them, with Lashley delivering a DOMINATOR to Jeff, whilst Batista loads up Matt … DRIVING him into the mat with the BATISTA BOMB!!!

The Gods of War leave BOTH Los Latinos and The Hardy Boys laid out in the middle of the ring, standing tall, to a chorus of boos … but on the outside, Steven Richards gives his men a round of applause, delighted with the handiwork of Lashley and the U.S Champion tonight.

Joey Styles: That was completely uncalled for!!

Jerry Lawler: Are you an idiot, Styles?? Weren’t you sat here last week when Steven Richards sent out the warning to ALL of the Smackdown locker room?? He said the Gods of War were on a path of destruction. He said they would leave the Smackdown roster in it’s wake. This is exactly what he said would happen.

Joey Styles: But what’s the point in all this?? Just because they can?? We know they can!!

Richards leads The Gods of War back up the ramp, telling his men he was impressed with their work tonight, as we see all four men in the ring laid out, slowly stirring from the beat down…

Joey Styles: So there it is, I guess. No one is safe from these animals!! And they’re just going to beat up whoever they want, whenever they want it seems.

Jerry Lawler: Who’s gonna stop ‘em, Styles?? The Undertaker and Kane couldn’t. If they couldn’t … no one can.

Joey Styles: I don’t like this situation at all. The Gods of War have put the entire locker room on notice. And like you said, King … who the hell is gonna stop ‘em?? I know one guy who wouldn’t be putting himself in harms way against those two - and that’s Chris Jericho. Mister Money in the Bank is here tonight … and we’re going to get a celebration??

Jerry Lawler: Absolutely, Styles. Why not?? Chris Jericho has the golden ticket. He can cash that in ANYTIME in the next ten months. It’s a cause for celebration!!! I cant wait. I mean, we need something to cheer us up after what we just saw here.

Joey Styles: Well, I don’t think Chris Jericho throwing himself a party is gonna cheer anyone up. But it would appear we don’t have a choice in the matter. That celebration is coming up soon here on Smackdown…

Backstage, FINLAY arrives back in the office of the {interim} General Manager, with THE BRIAN KENDRICK sat behind the desk, with his feet up, whilst TYSON TOMKO is relaxing on the couch.

The Brian Kendrick: Finally!! You took your time, Finbo!!

Tyson Tomko: Yeah. Where’d you go to get it?? Belfast??

The Brian Kendrick: Oh - hold up - I sure hope this isn’t an Irish Coffee!! Ha!! Get it?? Cause you’re Irish.

    Finlay shows a fake smile.

    Finlay: Very clever.

Kendrick takes a big gulp of the coffee.

The Brian Kendrick: Mmmmm. That’s really good. I gotta say, you can manage to make a mean coffee - but hey, at least you’re managing something around here, right??

Tomko chuckles. Finlay nods, and sarcastically replies.

Finlay: Ahh, I get ya. Because I’m not the General Manager right now.

The Brian Kendrick: Yeah, obviously. That’s the joke.

Kendrick looks to Tomko, pointing his thumb at Finlay and rolling his eyes, before he takes another gulp of coffee.

The Brian Kendrick: Mmmm. That’s great cream too.

Finlay develops an evil smirk on his face after that comment, but neither Kendrick or Tomko appear to pick up on it.

Finlay: Well … I guess I’ll go get ready for our match tonight, then.

The Brian Kendrick: Sure thing. See ya out there.

Tyson Tomko: Oh, hold up there, Finlay.

Finlay stops, and turns to hear what Tomko has to say.

Tyson Tomko: I haven’t ate today.

    Finlay: So??

Tomko sits up from the couch angrily.

Tyson Tomko: So?? So go get me a sandwich, Coleman!!

Kendrick bellows with laughter, pounding the desk as he laughs.

The Brian Kendrick: I get it!! Coleman from Trading Places!! I love it!! Especially with this whole thing where we’ve traded places - ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

Finlay lets out a fake laugh. Then sneers as he leaves.

    Commercial

Backstage, R-TRUTH is shown warming up ahead of his Smackdown debut in the King of the Ring tournament. As he warms up, THE MILLION DOLLAR MAN appears in the picture, which soon catches the attention of Truth, who isn’t pleased to see the legend.

    R-Truth:
    You lost??

DiBiase points at himself, shaking his head.

Million Dollar Man: Me?? No. I’m not lost. I’m right where I need to be. You’re just the person I wanted to see. Some friendly advice for you.

    R-Truth: Well I’m all ears.

Truth sets his gloves down, listening intently to what MDM has to say to him.

Million Dollar Man: Tonight isn’t about you, young man. It’s about my boy, my Teddy. Tonight, the world gets to see the next generation of the DiBiase Family; the third generation - a golden generation - emerge. History begins, here tonight. And I just want to make sure you know your place.

R-Truth: My place?? My place is right here!! I belong here. I EARNED my way to the big dance. I didn’t have my Daddy clear the way for me to get my shot.

DiBiase looks Truth up and down.

Million Dollar Man: No. No … I suspect you didn’t.

Truth glares at DiBiase, not liking the attitude of the legend.

Million Dollar Man: But … I’m not doubting you had to earn your way to the WWE. I just want to be clear that you know that your place … is beneath the real star.

    Truth scoffs.

    R-Truth: Your boy??

Million Dollar Man: Exactly. You’re more intelligent than you look, kid. Good luck tonight.

R-Truth: Sure thing. But, uh, I think it’s your boy that needs the luck. Mark Henry?? That’s a helluva challenge for your first night on the job.

DiBiase doesn’t say anything, but slowly, a smile forms on his face … and then he bellows - that trademark Million Dollar laugh - right in the face of Truth, before walking off. Truth watches on, unimpressed.

Back in the arena, JTG is in the ring for a rare Smackdown appearance.

    **VIRTUAL VOODOO**

    Jerry Lawler:
    Oh boy.

Joey Styles: Can you say; “mismatch??” King?? This doesn’t seem fair to me.

Estrada and UMAGA hit the stage, making their way down the ramp, with AAE pumped up, looking excited ahead of this upcoming mauling.

    Joey Styles:
Last week, Umaga - albeit controversially - PINNED the WWE Champion, Edge. I have no doubt that that improved the mood of Armando Estrada, who publicly dressed his savage down for his failure to win the Money in the Bank ladder match. Now though, the Samoan Bulldozer should be right in contention for a shot at the richest prize in the game somewhere down the road.

Joey Styles: Well, you beat the champion, you should either BE the champion, or yeah, you should be in line for a crack at the gold. And I wouldn’t like ANYONES chances in a one on one match with the Samoan Bulldozer. Especially with the demands of Armando Estrada.

JTG risks life and limb, looking to give himself a minor chance - BY LEAPING OUT OF THE RING AT UMAGA - BUT HE’S CAUGHT … SAMOAN DROP ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!

    Jerry Lawler:
What are you doing you idiot??!!

And with that, there goes ANY chance JTG had at a victory tonight. Umaga peels his victim off the floor, and tosses him into the ring, with AAE pointing inside, telling Umaga to finish him off.

    Match 4:
JTG vs. Umaga w/Armando Alejandro Estrada
It’s quick, but it’s painful. Umaga hit’s the Samoan Wrecking Ball into the corner, slams JTG with the spinning side slam, then delivers a big splash. The Bulldozer picks JTG’s lifeless body up, and easily delivers the SAMOAN SPIKE … before putting the exclamation point on the victory with the BANZAI DROP!!! The count is elementary, 1...2...3!!!!!
    Winner: Umaga @ 01:05

Dominant. The Samoan Bulldozer gets the arm raised, with Estrada joining him in the ring, continuously telling Umaga; “THAT‘S WHAT I WANT!!! THAT‘S WHAT I WANT FROM JU!!!!” Estrada looks delighted, clapping rapidly, before he and Umaga leave the ring; a quick nights work tonight.

Joey Styles: In that kind of form, Umaga looks damn near unstoppable, Jerry.

Jerry Lawler:You’re not wrong, Joey. What a scary proposition for anyone on Smackdown.

Footage switches backstage, and focuses on the BLUE Money in the Bank briefcase … as the camera pans up to show the man carrying the contract; CHRIS JERICHO. Looking smug, Jericho walks through the halls, carrying his future title shot in his hands…

    Joey Styles:
And there, King, you see Smackdowns Mister Money In The Bank. Chris Jericho, twelve days on from capturing the briefcase at Judgment Day. When we come back, Jericho will celebrate that very victory. His first appearance on Smackdown since Judgment Day - it’s next…

    Commercial Break

In the arena, the ring is set up with the old ‘Highlight Reel’ carpet and upwards of 50 baloons tied to the ropes…

    **BREAK THE WALLS DOWN**

As we’ve now come to expect since WrestleMania, there’s No countdown, or dramatic lighting, it’s straight into the theme, and there’s no Jesus pose, as the suited CHRIS JERICHO strides through the curtain with his priceless briefcase. He takes a moment to survey the sea of fans, before proceeding down the ramp.

    Joey Styles:
Jericho said the smartest man would walk out of Judgment Day with the Money in the Bank briefcase - and while that may be up for debate, Chris Jericho certainly was the most devious man in the match. Let’s not forget how he eventually captured the briefcase - by chaining Rob Van Dams foot to the ladder, preventing RVD from climbing up the ladder to stop him.

Jerry Lawler: Sounds pretty smart to me, Styles.

Joey Styles: And now, as we all know, he has a ten month window to cash that briefcase in. Momentarily at Judgment Day we thought he might just do that on the night - but it wasn’t to be.

Jerry Lawler: I don’t think Jericho wants to wait too long, Styles. I don’t see him needing ten months to pick his moment.

Jericho climbs into the ring, and standing in the middle of the ring, he holds up his briefcase for all to see. The music dies down, with Jericho picking up a mic, looking around at the scene in the ring, before speaking.

Chris Jericho: As you can see, this ring is set up for a celebration. Balloons, streamers, this carpet, the pomp and circumstance … I guess it makes all of you feel like part of my victory at Judgment Day.

Jericho stops dead, looking up at the fans.

    Chris Jericho: But you weren’t.

    Heat.

Chris Jericho: I arranged this celebration as an ironic display of how I may have viewed a success like this before. Sharing my glory with all of you, desperate for your approval. Like your cheers were currency - as if the adulation of the undignified lower classes had some kind of value. As if your support would’ve been influential in my accomplishments.

    Jericho shakes his head.

Chris Jericho: But none of you played a part in me claiming this briefcase. None of you fell off a ladder at Judgment Day for me. Not one of you put your health and safety at stake for my benefit. Only me. Only I put my body on the line for glory. Not one of you can say you’ve done the same … because if you had … if any of you had taken a chance in life, and experienced some kind of success in your miserable lives … you wouldn’t have had to pay a ticket to come here and live vicariously through me - revelling in my glory.

Heat. Jericho raises the briefcase momentarily.

Chris Jericho: I did this. All by myself. And only I can revel in my success.

More boos. Jericho doesn’t rise to the heat, and remains stoic.

    Chris Jericho:
Two months ago, I made a decision. One that has resulted in the betterment and the resurrection of my career. I made a decision to abandon all my morals and my beliefs about how a professional wrestler should conduct themselves in and out of this ring.

Momentarily, Jericho affords himself a smirk.

Chris Jericho: I realise now, I was wrong before. I was no better than any of you. I was a sycophant, desperate for your approval. Craving your idolisation. I was wrong to try and do the “right thing” by playing by the rules. You people didn’t appreciate that … you people didn’t recognize the value of what I was trying to do. You weren’t grateful that I was trying to save the WWE from itself and what it was becoming … all you idiots wanted was to hear some catchphrases that were played out five years ago. You didn’t care that I was taking a stand to prevent the WWE from becoming a lawless wasteland.

    He shakes his head slowly.

    Chris Jericho:
My efforts went completely unappreciated. I was fed up of trying to reach out to people and have them change their own perspectives. I couldn’t influence other peoples mindsets. I couldn’t fight the rising tide. And my career was flat-lining. I couldn’t let that happen. So, instead of trying to be that positive influence, instead of craving the cheers and admiration of you irrelevant beings … I chose to get in the mud with the rest of the pigs.

Jericho pauses for a moment… as another smile forms on his face.

Chris Jericho: And it was the best decision of my career. I am already reaping the benefits of serving my own best interests.

    Scattering of boos.

Chris Jericho: I’m free now. Free of any responsibilities to be a role model, free of being a mentor to any young superstar, free of respecting my peers. Free of the pressure of pleasing you mindless imbeciles.

Jericho has to speak up now over the heat from the fans.

Chris Jericho: Because this is how a WWE Superstar is supposed to carry themselves today. And I’ve quickly realised I’m the best in the world at it. And very soon, I’ll be able to call myself WWE Champion.

    Heat.

Chris Jericho: I said that the smartest man would walk out of Judgment Day carrying this briefcase. And I was proven right. While Matt and Jeff Hardy risked life and limb, jumping off ladders like a pair of performing seals for you people … I used my brain. While Triple H-

Jericho mockingly limps around the ring - getting heat for the impression.

Chris Jericho: … Hobbled around the ring in order to save face as a tough-guy in your tiny minds … I used my brain. And while Rob Van Dam was too busy on the hunt for retribution … I … used … my … brain.

Pointing to his temple, Jericho continues to rile the fans with his matter of fact manner.

Chris Jericho: And now, it’s a matter of when … not if … I become WWE Champion again. It could be tonight. It could be next week. It could be next month, Christmas, the New Year or Wrestle Mania … I’m the master of my fate. I decide when I cash this briefcase in. And when it happens, you can guarantee there wont be any misstep, no mistake. I wont falter. I wont fail … because I will use my brain.

More heat for the constant use of the same phrase by Jericho.

Chris Jericho: And that, ladies and gentlemen-

    RVD ATTACKS JERICHO!!!!!!!

Rob Van Dam has slid into the ring, TACKLING Jericho down, and POUNDS Jericho on the mat!!!!! The fans come alive, cheering on RVD, chanting his name, as the Whole Damn Show rises up to his feet, quickly sprinting off the ropes - ROLLING THUNDER TO JERICHO!!!!!

Van Dam then picks up the Money in the Bank briefcase, taking a long look at it, before looking at Jericho, and SLAMS the briefcase on the torso of it’s owner, driving it repeatedly into Jericho!!! RVD picks Jericho up, shoving him into the corner, opening up with rights and lefts, then unleashes kicks in the corner too, forcing Jericho onto the canvas …

Jericho tries to escape, but RVD pulls him back in, stomping the back, before tossing him back into the corner. Van Dam picks up the briefcase, and tosses it at Jericho, with Jericho catching it … but before RVD can deliver a Van Daminator - Jericho TOSSES IT right back at RVD, momentarily stunning Van Dam…

AS JERICHO HOPS OUT OF THE RING AND STRAIGHT UP THE RAMP!!!!!

Boos are heard around the arena, with Jericho hightailing it from the fired up, aggressive Rob Van Dam. In the ring, RVD shakes his head, shaking off the shot from the briefcase, before picking up both the briefcase and the microphone…

Rob Van Dam: Hey Jericho - I think you forgot something!!

RVD holds up the briefcase, and Jericho looks horrified, shouting to the ring; “PUT THAT DOWN - THAT‘S NOT YOURS!!”

Rob Van Dam: Not that it matters - because as long as I’m around, that briefcase isn’t worth a dime!!

And Van Dam violently TOSSES the briefcase to the outside!!!

Rob Van Dam: Anywhere you go, I’ll be right behind you. Anytime you even THINK you’re gonna cash in your title shot - I’M gonna be there!!!

Pop from the fans. Meanwhile, Jericho retrieves his briefcase, shouting back at Van Dam in the ring; “YOU STUPID SON OF A BITCH!!!”

Rob Van Dam: So you shouldn’t need to “use your brain” to work it out, because I’ve made it REAL damn clear - but just in case you need me to spell it out?? You’re NEVER gonna get your hands on the WWE Title for as long as I’m around!!

Jericho looks horrified, but the fans cheer, as RVD tosses the mic away now, and proceeds to taunt with his thumbs, as the audience chant “R-V-D” along with the thumbs. Jericho is livid on the ramp, shouting obscenities cutting a frustrated figure, with his big celebration ending in farce.

    Commercial Break

Following the commercial, Styles and Lawler talk over the clips, replaying the previous segment, where RVD promised he wouldn’t allow Jericho to ever cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase…

Back in the ring - which has been cleared of the carpet and balloons - XAVIER WOODS is standing, waiting for his opponent in his first King of the Ring match up…

    **WHAT‘S UP!?**

Making his Smackdown debut after a successful outing at Judgment Day, R-TRUTH raps his way to the ring, with Styles and Lawler laying out, not talking over the performance from R-Truth, who interacts with fans as he makes his way to the ring.

Match 5 | KING OF THE RING TOURNAMENT | OPENING ROUND:
    Xavier Woods vs. R-Truth
Not much to write home about, an average match, devoid of any real drama or excitement, with the match serving as more of a vehicle for R-Truth, getting his spots in as he continues to be introduced to the audience following his debut. It’s not a squash though, and Woods puts up a decent fight, troubling Truth in the middle section of the match, hitting the HONOR ROLL, and following that up with a Gutbuster for a near fall of his own.

However, Woods is ultimately just not good enough to put the new star away, with Truth soon making a spirited comeback, getting the better of Xavier in a fist fight, then scoring a near fall off the TRUTH CONVICTION. Woods shows his own fighting spirit to kick out of that before Truth sets up the finish with the LIE DETECTOR … softening Woods up, in order to deliver his SCISSORS KICK!!! Truth hooks the leg, nodding with the referees count … 1...2...3!!!
    Winner: R-Truth @ 03:33
    *ADVANCES TO ROUND OF SIXTEEN*

It’s a successful TV debut for R-Truth, coming through a decent challenge to progress to the next stage of the King of the Ring tournament. Getting his hand raised, Truth climbs the ropes, looking to pump up the fans, who offer some mild cheers in response.

Joey Styles: An impressive debut for R-Truth on Smackdown, King, wouldn’t you say??

Jerry Lawler: Absolutely. And more importantly, it means R-Truth advances to the next round of the tournament.

Joey Styles: And he will be watching eagerly a little later, when Ted DiBiase Junior makes his much anticipated debut on Smackdown against the Worlds Strongest Man Mark Henry - R-Truth will meet the winner in the Round of Sixteen in a couple of weeks.

Jerry Lawler: I still cant imagine how young Ted is gonna deal with the might of Mark Henry in his first match in the WWE.

Joey Styles: DiBiase is certainly being thrown to the wolves right off the bat - but his father appears to be supremely confident in his son. But surely, even if he is as good as the Million Dollar Man says … surely, this is just too great a challenge for a debut??

Jerry Lawler: I guess we’ll find out soon, Styles.

Joey Styles: We certainly will. That’s still to come of course, but before all of that, earlier today, I had the opportunity to sit down with another pair of new faces here on Smackdown. Los Colons as they have requested to be called; Primo and Epico, made a major impact at Judgment Day, shockingly targeting their own flesh and blood; Carlito. I spoke with both Epico and Primo to find out, quite simply … why…

Smackdown cuts to the pre-taped interview, as Joey Styles sits in the studio, across from EPICO and PRIMO, the team wishing to be referred to as LOS COLONS.

Joey Styles: Los Colons, thank you for this time.

    Epico: Pleasure is ours, Joey.

Joey Styles: Okay, I’m going to cut right to the chase, and ask you the question on the minds of all the fans watching. Why?? Why would you target your own family member like you have since debuting on Smackdown?? What has Carlito done to deserve this treatment from his brother and his cousin??

Los Colons looks to one another, with Epico speaking up first.

Epico: It’s funny you call Carlito family. We don’t. We’ve disowned Carlito. He’s no family member of ours.

Primo nods in agreement, then sits forward.

Primo: What kind of family member doesn’t seek the highest form of retribution when his brother has been seriously injured?? Hmm?? Any true brother wouldn’t rest until he gained revenge - REAL revenge; as in an eye for an eye - on the man who hurt his flesh and blood.

Primo sits back, gripping the arms of the chair.

Primo: Carlito didn’t do that for me. When he was in the middle of a war with M.V.P last year, I stepped up to the plate for him, thinking he’d do the same for me. Like any brother worth his salt would do. But when M.V.P destroyed my knee with a camera … Carlito didn’t avenge me. He didn’t crush M.V.P’s knee in retaliation. Carlito looked out for his own gains. He took on MVP in a King of the Ring match last year … and when he could’ve done the right thing and put that son of a bitch on the shelf in the same way MVP put me out …

    Primo scoffs at the thought.

Primo: He did what he always does - he looked out for Carlitos best interests.

Styles looks troubled by the narrative, and has to interject.

Joey Styles: Uh, I’m sorry … but I have to interrupt there. Primo, if I recall, it was you who told Carlito that night when he faced M.V.P in last years King of the Ring tournament that he shouldn’t look for retribution, and the best form of revenge would’ve been to beat MVP, one on one - which he did.

Primo appears to be offended by Styles tone.

Primo: I know that. I was there. I remember what I said. That’s what a brother does. I told Carlito to look out for himself, because I was being selfless. I was looking out for his best interests. I didn’t really expect he’d do what I told him. I still EXPECTED him to avenge what happened to me.

Joey Styles: That’s … really hypocritical if I’m being honest.

    Epico speaks up.

Epico: Who are you to sit there and judge him, Joey Styles?? Primo was all set to join the main roster a year ago, and he lost a year of his career because he sacrificed himself for Carlito. He has every right to be angry. As do I!!

Joey Styles: Well, that’s an interesting statement. Even if we can stretch ourselves to accept Primo’s reason for targeting his brother … why do you hold a grudge against your cousin, Carlito??

Epico: Just like Primo, last year, I was ready for my big break. I just needed a little help. A word of encouragement to get me ahead. I couldn’t get the attention of the General Managers of Raw or Smackdown enough for them to take a chance on me. And then, I saw a great opportunity to impress. Last July, Carlito was in need of a partner. Remember?? He’d picked a fight with the Master Craftsmen, and he needed a tag team partner to help him out.

    Epico puts his hand up.

    Epico:
I was right here, waiting. I waited. I mean, who do you turn to in your hour of need??

He taps his vein on his arm, showing it to Styles.

Epico: You look to your blood. I knew Carlito couldn’t turn to Primo because he was injured … so I assumed I’d get the call. No brainer, right?? So I waited. And I waited … and the call?? Never came. So, like any family member would - I reached out, knowing Carlito needed help. And I offered to be his tag team partner. But guess what??

Styles is prompted for an answer by Epico, with Joey offering his response.

Joey Styles: He … had already found a partner. Kofi Kingston.

Epico: Yeah. Kofi Kingston?? WHO THE HELL … is Kofi Kingston?? WHERE … did Carlito find him?? He’s not family. He was just … a guy. Carlito didn’t even consider asking me to be his partner. Said I wasn’t ready for it.

Epico sarcastically laughs, and Primo shakes his head.

Epico: Not ready?? Is that good enough?? I was raised to help my family at all times. I needed Carlitos help to get my foot in the door. To get spotted. Noticed. To get a job. He didn’t care. He didn’t want to take a risk on bringing in his own cousin - instead - he chose a guy he’d barely even met … just because he had a few extra years experience.

Styles tries to be reasonable as he responds to the answer.

Joey Styles: I mean, obviously it’s upsetting. It’s a setback. But, it seems to me that perhaps Carlito was looking out for your best interests. If he didn’t feel you were ready for the step up in competition, he didn’t want you to fail and maybe never get another shot in the WWE.

    Primo: Don’t give me that.

Epico: Yeah … what the hell is this?? Are you Carlitos spokesperson, Joey?? You don’t know him like we do. He’s selfish. He wouldn’t consider either of our best interests over his.

Epico points to himself and Primo, with Primo nodding, sitting forward again.

Primo: And now?? It’s coming back around to bite him. Because the two of us, real family, we’re looking out for one another. We’re here now - together - Los Colons. And our first order of business … is to run Carlito right out of the WWE. So whenever they’re ready … Carlito and his ‘friend’ … we’d love to teach them both that there’s no stronger bond … than family.

    Epico smirks.

Epico: That sounds pretty cool to me.

Los Colons then bump knuckles, nodding - their message is now clear, with Styles looking disappointed, as we fade out from the interview…

    TRIPLE H - 1997

At this point, still playing the Greenwich snob, Hunter Hearst Helmsley finally begins to gain traction in the upper reaches of the WWE in 1997, defeating Ahmed Johnson in the semi-final, before coming back later in the night to defeat Mankind in one of the more memorable King of the Ring finals - a match that would spark a summer long feud between the two, and a victory that would help springboard Triple H up the card, and help morph him into the Degenerate of the Attitude Era, and later The Game.

Smackdown returns with JOSH MATHEWS standing by…

Josh Mathews: Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, my guest at this time; Kurt Angle!!

The camera pans to show KURT ANGLE, who gets a pop from the fans.

Josh Mathews: Kurt, last week, it was revealed, in a stunning turn of events that you would replace The Brian Kendrick in the 2008 King of the Ring tournament. It’s been eight years since you were crowned King, and you begin your quest to become a two-time King of the Ring winner next week against Johnny Nitro. Your thoughts??

Kurt Angle: It’s no secret that I think the whole situation with the WWE Title STINKS!! As far as I’m concerned, I’m still the Number One Contender; I shouldn’t have lost at Judgment Day. But I can understand that there’s a whole list of guys who are lining up for a shot at the title. And for me to get back to the top of that list - after Kendrick gets his shot - I need to prove AGAIN that I’m the best there is. And there’s no better way to prove your credentials than winning a 32 man tournament.

    Mathews nods.

Josh Mathews: And, as mentioned a moment ago - you obviously have history in the King of the Ring tournament. You famously won the tournament in your rookie year in the WWE, and were beaten in the finals the following year. Do you see this now as a chance perhaps to rectify that loss in 2001??

    Angle shakes his head.

Kurt Angle: I’m not concerned with repeating history. Or rectifying a loss from the past. This is about one thing for me, Josh - getting back in the hunt for the WWE Title. No disrespect to any of the other guys in the tournament … but they’re not on my level. That’s a fact. I’m the only man in the tournament that’s even BEEN WWE Champion before. Most of the guys are talented - there’s no doubt about that. Some of them may even go on to be WWE Champion in the future. But not yet. Not before I’m back on top of the ladder.

Josh Mathews: Kurt, there’s a lot of hungry, young superstars involved in the King of the Ring tournament. Your opponent next week for one; Johnny Nitro - one half of the tag team champions. Are you at all concerned that given who you are and the reputation you carry … that the up and coming superstars in the tournament will look at you as a potential scalp. I mean, a victory over Kurt Angle could be huge for the majority of the guys in the field.

Angle shows a slight sign of a smirk.

Kurt Angle: I know I’m the target, Josh. So I should be - I’m Kurt FREAKIN Angle. Everyone ought to be gunning for me. But I’m not concerned. I welcome that challenge, I hope each and every guy that stands in my way raises their game. Because it’ll make my victory even sweeter.

Josh Mathews: That being said … it’s now seven years since you competed in a King of the Ring tournament. Eight since you won the tournament. Do you have any fears that if you make it to the finals night in London that you’ll be able to compete up to three times in one night, against these younger competitors??

    Angle looks offended.

Kurt Angle: Is that a serious question?? Three matches in one night?? I could do that as a warm up, Josh. The only other guy in the tournament that’s ever competed three times in one night is Brent Albright. And guess what?? I BEAT him just about a month ago. They call me the Wrestling Machine for a reason. The thirty-one other guys standing in my way are all about to find out why, if they don’t already know.

Kurt pauses for a moment, staring at Josh before continuing on.

Kurt Angle: It starts with Johnny Nitro next week. Then it’s Sandow or MVP after that. And once I get to London for finals night, it doesn’t matter who stands in my way. They’re all gonna tap out. I’ll be King of the Ring; again. I’ve made an entire career out of winning tournaments. And this is just another. And once I win this King of the Ring in London, I’ll be coming back for that WWE Title … it’s true. It’s damn true.

Angle smirks, as the camera fades out.

Backstage, CHRIS JERICHO is power-walking through the backstage area, carrying his Money in the Bank briefcase, and speeds up, as THE BRIAN KENDRICK exits from his office…

    Chris Jericho: KENDRICK!! KENDRICK!!!

The Interim GM turns around, with Jericho catching up to him, and Kendrick smirks.

The Brian Kendrick: Yo!! I haven’t heard anyone scream my name like that since … well, last night. Y’know??

    Jericho blows off the joke.

Chris Jericho: I don’t care about that. You’re supposed to be in charge here, right??

    Kendrick scoffs.

    The Brian Kendrick: Yeah. Obviously.

Chris Jericho: Well I want you to do something about Rob Van Dam.

The Brian Kendrick: Like what?? You want a match with him or something??

Jericho momentarily stares at Kendrick as if to say; “Are you serious?”

Chris Jericho: No. No, that’s not what I want at all. Quite the opposite, in fact. I want a restraining order, I want him to leave me alone. I want him … GONE.

The Brian Kendrick: Gone?? Like, from the building?? I can do-

Chris Jericho: Are you for real?? I don’t just want him gone from the building. I want him gone from the entire company. Do you understand?? This is an unfair, unsafe working environment. After everything I went through at Judgment Day to win THIS-

Jericho holds up the briefcase, slapping it with his hand … with Kendrick suddenly drawn to the case, not taking his eyes off it, as Jericho continues on.

Chris Jericho: I shouldn’t have to deal with a jealous failure trying to ruin MY happiness. It’s not right for me to have to look over my shoulder every single time I think I might want to cash in my title shot. He needs to be gone, otherwise this briefcase is worthless to me. Am I right??

Kendrick slowly nods - and still staring at the briefcase - before replying to Jericho.

The Brian Kendrick: Yeah … one of you has to go.

TBK finally snaps out of his stare, and suspiciously looks at Jericho.

The Brian Kendrick: Look … leave it in my capable hands, Chris. I’ll work something out. Okay??

    Chris Jericho: You better.

Jericho seems content to leave it there, expecting Kendrick to live up to his word. The General Manager then walks off, muttering to himself - words we don’t catch on camera - but he then spots TRIPLE H further on the hall.

The Game is seen talking with what we can assume is a member of the medical staff, with Triple H gesturing to his knee, possibly explaining the issues he’s been having recently. Kendrick approaches, and pats Triple H on the shoulder.

The Brian Kendrick: Nice job tonight, buddy. You’re gonna go places here on Smackdown.

Triple H raises his eyebrows, and nods.

Triple H: Is that right?? Gee, thanks for the encouragement. That was real good of you to give me a match tonight, especially after you were told I shouldn’t be wrestling.

    Kendrick shrugs.

The Brian Kendrick: But, you toughed it out. That’s the main thing. And you won!!

    The Game smirks.

Triple H: You’re right, I did. So maybe I should be in line for a shot at the WWE title- oh, hold on; I forgot … you’re in line for a shot at the title. Fancy that…

Kendrick looks uncomfortable with the tone from Triple H, taking a step back from The Game, who continues.

Triple H: That doesn’t sit right with me. As a matter of fact, I think it’s a joke. You, challenging for the WWE Championship?? And you expect a guy like me to just stand back and watch that happen without a word?? This might all be a power-trip for you right now, but that’s all it is. You’re not runnin the show for long. And soon … you’re gonna come crashing back down to earth with one hell of a thud. And there’s gonna be a lot of people gunning for ya, whether you wind up WWE Champion or not. So how about you think twice before you come to patronize me again.

Kendrick looks intimidated by the attitude of The Game, and starts backtracking, with his bravado disappearing.

The Brian Kendrick: Sorry, I, uh, think there’s been a misunderstanding … I just wanted to uh, tell you, uh, look … you feel free to take the next few weeks off, I don’t think we’ll need ya, and maybe you can rest that knee up, huh??

The Game laughs at the suggestion.

Triple H: I don’t need time off, kid. I’m rested up enough. And just in case you weren’t aware?? I do whatever the hell I what. I don’t need some jumped up lucky punk like you givin me instructions. If I wanted the next two weeks off - I’d take ‘em.

TBK finally tries to stand up for himself.

The Brian Kendrick: Whoa. I’m the General Manager here, and-

Triple H: Yeah, for four weeks.

The Brian Kendrick: And a lot can happen in four weeks, buster.

Triple H chuckles at the suggestion.

Triple H: Not enough. I’m gonna give you a word of warning before you pick your next move, okay?? You might be the GM - for now - but you need to be careful who you choose as an enemy. Because the power I can wield?? It comes from much higher up - way beyond your pay grade, pal.

    Kendrick gulps, knowing the connotation.

The Brian Kendrick: Listen, I didn’t mean to cause any offence. We don’t need to be enemies here-

Triple H: Oh, it‘s too late for that. You wanna insert yourself into the WWE Championship picture?? You’d better be ready to accept the consequences that come with it. And anybody who stands ahead of me in that line … instantly becomes an enemy.

The Game stares down Kendrick momentarily, before walking off, giving Kendrick plenty to think about.

    Back into the arena…

    **SOMEBODIES GONNA GET IT**

The Worlds Strongest Man, MARK HENRY, makes his way down the ramp … tonight, minus Theodore Long, due to the rules of the King of the Ring tournament preventing managers being at ringside.

Joey Styles: Well, Jerry, we’re about to find out if Ted DiBiase Junior can back up the hype - and what a challenge to kick off with!!

Jerry Lawler: You’re not kidding, Styles. Imagine your FIRST match in the WWE being against this monster!!

Joey Styles: A Colossal challenge await’s the son of the Million Dollar Man on the other side of this break. We’ll be right back!!

    Commercial Break

    **PRICELESS**

Initially joined by his father, Ted Senior, TED DIBIASE strolls confidently onto the stage. Hands on hips, Junior looks around the arena, before his dad gives him a hug, wishing him luck, before departing the stage - not even The Million Dollar Man can buy his way around the rules of the KOTR tournament.

    Joey Styles:
He certainly looks the part. There’s no doubt there. He has the bloodline in being a third-generation superstar … but is Ted DiBiase Junior ready for such a huge jump in competition, so soon into his training.

Jerry Lawler: He doesn’t look fazed, Styles. He’s either really confident … or he’s really stupid.

DiBiase races up the steps, then stops at the ropes, taking his time, looking into the ring at the waiting Mark Henry, before tentatively climbing inside the ring.

Joey Styles: And now, it may just get real for DiBiase. He cant play wrestler here. This is for real.

Jerry Lawler: It’s a good thing he’s wearing dark pants, Styles.

Match 6 | KING OF THE RING TOURNAMENT | OPENING ROUND:
Mark Henry vs. Ted DiBiase Jr.
DiBiase tentatively circles the ring, but Henry doesn’t move an inch. Ted rubs his face, trying to work out what to do, and how to approach The Worlds Strongest Man, with Henry burning a hole through DiBiase with an ice-cold stare. Henry takes a few steps forward as Ted approaches, with DiBiase instantly moving back - afraid to fall into range of Henry. However, Henry merely points at DiBiase, shouting to him; “YOUR PUNK ASS IS LUCKY!!!” … before The Worlds Strongest Man climbs through the ropes?? Henry stands on the apron for a moment, repeating the same line to DiBiase … before getting off the apron … AND WALKS UP THE RAMP!!!! In the ring, both Ted and the official look perplexed … but the count is made, with Henry never looking back … GETTING HIMSELF COUNTED OUT!!!!!
Winner: Via Count Out - Ted DiBiase @ 01:01
    *ADVANCES TO ROUND OF SIXTEEN*

Joey Styles: Is that it?? Is this gonna be allowed to stand?? Mark Henry - he just - WALKED OUT!?

In the ring, Ted DiBiase Junior does look genuinely surprised by what has transpired, looking around as his hand is raised by the referee, whilst the fans shit all over the shitty debut for the son of the Million Dollar Man. Ted Junior continues to look around in surprise as he leaves the ring, with a permanent confused look on his face as he leaves up the ramp.

Jerry Lawler: Maybe Mark Henry bought into the hype??

Joey Styles: Bought in?? More like paid off if you ask me. Ted DiBiase Junior has progressed to the second round of the King of the Ring tournament … and he didn’t even need to break a sweat!! No wonder his old man was so confident!!! This is a joke!!!

    Bryan Danielson vs. Burchill
    Evan Bourne vs. Tyson Tomko

    Carlito vs. Kofi Kingston
    Joey Mercury vs. Jamie Noble

    Johnny Nitro vs. Kurt Angle
    Damien Sandow vs. M.V.P

Ted DiBiase Jr. vs. Mark Henry
    R-Truth vs. Xavier Woods

Joey Styles: And as you can see, there’s just two opening round matches remaining on the Smackdown half of the draw. Those two matches will be contested next week as Johnny Nitro has the biggest singles match of his career, when he gets to test himself against the seven time WWE Champion, Kurt Angle!! And, Damien Sandow takes on MVP!!

Jerry Lawler: Two huge matches to close out the opening round of matches, Joey. And all four could be real contenders if you ask me - especially Kurt Angle, I mean, that goes without saying.

Joey Styles: There’s no doubt Angle is the odds-on favourite in this years tournament. He’s going to have a HUGE target on his chest. EVERYONE wants to be the one the knock-off the Wrestling Machine!! And Johnny Nitro has the first crack at Angle - next week.

Backstage, THEODORE LONG and THE MILLION DOLLAR MAN are shown, watching what has just happened on a monitor. BOTH men look pleased, with DiBiase patting the shoulder of Long, before reaching into his inside pocket, and brings out a cheque and a pen.

    Theodore Long:
Just keep writing them Zero’s, playa!!

Million Dollar Man: Teddy, with pleasure!!!

DiBiase lets out his trademark laugh, with Long also looking happy. DiBiase hands over the cheque, with Long shaking it rapidly.

    Theodore Long:
I know my man aint happy about this - but I think this might just cheer him up a little. Ya feel me??

Long and DiBiase shake hands, with Ted obviously paying off Long and Henry to throw tonight’s match. They continue to shake - with DiBiase laughing again, as the camera fades out…

Elsewhere, KRISTAL MARSHALL is standing by with the WWE Champion; EDGE…

    Kristal Marshall:
Edge, in just a few moments, you’ll team with Finlay in a tag team match against the Interim General Manager The Brian Kendrick and Tyson Tomko. Obviously, you’ll face Kendrick in two weeks on Smackdown with your WWE Title on the line, and after how events played out last week, are you expecting any surprises from Kendrick tonight??

Edge smiles at Kristal, as if to say “do I really need to answer this?” and sticks his tongue in his cheek, before running his fingers through his hair and letting out a sigh.

Edge: Yes. Tonight, I absolutely expect Brian Kendrick to pull some kind of swerve, Kristal. And in other obvious news, water’s wet, and grass is green.

The WWE Champion shoots Kristal a look, with the interviewer slightly embarrassed with her own obvious question.

Edge: I don’t know what exactly Kendricks pea-sized brain is gonna come up with, but I’m planning on attaching eyes to the back of my head. Teaming me up with Finlay, I’m pretty much certain Kendrick is gonna order the guy to stand on the apron the entire time, or tell him to attack me. I haven’t even had a chance to talk to Finlay tonight - he’s been goofing around running errands for that idiot.

He shakes his head, then settles down again.

Edge: Finlay, as far as I’m concerned, isn’t there. There’s no way Kendrick is gonna let Finlay even put a finger on him if he can help it. I’d be better off just facing Kendrick and Tomko on my own. That’s what’ll happen anyway. Hell, it wouldn’t be a surprise if-if Kendrick marched out Mark Henry and Umaga again like he did last week to soften me up for him. Because let’s face it Kristal, Kendrick knows he cant do the job himself.

Kristal Marshall: With that said, are you at all concerned that you’ll be walking into certain defeat in two weeks when Kendrick challenges you for the WWE Championship??

Edge momentarily lets out a chuckle.

Edge: Look, I know I’m behind the eight ball here already. I’m still banged up from what happened last week. I’ve no doubt I’ll collect a few more bumps and bruises tonight with whatever shenanigans Kendrick has up his sleeve. And you can bet your ass he’ll have a plan for softening me up some more next week too. And yeah … he’s gonna pull out all the stops when he challenges me for this bad-boy.

    Edge slaps the title belt.

Edge: But I’m not goin down without a fight. And I’m damn sure not gonna allow myself to be the guy that has to tell the world he lost the WWE Title to Brian Kendrick. Kendrick can do all he wants, Kristal. He can call himself THE Brian Kendrick … he can call himself THE General Manager … but he will never get to call himself THE WWE Champion … not on my watch.

The Rated R Superstar has a wild look in his eye, staring at Kristal, before storming off the set…

    Back into the arena…

TYSON TOMKO is standing on the stage - sans music - with a mic in hand, waiting for the boos from the fans to die down.

    Tyson Tomko: Settle down!!

Boos from the fans - not appreciating being told to be quiet.

Tyson Tomko: I want everyone to look up at the big screen.

Tomko turns around, and shouts out to no one in particular.

Tyson Tomko: Get the words up.

The Problem Solver turns back around, and points up at the screen…

Tyson Tomko: At the request of YOUR General Manager, he would like you all to sing him “Happy Birthday” on his way to the ring.

    More boos.

    Tyson Tomko: Music, maestro!!

The tune of “Happy Birthday” plays into the arena, with only a few fans playing along with the farce … as THE BRIAN KENDRICK enters the arena, doing his very best Godfather impression as he is joined by four models; two on each arm, making his way down the ramp.

    Joey Styles: This is farcical.

Jerry Lawler: Shut up, Styles!! Get in with the celebration- HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!

Joey Styles: It was his birthday yesterday!!!

    Jerry Lawler: Shhhh!!!

Kendrick continues to ringside, conducting the fans, feigning gratitude, even though the majority ARE NOT singing the tune to him. The Interim General Manager makes his way into the ring, looking cocky and relaxed, giving each model that joined him on the way out a kiss on the cheek as they depart to the back…

Joey Styles: Could you imagine if THIS idiot was to become WWE Champion in two weeks?? It would be the darkest hour of this companies history. But folks, it MAY happen - there’s a chance we are looking at the next WWE Champion; as bizarre as it may sound … and we’ll see Kendrick in action AGAINST the WWE Champion - NEXT.

    Commercial Break

Smackdown returns with FINLAY on his way to the ring, pulling up his singlet, and then fixing up his knee pads, showing he barely had enough time to get dressed for this match - never mind have an actual warm up.

The Irishman - and currently exiled General Manager - makes his way up the steps, still looking suspicious about even being part of this match, expecting a twist in the tail from Kendrick…

    **METALINGUS**

In his usual trenchcoat, EDGE hit’s the stage, emerging through the smoke, with the WWE Championship around his waist. Shaking his hands loose, Edge proceeds down the ramp, unbuckling his belt on the way, ditching the coat - and sporting a heavily taped right arm…

EDGE COMES HITTING THE RING QUICKLY!!!

… But Kendrick and Tomko both hurriedly exit the ring, avoiding a hot start from Edge. The WWE Champion is now joined by Finlay in the ring, with the pair sharing a few words - both not sure what to expect from Kendrick … as the Interim GM takes a mic.

The Brian Kendrick: What - no cake?? Edge; I’m a little disappointed, I must say.

Kendrick then points at Finlay with a look of anger.

The Brian Kendrick: And you!! I expected better from you, Finbo. No cake for your boss???

    Finlay rolls his eyes.

The Brian Kendrick: In fact, I want you to go RIGHT NOW … and warm up my car!!

Heat. Finlay doesn’t look surprised, and nor does Edge - they saw this swerve coming.

The Brian Kendrick: I don’t want to have to spend a second longer than I need to here - and I want some BIRTHDAY CAKE, DAMMIT!!!!

Boos. Finlay stands in the ring, hands on hips, pissed off at the situation.

Tyson Tomko: You heard the man, Coleman, go warm the car up.

Tomko points for Finlay to leave, with the Irishman looking around, before finally deciding to leave the ring, apologising to Edge as he does.

The Brian Kendrick: Make it quick too - I don’t expect this match to last very long.

“Neither do I” is the mouthed reply from Edge in the ring.

Finlay trudges up the ramp, with Tomko and Kendrick taking one side of the ring each to catch Edge off guard… and Edge looks to strike first, swinging at Kendrick - who leaps off the apron … and then catches Tomko coming in, knocking the Problem Solver down with a right hand.

    Main Event | HANDICAP MATCH:
The Brian Kendrick & Tyson Tomko vs. Edge
Edge goes on the attack, taking it to Tomko, as Kendrick watches from the outside - too scared to throw himself in harms way. Edge remains in charge, but is constantly looking over his shoulder, keeping an eye out for TBK, who keeps hopping on and off the apron. Eventually, as Edge swings at Kendrick - and misses - it gives Tomko an opportunity, with the Problem Solver crashing through the WWE Champion with a big clothesline. Suddenly, Kendrick is desperate for a tag in, and the Interim GM gets his licks in on Edge whilst the champion is down, but is unable to put Edge down.

Tomko and Kendrick tag in and out, targeting the taped up arm of the WWE Champion, ripping the tape off, and Kendrick even chokes Edge with the tape - telling the referee “I‘m the Boss!!! I‘ll make the rules!!!” Kendrick then looks for Sliced Bread - but is TOSSED across the ring!!! Edge fights back, with TBK quickly making a tag back out to Tomko - who runs right into the line of fire from the WWE Champion. Edge hit’s the Edge-O-Matic, with Kendrick jumping in to break the count - but Edge moves out of danger, with Kendrick hitting Tomko instead!!!!

Kendrick looks stunned, and bounces up - right into a spinning heel kick from the WWE Champion!!! Backing the interim GM up into the corner, Edge beats the hell out of Kendrick, eventually tossing him out of the ring, then dropkicks Tomko, following with his modified face buster, then delivers a neck breaker … AND THEN DELIVERS THE SPEAR!!!!! Edge hooks the leg … 1...2... KENDRICK NAILS EDGE WITH THE WWE TITLE BELT!!!!!! Kendrick intentionally gets himself disqualified - in order to punish the WWE Champion!!!!!
    Winner: Via DQ - Edge @ 07:13

And even as the bell is called, Kendrick REPEATEDLY brings the title belt down on the back of Edge’s skull!!!!

Joey Styles: Can somebody put a stop to this!!!??? This idiot is out of control!!! He’s gone postal!!!

Kendrick draws BLOOD from the back of the WWE Champions head, throttling Edge with his own title belt in a violent, uncontrollable assault - SHOVING the official out of the way, and continuing to HAMMER the WWE Champion with his own title belt!!!!

Joey Styles: Damn it - THAT’S ENOUGH!!!

Jerry Lawler: We’re seeing a serious side to The Brian Kendrick right here, tonight, Styles!!

The Interim GM stands over Edge - the BLOODIED Champion, before kneeling down, pressing the title belt on the face of Edge, trash talking the Rated ‘R’ Superstar, making sure the WWE Champion realises how seriously he should be taking Kendrick - despite how goofy TBK may be at most times.

Joey Styles: He’s gone psycho!!! And what the hell kind of damage is this gonna do to the WWE Champion?? He has to defend that title in two weeks!!!

Jerry Lawler: This is a warning, Styles - he’s not to be taken lightly. Don’t let the goofball façade fool ya - this Kendrick is as nasty as they come!!

Joey Styles: And he has the WWE Championship in his sights. He’s systematically tearing the WWE Champion apart. Bit by bit, week by week … The Brian Kendrick is breaking down Edge, and with each passing night, Edge’s grip on the gold is being stretched … and the closer we get, the more it seems like The Brian Kendrick becoming WWE Champion is becoming a reality. What does this maniac have in store for next week???

The show comes to a close, with Kendrick standing up - grinning wickedly - slowly raising the WWE Title belt; covered in the blood of it’s owner, ending the show on a serious note…

    END OF SHOW

Re: November BTBOTM - Being The Booker

    SMACKDOWN REVIEW

Good win for Triple H at the start of the show. Never would you have seen Trips as a curtain raiser but hey things happen. Nothing about his attacker or has that been swept under the carpet.

I like that Kendrick is continuing with the ill treatment of Finlay. It might be a little repetitve but it's necessary and would totally be how Kendrick would be towards Finlay after the way the Irishman was with him.

Finally Jamie Noble speaks. Noble an ass as always and refusing to give Danielson a rematch wreaks of fear but I would just laugh if he lost the title to Bourne next week. Don't see it happening though and would be really into a triple threat, although I'm not sure what your plans outside of KOTR are for Danielson. Although looking at the brackets he might get some retribution in the semi-finals if both he and Noble win their quarter finals.

The situation between Melina sabotaging Fight Factory's title shot is interesting to say the least. If Melina is having doubts about MNM holding onto their titles is she even with the right team anymore? A departure could be in their future, especially if the cracks widen and MNM drop the titles.

Big statement from The Gods Of War and they don't look like they are going to be stopped anytime soon. With Richards claiming they ahve surpassed The Brothers Of Destruction I do wonder where they will head to next? Tag Titles are probably beneath them, no? World Championship contention could be the destination for one of the pair,if not both?

Trading Places is a favourite film of mine. That cracked me up!!!

I'm just sitting, and hoping, and waiting for Umage to snap and turn on Estrada!!! A face Samoan Bulldozer is a great option for the future of Smackdown. There's plenty of dominant heels around.

RVD continues to be a thorn in Jericho's side. I can see why Jericho would want Kendrick to get rid of RVD with the threat from RVD that he will not let Jericho cash in the briefcase. Something about what Kendrick said makes me think that he will get rid of Jericho instead, especially as Jericho has the briefcase and Kendrick intends on being the next Smackdown World Champion.

Good win for Truth but I don't see him getting past Dibiase in the next round, who will surely buy his way past Mark Henry.

Los Colons? A little confusing with Los Latinos on the same show but I can get with them wanting to incorporate their background into their image. But onto the actual segment and probably my favourite of the night. Epico and Primo put over their gripe with Carlito. Primo's being a little hypocritical as Styles said but Epico's looked brilliant and maybe he is the real reason that Primo has so much hate for his brother. Sets this feud up nicely and gives Los Colons a great start to their life in the WWE.

So Henry walks off, but he does not look happy about it. Also Kurt Angle lays down the gauntlet but I cannot see him getting to Finals week. Something needs to stop him meeting Dibiase as that would be a match that could have no real winner as both men would be heel(ish). I think he loses to MVP before he costs MVP the semi-final match. A MVP/Angle feud could be great. Still going with Dibiase/Danielson in the final.

Trips and Kendrick with some words. Still no mention of who attacked Triple H, must be a big brush sweeping it away. Although surely it was Mr K.

Definitely a gruesome end to the night. Kendrick as expected gets Finlay out of the way and despite Edge getting the win via DQ he won't be celebrating a victorious night after Kendrick leaves him battered and bloodied. Kendrick shwoing he is not to be takeb lightly. I'm intrigued by what happens in two weeks time, although what Triple H said might ring true... Kendrick has made so many enemies in so little time that maybe it will come back to bite him on the ass.

Overall another great show Wolfy and I'm really enjoying Smackdown. The Rule Of Kendrick has been highly enjoyable and I can't wait to see what happens next!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Re: November BTBOTM - Being The Booker

Thanks for the comments Sykotic. Glad you enjoyed it. Just to clear up the Triple H attacker angle from Judgment Day; it's purposely being downplayed due to Kennedy being 'fired' and the company policy of not mentioning his name on commentary or acknowledge his existence basically. The attack is mentioned though during Triple H's entrance on commentary, with Styles saying that police had been unable to press charges on the 'main suspect' in their investigation.

That's a fair point on the Los Colons/Latinos being a little too similar in name and potentially a little confusing. Might have to rethink the team name for the Colons slightly.

I'll look to get some feedback out to you in the next few days. Thanks again!

Re: November BTBOTM - Being The Booker

Haven't checked in for a while so thought I'd drop you some general comments about SmackDown. I thought Kendrick was highly entertaining throughout the night and even though he dominated the show, nothing felt forced or out of place. He's certainly racking up the enemies though with Edge, the ongoing stuff with Finlay and perhaps a new feud with Triple H on the horizon. I'd like to see more humiliation of Finlay, that seems like something Kendrick needs to exploit before his four weeks is up. And no doubt he will stack the deck against Edge, but I can't see him becoming champion. But yeah, Kendrick and Tomko are quite the comedy duo right now with just the right amount of brutality on display from that last segment. I still think from a comedy point of view 30 days of silence from Kendrick would have been gold, but if you're going to make him a more prominent player on SmackDown then this is the way to do it by involving him with the big boys.

Los Colons' reasons for attacking 'Lito are solid enough, although at least you had Styles call them out on how hypocritical they sound. Epico's reasons for being involved in all of this actually sounded more reasonable than Primo's, he being overlooked when Carlito was in his hour of need reeks of jealousy and I liked how you had him admit he needed Carlito's help to break into the WWE but never got it. For me, Epico has the bigger gripe than Primo, but I'm sure over the next few weeks you'll up the anti and build to a feud between Los Colons and The Connection. And could we even eventually build to 'Lito turning on Kofi and rejoining his family? That would be a pretty interesting way to take Carlito's character, to have him as the leader and figurehead of his family faction. But yeah, I liked the interview with Styles, although as I said, Epico seems the one with the real beef towards 'Lito. Primo's reasons might need a few more explanations before I'm fully sold on him.

Umaga and Henry's situations are kinda interesting, I just assumed we were in for one of them turning face (Henry was my guess) and then having a battle between them. But this show, both of them were showing face tendencies. Umaga seems destined to snap on Estrada at some point, while Henry seemed pretty pissed off about having to walk out on his match with DiBiase. I've got no idea if this is even going to happen anymore but I'd still like to see it, I think a real battle of these two would be beastly. As for DiBiase, what a way to make your debut. Is this going to be a regular occurance of him buying his way out of matches? Or is next week going to be his real debut?

And finally, I really liked Jericho's promo. You're certainly playing up the honest man character, a man furious at the fans trying to revel in his success, that was all great stuff. The line from RVD about whenever Jericho cashes in, Van Dam will be there, that seems like a hell of an obstacle for Jericho to overcome. There's got to be some kind of grudge match between these two, be it for the briefcase or not, but Jericho has to find a way to get rid of Van Dam for a while to clear the way for him to cash in. Could see you building towards something like that in time for the next SmackDown pay per view. But yeah, far from over for these two, a gimmick match between the two of them seems a sure thing in the near future.

Overall, I enjoyed that, Kendrick was a real highlight, and you've set a few things up nicely. While I see Kendrick only being a filler feud for Edge to keep him busy for a few weeks, Kendrick's impact will surely be felt and he'll no doubt talk himself into more trouble over the next few weeks. He's on the verge of breaking out in this thread, and I'll be reading to see how it goes. Keep it up man!

Re: November BTBOTM - Being The Booker

Monday Night Raw | June 2 2008 | Boise ID

Clips air of the shock appearance from Commissioner Ventura last week, ending Ranjin Singhs brief reign as the Interim General Manager of Raw, and signing an ELIMINATION CHAMBER match at the upcoming Vengeance PPV for the World Heavyweight Championship.

    Opening Video

    Pyro

    **HATE ME NOW**

The music of the World Heavyweight Champion opens the show, with JOHN CENA entering to his usual heat from the fans. Parading the title belt, the Man in Black makes his way down the ramp with a scowl fixed on his face, not paying any attention whatsoever to the fans.

    Jim Ross:
We are just thirteen days away from the next Raw Pay Per View extravaganza; WWE Vengeance. And in thirteen days at Vengeance, that man right there; John Cena, will defend the richest prize in the game inside Hell on Earth; the Elimination Chamber makes it’s return, and the deadliest structure within ALL the WWE will look to claim six more victims on June 15 in San Diego.

    The Coach:
But will it see a new World Heavyweight Champion crowned, old timer?? That’s the million dollar question!!

    Jim Ross:
Five hungry challengers are lining up to shoot down The Champ, that’s for sure. John Cena is a marked man at Vengeance, but as we’ve seen many times before, Cena is willing to do anything and everything in order to keep that gold. And on June 15, he may have to do just that!! But tonight, Cena has a match to get ready for!! Cena will team with Garrison Cade to take on Rey Mysterio and Shelton Benjamin!!

    The Coach:
All four men will be part of the Elimination Chamber at Vengeance, J.R. It could get nasty tonight in Boise!!!

    Jim Ross:
It could prove to be a combustible situation for sure, Coach!! That whole situation could break down. Plus, TWO more King of the Ring tournament matches - the final matches of the first round on the Raw side of the bracket - Cody Rhodes meets Tyson Kidd and Brent Albright; the returning King of the Ring, begins his quest to repeat as King, when he faces Paul London in a rematch of last years Semi-Final!! Not only that - TWO championships are on the line tonight. We’ll get to that in just a moment - but it looks like The Champ has something to say…

In the ring, Cena waits for the fans to settle down, rather than talk over them.

    John Cena:
You can bet your asses I’m pissed off tonight. I’m just as pissed off tonight as I was last week. So how about you all keep it shut!!?

The boos grow louder momentarily. Cena shakes his head.

    John Cena:
Seems to me that the reward a dominant champion gets for beating all comers … is havin to face ‘em all in one go.

The Champ shakes his head again in anger.

    John Cena:
As if that aint bad enough … I gotta do it … in the Elimination Chamber??

Pop for the Chamber. Dripping in sarcasm, Cena continues.

    John Cena:
    Sounds fair to me.

Cena tries to control his anger.

    John Cena:
There aint one thing fair about it!!

    Heat.

    John Cena:
Aint ONE of those five men comin for my belt worthy to step up to me. And Ventura knows it. Just like Ranjin Singh knew it. So to keep things interesting … he had to go stack the deck against me.

    Cena wryly smirks.

    John Cena:
Despite the fact I’ve BEAT Rey Mysterio just a month ago … ignoring that I beat him at the Royal Rumble too … HE is worthy of a crack at the gold again?? Beatin that twerp twice aint good enough anymore?? He gets a shot now because we headin to his home town?? The hell is that all about?? We gonna just keep givin Little Rey title shots until he can get lucky that one time?? Is that what’s goin on here??

    Boos.

John Cena: Then, we got Brent Albright?? The guy who has a title shot anytime he wants it - gets a shot at The Champ too?? A freebie??

    Cena pauses, looking angered.

    John Cena:
Garrison Cade?? Big and tough, for sure … but what’s he EVER done to earn a World Title shot?? NOTHIN!!!

Getting more and more angry, Cena continues putting down his challengers.

    John Cena:
Shelton Benjamin?? That guy’s been hoverin around this place for years and never even come CLOSE to a SNIFF at being World Champion. All of a sudden, HE’S worthy??

    The Champ scoffs.

    John Cena:
And don’t even get me started on Christian-

Big pop for Christian being mentioned.

    John Cena:
Yeah, you cheer him, but don’t forget the guy hasn’t won a match in months. Remember how BAD I beat him in front of seventy thousand people at WrestleMania?? He might not remember so good seein as he PASSED OUT that night.

    Heat.

    John Cena:
Five challengers - and aint one worthy of standing across the ring from me. But you throw ‘em all together, and lock us all in that Elimination Chamber?? I aint afraid to say it; anything can happen. All bets are off. There’s a chance I could lose this title.

Cena pauses for a moment, pacing around the ring before speaking again.

    John Cena:
So … what I suggest, Commissioner, is that if you’re so dead set on having this Chamber match at Vengeance … in the interest of fairness … you at least give The Champ the luxury of bein the last man to enter the damn thing.

    Boos for that suggestion.

    John Cena:
That sounds fair to me. I’ve earned that luxury. That’s the least I deserve.

Cena nods, looking around the arena…

    **THE BODY**

And right on cue, COMMISSIONER VENTURA joins the fray, earning a big time pop from the fans for getting a rare appearance from the Commissioner, as he waves to the audience, striding down the ramp, much to the chagrin of The Champ.

    Jim Ross:
And here he comes, Coach!! The man with all the power!! Commissioner Ventura is still on the lookout for a new General Manager, though there are rumours that JBL is now telling people close to him that he is ready to return to his position.

The Coach: And so he should - this man is drunk with power!! It’s Ventura that should be removed from his position - NOT Mr. Layfield. I want justice for Ranjin Singh, J.R!! You should too!!

    Jim Ross:
    Why??

    The Coach:
Why not?? Unfair dismissal!! That’s why!!

    Jim Ross:
He was under qualified for a job he should have never been in a position to have - and you know it!!

Jesse Ventura climbs into the ring, bypassing Cena as he collects a mic from Lillian Garcia through the ropes. The Commissioner looks to be enjoying the reaction from the fans, but eventually waves them off, getting right down to business, not even going for a cheap pop.

    Jesse Ventura:
John Cena, you can blow all the hot air you like - you cant convince these people that you’re facing five unworthy challengers. These people can see with their own two eyes what’s been going on around here - if anything … you’re an unworthy champion!!

Pop from the fans. Cena though, laughs at that suggestion.

    John Cena:
Obviously you’ve been spending your days as Commish out on the golf course, and jetsettin around the world, because you sure as hell aint been tunin into Raw. I’ve beat all comers. And before you came muscling back in and swinging your Johnson around, Ranjin Singh was gonna say the exact same thing. He was gonna tell all those pretenders to beat it.

    Jesse Ventura:
Well, that’s too bad that I had to show up then, isn’t it??

    Cena chuckles.

    John Cena:
    You can say that again.

    Jesse Ventura:
Don’t need to. Cena - you’ve had it all too easy under the old regime. You’ve called your own shots, and handpicked your own opponents. It’s about time you were put under pressure. So you get no more favours from authority figures around here. You might’ve pushed Ranjin Singh around … but you wont push ME around, buster.

Ventura prods his finger into the chest of Cena with each of the last four words he said. Cena doesn’t look impressed by the show of power from the Commissioner.

    Jesse Ventura:
You’ve been walking around here for the last three months like you’re untouchable…

    Cena shrugs, and Ventura smirks.

    Jesse Ventura:
And at the next Pay Per View, we’re gonna find out just how untouchable you are!!! Because I don’t CARE if you think it’s unjust. You WILL defend that Worlds title inside the Elimination Chamber. And if you truly believe that those five guys gunning for that belt aren’t worthy of being in there with you?? You’re gonna wake up about twelve pounds lighter on June 16.

The Champ defiantly shakes his head, telling Jesse, “Never gonna happen.”

    Jesse Ventura:
And one other thing - you, AND everyone else involved in that tag match tonight better not get any funny ideas. I want all four of you to show up, you’d all better give a hundred per cent too, and I don’t wanna see anyone walk out during the match or sandbag your partner to try and gain an advantage for the Elimination Chamber. Because if you, or anyone else DOES do that?? You most definitely wont be entering the Chamber last … but you might find yourself entering first.

Pop. Cena pauses for a moment, smirking through gritted teeth, before speaking.

    John Cena:
So you’re layin down the law then, huh?? That’s final, is it??

    Ventura nods.

    Jesse Ventura:
    You’re damn right that’s final.

    John Cena:
Fine. But so we’re clear. I might not be able to “push you around” … but if you keep screwin with me?? I’m gonna do much worse than just push ya.

Cena tosses the mic, and mockingly salutes the Commissioner, before taking off, leaving the ring, storming up the ramp, with Ventura left standing in the ring, watching The Champ depart.

    Jim Ross:
Well, there ya have it, Coach. The Commissioner has laid down the law!!

    The Coach:
He’s pushing his weight around, J.R!! But he better watch who he pushes, because John Cena wont give a damn who he is - if he gets on The Champs wrong side, Ventura is toast!!

    Jim Ross:
That tag team match up is still to come tonight, as are TWO title matches. CM Punk finally defends the Intercontinental Championship he won at Backlash against Kid Kash, and after the Angels of Anarchy earned their shot in the tag team turmoil a few weeks ago, they get their long awaited shot at Charlie Haas and Nick Dinsmore for the tag team gold!!!

    The Coach:
And don’t forget, Mickie James is back - TONIGHT!! Gail Kim and Beth Phoenix will make their match at Vengeance official, with Mickie set to be the guest referee … but what kind of Mickie James are we gonna see??

    Jim Ross:
She’s spent two months in a mental health facility, but she’s back tonight - against Doctors orders. Anything could happen. But when we come back, the King of the Ring tournament continues in earnest; Cody Rhodes goes one on one with Tyson Kidd!! It’s next!!!

    Commercial Break

Match 1 | KING OF THE RING TOURNAMENT | OPENING ROUND:
    Cody Rhodes vs. Tyson Kidd
Cody looks to catch Kidd off guard, going for a sneaky kick to the gut - but the foot is caught, and Kidd spins Cody around, quickly rolling him up … 1...2...NO!!! Cody was nearly caught, and he leaps up, swinging for a clothesline that misses wildly, allowing Kidd to go on the attack. Kidd ties up the arm, hitting a fancy version of an arm drag, but as he locks the arm up again and runs up the ropes, Rhodes has enough - and yanks Kidd back to the mat with a thud. All business, Rhodes backs Kidd into the corner, sending him HARD to the opposite corner, then delivers a snap suplex, floating over into a cover, 1...2...NO!!!

Rhodes slows it down, stomping the Canadian down in the corner, before backing Kidd into the ropes, driving a knee into the gut, then repeating the trick on the opposite side of the ring. Cody then hit’s the ropes, coming back, putting Tyson down with a running forearm shot. He sends Kidd off the ropes, but Tyson responds with a running head scissors!!! Following up, Kidd unleashes a dropkick on Cody, then sends Cody off the ropes, ducking for his return … but Rhodes slides on his back, surprising Tyson with an uppercut from the mat!! Rhodes delivers a snap mare, and runs off the ropes, kicking his seated opponent!! Cover, 1...2...NO!!! Rhodes wastes little time, slamming Kidd back down with a front suplex, and another cover, 1...2...NO!!!

Kidd then blocks a shot from Cody, and fires shots of his own back, backing Rhodes up, forcing Cody to respond with a knee to the gut to slow Tyson down. Cody takes off, hitting the ropes, charging toward Kidd, but the Canadian low bridges the ropes, with his momentum taking Rhodes over to the floor!! Kidd climbs onto the apron himself, and leaps off at Rhodes with a diving head scissors on the floor!!! Kidd rolls Cody back in, using the ropes to crack Cody with a roundhouse kick, and follows that up with a slingshot roll up on the weary Rhodes … 1...2...NO!!!! Kick out just in time from Rhodes … but he’s still on dream street, with Kidd following that up with a spin kick to knock Rhodes down again!!!!

Sensing his opportunity, Kidd gets back onto the apron, and springs off the top rope, looking for his BIG ELBOW … NO ONE HOME!!!!! Rhodes rolls out of danger, and spots his own opportunity, scoring with his patented DISASTER KICK on Tyson Kidd!!! 1...2...KIDD KICKS OUT!!!! Despite only making occasional appearances on Raw, Tyson Kidd is making a huge impression on the audience, with Cody getting more and more frustrated at his inability to finish off the spirited Canadian. Rhodes shakes his head, dragging Kidd up roughly, and into position - CROSS RHODES - NO!!!!! Tyson Kidd blocks it, and spins, stunning Rhodes with a NORTHERN LIGHTS SUPLEX!!!!! 1...2...RHODES JUST KICKS OUT!!!!!

Kidd nearly got it, and even briefly argues the count with the official, with hands on head at the near miss. With momentum on his side, Kidd drags Rhodes back up, sending Cody into the corner, following in - but is met with an elbow!! Kidd stumbles back, and Cody rushes out for a clothesline - but Kidd ducks, trips down Rhodes … and looks to lock in the SHARPSHOOTER!!! Cody Rhodes does his damnedest to avoid it though, shaking his legs furiously, and punches Kidd away. Cody scrambles to his feet, with Kidd meeting him, looking for a wheelbarrow roll up - blocked by Rhodes - and countered by Cody with a vicious face first SLAM!!! Cody peels Tyson off the mat quickly … CROSS RHODES!!!!! 1...2...3!!!!!!!
    Winner: Cody Rhodes @ 06:16
    *ADVANCES TO ROUND OF SIXTEEN*

Cody Rhodes advances to meet the winner of tonight’s main event between Albright and London, fending off a spirited effort from Tyson Kidd. Rhodes has his arm raised in victory, as we see his tag team partner Ken Doane - who’s own KOTR journey ended last week - clapping and nodding backstage as he watches the action on a monitor.

J.R and even Coach give Kidd credit for his performance tonight, with J.R saying Kidd raised his stock tonight - even in defeat - saying Kidd could be a potential future winner of the tournament in years to come. However, it’s a win for Rhodes in the end, as the youngster continues to shine on Raw, already bettering his effort in last years tournament by reaching the second round.

    Back at ringside…

    Jim Ross:
Welcome back to Monday Night Raw, and folks, as you’ll be aware, there’s been a match on Raw that began on April 28, the night after Backlash - thirty five days ago - that has still NOT been concluded. The Miz, the uh, Hardcore Champion-

The Coach: Don’t say it like that!!

    Jim Ross: Like what??

The Coach: With disdain!! Have respect for your Hardcore Champion, old timer!!

Jim Ross: Yeah, well, that “Champion” ran out of his title defence five weeks ago against Colt Cabana, forgetting one important detail - YOU CANT WALK OUT OF A HARDCORE TITLE MATCH!!! And ever since, these two have battled all over the buildings, all over the ringside area, and even as we saw last week, in a Spa!!

The Coach: Which is wrong on a number of levels, J.R. That’s harassment.

Jim Ross: Well, last night, there was another incident between The Miz and Colt Cabana, as The Miz attended the MTV Movie Awards in California!! Take a look at the footage recorded by our friends at MTV…

    Footage cuts to;

“LAST NIGHT - GIBSON AMPHITHEATRE, UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA”

The Miz is suited for the occasion, walking the red carpet for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards. Of course, he has his Hardcore Title with him, as we get brief soundbites of him being interviewed on the red carpet, talking about being a WWE Superstar and “the most respected champion in all of the WWE”…

As he continues on, Miz is in the middle of another interview, when a Paparazzo constantly flashes their camera, blinding Miz, who covers his eyes … AS COLT CABANA IS REVEALED TO BE THE PAPARAZZO!!!
Cabana then CREAMS Miz with the camera, hopping the barrier, and quickly making a cover, as Jimmy Korderas appears, making the count on the red carpet … 1...2...NO!!! Miz just kicks out, and calls out for help, with LOTS of high pitched screaming around the congested area, as Cabana NAILS Miz with an MTV microphone, going for another cover, 1...2...NO!!!

Miz then kicks Cabana away, before STEALING the purse of actress ELLEN PAGE, and CLOBBERS Colt over the head with it, momentarily stunning his opponent. However, the actress rips her purse back from Miz, and SLAPS him across the face!!!!! Miz sells the slap like he’s been shot, and it allows Cabana to grab him from behind a deliver a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP on the red carpet. 1...2...MIZ KICKS OUT!!!!!

Cabana drags Miz up, but Miz responds by raking the eyes of his opponent, and then tries to choke Colt with his bowtie … but the bowtie quickly snaps under the pressure!!! “DAMN IT!!” is the exclamation from Miz, with the Hardcore Champion picking up a Stanchion, removing the velvet ropes, but as he swings back, Colt ducks, and Miz misses, before Cabana tackles Miz down, pounding him on the floor!!!

Colt picks Miz up, pushing through the crowd, and looks to POWERBOMB Miz off a piece of staging … but as he loads him up into position before impact … Miz desperately clutches onto a piece of staging, preventing the Power bomb … with the Hardcore Champion then climbing onto a screen adorned with the MTV Movie Award logo, escaping the power bomb … and disappearing over the elaborate wall!!!!!

Cabana attempts to climb over after Miz in pursuit … but as he leaps up, SECURITY swarm him, holding Colt back, preventing him from chasing after the cowardly Hardcore Champion!!! Cabana is restrained by the security team, as shocked looking actors watch on, all open-mouthed, stunned by the carnage they’ve just witnessed…

Back at ringside, J.R doesn’t even try to sell the incident as anything other than embarrassing.

    Jim Ross:
And there ya have it. Flair/Steamboat it is not. The never-ending match … rages on. The Miz isn’t scheduled to be here this evening, and there’s no doubt wherever he is, Miz is probably hiding in fear.

    The Coach:
Colt Cabana should be embarrassed. What kind of example does this set?? Real people, my kind of people - celebs - what impression will they have gotten of the WWE last night?? The Miz was there, setting a perfect example of how to conduct yourself as a superstar … then that idiot had to show his stupid face!!! Unacceptable. And I know Ranjin Singh wouldn’t let this slide if he were in charge!!

    Jim Ross:
Ranjin Singh started this whole mess, Coach.

    The Coach:
Oh, you always had it in for him!! Any excuse to twist the knife!!

    Jim Ross:
Well, in any event, this Hardcore Title match continues. It may never end at this rate. But it could literally end at any minute. Anywhere. As we just saw. And if there’s a God above, that match will end at the earliest possible convenience. I hope.

    **WINGS OF A FALLEN ANGEL**

The arena lights dim to the spotlights on the stage, and the #1 Contenders for the coveted World Tag Team Championships; DOUG WILLIAMS and CHRISTOPHER DANIELS make their elaborate entrance. They flip their hoods off, and the lights return, with the pair looking to one another and nodding - as they look to FINALLY capture the tag team gold they’ve been chasing for almost an entire year since they debuted on Raw.

    Jim Ross:
But right now, it’s back to serious business!!! The World Tag Team Championships are about to be decided!! Daniels and Williams - who have BOTH progressed to the Round of Sixteen in the King of the Ring tournament - have been waiting for this shot since WrestleMania, when they came up short against the champions in that triple threat elimination match. They feel that in a straight up match, without the added third team, they have what it takes to dethrone Haas and Dinsmore-

    The Coach:
And we’re about to find out. They can “feel” all they want. The fact is, Doug Williams and Christopher Daniels have fallen short every single time they’ve challenged for the tag team gold.

    Jim Ross:
Tonight may well be the last chance these two will get. They’ve had three title shots already this year, but to earn this one, they came through a gruelling Tag Team Turmoil match three weeks ago on Raw. They’ve earned the right to be here. There’s no doubt about that.

    **PAY THE PRICE**

It’s a less fancy entrance for CHARLIE HAAS and NICK DINSMORE, with the tag team champions - who have BOTH been eliminated from the King of the Ring tournament - smack their belts off one anothers, before proceeding down the ramp, looking to make sure it’s not a completely disastrous few weeks.

    Jim Ross:
The Master Craftsmen have been damn well impressive since stepping up to the plate to win those titles at WrestleMania. They knocked off the dream team of Triple H and Shawn Michaels at Backlash, and held off the challenge of the hungry young pair of the New Standard last month - but in terms of a specialist tag team, Haas and Dinsmore MUST know this is the sternest test they’ll face.

The Coach: They know all about Daniels and Williams. They got the better of ‘em at WrestleMania, and I don’t think anything is gonna change in that department tonight. It wont be easy - not by a long shot - but The Master Craftsmen have Daniels and Williams numbers.

Match 2 | WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS MATCH:
The Master Craftsmen vs. The Angels of Anarchy
Daniels and Dinsmore start the match, with a number of standing switches and trading holds before Daniels cranks an arm wringer to gain the advantage. He tags in Williams, with Doug taking advantage of the trapped Dinsmore, roughing him up with European Uppercuts up against the ropes, sending him off, before dropping him with a big running uppercut. Daniels is tagged back in, and the challengers shoot Dinsmore off the ropes, knocking him back down with a double back elbow. Daniels drops down for the cover, 1...2...NO!! Daniels picks Dinsmore back up, but Nick explodes, charging The Fallen Angel into the corner, tagging Haas.

And quickly, with Dinsmore choking him, Haas stomps the body of Daniels, stopping him from getting any offence in, before sending Daniels off the ropes, knocking him right back down with a clothesline. With Daniels softened up, Haas shoots him back into the champions corner, going to work with the stomps again before tagging Dinsmore. Nick looks to pick a shot, but Daniels fires off, swinging back at Haas too, fighting off both champions to escape from the corner, but Dinsmore clubs the back to prevent him from getting to tag his partner. The Prodigy sends Daniels off the ropes, but he leaps over Dinsmore on the return, then ducks a clothesline, before connecting with an arm drag. Daniels rolls across the ring, and tags in Williams.

Williams backs Dinsmore into a neutral corner, going to work on the body, and in his peripheral vision, spots Haas rushing across the apron - but cuts Charlie off with a clothesline, sending him to the floor!! Dinsmore then looks to stop the momentum of the Brit, but Williams catches him - EXPLODER SUPLEX!!!!! 1...2...SHOULDER UP!!! Dinsmore just survives, and Williams stays on him, beating Dinsmore into the corner, then tags Daniels back in again, with the challengers delivering a double back body drop on Nick Dinsmore, before offering one another a nod, setting up TOTAL ELIMINATION!!! … Dinsmore struggling to his feet, cant imagine what is coming, with The Angels of Anarchy looking to finish the match…

… But CHARLIE HAAS provides a momentary distraction from the double team move, only to get tossed right back out by Daniels … but in the meantime, Dinsmore has ducked down and ROLLED out of the ring to safety!!!! Boos rain down on the tag champions, as they regroup on the floor, but Daniels isn’t going to allow Haas and Dinsmore any time to recover … AS HE HITS AN ARABIAN PRESS TO THE FLOOR ONTO THE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!!!!! The Fallen Angel pumps up the fans with the high risk move, as J.R predicts the titles are slipping from the champions grasp … as Raw goes to a commercial…

    Commercial Break

Back live, Christopher Daniels is in charge against Charlie Haas, shooting him off the ropes, delivering a calf kick to the returning Haas. Tying up the arm, Daniels tags back out to Williams, who drives a knee into the gut of Haas, with Daniels then delivering a drop toe hold, followed by a knee drop to the back of the head by the Anarchist. He covers, 1...2...NO!!! Dinsmore was halfway in the ring, and Williams notices as he gets up, having a few choice words for Nick, but that allows Haas to rush Williams into the heel corner, with Dinsmore quickly making a tag in. Williams though fights the champions off, foiling their plan, knocking Dinsmore down, and he makes a tag back out himself to the Fallen Angel.

Daniels flies into the ring with a springboard clothesline to Dinsmore, instantly into the lateral press, 1...2...NO!!! Daniels looks for an Irish Whip, but it’s reversed by Nick, with Daniels returning, looking for a tilt-a-whirl, but Dinsmore puts a stop to that with a sidewalk slam, right into a hook of the leg; 1...2...NO!!! Dinsmore momentarily applies a headlock, making sure to keep control of the challenger, and then looks to snap off a suplex, but Daniels lands behind him, running Dinsmore into the ropes, getting a roll up, 1...2...NO!!! Daniels comes bouncing back off the ropes, initially ducking under Dinsmore - before the two men COLLIDE and knock each other down in the middle of the ring.

Dinsmore and Daniels both are in a race to tag out to the fresher man - with Dinsmore getting to Haas … and Daniels tagging Williams!! The Englishman beats Haas to the punch, backing him into a corner, sending him across the ring to the opposite, but as he charges in - DINSMORE YANKS HIS PARTNER OUT OF DANGER!!! Doug hit’s the ring post with his shoulder, and Haas quickly sniffs the blood, and RAMS Williams - shoulder first - right back into the post!!! Charlie then grabs the attention of the referee … allowing Dinsmore to illegally interfere, yanking the arm of Williams over the top rope, causing more stress to the shoulder!!!! Haas delivers a belly to back suplex, dropping Doug on his shoulder; cover - 1...2...BROKEN BY DANIELS!!!!!

The Fallen Angels has seen enough, not allowing the illegal double teaming to be the deciding factor of the match. Still, the champions are in charge, and Dinsmore becomes the legal man, dropping Williams with a shoulder breaker over his knee, into another cover, 1...2...NO!!! Taking Williams to the corner, Dinsmore and Haas tag in and out, taking turns to stomp the Brit - especially targeting the arm. Haas then starts to pound the shoulder, but Williams takes Haas by surprise, fighting back with his good arm, escaping the corner, swinging back with an elbow to knock Dinsmore silly, then knocks Haas down with a clothesline … seeing freedom, Doug looks for a tag…

…But Haas GRABS HIS LEG!!!!! Williams stomps Haas to free himself, but it allows Dinsmore to run in and blast the bad shoulder!!! Daniels tries to hit the ring in retaliation, but the official holds him back … allowing the champions to double team Williams, with Dinsmore delivering a snap mare, and Haas with a dropkick to the shoulder. Dinsmore comes back off the ropes, dropping an elbow, and Haas goes for the cover; 1...2...NO!!! Charlie Haas drags Williams up, wanting a German, but the Brit manages to counter, into a VICTORY ROLL … 1...2...NO!!! But, as Haas pushes out of the pin, he shoves Williams right into the path of Daniels - TAG MADE!!!!!

And Daniels hit’s the ring like a bat out of hell!! It’s a whirlwind of dropkicks, arm drags and back body drops for the Tag Team Champions, with the momentum suddenly swinging back in the challengers favour, as we also see Williams try to loosen his arm up, whilst Daniels continues to dominate the champs. Daniels begins to open up on Dinsmore with kicks in the middle of the ring - when Haas lunges in behind - EXPLODING with a German Suplex, cutting the momentum of the Fallen Angel instantly!!! 1...2...NO!!!

The Master Craftsmen regroup, backing Daniels into the ropes after subduing him, and shoot him off … BUT DANIELS COMES BACK WITH A DOUBLE CROSS BODY ON THE CHAMPIONS!!!! Christopher Daniels climbs to the top rope, but Dinsmore looks to stop him, racing up with him - SHOVED back off by Daniels, and the Fallen Angel flies off at Haas - ROLL THROUGH - 1...2...DANIELS KICKS OUT!!! Both men jump up quickly, with Haas racing at Daniels - but he is sent over and out by the Fallen Angel. Haas stumbles around ringside, with Daniels looking to follow out - but the official stops him from exiting!!!

As Daniels argues with the referee, Dinsmore spots his own opening to attack the Fallen Angel, but the Prodigy is cut off by Doug Williams, who comes back into action in style with a Belly to Belly on Dinsmore!!! Haas returns, looking to save his partner, but Daniels ducks under a clothesline attempt, with Williams hot shotting Haas off the ropes, with Charlie returning, spaghetti legged … TOTAL ELIMINATION CONNECTS!!!!! Daniels hooks the leg … 1...2...DINSMORE DRAGS THE REFEREE OUT OF THE RING TO SAVE THE TITLES!!!!!

Boos fill the arena, with a furious Christopher Daniels delivering a baseball slide to the interfering Nick Dinsmore, then tags Doug to make him the legal man, telling him to finish the job. Daniels delivers a basic slam to Haas as The Anarchist climbs up top, looking for his patented BOMBS AWAY … BUT HE GETS SHOVED OFF BY NICK DINSMORE!!!!! Dinsmore rolls Williams back into the ring, just as Daniels leaps out of the ring at him … whilst Haas removes a turnbuckle pad in amongst the chaos … AND RAMS Williams - SHOULDER FIRST - into the turnbuckle, before applying the HAAS OF PAIN!!!!! The submission is locked on, and as Daniels tries to break it, Dinsmore drags him out of the ring, CLEANING HIM OUT with a title belt shot!!!!!! In the ring, Williams has no other option … but to TAP out!!!!!!
Winners: And STILL World Tag Team Champions - The Master Craftsmen @ 13:09

Taking the low road, Haas and Dinsmore manage to see off the challenge of the Angels of Anarchy, but not without a HUGE scare in the climax of the match, as J.R vents at the cheating champions ending the hopes of the challengers.
Haas and Dinsmore don’t hang around for long, being handed their gold on the floor, and having their arms raised, as we see Daniels still on the floor from taking the belt shot, and Williams writhing in the ring, clutching at his shoulder.
The Champions back up the ramp, patting each others title belt, talking over a job well done, as Daniels starts to recover on the outside, whilst an angry Williams - still holding his shoulder - watches as the champions depart.

Backstage, the EAST COAST PARTY BOYS are seen watching the show on a monitor along with TIFFANY…

    Tiffany:
Guys, you’ve just witnessed Charlie Haas and Nick Dinsmore successfully retain the World Tag Team Championships, albeit with some controversy.

Hawkins shrugs, and turns away from the monitor to talk to Tiffany.

    Curt Hawkins:
Well, what else do you expect from those guys?? That’s what they always do, Tiff.

    Zack Ryder:
But we were watching - real close - and for good reason. Doug and Christopher?? They’ve had enough shots at it now. Curt and I want our go at those tag team titles.

    Hawkins nods.

    Curt Hawkins:
Seeing as we just beat one of the most decorated teams in WWE history - two weeks straight - Zack and I … we think we’ve earned our chance.

    Zack Ryder:
People might see us as two pretty boys who like to have a good time …

    Curt Hawkins:
… And we’re here to say, they’re not wrong.

    Both men smirk.

    Zack Ryder:
BUT- as much as we like to kick back and sip on a Long Island Iced Tea into the small hours of the night, we’re also serious about reaching the TOP of the tag team division here on Raw. And not just because those tag titles would get us SOOO much attention off the girls when we hit the club-

    Curt Hawkins:
    But it most definitely would!!

Ryder nods, and fist bumps Hawkins.

    Zack Ryder:
Bro, you know it!!! But, after what we’ve done the last two weeks, the East Coast Party Boys have proven we’re no joke. We’ve earned a shot at being taken seriously around here.

    Curt Hawkins:
It’s coming up on a year since we hit the scene, Tiffany, so, I guess all that-

    HAWKINS AND RYDER GET BLINDSIDED-

    BY AMERICAS MOST WANTED!!!!!

Tiffany races out of the picture for safety, as Harris and Storm - the sore losers they are - take their frustrations out on Hawkins and Ryder!! AMW mercilessly hammer the East Coast Party Boys, unable to accept they were beaten twice in a row by the up and comers, embarrassed by their own failures.

Americas Most Wanted pound the youngsters with punches and boots, showing no mercy, leaving Hawkins and Ryder writhing on the floor, finishing the assault by SPITTING on the fun-loving Party Boys, with Harris shouting at the pair; “YOU DON’T MAKE A NAME OFF AMW - AND YOU SURE AS HELL DON’T GET A TITLE SHOT - OVER OUR DEAD BODIES, BOYS!!!”

Storm pats his partner on the shoulder, smirking at their handiwork, telling Ryder and Hawkins; “SORRY BOUT YO DAMN LUCK!!!” Americas Most Wanted walk off the picture, having sent their message to the East Coast Party Boys, with the camera focusing on the writhing pair of Ryder and Hawkins as we fade out…

Raw returns, with LAYLA EL is stood in the ring, waiting for KELLY KELLY ahead of their rematch, after Kelly defeated Layla on Raw last week…

    **HOLLA**

Again, full of smiles, KELLY KELLY enters the stage, getting a warm response from the fans. The popular blonde slaps hands with fans on her way to the ring, with J.R explaining that Layla DEMANDED this rematch tonight, believing Kelly “got lucky” last week on Raw.

    Match 3:
    Layla El vs. Kelly Kelly
Like last week, it’s not much to write home about. Kelly looks somewhat impressive, but it’s a clunky match, with Layla dominating the middle portion. Kelly makes a comeback but this week, Layla has the SPECIAL K scouted, and avoids it, rolling out of the ring, and then trips Kelly from the outside, dragging her to the floor. Layla then catapults Kelly into the ring post - much to the shock of the fans, and rolls Kelly back inside … 1...2...NO!!!!! Layla argues with the official over the count and drags Kelly Kelly back up to her feet … BUT GETS CAUGHT WITH AN INSIDE CRADLE … 1...2...3!!!!
    Winner: Kelly Kelly @ 03:21

It’s 3-0 for Kelly, surprising Layla with the cradle tonight - and that will surely only further infuriate Layla and her inability to get the better of the young blonde. Kelly rolls right out of the ring after victory, getting her hand raised on the floor, whilst Layla is beside herself in the ring, losing her shit at losing to Kelly Kelly again.

A video package then airs, focusing on the SHAWN MICHAELS/BROCK LESNAR rivalry, starting last October when both men were named team captains for the Raw vs. Smackdown Survivor Series Elimination Match. Lesnar eliminated HBK from the match with Michaels being the first man eliminated from Team Raw, leading to questions over whether The Showstopper was now over the hill, with Michaels then gaining a measure of revenge by eliminating Brock from the Royal Rumble.

Lesnar then brutally assaulted Shawn Michaels a few weeks later on Raw, leading to their instant classic at WrestleMania, where Michaels pulled off what many considered to be an upset victory over the Iron Man. Then, a month later, Lesnar was drafted to Raw and again attacked HBK, sore over the loss to Michaels at the Showcase of the Immortals. Paul Heyman - the agent for Lesnar - then issued the challenge for a WrestleMania rematch, but Michaels flat out refused.

Michaels would then disappear for a number of weeks, whilst Lesnar and Heyman would keep throwing out the challenge, determined to prove that WrestleMania was simply an aberration. Finally, last week, HBK made his return to Raw, eventually accepting the challenge from Lesnar - making the rematch official for June 15 on PPV at Vengeance.

    Back at ringside…
Jim Ross: And indeed, in thirteen days, Shawn Michaels and Brock Lesnar will go at it once again in a WrestleMania rematch, and I for one, cannot wait. An instant classic on March 30, it could be another in San Diego on Pay Per View. Brock Lesnar will be chomping at the bit to redeem himself after the loss at WrestleMania, but Shawn Michaels too has a point to prove - that he IS better than Lesnar. That it WASN’T simply a one off at WrestleMania. And there will be no doubt whatsoever who the better man is on June 15 as we have learned that Shawn Michaels and Brock Lesnar will compete in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls Match at Vengeance!!!

    The Coach:
I cannot wait, J.R!! There can be no excuses at Vengeance. Someone will have to win two falls, and I can only see one of those two men being able to score two wins on the night - and that’s Brock Lesnar. Shawn Michaels struck the lotto when he beat Lesnar at Wrestle Mania - anyone can get lucky once … NO ONE could beat Brock Lesnar twice in one night. No one.

    Jim Ross:
We’ll find out on June 15. And next week, one week out from the WrestleMania Rematch, Shawn Michaels and Brock Lesnar will be in the same ring at the same time-

    The Coach:
On the Playas Club!! That’s right, baby boy - drink it in!! The Coach will have the scoop with Brock and HBK on the show, next week!!

    Jim Ross:
Yeah … you’re our version of Letterman, Coach.

    The Coach:
Please … I’m better than that old dinosaur.

    **AINT NO STOPPIN ME**

The Black Diamond, SHELTON BENJAMIN hit’s the stage, fired up and full of energy for the big tag team showdown between four of the six men involved in the Elimination Chamber for the World Heavyweight Championship at Vengeance.

    **BOOYAKA 619**

Popping up from under the trapdoor, REY MYSTERIO gets a big pop from the fans in Boise, slapping hands and touching masks with fans on the way to the ring, as J.R informs the fans we’ll get the tag match when Raw returns on the other side of the commercial break.

    Commercial Break

Raw returns with GARRISON CADE at ringside, having made his entrance during the commercial…

    **HATE ME NOW**

With the Big Gold Belt raised high above his head, the Man in Black, JOHN CENA marches down the ramp, still getting as much heat now as he was earlier at the top of the show. The Champ reaches the bottom of the ramp, and meets Cade in their corner, clearly being shown to tell the big Texan; “follow my lead.”

    Match 4:
Rey Mysterio & Shelton Benjamin vs. Garrison Cade & John Cena
During the early going, J.R hypes the main event later between Albright and London in the King of the Ring tournament, plus an exclusive sit down interview with Christian to air later in the night too. With the threat of being forced to enter the Elimination Chamber first at Vengeance, all four men are on their best behaviour - as partners at least - with no one shirking a tag or any threat of attacking their partners, but there’s still tension between Cena and Cade, with the Lone Star not taking kindly to being ‘led’ by the World Champion, and having Cena in his ear whilst on offence.

    {/SECOND HOUR}

On the other side though, Benjamin and Mysterio gel very quickly as a unit, both using their speed and guile to bamboozle Cena and Cade. Not just content with co-existing, Shelton and Rey even bust out a few double team moves, keeping them in the driving seat for almost the first half of the match. As ever, and rightfully so, Rey is the target for Cade and Cena though, and once Cena catches Rey with a Blue Thunder Bomb, the tide turns in the favour of the two power houses, with Cade and Cena taking over the match. And, despite them not gelling like Rey and Shelton, The Champ and the Lone Stars bruising offence is enough to make them a formidable unit.

Rey barely even gets a hope spot whilst Cade and Cena dominate, rag dolling Mysterio around the ring, with Cena landing the now ironic Five Knuckle Shuffle - getting him even more heat as he mocks the fans. Mysterio though wont give up, refusing to stay down, and he battles out of a bear hug from Cena, firing up, but before he can make it to Benjamin, Rey has his clock cleaned inside out by Cena. The Champ then gets Rey up for an FU … but Rey LANDS ON HIS FEET … taking off on the ropes, and returning with a head scissors … before tumbling into his own corner - TAGGING SHELTON BENJAMIN!!!!!

Benjamin hit’s the ring, all guns blazing - taking the fight to Cade and Cena, hitting STINGER SPLASHES to both men, then Dragon Whips Cade out of the ring, and then sets himself up top, looking for a BLOCKBUSTER to Cena … WHEN CADE SHOVES HIM TO THE FLOOR!!!!! Cade looks pleased with his interference, but as he drops down to the floor he doesn’t see Rey coming from the ring - TAKING CADE OUT WITH A SOMERSAULT PLANCHA!!!!! In the ring, Cena recovers, and eventually reaches out through the ropes to drag Shelton back in… but as he reaches out … Rey is back in … AND DELIVERS THE 619 TO CENA!!!!!

Now, with Cena down, Shelton climbs to the top rope, getting there as Cena rises … BLOCKBUSTER CONNECTS!!!!! Benjamin has the World Heavyweight Champion PINNED … BUT THE REFEREE DOESN’T COUNT??? Benjamin has the visual pinfall on Cena, but the referee informs the Black Diamond that CADE is the legal man, as J.R tells the fans that as Benjamin tagged Rey earlier, Cade also made a blind tag on Cena!!! Benjamin is livid, having the World Champion beaten in the middle of the ring, but instead, he has to refocus, and climbs out of the ring, coming for Cade - BUT CADE CHARGES SHELTON INTO THE STEPS!!!!!

Cade throws Benjamin back inside, and winds up, looking for the HEART PUNCH - BLOCKED BY BENJAMIN!!!!! The Black Diamond avoids the deadly punch, fighting back against Cade, but he’s overpowered by the Lone Star, who sends Shelton off the ropes - with Rey making a blind tag - and Shelton ducks under a wild clothesline from Cade … as REY SPRINGS OFF THE ROPES FOR A SEATED SENTON - but Cade SIDESTEPS - and Rey is CAUGHT by the recovering Cena (who tosses Shelton out of the ring as he passed under Cade) AND DRILLED WITH AN FU!!!!! Cena then keeps Shelton out of the ring, as Cade covers Mysterio … 1...2...3!!!!!
Winners: Garrison Cade & John Cena @ 11:16

The win for Cade and Cena takes the wind out of the fans sails, with Rey and Shelton seemingly on the brink of a big win, as Shelton had Cena PINNED for a long time, only to find out The Champ wasn’t the legal man. It’s the first time Shelton Benjamin has been on the losing side of a match since he returned from injury in March, but John Cena remains undefeated in ANY match since Summerslam.

Cena and Cade have their arms raised, whilst shooting each other glances - neither trusting the other - and indeed, Cade points to the title belt on Cenas shoulder before motioning around his own waist … to which Cena shakes his head, gesturing that NONE of the challengers facing him at Vengeance have what it takes to knock him off.

Meanwhile on the outside, Shelton Benjamin looks massively disappointed, with J.R again pointing out that Benjamin HAD Cena beat, as we get a replay of the moment Cade made his blind tag on Cena, proving that the referee DID make the right call. The Black Diamond has his hands on his hips at ringside, giving Rey some encouragement despite the loss, locking eyes with Cena in the ring, letting The Champ know he had him beat…

Backstage, BRENT ALBRIGHT is going through his final warm ups, with CHARLIE HAAS and NICK DINSMORE along with him in the locker room, offering some last minute words of encouragement ahead of tonight’s main event.

    Charlie Haas:
You know you got this - you’ve beat Paul London a hundred times over.

    Nick Dinsmore:
This is YOUR tournament, Brent. This is yours for the taking now. You did it last year, you know what to expect - better than anyone else.

Albright pauses his warm up, and nods at his cohorts before glugging a bottle of water.

    Brent Albright:
Damn right I do. I’ll be glad to get London out of the way and be on MY way to retaining this crown.

    Charlie Haas:
Just think, you’re gonna be the first guy to retain the King of the Ring - and you’re gonna do it as World Champion.

    Albright nods again.

    Brent Albright:
And then - we’re gonna have all the belts. All the glory.

    Voice:
Well … that all sounds perfect, doesn’t it??

The Master Craftsmen look around to see who the voice belongs to … and it’s COMMISSIONER VENTURA standing in the doorway.

    Nick Dinsmore:
    Can we help you??

Ventura shakes his head, stepping into the room and folding his arms, before addressing the Tag Champs.

    Jesse Ventura:
No. I’m just passing by to remind the two of you that there’s no ringside presence allowed during the King of the Ring tournament matches - including Mister Albrights match with Paul London later.

    Charlie Haas:
    Yeah, we’re aware.

    Jesse Ventura:
Good. Also - wanted to inform you two gentlemen that I’m not gonna allow you to get away with what you pulled earlier tonight. So, given how that match ended, the way I see it, there’s unfinished business between you and the Angels of Anarchy.

    Charlie Haas:
No there’s not, we just beat-

    Jesse Ventura:
So much so, that at Vengeance, you can do it all over again!!

Dinsmore throws his belt down in fury, and Haas puts his hands on his head, whilst Albright shakes his head.

    Nick Dinsmore:
No!! We beat those two tonight. We beat them at WrestleMania, we-

    Jesse Ventura:
Then it shouldn’t be an issue beating them again at Vengeance, should it?? And let me tell ya this; until I announce the new General Manager of Raw and hand over the reigns, the two of you will KEEP defending those titles against Christopher Daniels and Doug Williams until you can beat ‘em fair and square. Understood??

Ventura doesn’t even wait for a response.

    Jesse Ventura:
    That’s great.

And with that, the Commissioner turns and leaves. All three of the Master Craftsmen look to be fuming at his announcement. Albright turns away, picking up his tape, proceeding to continue his preparations, as Haas softly mutters.

    Charlie Haas:
The sooner he names a new General Manager the better…

Haas shakes his head, as we fade out...

    Back into the arena…

    **KASH MONEY**

The Notorious K-I-D hit’s the stage to a nice pop from the fans, clapping as he walks down the ramp and pumping his fist - looking PUMPED for his major opportunity at major gold. KID KASH hit’s the ring, climbing the ropes, indicating he’s number one, before making the universal belt motion around his waist.

    Jim Ross:
What an unexpected rise this has been for Kid Kash since being drafted to Raw about two months ago!! Stagnating on Smackdown, this eighteen year veteran has experienced an incredible upswing in his fortunes, he’s in the last sixteen of the King of the Ring tournament, and he could be about to cap it off if he can dethrone the Intercontinental Champion here tonight!!

    The Coach:
You say unexpected, I say unexplainable. It’s like Kid Kash has been body snatched and turned into a completely different guy since coming to Raw!! He was supposed to just make up the numbers!!

    Jim Ross:
He’s been rejuvenated by the move, and I for one am glad to see it. A competitor blessed with incredible talent - and tonight, could be the absolute pinnacle of Kid Kash entire career if he can pull it off.

    **THIS FIRE BURNS**

Calmly strolling through the curtain, CM PUNK has the Intercontinental Title around his waist, and the champion proudly rubs the belt, showing it off as he walks down the aisle.

    Jim Ross:
And finally, CM Punk will defend the championship he won at Backlash in April. Despite his best efforts to seemingly never defend the championship, Jesse Ventura has saw to it that CM Punk will be a fighting champion - whether he wants to be or not.

The Coach: It’s not that he doesn’t want to defend the title, J.R. There’s just a lack of worthy contenders. And I see his point. Plus, he’s got the King of the Ring tournament to be focusing on right now. To force him to switch focus onto defending his championship is giving the other competitors an unfair advantage.

    Jim Ross:
Then he should withdraw from the tournament or relinquish his belt if he isn’t up to the task of fighting on two fronts, Coach. And as for worthy contenders, I could name a dozen!! This punk kid just doesn’t want to be put at risk.

Punk climbs into the ring, taking his belt off, and shows it off in front of the challenger, having a few words for Kash - who looks unaffected, and instead chews confidently on some gum, nodding back at Punk.

Match 5 | INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
    CM Punk vs. Kid Kash
Starting off with a tie up, Punk transitions straight into a side headlock, sporting a cocky grin - which backfires on him quickly, as Kash trips Punk, then takes him over as Punk leaps up with a firemans carry, before reeling off a series of arm drags on the champion!! Kash sends Punk off the ropes, but Punk hangs onto them - only for Kash to anticipate it, and he races across, DROPKICKING Punk - sending the champion over the top rope, sprawling to the floor!!!!! And as Punk picks himself up … KASH HIT’S A SOMERSAULT PLANCHA TO PUNK ON THE FLOOR!!!!! It’s ALL Kid Kash, as J.R bellows Raw into a commercial…

    Commercial Break

Back live, CM Punk has turned the tables, and is now working over Kash, as clips air from during the commercial, when Kash tried to suplex Punk into the ring from the apron, but ended up being hung up on the ropes by the champion, swinging the momentum into Puns favour. Now, Punk has Kash on the mat, with a side headlock applied, wearing the challenger down. Kash escapes the hold, but a comeback is quickly nullified by Punk with a clothesline. Punk then scores a near fall off a snap suplex, and hits his signature corner running knee followed by a Bulldog for another two count, before setting himself on the apron, and looks for a springboard clothesline - BUT KASH EXPLODES WITH A DROPKICK!!!

Punk hit’s the floor again, and Kash rolls out, slamming the champions head off the ring apron, but Punk responds with a rake to the eyes of Kash!!! The champion attempts to send Kash into the barrier - but Kash instead LEAPS onto the barricade - AND MOONSAULTS back off onto Punk!!!!! The fans pop big for Kash, who sends Punk back into the ring, backing him into the ropes, unleashing some rough knife edge chops. Punk reverses a whip off the ropes, but Kash ducks under on the return, hitting the ropes with a double springboard to the top - LEAPING OFF WITH A HURRICANRANA to Punk!!!!! 1...2...KICK OUT!!!!!

The fans are in raptures with the classy offence of the Notorious K-I-D, whilst Punk decides to roll out of the ring, seemingly having had enough, making a beeline for his title at ringside … but Kash puts a stop to it with a slingshot cross body taking out Punk on the floor!!! Back inside, Kash scores a near fall, before kicking Punk in the gut, doubling him over, then runs off the ropes - BUT Punk catches Kash on the return - RIGHT INTO POSITION FOR THE GTS - but Kash rolls out of it, almost into a sunset flip, 1...2...NO!!! Both men leap up, with Kash charging at Punk in the corner - but Punk sidesteps Kash, who hit’s the corner, which allows Punk to deliver the PEPSI TWIST!! 1...2...NO!!! The champion sends Kash off the ropes, but is taken down with a head scissors on the return from Kash!!!

Kash now heads up top, possibly wanting the BANKROLL - which has served him well in recent weeks - but Punk explodes to his feet, catching Kash up top, then follows, looking for a SUPERPLEX - blocked by Kash, and Kash shoves Punk off!!! Kash then leaps off, looking for a diving HURRICANRANA - but Punk refuses to go down to it, overpowering Kash, preventing the rana from being completed, and loads him up - POWERBOMBING Kash into the corner!!! The challenger bounces out of the corner - such was the force Punk tossed him in - into the path of Punk, who delivers a nasty looking double arm backbreaker!!! He hooks the leg, 1...2...KASH KICKS OUT!!!!!

Punk argues the count with the referee, convinced it was a three, haranguing Scott Armstrong around the ring, before finally returning to Kash, punishing the veteran challenger, sitting him up, and driving elbows into the chest of Kash relentlessly. He eventually drags Kash to his feet, opening up with some martial arts kicks and slaps to Kash, but as he goes to sweep the legs of the challenger, Kash leaps over, then fires back, chopping Punk, but Punk cuts out the comeback with a knee deep into the gut. Punk looks to follow that with a swinging neck breaker - but Kash spins out of it, and HITS HIS OWN NECKBREAKER!!!!! Kash climbs up top, with Punk staggering to his feet - BANKROLL - NO!!! Punk side steps … Kash lands on his feet … but gets scooped right up - GTS!!!!!!! 1...2...3!!!!!
Winner: And STILL Intercontinental Champion - CM Punk @ 10:58

Punk overcomes the spirited challenge of the veteran Kid Kash, retaining his Intercontinental Title!! And there’s a sense of relief on Punks face initially after getting his hand raised, before the devilish smirk returns, with the champion getting his hands back on the I.C title belt.

Jim Ross: CM Punk has defeated a game Kid Kash here tonight on Raw, but I for one would pay to see these two go at it again!! Kid Kash gave it absolutely everything here tonight in pursuit of one of the most prestigious championships in all the world … but on this night, it simply wasn’t to be. There’s no shame for the veteran - he gave Punk more than he can say grace over tonight-

The Coach: But he didn’t get the job done, baby boy. CM Punk - against his own will - defended his title tonight. That’s the sign of a true champion - and I’m glad we’ve finally got a champion we can be proud of. That oughta shut up Jesse Ventura for a while.

Punk walks up the ramp, teasing the fans with his title, whilst in the ring, Kid Kash is still flat on his back, covering his face with his hands in anguish, following his bitter loss, being so close to capturing such a major championship.

    Jim Ross:
This is what we should expect from champions. CM Punk shouldn’t have to be forced to defend his title - he should be a fighting champion. And don’t even start with that nonsense that there aint worthy contenders. We just saw one of MANY men on this roster that can push CM Punk to the absolute limit. But for Kid Kash - and indeed CM Punk - both men’s attentions will now turn back to the King of the Ring tournament; they’re both in action next week in the round of sixteen - one win away from finals night in London.

    The Coach:
Christopher Daniels stands in CM Punks way of the Quarter Finals, and once Punk gets past the Fallen Angel, he might even find himself back in the ring with the man he just beat; Kid Kash goes one on one with Nick Nemeth next Monday, baby boy - and the winners of those two matches meet in the Quarters!!

    Jim Ross:
The King of the Ring tournament is certainly hotting up, Coach, there’s no doubt about it. Still to come tonight - the final first round match up on the Raw side of the draw; a rematch from last years semi-final stage; the returning King, Brent Albright, going one on one with his old rival; Paul London. But- before that; coming up next on Raw - Gail Kim and Beth Phoenix will make their match up at Vengeance official. With Mickie James set to return also as the special guest referee.

The Coach: It could ALL go off J.R. There could be absolute carnage out here if Mickie loses her mind again!!

    Commercial Break

Raw returns with COMMISSIONER VENTURA standing in the ring, set to preside over the Womens Championship contract signing, with the red carpet in the ring, and the obligatory table and chairs…

    Jesse Ventura:
I think you’ll all know what’s going on here, so without any further adieu - let’s get these ladies out here!!

Ventura turns, and looks to the stage…

    **GLAMAZON**

The Glamazon, BETH PHOENIX, makes her way out to the ring, dressed professionally in a business suit for the occasion. Looking straight ahead, Beth doesn’t acknowledge the fans, but does her usual pose, raising her hands on her way to the ring.

    Jim Ross:
Beth Phoenix and Gail Kim have twice battled to unsavoury outcomes, with referees finding themselves in harms way - to the point where the officials on Raw all together REFUSED to officiate any future matches between this young woman, and the Womens Champion, Gail Kim. As a result, we’re left with the situation we have now where Mickie James - against doctors advice - will make her return to be the woman in the middle of this mess at Vengeance.

The Coach: It’s absolutely not ideal - but credit to Ranjin Singh for this solution. Don’t let Ventura steal all the credit.

    Jim Ross: Are you serious??

Beth takes a seat at the table in the ring, awaiting the champion…

    **STRONG AND SEXY**

Raising the Womens Championship on her way out through the curtain, GAIL KIM wears a summer dress, slapping hands with fans on the way down the aisle, whilst Beth watches from the ring with a scowl at the woman she believes is holding the title SHE should be wearing.

    Jim Ross:
There may not be a more fighting champion in ALL the WWE, Coach. Ever since winning that championship in February, Gail Kim has faced all comers and has seen off every threat to that title.

    The Coach:
Until now. She cant shake off Beth Phoenix. And sure, Gail hasn’t backed down from the Glamazon, but you don’t win prizes for being brave.

Jim Ross: Not that you’d know anything about that, Coach.

Gail climbs into the ring, taking her seat across from Beth, eyeing the challenger to her title, before a fairly long, awkward wait, with attentions turning to the stage …

    **X AMOUNT OF WORDS**

Sheepishly walking through the curtain, MICKIE JAMES is joined by the Doctor that was interviewed on Raw last week, Dr. Kronenberg. Mickie looks pensive and nervous, checking back at the Doctor for reassurances as she makes her way down the aisle, not reacting to the fans hanging over the guard rail.

    Jim Ross:
I’ve gotta be honest folks - I’m not comfortable with this situation at all. This young woman shouldn’t be here in my humble opinion.

The Coach: You know what you can do with your opinion, J.R. It’s okay to be an armchair Quarterback - Ranjin Singh had to find a person willing to referee this match, and he looked for the craziest woman he could find!! Lets face it - to stand between Gail Kim and Beth Phoenix?? You’ve gotta be nuts!!

Jim Ross: Someone cut this mans mic? Please.

Mickie finally makes her way into the ring, with Ventura holding the ropes open for her to enter. Once inside, Mickie almost tries to hide away in the corner, not making eye contact with either of Gail Kim or Beth Phoenix.
Ventura sets the contract back down on the table, taking control of the situation…

    Jesse Ventura:
Okay - so, first things first, I want the challenger signing first. Beth??

Beth takes a glance over the contract, tapping her fingers on the table anxiously, before getting set to sign … but, then, she looks up, and picks up her microphone, wanting to get something off her chest.

    Beth Phoenix:
I just want to say, that this entire situation … STINKS!!!

Phoenix swivels in her chair, and points at the sheepish Mickie in the corner of the ring.

    Beth Phoenix:
We don’t need her screwing things up!! Look at her!! She’s not fit to officiate a spelling bee - let alone a championship match!! You cant let this happen!!

Ventura puts a hand up, trying to calm Beth, before giving his response.

    Jesse Ventura:
Honestly?? I don’t like it myself. But the fans were promised this - so despite my own concerns and against my own better judgment - I’m letting this happen. So you can either accept the situation - or we can find a new challenger for the Womens Championship - and there’s no shortage of willing bodies back there that would gladly take that opportunity.

Ventura points to the stage, and makes a reach for the contract - but Beth quickly picks it up, keeping it from the Commissioner.

    Beth Phoenix:
Oh no. I’m not backing out of this.

Aggressively, Phoenix puts pen to paper, and slams the pen down when done, before looking at Ventura.

    Beth Phoenix:
    Satisfied??

Ventura glances over at the contract, nodding.

    Jesse Ventura:
    Looks good to me.

    Beth Phoenix:
Good. (Looking at Gail across the table) Now - YOU - you better shine that belt up. And as for you …

Beth stands up, walking toward Mickie - with Dr. Kronenberg and Ventura looking to keep her away from the special guest referee. Being restrained, Beth points through both men at James.

    Beth Phoenix:
You better not screw this up for me at Vengeance - freak.

As she backs away, Beth then has a go at the Doctor too.

    Beth Phoenix:
And you better get that in her head too.

Meanwhile, Gail shakes her head from the table, watching Beth losing her cool. As the challenger takes her seat again, telling Ventura “I‘m fine”, as she sits, Gail then makes sure she has Phoenix attention.

    Gail Kim:
I don’t need you to force me to sign this, Beth. Most other women might be in fear of you - but in case you haven’t noticed; I’m not.

Pop. Gail points at her title belt - sat upright on the table.

    Gail Kim:
I’ve already put this title on the line - twice - and gone toe to toe with you. I’m as frustrated as you are that we couldn’t settle this already - and this arrangement doesn’t suit me either. Trust me.

The champion then points at Beth.

    Gail Kim:
But unlike you - I’m not gonna cry about it.

Gail signs contract, sliding the clipboard to Ventura. Again, the Commissioner has a look over, and nods once he’s satisfied.

    Jesse Ventura:
That’s champion and challenger signed and sealed. So, all we need now … is yours, Miss James.

Ventura then motions to Dr. Kronenberg, who collects the contract. He brings it to Mickie, with the fans growing in voice. Mickie takes a look around the arena, trying to read the reactions from the fans.

Her Doctor seemingly offers her some reassurances, telling her she can change her mind if she wants. Mickie anxiously looks around, with Gail and Beth both watching from the table … with Mickie eventually plucking up the courage to sign the contract.

The fans pop, as the Doctor brings the contract back to Ventura. Jesse stands up, holding the contract for all to see.

    Jesse Ventura:
Well - there ya have it ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a Womens Title match at Vengeance. Gail Kim, will defend that championship against Beth Phoenix … and Mickie James will serve as the guest referee. Now, that’ll be all.

Beth Phoenix: I’m not done yet.

The fans ‘Ohhh’ with Beth speaking over the Commissioner, who himself raises an eyebrow at her attitude, as Phoenix stands up, taking a step toward Mickie.

    Beth Phoenix:
Mickie?? All you need to do at Vengeance, is count; one, two, three. Understand?? That’s all I want you to do. Don’t do anything else.

Gail Kim: That’s all I want too. But leave her, Beth.

Phoenix ignores Gails plea, and continues to address Mickie, with Mickie avoiding eye contact.

Beth Phoenix: And hey, I want you know … that if I leave Vengeance as champion, I’ll be more than happy to give you a shot.

    Gail stands up.

Gail Kim: Come on - that’s enough.

Jesse Ventura: I agree. Beth, you’re overstepping the mark here.

The champion now moves toward Mickie, trying to talk some sense.

Gail Kim: Mickie, don’t listen to her. Just call the match as you see it. Like we said a minute ago - all you need to do is count - one, two, three. Okay??

    Beth Phoenix:
But remember, Mickie - I’ll give you a shot at winning back the title … she wont.

Gail shoves Beth after that comment, with Ventura quickly acting, getting between both women.

Jesse Ventura: All right - someone cut these mics. I’ve heard enough!!

Ventura stands between Beth and Gail, with Beth telling the champion to “do it again” in regards to pushing her, whilst Mickie James is seen whispering to her Doctor, with him nodding, and proceeding to lead her from the ring.

The Commissioner forces Beth back, and then holds the ropes open for Mickie James again, talking off mic with Dr. Kronenberg as Mickie departs the ring, pacing quickly up the ramp, shying away from the outstretched arms of the fans.

Meanwhile, Beth Phoenix has picked up the clipboard … and SMACKS Gail from behind with it - to the back of the champions skull!!!!!

Gail takes a tumble onto the mat, holding the back of her head, as Ventura scolds the challenger - with Beth raising her hands innocently, but with a smirk on her face, as she steps over Gail Kim, and leaves the ring.
Beth backs up the ramp, with Gail recovering in the ring, still holding the back of her head, but seething at the cheap shot from Beth…

~~ KING OF THE RING; CROWNING MOMENT ~~
‘THE NEXT BIG THING’ BROCK LESNAR - 2002

Coming into the WWE just three months earlier, Brock Lesnar, under the guidance of Paul Heyman, came into the tournament undefeated, and would tear through the field, continuing what would become the most remarkable rise to glory in WWE history, defeating Rob Van Dam in the final - earning a shot at the WWE Champion at Summerslam. And the rest was history.

~ THE 2008 KING OF THE RING TOURNAMENT ~

!! LIVE ON SATURDAY NIGHTS MAIN EVENT ON NBC !!
    JUNE 21 2008 | O2 ARENA, LONDON, ENGLAND
    ***

    Back to ringside.

Jim Ross: Another example of what winning the King of the Ring can do for careers. Tonight, Brent Albright begins his quest to repeat history and win back to back King of the Ring tournaments. What a main event that promises to be - but now, as we promised earlier, we’re about to be joined live, via satellite, by none other than the former two time World Heavyweight Champion, Christian - who unfortunately isn’t here tonight, as he has been sequestered on an international promotional tour in Asia. Christian??

On the titan tron, CHRISTIAN is shown, to a good pop from the fans in the arena.

    Christian: I’m here, J.R.

Jim Ross: Christian, thank you for joining us as this time. I know you’d have much rather be here in person…

    Christian nods in agreement.

Christian: That’s right, J.R, I’m calling from the future - it’s early in the afternoon on Tuesday right now in Tokyo. Sorry I cant be there with all my Peeps in Boise Idaho - but even if it’s only via satellite, I still had to be on Raw.

There’s a cheap pop from the fans for the mention of Boise.

    Jim Ross:
Well, you will be here next week, and indeed, next Monday we’ll be only six days away from the Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship at Vengeance - a first for you, and indeed, everyone involved in the match, barring Garrison Cade. How does it feel to be back in the mix for the World Title after a rough couple of months by your standards.

    Christian:
Well, obviously, an Elimination Chamber match isn’t ideal. I - just like everyone else I guess - would much rather a one on one shot at the belt. It’s something I’ve never experienced before - but I’ve heard plenty of horror stories about the Chamber … and what it does to your body.

    Christian pauses for a moment.

    Christian:
That said, I’ve never been one to duck a challenge, or back out of putting my body in harms way. You’re talking to a guy that’s been in about a dozen ladder matches, J.R. But, you’re asking me how it feels to be back in the mix?? It’s where I should be. It’s familiar. It’s what I’m used to. And it’s something Rey, Albright, Cade and Shelton aren’t used to - which puts me at a big advantage right outta the gate.

    Jim Ross:
You mentioned there about being in a number of ladder matches - matches that are extremely high risk. But this Chamber is a first in your career. Have you had much time to prepare, or indeed, can you prepare for such a demonic match??

    Christian:
You can prepare, J.R - but only to a certain extent. I mean, I’m prepared to go through hell on earth. I’m prepared for my bones to bounce off steel and for my face to get mashed up on chains. Chances are I’m gonna shed some blood, but that’s a small price to pay for what’s at stake. I know there’ll be nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide - which suits me fine, because that means it’ll be damn near impossible for John Cena to avoid me inside that Chamber. You wanna talk about preparations - let me tell ya, J.R - I’m preparing to beat the holy hell outta John Cena on June 15.

There’s a pop from the fans in the arena for the threat of violence on Cena. J.R though looks to get things back on track.

    Jim Ross:
But surely, first and foremost, your main objective will be to walk out of the Elimination Chamber - out of Vengeance - as World Champion??

    Christian nods.

    Christian:
Absolutely. The title always comes first. But the beauty of this ugly creation is that I don’t need to make any compromise. I’m gonna have my cake and eat it come Vengeance. There’s gonna be six guys locked inside hell on earth, and I’m gonna see to it that I’m the one that puts an end to John Cenas reign as World Champion, before leaving that Chamber with the title over my shoulder for the third time.

He holds up three fingers to indicate the title wins.

    Jim Ross:
Last week, you, Shelton Benjamin and Rey Mysterio all appeared to have struck a common bond and the three of you all had a hand in bringing down Garrison Cade. Could we see the three of you on the same page again at Vengeance if the opportunity occurs??

Christian smirks at that suggestion, but shakes his head.

    Christian:
Honestly?? I don’t think so. But, that said, I wouldn’t rule out being on the same page as anybody for a moment if the opportunity arose - apart from Cena - if it meant cutting down the field. That would be the smart move. I just don’t see it happening with the guys involved in this Chamber. I’ve got a tonne of respect for both Shelton Benjamin and Rey Mysterio - but let’s not get anything mixed up - they’re standing between me and the World title. All respect is out the window right now, and I’m sure the feeling is mutual … at least, it should be, if Shelton and Rey are serious about wanting to be champion.

    Jim Ross:
Only you and Cena in this match have been World Champion before. It’s a huge opportunity for the other four men in the match; Albright, Mysterio, Benjamin and Cade. Given the surroundings they’ll have to deal with-

Given the time delay in the feed, Christian speaks over J.R, cutting him off for a comment in the previous sentence.

    Christian:
Huge opportunity for everyone, J.R. Sorry to cut you off there - but it’s not just a huge opportunity for those other four guys. Every shot at the World Title is a huge opportunity whether you’ve been champion once, twice, or half a dozen times. I’ll let you into a little secret - until I was World Champion … I never truly realized how much I wanted it. And once I was champion, then I realized how much I needed to be champion. And to have that title taken from you - it hurts way more than any failure before being champion. And right now, I need it. I need that title more than words can describe.

Christian takes a moment before continuing on.

    Christian:
So I don’t care what the others have to say. They don’t realize how much it truly means to be champion. And if they think that’ll change at Vengeance - they’ve got another thing coming. One by one, like dominos, they’re all gonna fall. Whether they’re not strong enough physicallymentally … hell, even if it’s spiritually, one way or another, I’m running through all five men that stand between me and being the three time World Heavyweight Champion. And if ya didn’t know?? Now-

Suddenly, the connection is lost. The fans in the arena boo, as the camera cuts back to J.R at ringside, somewhat flustered by the technical hiccup.

    Jim Ross:
Well, ladies and gentlemen, it appears we’ve lost contact with Christian. Modern technology I guess-

Whilst J.R is talking, the camera now cuts to truck, where we see JOHN CENA bullying the workers in the truck…

… And it becomes apparent that the World Champion has ordered the feed be cut, as he turns to face the camera, with the fans booing loudly in the arena.

    John Cena:
See … just like (snaps his fingers) that … I can cut the lights out on Christian. He can talk the big game halfway around the world. He talked the big talk before WrestleMania from the comfort of his own home … then crumbled when it was go-time. When it comes time for show and tell … the big talker doesn’t show, and Captain Charisma has only one story to tell; and that’s a good ‘ol fashioned sob story.

The Man In Black shakes his head.

    John Cena:
Christian - you’re beat already, jackass. You’re comin to the Elimination Chamber to take ME out??

Cena loudly lets out a “HA!”

    John Cena:
You tried that before. Failed. Big time. Remember?? You couldn’t beat me in a fight when it was just the ring you had to deal with. You honestly think I aint gonna mangle your sorry ass when we’re surrounded by miles of chains and tonnes of steel?? If you aint thinking that - you gotta be outta your mind.

He prods his finger into his own chest.

    John Cena:
I THRIVE in an environment like an Elimination Chamber.

Cena then points at the camera.

    John Cena:
The five of you posers together aint gonna be able to put me down. But none of ya could even stick together long enough to try anyway. That’d be the smart thing to do. But you, Christian?? You’re hell bent on coming after me on your own - bad move. Stupid move. But it don’t seem like you can learn your lesson. So maybe at Vengeance I’ll have to cut the power on you for good.

The Champ affords himself a wry smile.

    John Cena:
And hey, given the environment we gonna be sharing at Vengeance?? That seems pretty damn likely. And if ya didn’t know??

Now with a full on smile, Cena completes Christians own catchphrase.

    John Cena:
    … Now ya know.

    The camera fades out…

    Back to ringside…

The Coach: Strong words from a strong man, J.R. That’s how a champ carries himself!!

Jim Ross: Not where I come from. And he may look like a man without a care in the world, but John Cena is headed to that Elimination Chamber with plenty of trepidations. He’s gonna have five men gunning for him - he’ll have a huge target painted on his chest. It wont be an easy nights work for The Champ in thirteen days.

The Coach: I don’t think Cena is expecting it to be easy. But he IS expecting victory. That’s the type of standards the man has set himself. That’s why he’s been champion for over six months.

Jim Ross: It may not be for much longer once Vengeance rolls around. And what we know is that next week, ALL six men involved in the Elimination Chamber WILL be on Raw. But Brent Albright may just have his focus diverted - should he successfully get by Paul London momentarily in the King of the Ring tournament. Next week, all four of the second round match ups on the Raw side of the tournament will take place - we know three of those matches already-

The Coach: CM Punk versus Christopher Daniels, William Regal versus Doug Williams and Kid Kash versus Nick Nemeth.

Jim Ross: Plus, of course, either Paul London or the 2007 King of the Ring Brent Albright will take on Cody Rhodes. By this time next week, we’ll know which four men from Raw will make up the Quarter Finals of the King of the Ring tournament.

    The Coach:
And, hey, let’s not forget; on MY show next week - the Playas Club, baby boy - I’ve got Brock Lesnar and Shawn Michaels, six days out from the sequel to the WrestleMania Instant Classic!! It’s gonna be big, J.R!!

    **STAY IN SHADOW**

PAUL LONDON hit’s the stage with plenty of energy and excitement, kicking off his third and FINAL shot at the King of the Ring tournament.

    Jim Ross:
Indeed, it’ll be a huge night on Raw next Monday - but we’ve still got our main event tonight!!! And think of the history here Coach - thirteen months ago at Judgment Day, Paul London ended Brent Albrights seven month reign as United States Champion. A month later, Brent Albright eliminated Paul London in the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament he would go on to win.

The Coach: Since then, Albright has gone from strength to strength - he eliminated London in their Survivor Series match last November, he eliminated London from the Royal Rumble in January, and he beat London to the Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania. Albright has proven repeatedly that he’s superior to London - despite the facts, people continue to claim this is a “rivalry.” It’s not.

Jim Ross: Paul London might just disagree with that assessment, Coach.

The Coach: He would. But he’s wrong. You cant argue with facts, old timer. Even you know that.

London reaches the ring, climbing the ropes and gesturing to the fans, looking pumped up, as he prepares to renew hostilities with his old rival…

    Jim Ross:
    And, one more time, lets remind ourselves of the rules and regulations;

    ***
~ KING OF THE RING TOURNAMENT RULES ~

    1ST & 2ND ROUND MATCHES; 15min. Time Limit
    QUARTER FINALS; 20min. Time Limit
    SEMI FINALS; 30min. Time Limit
    FINAL; 60min. Time Limit

    Disqualifications and Count Outs apply.

In the event of a Double count-out, double disqualification or time limit draw - BOTH competitors will be eliminated from the tournament. Should this occur, the scheduled opponent for the following round will advance via a Bye.

Should a competitor be forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injury, his opponent will receive a bye.

NO managers, valets, team mates or friends are permitted at ringside during a tournament match.
    ***

Jim Ross: You might want to keep an eye on the clock for this one, folks. That fifteen minute time limit could be a detriment to both men here; in their previous meetings they’ve gone twenty minutes minimum. Should they fail to settle this contest in that fifteen minute timeframe, BOTH men will be eliminated from the tournament.

The Coach: What a crying shame that’d be - to lose his crown on a technicality!!

Jim Ross: Rules are rules, Coach - they apply to all thirty two men.

    **MEET YOUR MASTER**

Carrying the Money in the Bank briefcase he won at WrestleMania, BRENT ALBRIGHT marches down the aisle, gearing up to do what NO ONE has ever done before in the modern era; successfully RETAIN the King of the Ring crown.

    Jim Ross:
Well, we are just moments away, folks. Brent Albright and Paul London, one on one - in the King of the Ring tournament - a match could would be a worthy FINAL … but it’s in the opening round. And it’s NEXT!!!

    Commercial Break

Main Event | KING OF THE RING TOURNAMENT | OPENING ROUND:
Paul London vs. ‘2007 King of the Ring’ Brent Albright
With just a fifteen minute time limit in this opening round, both men are aware of their previous matches going much longer - so they both have a sense of urgency, leading to a lot of pinning combinations right out of the gate from both men. Inevitably, there’s a stalemate, with both men receiving appreciation from the fans. London then lunges at Albright- not wanting to waste any time - with Albright taking him over into a side headlock. London escapes with his legs, and bounces to his feet, reeling off successive arm drags - then, as he attempts a third, Albright counters, turning it into a hip toss - AND TRIES TO APPLY THE CROWBAR - BUT LONDON WRIGGLES FREE!!!

Instantly, London grabs the ropes after escaping, with Albright smirking, mouthing to London “almost got ya.” With a sense of urgency - neither man has time to spare with the clock ticking down - London gets up, locking horns with Albright, surprising the defending King with a wristlock. Albright struggles in the hold momentarily before escaping with a firemans carry. London nips up, rocking the incoming Albright with a set of stiff forearms, then looks to shoot Brent off the ropes - reversed by Albright - catching London on the return, looking for a Belly to Belly - LONDON ROLLS THROUGH - bouncing off the ropes … BUT GETS WIPED OUT WITH A RUNNING FOREARM SMASH FROM MR. MONEY IN THE BANK!!!!!

Albright scores a two only for the stiff forearm, and momentarily shows some frustration, before roughing London up in the corner. The King of the Ring shoots London across to the opposite corner, but London leaps to the middle buckle, splashing back at Albright - but the King of the Ring had the move scouted, and side steps out of Londons path, with the Golden Boy crashing onto the mat!! Albright quickly scoops London up off the mat, wanting a Half Nelson Suplex - ROLL THROUGH BY LONDON - 1...2...NO!!! Albright escapes, bouncing up, but is caught with a kick by London … and London follows that with an OVERHEAD KICK!!!!!

    {/OVERRUN}

The kick forces Albright to stumble THROUGH the ropes, out of the ring … AND LONDON TOPES ONTO THE DEFENDING KING ON THE OUTSIDE!!!!! The fans react with a big pop for London taking a big risk, and the Golden Boy gets back to his feet on the floor, letting out a guttural roar, before picking Albright back up, rolling the King back inside - with J.R commending Londons fighting spirit, stating he could’ve tried to win the match by count out, but wants to beat Albright “the right way.” London scales the ropes, waiting as Albright struggles to his feet - coming off with a missile dropkick - SWATTED AWAY BY ALBRIGHT!!!!! And Albright quickly follows up - HALF NELSON SUPLEX TO LONDON!!!!! 1...2...KICK OUT!!!!!

Albright is livid, arguing the count with the referee, before getting back to work on London - again, remembering that time is of the essence - and proceeds to drop three successive elbows on his long time foe, hooking the leg again, 1...2...NO!!! Slapping the mat, Albright struggles to contain his anger, but channels it into punishing London further, charging London into the corner, driving the wind out of the Golden Boy with successive knees to the gut. Albright shoots London across the ring - HARD - into the corner, and meets him as he bounces back out - BELLY TO BELLY!!! 1...2...KICK OUT AGAIN!!! Albright shakes his head once more, backing London up into the corner, pummelling him with right hands, before being backed up by the referee. Brent argues with the official, before coming back to London … and London fights back!!!

London fights out of the corner with stiff forearms to Albright, rocking Mr. Money in the Bank - but Albright snuffs out the comeback, grabbing London, and HEAD BUTTS his rival!!! The head butt sends London down to a knee, allowing Albright to bounce off the ropes, coming back at London - but London avoids a running boot, then jumps up, catching Albright with a DROPSAULT!!! Then a STANDING Moonsault!!! 1...2...NO!!! Albright looks to get back to his feet, with London swarming him with rights and left, before taking off on the ropes - coming back at Brent, but gets side stepped, with Albright sending London over the top - London hangs on!!! But, before London can ‘skin the cat’ … Albright delivers his 6-1-KNEE - with London unable to block, and crumbles to the floor!!!

The 2007 King quickly follows out, and scoops London up with ease - T-BONE SUPLEX ON THE FLOOR!!!!! Albright wipes his hands, as if to indicate that it’s game over, before rolling Londons lifeless body back into the ring, making the cover, 1...2...NO!!! Instantly, Albright cinches in a headlock on London, asking the referee how long he has left - clearly wary about the time limit - and then rams London into the corner. Albright hoists his rival up, onto the top rope, looking for a SUPERPLEX - but London FIGHTS BACK!!!! The Golden Boy nails Albright with more forearms, then head butts of his own, finally sending Albright to the mat!!! London rises … 450 SPLASH … NO ONE HOME!!!!!!! Albright rolls out of danger … then scoops London up … ACE IN THE HOLE!!!!!

Albright smiles, believing it’s over, before looking to go for a cover … only to find that London has rolled to the floor after impact!!! The Golden Boy rolls to the outside, with the reigning King livid at London avoiding a count after the devastating Ace in the Hole. Mr. Money in the Bank stands up, looking out at London on the floor, before shaping up to follow him out … then he pauses, and smiles … then chuckles, before stepping BACK in the ring, barking at Mike Chioda to count London out!!! On commentary, The Coach calls it a genius move from Albright - something London could’ve done earlier, but didn’t. Brent demands Chioda count quicker, as London slowly recovers on the floor, with the fans willing the Golden Boy on … as he JUST beats the count at NINE!!!!!

But as London rolls in … ALBRIGHT INSTANTLY APPLIES THE CROWBAR!!!! It’s just gone from bad to WORSE for London!!!!! He’s trapped, wildly trying to struggle free to no avail … then tries to turn over, looking to score some variation of a roll up … BUT ALBRIGHT IS TOO STRONG … rolling right through … AND CLENCHES IN TIGHTER!!! London still fights it, stuck in the middle of the ring, desperately clawing his way towards the ropes, BUT BRENT REFUSES TO LET HIM GET AWAY!!!! J.R tells the audience there’s little over TWO minutes left on the time limit … as Paul London has his hand raised … contemplating quitting momentarily … BUT REFUSES TO TAP OUT!!!

London digs down AGAIN … and surges forward … reaching out … with the fans begging for him to reach … AND HE DOES!!!!!!!!!! Albright nearly gets himself disqualified - breaking at the count of four from Chioda - and proceeds to stomp the arm of London at the ropes, before turning away, looking through the ropes to ask how long is left, before the time keeper holds up two fingers, indicating two minutes. Albright panics, running his fingers through his hair, worried that the time limit is about to bring an end to his reign as King. He paces around the ring, before coming for London on the mat - but London stuns the King of the Ring with a kip up HEADSCISSORS!!! London then follows up, scoring with an ENZIGURI!!! Cover, 1...2...NO!!!

London cant believe it!!! J.R bellows that there’s less than 90 SECONDS remaining in the match, and London has to push back to his feet, looking for any way to win the match now, trapping Albright with an small package - 1...2...NO!!! Albright is up, with London taking off the ropes - Sunset Flip … ALBRIGHT DROPS DOWN PINNING LONDON … 1...2...NO!!! London survives, but is taken over by Brent, Oklahoma Roll … 1...2...NO!!! Albright school boys London - GRABBING THE TIGHTS - 1...2...SPOTTED BY THE REFEREE!!! Chioda stops the count, with Albright protesting his innocence, before turning around - INTO A HEEL KICK FROM LONDON … and without a second to spare, London jumps to the top rope … instantly flying with the 450 SPLASH!!!!!!!!! London covers … 1...2...3!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Winner: Paul London @ 14:52
    *ADVANCES TO ROUND OF SIXTEEN*

Jim Ross: BRENT ALBRIGHTS REIGN AS KING - IS OVER!!!!!! THERE WILL BE A NEW KING IN TOWN ON JUNE 21 IN LONDON - AND IT MIGHT JUST BE PAUL LONDON!!!!! With barely a second to spare, The Golden Boy comes up trumps to knock off his old rival - we’re now guaranteed a new King of the Ring in 2008!!! Revenge for Paul London after Brent Albright ended his dreams of glory one year ago!!!

The Coach: This isn’t right for Albright!! He should’ve been given privileges as the returning King!! That time limit crap just screwed Albright over!!!

Jim Ross: He had fifteen minutes - just like Paul London did, Coach. And London found a way to get the job done … and we’re hearing there was only EIGHT seconds left in this match before London got the job done!!! We nearly saw BOTH men go out.

London has his arm raised, before celebrating his win by scaling the ropes and saluting the fans. Meanwhile, Albright is laid out on the mat, still selling the 450 Splash moments ago.

Jim Ross: And now, there’s little time for London to rest and recuperate - he has to go at it again a week from tonight; Paul London takes on Cody Rhodes for a place in the Quarter-Finals!!!

The Coach: This isn’t happening!!! This cant be over for Albright - not yet!!

The Golden Boy proceeds to each turnbuckle, enjoying his victory, getting one over on Albright after a year of constantly coming up second best to the 2007 King … whilst Albright himself rolls onto the floor, devastated to have been eliminated in round one, ending his reign as King.

    Jim Ross: Next week, all four second round matches on the Raw side of the bracket will take place - as you can see now;

    Nick Nemeth vs. Nick Dinsmore

    Charlie Haas vs. Christopher Daniels
    CM Punk vs. Colt Cabana
    William Regal vs. Ken Doane
    Doug Williams vs. Harry Smith
    Cody Rhodes vs. Tyson Kidd

I want a moment of silence for the departing King, J.R!! Please!! This is a rough moment for King Albrights legions of royal subjects!!!

Jim Ross: The 2007 King of the Rings reign is officially DEAD-

The Coach: Long live the King!!

Jim Ross: A NEW King of the Ring, Coach. Long live the NEXT King of the Ring!!!

The show ends on Paul London STILL celebrating in the ring, with Brent Albright stumbling up the ramp - being handed his Money in the Bank briefcase - looking back at his conqueror…

Goldust & William Regal - still without a team name - defeat a pair of local jobbers @ 04:02 when Goldust scores the pin after the Curtain Call. After the match though, Regal and Goldust are attacked on the ramp by the New Standard!!!

Cody Rhodes and Ken Doane beat Regal and Goldust down, continuing their simmering rivalry, with the New Standard BOTH hitting CROSS RHODES to Regal and Goldust respectively at the top of the stage.

As officials tend to Goldust and Regal, Striker and Grisham both wonder if Regal will be 100% for his second round King of the Ring match on Raw next week against his fellow Englishman; Doug Williams
    .

Backstage, Hardcore Holly is shown, reading down the match list for tonight - tearing the sheet off the wall, finding out he doesn’t have a match tonight. Holly rips up the sheet, FURIOUS that he doesn’t have a match on the show tonight.

Next up, Burchill defeats Chuck Palumbo @ 04:30 with the Curb Stomp, getting himself a rare win.

Then, in the Superstars main event, Los Latinos bounce back to winning ways, defeating The Jacksons in a fast paced match @ 08:57. The finish comes with Chavo Guerrero hitting the GORY BOMB for the 1...2...3 on Nick Jackson, with Vickie spending the match on commentary - declaring in the aftermath that she wants her men to get another title shot off the back of the win tonight.

After the match, Vickie Guerrero joins Chavo and Super Crazy in the ring, raising their hands in victory, closing the show.

!! NEW MATCH MADE OFFICIAL FOR WWE VENGEANCE !!

Straight from the office of Commissioner Ventura, wwe.com have been notified that the INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP will be defended at Vengeance. Despite CM PUNK retaining his title on Raw this past Monday, Jesse Ventura is keen for the title to be defended on the upcoming Raw exclusive Pay Per View. And, following his last gasp victory over the outgoing King of the Ring, Brent Albright, PAUL LONDON has been named as the challenger for the title. Since arriving on Raw, Paul London has been caught in CM Punks crosshairs, with the two men coming to blows on a number of occasions, with CM Punk costing London TWO separate matches with interference. Now, at Vengeance, London and Punk will look to settle their differences, with the Intercontinental Title at stake.

    Re: Being The Booker

You’ve been so good with feedback towards me as of late and I’ve been so bad back, I’m really sorry. Been tremendously busy and barely even had time to write or post my own stuff. I have read Smackdown and Raw but I just don’t have the time at the moment to drop proper feedback. I will say SD stand outs were Kendrick/Edge, The Fight Factory with Melina and Jericho/RVD promo.

As for Raw, an awesome show. Every single match was DAMN important, and I loved Paul London finally getting one over on Albright again. As always, awesome promo work on this show as well, with Cena/Ventura having a fun segment, and Beth trying to get Mickie on side being great. Really intrigued to see what Mickie does heading into Vengeance.

Now onto Superstars, Goldust and Regal looking strong is good stuff, as they need to be taken seriously. The attack afterwards from the New Standard is fine enough, really just continuing the bad blood between the two teams.

Holly being mad at not having a match is pretty random… Not sure where this is going…

Do something with Burchill damn it. And this win is a good start!

Michelle McCool wrestling? Awesome. Surprised to not see more follow up with her AMW break up to be honest.

Los Latinos bouncing back is a fine way to end the show.

As usual, Superstars has done what it needed to in regards to putting over talent. Again, poor excuse for feedback focusing on Superstars instead of the main shows, but I really just don’t have time. Also, please bring back KENNEDY!

Punk/London official for Vengeance is epic as well. Vengeance card looks unreal so far. I’ll try to keep an eye out for and leave something much better for SD. Keep up the fantastic work though, Wolfy.

    Smackdown Re: Being The Booker

Friday Night Smackdown | June 6 2008 | Portland OR

In a vignette with the caption ‘Earlier Tonight’ - The Interim GM The Brian Kendrick is informed that Edge HASN’T been cleared to compete tonight, with the doctor handing Kendrick his report.

Kendrick doesn’t even read the report, thanking the Doctor … before he puts the report in the bin!!! Kendrick summons Josh Mathews to tell Edge he’s facing Finlay TONIGHT - in a Belfast Brawl!!! Kendrick smirks, as the vignette fades to black…

    *ALL NEW*
    Opening Video
*Video consists ONLY of clips of The Brian Kendrick in action, and posing*

    PYRO

Joey Styles and Jerry Lawler don’t even get to open the show before CHRIS JERICHO makes his way out in an expensive suit, carrying the MITB briefcase he won at Judgment Day - but Jericho is far from happy tonight.

Jericho talks about RVD and his declaration last week that he would NEVER allow Jericho to cash in the briefcase. He calls Van Dam a “vindictive sore loser”, before demanding that RVD be released from the WWE, claiming that Van Dam is more interested in causing trouble for others than trying to further his own career.

That leads to ROB VAN DAM hitting the stage, telling Jericho that if he wants RVD gone, Jericho should “do it yourself - if you‘ve got the balls!!!” Jericho shoots back that he shouldn’t have to - stating that the WWE should cut a loser like RVD loose, calling him a financial drain on the company for such little return.

RVD laughs off the suggestion, playing to the fans a little, asking if they think RVD driving a chair into Jerichos face would be value for money - getting obvious cheers from the fans. Van Dam starts to walk down the aisle, leading to an appearance from the interim GM (with only a week left now as GM) THE BRIAN KENDRICK.

Kendrick tells Jericho he has thought over his request from last week - and again states that he agrees with the assessment of Jericho; “one of you two has to go.” Kendrick goes on, letting Jericho and RVD know that both Raw and Smackdown will have a showcase match at Saturday Nights Main Event between King of the Ring matches … and declares that Jericho and Van Dam will settle their differences “once and for all” at that event.
    “INSIDE A STEEL CAGE!!!”

The fans pop for the announcement from Kendrick, and RVD nods in agreement … but Jericho isn’t so hot on the idea. And with Kendrick smiling, the GM really puts the cat amongst the pigeons with his next line …

“AND THE LOSER WILL LEAVE THE WWE!!!”

The announcement sends shockwaves around the Rose Garden, with Styles and Lawler both selling the enormity of the match immediately … with Kendrick following up that there wont be a lifeline for the loser to sign on Raw - it truly is loser leaves the WWE.

Jericho is clearly regretting his request now, and is apoplectic in the ring, slapping his briefcase, shouting that “this isn’t fair!! I‘m Mister Money in the Bank DAMN IT!!! I cant be fired!!!!!” But it appears the decision is final - either Jericho or RVD will be GONE come Saturday Nights Main Event in a few weeks time.

On commentary, Styles believes Kendrick wants Jericho gone - calling back to TBK eyeing the briefcase last week, and speculates that Kendrick is thinking ahead to his title match next week - and doesn’t want the spectre of Money in the Bank hanging over him should Kendrick win the title…

    COMMERCIAL BREAK

In the opening King of the Ring tournament match of the night, DAMIEN SANDOW defeats M.V.P, causing something of a shock with his win, eliminating the highly fancied Montel Vontavious Porter from the tournament @ 09:29, reversing a victory roll, but HOOKED the tights, cheating his way into the second round of the 2008 King of the Ring tournament.

After the match, MVP tries to argue the count with the referee to no avail - whilst Sandow quickly escapes the ring, celebrating up the ramp, progressing to face either Kurt Angle or Johnny Nitro - with the pair meeting later tonight in a highly anticipated main event.

    COMMERCIAL BREAK

Following the break, CHRIS JERICHO is arguing with THE BRIAN KENDRICK about his earlier announcement, telling the GM that “surely I cant be fired - I‘m Mister Money in the Bank!!!” With a smug grin, Kendrick tells Jericho he CAN - and he even cleared the match with the Board of Directors, looking happy to tell Jericho that after all he went through, “that briefcase could be worthless.”

TYSON TOMKO enters the office in a hurry, telling Kendrick in a hushed tone; “Uhh, Triple H just arrived.” Once told that, Kendrick begins to ignore Jerichos argument, distracted by the arrival of a potential thorn in his side, not looking happy after he told The Game he could take the next few weeks off last week.

Elsewhere, the WWE Champion EDGE is sporting plenty of wounds from the troubles he’s been put through in recent weeks, getting taped up in the trainers room - as Joey Styles informs the audience that the Rated ‘R’ Superstar had to get seven stitches after The Brian Kendrick bloodied him on Smackdown last week - along with his other injuries he’s collected in the last few weeks.

In a quick squash match, MARK HENRY sees off DOMINO inside ninety seconds. Henry dominates from the opening bell, with Domino getting NO offence in, before being finished off with the WORLDS STRONGEST SLAM - continuing the debate over who is the most dominant monster on Smackdown; Henry or Umaga.

    COMMERCIAL BREAK

Following the commercial, THE BRIAN KENDRICK approaches TRIPLE H in the locker room, telling The Game; “I thought I told you to take the night off?? There‘s nothing planned for you here tonight.” Like last week, The Game tells Kendrick, “I do what I want.” With an air of superiority over Kendrick, Triple H mentions that he’s here to make sure Kendrick doesn’t step out of line as GM…

Back in the arena, THE GODS OF WAR make their way to the ring for a scheduled match - only to be ATTACKED on the aisle - BY THE HARDYS!!!!! Armed with LADDERS, Matt and Jeff take the fight to Batista and Lashley, wanting revenge for the unprovoked attack by the Gods of War last week on Smackdown!!

The Hardy Boys show no mercy, and show no fear of the dominant pair, blasting Lashley and the U.S Champion repeatedly with the ladders, taking the fight to the ring, knocking Lashley out of the ring with a double ladder shot, before a Twist of Fate and Swanton combo from the brothers to Batista - with The Animal laid on a ladder!!!!!

As Matt and Jeff celebrate, Steven Richards drags Batista from the ring, helping him shake the cobwebs loose on the floor - regrouping with Lashley too - with Richards deciding to take the high road for tonight, being taken completely by surprise by The Hardy Boys - who didn’t take last weeks attack lying down!!!

As he leaves with his Gods of War, Richards shouts to Matt and Jeff; “You‘ll regret this!! You WILL regret this!! NO ONE does this to the GODS OF WAR!!!” But for tonight, Matt and Jeff are triumphant, stunning Batista and Lashley … but the repercussions may prove to be severe…

    COMMERCIAL BREAK

Smackdown returns with NITRO preparing backstage, doing some extreme stretches as he gets ready to face Kurt Angle later in the biggest match of his career. MELINA tries to fire Nitro up for his opportunity, before walking off to let him finish up his warm up and get Nitro some water…

As she turns the corner, Melina walks into THE FIGHT FACTORY!! Elijah Burke and Wade Barrett pick up where they left off last week with Melina, looking to convince the MNM valet to dump the tag champions and link up with them, asking if she’s thought about it.

Again, Melina looks to give them the brush off - but Burke gets a little more aggressive, telling Melina the offer “wont last forever.” Before things turn ugly though, Nitro and Mercury turn up, resulting in a stand off between the WWE Tag Team Champions and their #1 Contenders. Melina calms the situation, getting her team to walk off with her - getting Nitro to focus on his match tonight instead.

    BRYAN DANIELSON
joins Joey Styles and Jerry Lawler at ringside, serving as a guest commentator for the upcoming Cruiserweight Title match. During the entrances, Danielson admits he’s angry that it isn’t him getting his rematch tonight, but he knows it would be “pointless trying to reason with Kendrick - plus, right now, I can focus solely on the King of the Ring tournament.”

In the Cruiserweight Championship match, EVAN BOURNE gets his long awaited title shot, with JAMIE NOBLE making his first defence since winning the belt at Judgment Day, ending both Danielsons six month reign and his undefeated streak in the process. Noble goes all-out heel during the match, doing whatever it takes to keep the title, whilst taking a few opportunities to goad Danielson while he wears Bourne down.

After a mid-match commercial, Bourne fights back, exciting the fans with his fast paced, high risk offence, and he nearly stuns Noble with some close near falls. But ultimately, he fails to take the title, with Noble stopping Bourne from hitting Air Bourne, throwing Bourne off the top to the floor, and then ends the match @ 11:34 with the TIGER BOMB to retain the title.

After the match, Noble brings the title to the outside, intentionally goading Bryan Danielson on commentary, telling the former champion he’ll never get NEAR the title again. To his credit, Danielson doesn’t rise to the bait, sitting back in his chair, with a smile, telling Noble; “Keep talking. We‘ll see.”

Noble is finally ushered away from ringside, calling Danielson a “coward”, but the former champion tells Styles and Lawler he can wait to get his hands on Noble - expecting to meet the current CW champ in the Quarter-Finals of the King of the Ring tournament. “Then we‘ll see how big a game Jamie talks.”

Backstage, we get some more THE BRIAN KENDRICK - this time, he’s on the phone in his office, talking to someone, inviting the stranger to Smackdown next week as his guest, telling the person on the other end of the line, “don’t worry about any of that - you‘ll be MY guest.” Kendrick goes on, promising the person “front row seats” for his crowning moment.

As Kendrick ends the call, FINLAY enters the room, telling the GM he’s refusing to wrestle Edge tonight, knowing the WWE Champion hasn’t been medically cleared to compete. In no uncertain terms, a very serious Kendrick tells Finlay he doesn’t have a choice in the matter - and he WILL fight Edge tonight.

“And if you don’t do as you‘ve been told - if you don’t give 100% out there tonight … you might just find yourself physically unable to resume your duties as General Manager in two weeks time.” Kendrick goes on, telling Finlay he wants to see Edge bleed later too. An angry Finlay departs the office - just as the HARDY BOYS enter.

Matt and Jeff tell Kendrick they want a piece of the Gods of War in a match, showing no fear of the men that conquered The Brothers of Destruction. Kendrick tells them that can be arranged, as Batista is “overdue” a U.S title defence … and decides to pit Matt and Jeff against EACH OTHER next week on Smackdown for a shot at Batista and the U.S Championship.

Back in the arena, **MEDAL** hits, and KURT ANGLE enters the arena, as he gets set to begin his assault on the 2008 King of the Ring tournament - eyeing it as his opportunity to get back in the mix for the WWE Championship.

    COMMERCIAL BREAK

With Damien Sandow watching on backstage, being due to face the winner, KURT ANGLE and JOHNNY NITRO put on a hellacious match up in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament. Angle controls early on, but maybe takes Nitro too lightly initially, with the tag champion soon finding his way into the match, and impresses everyone with his offence in his biggest singles opportunity to date. Nitro gives Angle all kinds of trouble, dragging Kurt into deep waters - something Angle clearly wasn’t expecting, with the match progressing over a mid match commercial.

The match ticks into the ten minute mark, with concerns now growing that both men may run out of time - with time limits of 15 minutes in the opening rounds of the tournament - as Angle gets more desperate, trying to pick the ankle at every opportunity, but it almost backfires spectacularly, as Nitro CRACKS Angle with an enziguri off an ankle lock attempt, before SCORING with STARSHIP PAIN!!!!! 1...2...ANGLE NEEDS THE ROPES TO SURVIVE!!!!! Nitro cant believe it, initially thinking he’d won, but after being informed of the foot on the ropes, Nitro drops to his knees.

Suddenly, Angle explodes - GRABBING THE ANKLE!!! Nitro though, makes it to the ropes, and after that, he escapes an ANGLE SLAM attempt - before NAILING Angle with a CHUCK KICK!!!!! 1...2...NO!!!! Nitro comes close again, and looks for it all with a SPLIT LEGGED MOONSAULT - NO!!!! Angle rolls away … THEN GRABS THE ANKLE!!!! Nitro does his best, but cant escape the hold, and after almost a minute trapped in the submission … Nitro can hold on no more, and he finally gives in, tapping out @ 14:31 to give Angle the victory - after an almighty scare.

Angle progresses to the Second Round of the King of the Ring tournament, but found it MUCH tougher than he initially expected after perhaps starting the match in second gear - but had to pull out ALL the stops to see off Nitro, with LESS than thirty seconds remaining in the match when he got the job done. Angle gives Nitro more rub, shaking the defeated tag team champions hand.

Meanwhile, Damien Sandow is seething backstage - being less than thirty seconds from a BYE into the Quarter Finals - but now, he meets Kurt Angle in the second round next week on Smackdown. On commentary, Styles suggests that Angle perhaps didn’t take the level of competition seriously enough before tonight - but that will have almost certainly changed after tonight. Now, Styles states, Angle will know he’ll need to be at his VERY best to win this tournament again.

After the break, Josh Mathews interviews R-TRUTH with Truth set to meet fellow newcomer, Ted DiBiase Jr next week in the second round of the King of the Ring tournament. Truth talks about wanting to go all the way in the tournament, and believes he’ll overcome DiBiase next week-
And as if on cue, both TED DIBIASE SENIOR AND JUNIOR arrive to crash the interview. Junior calls Truth stupid for thinking he can beat “Wrestling Royalty”, promising to “wipe the floor” with his opponent next week, “then, ironically, you can start wiping my floors for me.”. Then, as the Million Dollar Man steps forward to say his piece, Truth cuts him off.

Truth tells the Million Dollar Man to save his breath before he offers him a pay-off like he did Teddy Long and Mark Henry last week. Ted Sr. laughs off the remark, telling Truth he doesn’t need to pay him off, before clarifying that he paid off Henry last week to make his sons path a little more straightforward; “and next week is about as straightforward a challenge as it gets.”

The DiBiases walk off the set, with the Million Dollar Man tossing down a dollar at the feet of Truth, laughing as he and his son leave, with Truth shaking his head, picking the dollar up and scrunching it in his hand…

Back in the ring, THE CARIBBEAN CONNECTION get back to winning ways with a perfunctory victory @ 03:25 over resident jobbers, THE JAMES BOYS as Carlito gears up for his second round King of the Ring match next week against Jamie Noble, scoring the 1...2...3 off a Back Cracker in Paradise from the duo.

Kofi and Carlito have their arms raised in victory - but they’re back; LOS COLONS hit the ring, and jump the Caribbean Connection - tossing Kofi out of the ring in order to focus on beating down their own flesh and blood; Carlito.

Primo and Epico beat Carlito down, and both dropkick Kofi back off the apron, before delivering a DOUBLE Back Cracker on Carlito - leaving him laying - YET AGAIN!! Back at ringside, Joey Styles and Jerry Lawler hype up next weeks LIVE edition of Smackdown in Texas, which sees The Brian Kendrick challenge Edge for the WWE Championship, in addition to FOUR King of the Ring matches that will decide the Quarter Final line up … PLUS; Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy in a #1 Contender Match for the U.S Championship, AND an official contract signing for the loser leaves WWE match between Jericho and Van Dam. ALSO - just added, following the elimination of Nitro from the King of the Ring tournament, MNM will defend the tag team titles against the Fight Factory next week too!!!

    **LAMBEG**

plays into the arena, and FINLAY now enters the stage, ahead of the main event tonight; a BELFAST BRAWL between the full time GM and the WWE Champion.

    COMMERCIAL BREAK

In the main event Belfast Brawl, EDGE goes to war with FINLAY with the Irishman holding nothing back following the earlier warning from Kendrick. Despite looking somewhat hesitant at times, Finlay takes the fight to Edge, using a cavalcade of weapons, with the WWE Champion struggling badly with his mounting injury problems. His cut from last week is reopened, and despite having opportunities to simply stay down and save his energy for the WWE Title match next week - Edge wont take the easy route out.

After a mid-match commercial break, The Rated ‘R’ Superstar fights back into the contest, using weapons himself, at one point HIP TOSSING Finlay THROUGH A TABLE!!!!! An Edge-O-Matic scores a two for the WWE Champion, and Edge looks to end the contest with a SPEAR - but Finlay NAILS the incoming WWE Champion with his SHILLELAGH!!!!! Finlay covers, 1...2...NO!!!!! The Irishman tries to tell Edge to simply stay down at this point, not wanting to do him any more harm, but Edge is adamant, and SLAPS Finlay, refusing to stay down!!!

Finlay responds with a big boot, before setting up a table, looking to finish Edge off - but the champion makes ANOTHER comeback!!! Edge scores with a series of clotheslines, and sends Finlay into the steps on the outside, before he wears out a Singapore Cane on Finlay, then wears out a chair on the Irishman too … before finishing the match in style - SPEARING FINLAY THROUGH AN UPRIGHT TABLE!!!!! Edge drags the Irishman out of the rubble, making the cover; 1...2...3!!!!! Edge wins a gruelling match @ 16:11!!!

Exhausted and battered, Edge has his hand raised - but as you’d expect, he barely gets to draw breath, when THE BRIAN KENDRICK and TYSON TOMKO attack the WWE Champion from behind!!!!!

It’s a two on one mugging, with Tomko nailing Edge with a big boot, and Kendrick delivering SLICED BREAD onto a chair!!! Not content with that, Kendrick orders the recovering Finlay to attack Edge too, but the Irishman shakes his head.

Kendrick then reminds Finlay what he told him earlier, with Tomko bearing down on the Irishman. With no choice, Finlay picks up his shillelagh, and stands over a decimated Edge … but as he stalls …

    **TIME TO PLAY THE GAME**

An unlikely savior - TRIPLE H - hit’s the stage, and brings the ultimate equalizer; HIS SLEDGEHAMMER!!!!! Kendrick and Tomko quickly split, hightailing it through the crowd, with Finlay tossing his weapon down, leaving the ring too as Triple H enters.

The Game stands on the ropes, pointing out to Kendrick and Tomko in the sea of fans, as the camera catches a concerned looking Kendrick backing up through the fans, pushing some people out of his way, surely now wondering if Triple H could scupper his title aspirations.

Triple H helps Edge get to his feet in the ring - with Edge still out of sorts, but clearly confused at Triple H coming to his aid. We soon get an idea why Triple H has come to help Edge, carefully placing the WWE Title belt on the shoulder of the Rated ‘R’ Superstar - then forcefully pats it.

The Game stares down the bloody WWE Champion, giving Edge a nod, before tapping the belt again - this time with the sledgehammer - then departs the ring, with Edge still spaghetti legged, but in no doubt that Triple H is only helping him now with a future title shot in his sights.

Joey Styles signs off the show, hyping next weeks LIVE edition of Smackdown - arguably the biggest Smackdown EVER - topped with the WWE Championship showdown between the decimated and broken down champion - Edge … and the power abusing GM - The Brian Kendrick.

    Re: Being The Booker

I've been wanting to leave some type of review since I haven't before Judgement Day now. Just going to give some scattered thoughts regarding this past week of WWE television you just put together.

Paul London defeating Brent Albright has me ecstatic. I would love to see Paul leave as the winner of this tournament. It's a long time coming for him, and I think the King of the Ring tournament will finally be his time to shine.

Per usual, it’s hard not to appreciate what you have done, what you’re still doing and what you’ll do with John Cena. This week may not have been a lot to take in, but I’m always a fan of a heel champion absolutely running down his opponents. I like it a bit more when the champion proves it in competition. Can’t see Cena losing this championship for awhile honestly.

The elimination chamber as well as Vengeance has lots of potential. As of right now, Mickie James is intriguing me most on the red brand. Hoping she gets that championship soon.

Into the blue brand - The Brian Kendrick. He’s just a highlight every single week. He’s just the absolute worst and I adore it. I’ll leave official predictions after this, but I’d love to see the three hour show even go two minutes in overrun and Kendrick is no longer General Manager. Something different which is something you thrive doing. Best storyline in your BTB right now IMO. I’m sure someone will disagree though aha.

Ending an angle doesn’t get more intense than with a Loser Leaves WWE Match. Especially something like this. I am a fan of Rob Van Dam being the thorn in Chris Jericho’s side that will never go away, and honestly this is the best stipulation for these two. You could send one to Raw, but the other can easily invade the other show. It’s time to end this feud once and for all. Cannot see this contract signing ending well either.

I’m very indecisive of the Hardy’s attack. I personally go back and forth with my feelings towards a face attacking a heel. With the right people, it works really well. It worked really well here because of the tag team you have with The Gods of War. It’s hard to keep them grounded and sometimes you need a foreign object with a coordinated attack to take them out. I like how it’s kind of biting them in the butt as they now need to face each other next week.

It’s really hard for me to find somethings that I don’t agree with, Wolf Beast. Top notch work for this week and I’m ready for the next!

    Smackdown’s Debut on Sci-Fi Predictions:

    Edge over The Brian Kendrick
    The Fight Factory over MNM
    Danielson over Tomko
    Noble over Carlito
    Angle over Sandow
    DiBiase over Truth
Hardy’s draw thanks to The Gods of War

    Re: Being The Booker

Long-time reader, I’d say about eight years or so, and I thought I’d leave some thoughts on the most recent episode of Smackdown. I won’t go through the entire show but I’ll touch on some of the key points that I thought were interesting.

The Brian Kendrick is absolutely excellent. I love the way you’re writing him and his actions have such clear motivations. You’ve crafted this little worm character that has all this power and is abusing it to the tenth degree. It creates some really interesting storylines for the future when he is no longer the General Manager. For all this craziness that TBK is creating, he only has the power for so long and I think that’s a great story element that you’ve built around. It leaves potential for the payback that TBK will have to face but being so self-absorbed, at least right now, he doesn’t seem to have a plan in place other than to capture the WWE Title, for how to deal with everyone once he is just a wrestler again. I really appreciate the little things like superstars not even bothering to try and reason with TBK, that conveys just how over the top he is at the moment – and those who did (like the Hardys) got screwed over by reaching out to TBK. As I said, this entire thing with TBK is excellent and my favourite angle throughout the entire thing. It’s so simple, this little arrogant ass having all this power and I cannot wait to see how it all comes back to bite him in the future.

Another point that I found interesting, building off TBK, was the decision to have RVD vs. Jericho as a Loser Leaves Town Match. I think this opens up a variety of options, one of the more intriguing ones is if Jericho gets fired while holding MITB. It’s the classic be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. It’s probably just RVD’s time but I’m super interested to see if you’d pull the trigger and send Jericho packing while holding MITB. TBK mentioned consulting the Board of Directors but what if he is full of shit? That’s the first thing that went through my mind after the opening segment where he threw the medical report in the bin. Right at the opening of the show you’ve established that TBK doesn’t really care about any authority other than his own, so is it believable that he wouldn’t consult the Board? Yes. For me, it brings into question how valid TBK’s statement was about the briefcase being worthless even if Jericho gets beat – which is why I so want to see that possibly explored. Great stuff with Jericho throughout the night – captured him really well.

One of the things that a lot of people find difficult is crafting interesting tag team feuds and I’ve got to say, it’s exciting to see three of them on Smackdown. The blue brand is my favourite set of shows you’re producing right now, and I’m a big fan of the Gods of War. The battle with the Hardys is going to be super fun, I think you’ve crafted both teams really well and having them being such total opposites in terms of style is a great element. Coming off facing another hard hitting team, I think it was smart to have GOW fight a more athletic and high flying offense based pair like Matt and Jeff.

The Melina angle is simple, and it’s building some intrigue heading into the title match. I don’t think you’ll split her from the group however I could see Melina making a mistake or getting caught in the crossfire which leads to new champions. With it being a big show, and the WWE Title unlikely to change hands, I could very easily see the Tag Titles switching to convey that major event feel.

Jamie Noble is another great character up there with the likes of TBK. The way you slow burned the title win was fantastic and I’m loving the more heelish nature of Noble since winning the title. It’s a perfect setup to him being this hypocrite when he got chance after chance at the title, and now that he has it, seemingly doesn’t want to give Danielson a single rematch. That’s brilliant storytelling and a great way to twist Noble heel that has become. He looked strong retaining the belt here, I don’t think the way to go is have Noble and Danielson meet in KOTR. You’ve slowed burned the title win, perhaps that’s enough of the slow burn for you, I can understand that and from a writing perspective I’m sure you’d love to get a chance to writing the rematch ASAP. However, I think the story of Noble seeing Danielson advance, realizing if he wins that he would have to clash with him again, and purposely losing would be a really exciting move. Of course, he could advance and then Danielson advances later in the night - removing Noble's chance to throw the earlier match with Carlito. Either way, I do not think that Noble vs. Danielson is happening in KOTR and I think it'd be a mistake to do it so soon. I’m really interested to see what you do with these two-next week.

A smaller point I wanted to make is that I’m a fan of the introduction that you’ve had for Ted DiBiase Jr. and I thought the payment of Mark Henry last Smackdown was excellent. The future of him in this thread has me intrigued. I don’t know how long you run with him not actually having to compete, I think the idea has as much legs as you want to put into it, whether he actually has to fight R-Truth or something happens to him basically giving Junior a bye to the next round – again. You’ve been able to introduce new characters really well for years and DiBiase Jr. is fitting perfectly in his role.

Overall, a really fun show that progressed a lot of angles that I’m interested in. Keep up the good work! I'll throw in some predictions while I'm here.

    Re: Being The Booker

Kendrick once again stood out during this show, he's became a real character in this thread and has excelled these last few weeks. From being a total snake with the doctors report to the decision he's taken regarding Jericho and Van Dam, you're really finding your groove with him and he's proving to be such a fun character. Where he goes once his run with Edge and his spell as General Manager comes to an end will hopefully be something good that keeps him as a prominent member of the show. Perhaps even a feud with Triple H is in the future? Would certainly be yet another step up the ranks for Kendrick if it takes place. And as for his actions after the main event, ordering Finlay to attack Edge with the shillelagh and then heading for the hills when Triple H came for the save shows exactly how he's gone mad with power but yet is still a chicken-shit heel deep down. Such an interesting dynamic within his character. Kendrick's awesome right now, please keep that going after the GM business comes to an end, would be a real shame if you didn't.

The stipulation for Jericho/Van Dam is very interesting, could easily go both ways for me. I guess the obvious result is that Jericho survives and Van Dam leaves, as I'm sure by this time in real life he had left the WWE and was complaining about being burned out, so that's an easy reason for writing him out of the thread right there. On the other hand, why not have him beat Jericho and cause Jericho to leave with the briefcase... to then come back months down the line and make a shock return by cashing it in? I don't know how you'd explain it in kayfabe terms, but I think that'd be a great storyline to run with. The champion thinks he's safe as Jericho isn't with the company anymore, then somehow Jericho returns to take the title away. Could be pretty epic. But yeah, Kendrick again was pretty awesome in the announcement of the stipulation, and nice touch in having the explanation be that once Kendrick becomes champion he doesn't want Money in the Bank hanging over him. Really good stuff all round here, contract signing will no doubt see a five star through the table, but that cage match looks like it could be a classic.

The other storyline that really stood out for me is the Hardy Boyz situation. I think a split and feud between the two seems inevitable at this point, but not until after they've had their turn with The Gods of War. Certainly good to see Lashley and Batista taken down a peg this week, they've looked pretty strong the last few weeks so The Hardys had to get something back this week. You'd think the two teams would meet at The Bash and GoW would get the win, furthering things between Matt and Jeff. And there he is again, Kendrick sticking his nose in and putting the two of them against each other. i'm not sure who would win next week out of the two of them, but could certainly see the loser being pretty upset about it and that leading to some controversy between the two. Perhaps that even spills over into the winner's match with Batista? But yeah, this is a real intriguing part of the show right now, very fluid in the way that although tag teams, all four men you could argue have been more known for singles action in the thread so it's easy enough to make a series of matches between them all. I doubt Batista is losing his title any time soon, but certainly The Hardys are the real focus of this issue for me and I'm interested to see how it plays out.

Overall, it was Kendrick who was the star of the show once again for me. Loved his interactions with Finlay and Jericho, his decision making and his total lack of empathy with anybody who isn't on his side. Could see him really going over the edge (pun intended) next week and going power crazy against Edge, with perhaps only Commissioner Ventura or Triple H the men to bring him back down to earth. But next week's big show should be fascinating to read, can't wait for that one, SmackDown is really firing right now. And here's some predictions...

    Re: Being The Booker

Yeah, so, I’m back. For this show at least anyway.

As imac touched on, Kendrick’s character has stepped up so many levels in the past month. I think from just before JD when he brutally attacked Finlay, the change has been awesome. He’s gone from being a joke, to being a guy who is still considered but will then snap out of nowhere and beat the shit out of you. Been really exciting to read the change. Kendrick not caring about the doctor’s report and booking his two current enemies, Edge/Finlay against each other in a Belfast Brawl is awesome on so many levels. Big time main event tonight as well, I look forward to it.

Whilst I completely expect Jericho to pick up the win over RVD, the idea of Kendrick trying to eliminate the MITB briefcase before he is champion is so clever. His character is so smart at times. Jericho/RVD has been building for awhile now and a steel cage final match at SNME is the perfectly blow off point. I look forward to that one; this Jericho change of character has been sensational as well.

Holy shit! I definitely didn’t expect Sandow to go over MVP either. Not necessarily a bad thing or anything but just unexpected. MVP being cheated gives him an out, but I feel like Porter has been floating around doing nothing but MITB for awhile now. It’s time he gets something, or a loss like this shows you aren’t a fan. I’ll wait and see.

Jericho continuing to whinge about being fired when he has the MITB is a great follow up from earlier in the night. Kendrick’s smugness in telling him is great… Triple H is here, cool.

Selling Edge’s injuries is smart. It really shows the hell that Kendrick has been putting him through.

Mark Henry and Umaga trading squashes is awesome slow build. Can’t wait to see these guys actually go at it.

Interesting segment between Kendrick and Triple H. HHH flaunting his actual backstage pull is fun, and is a nice mini angle to keep us interested as Kendrick is GM.

The Hardy Boyz are an awesome foil for The Gods of War. They are good at taking bumps and the fans love their plucky comebacks. A perfect feud here to tie TGOW through and this attack with The Hardyz coming out on top is good revenge for last week. This one progressing should be a whole heap of fun.

Melina seemingly being scared of The Fight Factory has been intriguing; however I still think she may eventually side with them. Last week’s conversation was a lot of fun, and this week just adds to it. A nice stare down between the two teams as well, as we build towards their match.

Jamie Noble taking the heel role against Bourne shows where his character is at right now. Noble/Danielson has been so much fun and this subtly continued it here, whilst also giving Noble a solid title defence. Great booking all around.

Brian Kendrick is such an asshole, it’s ridiculously good. I’m interested as to who his guest will be for next week. Outside of that, forcing Finlay to fight the injured Edge and then putting The Hardyz against each other continues to show why he is the star of the show. All around fun.

Angle/Nitro was always going to be a really good contest so I was happy that you gave them 15 minutes to play with. This is a big rub for Nitro lasting this long with Angle, but Kurt was always going to pick up the win here. The handshake afterwards was a nice touch, as was Sandow being shattered he didn’t get the bye.

R Truth/DiBiase hasn’t been anything trail blazing but it has done the job of giving both men something to do debuting in KOTR completely fine. Truth refusing a pay out, only for Ted Sr to throw the insult back was some nice banter. Actually looking forward to seeing these two finally go at it next week.LOL at Sr throwing the dollar at Truth as well.

The Caribbean Connection get a win to remind us they are a capable team. Attack from Los Colons continues that angle nicely. I really think it’s time we hear a little more from Carlito about this though…

Kofi challenging Los Colons on his team’s behalf will have to do for now I guess…

Awesome main event and Edge looks like an absolute beast yet again by charging through this assault from Finlay. Really good ending to the show with Triple H running off Kendrick and Tomko, only to make his own intentions clear. Triple H/Edge could be fun.

Even in the recap form, this was a really good show. A few weeks back I was enjoying Raw a little more than Smackdown, but I feel like SD feels like everything is running along really smoothly now. Great stuff as always and here are some predictions for next week’s SD:

    Smackdown SmackDown Review

I’m turning over a new leaf in 2018 and getting back to handing out as many reviews as possible. And after winning a BTBOTM award last year I figured Wolf Beast more than deserved dome feedback on his Booker. So here goes my thoughts on SmackDown and bear in mind I don’t really know how we got to a lot of these storylines so my thoughts will be more general

    Things I liked

-Brian Kendrick – This is the biggest thing that jumped out at me immediately. Kendrick as a main event player and a temporary GM figure which I assume he got by winning some sort of match with a stipulation? Kendrick abusing his power to hurt Edge in the main event before he gets his title shot next week was logical but I can’t see him winning the title after the return of Triple H at the end of the show. Never saw much in Kendrick above the level he got so this is quite a surprise.

-Unique tag teams – Love some of the pairings you’ve got and the tag team division seems stacked. Lashley and Batista is a powerful and dominant team although not sure about Richards being involved. Didn’t ever strike me as anything special. I like the Caribbean Connection the most. Was always high on Carlito and Kingston, especially during this time period. Primo/Epico are underrated and The Hardys have always been awesome so I’m looking forward to seeing where your booking goes with all of them. MNM and Burke and Barrett add another element as well. So many teams!

-King of the Ring – I’m a sucker for King of the Ring and have never actually done one in my BTB although I do have plans to do it in the future if I ever reach them Good idea to have more people in it as well even if the earlier rounds are more predictable. Fully expect Angle to beat Sandow next week. Some updated brackets would be helpful and add an element to the Booker I feel.

-Jericho/RVD rivalry – Never a fan of the Money in the Bank briefcase switching but each to their own. Jericho vs. RVD is a great rivalry to book when both were arguably in their prime back in 2006. Very interesting stip to see one of them will leave WWE. Wonder how you get round that or whether you’re legit writing one out. I’d rather Y2J than RVD in the long run I reckon.

    Things to work on

-Lack of women – I think Melina was on SmackDown but having said that I think the women were on RAW and the Cruiserweights on SmackDown during this time period? Is that what is going on? Either way I think I’d float the women and the title over both brands in the long run.

-Presentation – Nothing major but I feel like you could make some minor changes which would add a lot. A picture or two would certainly illustrate some of the main feuds and matches going on. Also some headings before each match, I know you’ve got the colour difference but I just think it would make it a bit sleeker. As I said just minor things I’d change.

Well after reading your SmackDown I certainly see why you’ve made a big impact in the section Wolf Beast. There really is not a lot to pick you up on but I always try and pick something which I think can be improved and hope you find it useful in some way. Top work and I’ll be sure to try and keep up with this!

    Re: Being The Booker

Blown away by the feedback, folks. Was not expecting it at all. Thanks to you all. I’ll owe you all one as soon as I can, if I haven’t got to you already. Only saw a few things that required a follow up explanation, and I’m rubbish at multi quoting so …

Stojy - the McCool split from AMW was done pretty quick just to have it done and move her off on her own. Didn’t really want to stretch it out as she’ll still be a heel, but it wasn’t going to be a big break up, so I didn’t bother to stretch it out. Their association is over.

Order - Yeah, Kendrick and the full time GM, Finlay, have had ongoing issues since Finlay got the job. Long story short, Kendrick beat him at Judgment Day to become GM for a month.

Richards became the mouthpiece for Lashley at the tail end of 07 in the thread after both of them had been separately injured by Edge earlier in the year. They recruited Batista into the group a month of so later due to his own issues with Edge at the time. I always kinda liked Richards as a mouthpiece for whatever reason, and I never liked Lashley as a talker, so that was why I put them together.

The brackets being missing for the KOTR on Smackdown was an error on my part this week. I’ve had them on each show as the tournament has progressed normally, but must've had a brain fart and left it off here.

You’re right about the lack of women on Smackdown. Still at a stage where I have the women exclusive to Raw, with the Cruiserweight division on Smackdown.

Again, thanks to all of you for dropping some comments for me. I’ll be posting Raw on Monday probably, as I’ll have more time then to get it posted.
