Wow, Chelsea vs WHU and Arsenal vs Liverpool - not often you get big games like that in the first game.

Away 1st game, last game and Boxing Day. What a buzzkill. Looking through the fixtures, it's starting to hit me how dull this season could be without a derby to look forward to, I think it's the first time since 2003 that we haven't got to play Wolves or Villa. There's nothing on paper to get excited about for Albion fans.

On the bright side, our fixtures are relatively easy until mid October so hopefully we've got some wins under our belt by then.

Excited to finally be back in the prem (Boro fan) it's been too long. Relatively gentle start although I hope we're safe by April our last few games are tough.

We start our PL campaign at home against Liverpool. Great opening game. It will be a tough game. Hope we don't bottle it like we did against West Ham last season in our first game. Up next is champions Leicester. We need to get those early points. Hopefully Wenger brings in fresh faces to rectify the mistakes of previous seasons.

Our only Sunday game is on the last day of the season. Fixtures can be rescheduled though. Most of our games are on Saturday, that's great. Don't like the extra day wait.

It will be interesting how Leicester cope in all competitions.

Lol they haven't picked the TV games yet mate.

Arsenal will have their fair share of Sunday games, as always.

    I'm sorry but SMH

Thanks for the correction mate. Yeah, can't believe I forgot about this. I quickly scrolled through the fixtures and forgot about the TV games that will be picked.

Bournemouth away is a tough first game especially after losing their last year. Hopefully we get some revenge and have a decent start for the first time in a few seasons. I think we will be boring to start with as Mourinho will focus on making us hard to beat.

Chile win the Copa America on penalties for the second successive year. Messi missed a penalty. 23 years without a major trophy for Argentina. Messi quits international football. Sad to see him quit at such a young age. Losing three major finals in a row. He has another World Cup in him. Hope he changes his mind.

Loosing three major finals must be tough, but it's a bit quick, his decision especially when you have more years in you yet.. sounds like he may of not gave it all the thought it needs.

Mascherano and Aguero have also retired and there are rumours Higuain and Banega could follow as well. Man Argentina could be a shell of their former team if they all go.

Copa America as a whole was a class tournament though. Way more entertaining than the Euros so far.

Sounds like its as much or more of a revolt against the Argentine FA as anything. Pretty significant corruption going on there for a long time.

My co-worker and fellow Gooner is Chilean. I'm surprised he actually made it into work today.

I'm very happy with Aguero retiring, he's been injured on international duty a few times over the years.

I'm fine with it, I'm not an Argentinian fan.

Both Shearer and Scholes did the same for England.

    Re: General Football Discussion 2016-17

Well, the Argentine FA is so corrupt that FIFA recently took over control. Think about that. How fucked up does an organization need to be for FIFA to say "No, that's just too much corruption". The National Team ends up doing a lot of stuff simply to make money, and that money isn't actually helping Argentina football at all. Its appropriated by the corrupt FA. Stolen.

I've also read about how the environment around the NT is pretty toxic. Massive expectations from the public, a very critical media...

Ryan Giggs has left Man United after 29 years. A sad day for all Red Devils fans. Pity Mourinho didn't want him in his backroom staff. Interested to see where he chooses to go next though.
