The Stats
- Reigning King Cyrus T is back and ready to reclaim his throne this year, aiming to become the first king to win back to back terms since the heady days of Paulz0. Yes, it's been that long. He had a truly miraculous run last year on his way to becoming the lowest seed to ever win the crown, being coronated from the #31st spot. His reign has obviously been benevolent and impressive, because he's moved up the seedings to 27, but will the lack of an underdog tag prove to be his undoing?
- Taking up the mantle of #31 this year is everyone's least favourite human being, Tig. No number has ever won 2 years in a row, and this obviously won't be the case this year so let's just move on shall we.
- Silk represents the only woman in the tournament for the third year in a row, and with her third consecutive top 10 seeding. Will we see our first ever Queen of WC in the year our monarch turns 90? It's a great story, and what's more, she takes on the reigning king in the first round. The Drama.
- Last year, I wrote about how the #32 seed has NEVER won a match in KOWC history. Well, in 2015 Cox absolutely smashed that record out of the park, making it all the way to the final only to lose by just a handful of votes. This year, it's Regal's turn to do one better - can the skullduggery of Darren Kenneth Matthews go one better?
- Number 1 seed Punk Wolf comes into the tournament as a strong favourite in the bookmakers. A Rumble win now under his belt, Punker has had the taste of victory that is so important in these competitions. A generous donator and Pony enthusiast, the man certainly has what it takes to ride this wave right to the throne itseld.
- Going into last year, Order previously held the record for lowest seed ever to make the final at 23, but the record got smashed twice over with the emergence of Cox vs Cy. With no crown, and now no record to his name, Order will be looking to play the #10 role this year and fashion himself a chance at placing that magnificent golden crown atop his golden locks
- ... But the field has never been tougher. There are 5 former Kings in this years competition (Nash, PS, Jim, Cy and Dook), all of whom are eager to taste that sweet power once again.
- Also 11 out of 12 staff members have made it into the bracket this year, with only former SMod and master of Coming Attractions Necro not making the cut. Watch out for vote manipulation chaps, because these guys have it in spades.
- This year also marks the first time in 5 years that neither DD nor King Steventon have made it into the tournament. RIP Harambe In Pieces gents, you'll be back.
- Once again, the oldest competitor in this years tournament is Crocker, who breaks a record every time he can raise his arthritic hands to the keyboard in order to cuss out some filthy noob news poster who can't get a grip on the rules. 79 this year, keep fighting that fight buddy.
- Ed is the only competitor to retain his previous seeding, sticking at #3 spot for the second year running. He's desperate to win this, I'm pretty sure it's the only title he doesn't have in some regard, and if a scrub like me can win it, well.....
- Shake has increased by the most seedings from last year moving up 22 spots from 27th to 5th. The momentum pick no doubt.
- Duke's back in business as well. After missing last year and snapping his streak of 9 thousand KOWC's in a row, he's rebranded as everyone's favourite goofball/closet genius Charlie Day and is ready to take some names. He's up against the lad Cox first round, keep an eye out for him alright.
- Stop me if I'm not counting this right, but is that 12 Hall of Famers in this years running? Holy shit.
- The biggest fall from grace? Poor Willis, 7th down to 26th. Definitely not one to underestimate though.
