    Euro 2016 7-a-side - First Knockout Round

Euro 2016 Fantasy 7-a-side - The First Knockout Round:

    Simmo v Jon Snow

    Zero v Nash

    Ed v Mr Blonde

    PS v Dmac

    Format:

Scoring Period - Saturday June 25th to Tuesday June 28th.

So, now we have our fixtures for the first knockout-round. These head-to-head fixtures will include the Round of 16 Euro 2016 matches.

For the 4 that progress to the Semi-Finals, we will do a randomised draw to determine who will play who in the Semis.

    Updated Schedule by popular demand:

First Knockout Round = Round of 16 Euro 2016 Matches.

Second Knockout Round = Quarter-Final Euro 2016 Matches.

Final Round = Semi-Finals and Final Euro 2016 Matches.

    Claims/Drops:

All the players from the 4 eliminated teams are now off the table, which means we have lost some big guns, Payet, Bale, etc. Also, Syko, Order and Crock submitted Claim/Drops before their eliminations, so their claimed players are now also unavailable, purely because it would be unfair to now reintroduce those players after some people have already Claimed/Dropped. Those of you that haven't yet submitted your Claim/Drop for the current round have until Midday GMT on Saturday to do so.

    Completed Claims/Drops:

    Sykotic: Dropped Calhanoglu, Claimed Nolito.

    Order: Dropped Mandzukic, Claimed Sturridge.

    Dmac: Dropped Rooney, Claimed Barzagli.

    Crock: Dropped Wilshere, Claimed Rooney.

    PS: Dropped Yarmolenko, Claimed Giaccherini.

    Simmo: Dropped Almer, Claimed Subasic.

    Nash: Dropped Konoplyanka, Claimed Allen.

Jon Snow: Dropped Zielinski, Claimed Blaszykowski.

Just throwing it out there, I'd prefer this next round to just be the last 16 games, then when there's four of us left in the semis we have the real life quarter finals to score points from as well. Might make it more exciting with the amount of big teams on one side of the real life bracket, our semis and finals would be lame under the current rules.

Put it to a vote and the first 5 to respond all were in favour of Ed's suggested changes, so the majority has it.

With regards to Claims/Drops, submit a Claim/Drop in this thread or via PM at any point during the Round of 16 games, and the change will come into effect for the following Round should you qualify.

Hopefully this tweak will help the competition run smoothly.

    Peace.

Scoring will be done including extra-time should any of the games go the distance.

So for example, if Spain keep a clean sheet over 90 minutes but lose in extra time 1-0, then sorry but no clean sheet. But equally, if your player scores in extra time then all those points will count.

Penalty Shootouts will not be included in any scoring.

Blaszcykowski goal and Wayne Hennessey clean sheet. Off to a decent start. Not too optimistic yet.

Re: Euro 2016 7-a-side - First Knockout Round

Scores-on-the-doors with one day to go:

    Simmo 16 (from 5) v Jon Snow 33 (from 7)

    Ed 25 (from 5) v Mr Blonde 16 (from 3)

    Zero 12 (from 5) v Nash (15 (from 2)

    PS 24 (from 4) v Dmac 23 (from 6).

My fears were correct, I need a Spain clean sheet and for Alba or Pique to score...

My only real path is a score draw with Barzagli scoring... yeah I'll just leave now.

Re: Euro 2016 7-a-side - First Knockout Round

Nash, PS, and Jon Snow are all through to the next round with relatively comfortable victories, eliminating Zero, Dmac, and Myself respectively.

Ed and Blonde on the other hand is a whole other story.

Ed 27 with Alli to play, Blonde 29 with Vardy to play.

Alli starts, Vardy doesn't, oh the drama...

I'm too depressed to do anything about this now. I'll get everything sorted tomorrow.

I'd love to say that with Rooney I would have gone through. I wouldn't have. Fair play to the Fantrax King.

Re: Euro 2016 7-a-side - First Knockout Round

    First Knockout Round - Results:

    Simmo 20 - 33 Jon Snow

    Ed 29
    - 30 Mr Blonde

    Zero 15
    - 25 Nash

    PS 35
    - 29 Dmac

    Simmo v Jon Snow:

A complete mismatch, from Ozil missing a penalty to Spain's implosion, it couldn't have gone much worse for me, despite De Bruyne's valiant attempts to salvage a semblance of competitiveness, the game was Jon's from the start.

Jon looks strong going in to the next round, and presumably with replacing Alaba or Modric he will have 6 starters, which could be key in the next round.

    Ed v Mr Blonde:

The game of the round, it went right to the wire, and culminated with the anti-climax of Vardy getting himself off the bench to give Blondie the win. Ed perishes, and poor Cristiano goes along with him.

    Zero v Nash:

Everybody's favourite underdog couldn't repeat his group stage heroics to overcome everybody's least favourite heavyweight. Nash continues to deny the forces of logic, progressing in true Nash style, with less points than everybody except me and Zero.

    PS v Dmac:

Our Griezmann-inspired resident Fantrax expert squeezed himself through to the next round after beating a defiant Dmac. PS' strong defence continues to be the basis of his success, and this has seen his odds on becoming the next England manager slashed overnight.

    PS/Nash final would be money.

Think Giac had an assist btw but doesn't actually matter.

    And he scores goals...!

Yeah my bad, I had that as no assist for anyone but seems that it got credited to Giac.

Next round fixtures have been drawn, thread is imminent this afternoon

Yeah when he got that assist I gave up hope but as ya said it's irrelevant and you win either way.

Premier League Champ putting League 1 Champ in his place.
