2016 NFL Regular Season Thread - Week 17

It's a whole new year, the first without Peyton Manning and Tom Brady (he'll be back sadly). The season kicks off tomorrow with a Super Bowl rematch with Trevor Siemien starting under center for Denver, after they found out what NFL teams still struggle understanding for some reason, that Mark Sanchez isn't very good at being a QB. There's the usual assortment of great players doing their thing, but with deflategate winding down and nothing really coming over that steroid thing they were looking at popping Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers for, the Rams moving to LA, things were seemingly less dramatic than usual. Now the games count for real, and I'd love to know what you're looking forward to seeing this opening weekend and what kind of goofy predictions we all have for the season. In fact, I just so happen to have some of my own where I went down everyone's schedule today. Check out how I think in my completely non-biased system how I think things should play out. Feel free to question me, then be amazed as I go down the line and explain why I think the Bears will win 9 games.

Re: 2016 NFL Regular Season Thread - Week 1

Lately I don't predict who wins the division or how my team might do, because the last time I thought my team was going 6-10 and instead the team went 10-6. It's been a weird Offseason for me, the trading of players and picks to get Wentz, a Coaching change, and then a QB change with the trade with the Vikings. I don't know how this season will play out, Wentz could light it up this season because the division is weak with questions for each team, or Wentz could lose himself in the moment and we go 3-13 this season. If theirs one thing I'm happy with, is the showing of the defense which to me is the best in the division. They were really dominated from the starters to the second and third stringers. Now the games matter, let's see how going back to the 4-3 does for their team this season.

Won't be shocked if the Chargers beat the Chiefs on Sunday.

I don't see much in Wentz, especially this year. He looked bad too as expected, don't really understand why they traded away Bradford, guess we'll see. Like the Rams' strategy much better. Goff isn't any good right now so they aren't playing him and getting him killed. The Eagles strategy appears to mirror their basketball brethren.

The Chiefs are my go-to on the "Will they make the playoffs? Yes/No" bets, always no. Don't know what I feel about the Chargers, they have a lot of pieces I like, but it just seems like a cluster up and down.

Is that just for this year or past seasons, too?

Prediction: Dak Prescott is the real deal, leads Dallas to a 5-2 start, and the Cowboys trade Romo to the Vikings mid-season for one or two more high-value draft picks. Romo rallies the talent-filled Vikings to a 10-6 finish, and NFC East Champ Dallas faces Minnesota in the wild card round. OH THE DRAMA!

Re: 2016 NFL Regular Season Thread - Week 1

I hope my Titans have a good showing in Week 1 against the Vikings. It sucks to see Bridgewater out for the season, but them signing and likely starting Bradford, should at least give them some sort of confidence, hopefully. But seriously, I hope it's still a good game with the two teams.

For the Cowboys having Prescott lead the team, he's having a big opportunity to navigate the Cowboys to a legit team. But, he's in the same boat as Wentz, Goff and Siemien, you don't know what to get from them.

Tonight's game, makes me glad that the NFL season is here. Anyways, I am interested to see how Siemien does in his first ever game. I am also interested to see if the Panthers can get their revenge against the defending champs.

    I am pumped for this!

Booker's first carry is a fumble. Ouch.

This new taunting rule is some crazy stuff. PC gone overboard as usual.

Benjamin looks great out there. Siemien looks good too.

I'm quite happy to see Benjamin play his first official game. For his height, it's hard for opponents to contain him lol. Just look at how he caught that paas in the 2014 BCS Title game.

Without the turnovers the Panthers D looks horrible. Both Boston and Bene had the worst missed tackles possible.

That was a great drive. Olsen and Cam rocked the house with a little Fozzy too. Took a ton of time off the clock. Really good stuff.

The timeouts were bad (the one before the challenge was especially ridiculous, and Cam having to use his last one was too) but what was worse was the abysmal and ridiculously biased job the referees did, Cam took no less than 4 helmet to helmet (and multiple dirty on he and Benjamin) hits with one of them called, that was erased due to grounding??? That is a rule that needs to be tweaked tomorrow. Not to mention the lack of concussion protocol to have him out there. I'm obviously really bummed the team lost but I just hope Cam is okay.

Yeah, I'm legit concerned for Cam's health after that helment to helmet, and the fact that it got called back, was so ridiculous. But at least CJ Anderson got me some killer fantasy points.

Re: 2016 NFL Regular Season Thread - Week 1

Well, that didn't last long. The NFL and that officiating crew managed to completely remove all my enthusiasm for the new NFL season in just a single game. And seriously question whether I want to be a fan of this sport anymore. Not a Panthers fan so don't care much that they lost. but I did not enjoy seeing Cam Newton get headhunted and take at least four shots to the head, two of which seemed to affect him and only one of which earned a flag.... which didn't even matter because he "grounded" the ball due to getting smashed in the head. Protect the QB? Concussion protocol? Player safety? Apparently none of those fucking matter cuz CLOSE PRIME-TIME GAME.

They did post-game concussion protocol on him, which is laughable. And he basically said he doesn't remember the end of the game.

GG refs. The fact that only the last one was called is really concerning.

Well, it looks like this season is going to be fucked up for all teams, with the refs not doing their damn jobs.

Hope Cam's alright, despite what people think about him, he didn't deserve this. There should be fines and suspension for the Broncos after this fucking debacle.

I've been telling a lot of people, Bradford's not the worst pick for the Vikings to get, he'll do alright, especially with his old bud Shaun Hill on the team too. Not only that, the defense has been monstrous for the last two seasons, and is unlikely to change this season; we also have AP back to form, and an updated offensive line that will hopefully do its job. Overall, despite Teddy being injured, I'm still optimistic about how the Vikings will do. I think they'll beat the Packers to become NFC North Champs again. At the very least, I see them at 10-5-1, and at the most (if Bradford goes monster mode and AP runs for at least 1,700 yards this season) 12-4.

I couldn't believe the cheap shots either. The Broncos defense played dirty and that's not right by taking shots at Cam and Benjamin. If the refs aren't doing their job maintaining the game, they should be fired from their jobs. I hope Cam is alright, cause he took a lot of punishment in that game.

Aside from the fiasco, I really have to give Siemian some respect by bringing the team back in the fourth quarter, throwing two touchdowns to win 21-20.

Overall, I thought it's a great game to kickoff the NFL season.
