I think Romania aren't as bad as people seem to believe.

But, with the buzz of opening the tournament, and a very impressive attack I am tempted to agree with Syko and say France will score at least a couple of goals.

I don't think it's hard to state (unless your PS ) that Romania qualified from the weakest group.

Not many are giving Northern Ireland or Hungary a chance which says a lot about the groups they came from.

Albania ousted Denmark and Serbia in a group that had Portugal in, I just think they will sneak into 3rd although I'm not sure they will do enough to qualify, which is as unpredictable as it has ever been.

    Group prediction

    1: France
    2: Switzerland
    3: Romania
    4: Albania

Euro 2016 begins tonight. The hosts France open against Romania. Benzema will be a big miss for France but their squad still looks good. I reckon they will go far, probably runners up. They should have taken Lacazette as an extra striker. Sissoko should have been dropped. Hope Giroud gets the golden boot. :D

Prediction for tonight's game: 2-0 to France.

Qualifiers don't mean too much but if you want to go by them then Romania had the best defensive record.

Also early games can sometimes be pretty cagey.

I think the tournament needed that goal to give France a lift with a memorable late winner, I wasn't too impressed with them tonight to say they're one of the favourites to win and pogba this and griezman that. Romania did well I thought. Payet was MOTM even before the goal, baller.

Yeah I though Romania worked well and were unlucky in the end not fo get a draw, I could see them still getting through.

Good win for France. What a strike from Payet to win the game. World class goal, worthy of winning any match. Goal of the tournament contender and it's only just started. Payet gets the man of the match, well deserved. Glad Giroud scored the opening goal. Romania played well though. Looking forward to seeing Xhaka in action tomorrow.

Re: Euro 2016 Group A Discussion Thread

Tbh the groups are quite difficult to impress in as a favourite, only so scintillating you can be when the opposition just sit in. I thought France looked sharp enough, still would fancy them against anyone barring Spain (or England).

Re: Euro 2016 Group A Discussion Thread

Was surprised they went with Giroud against a Romanian side who were defensively strong. With the high line they played an attacker with pace would have been much more effective in my opinion.

Kante and Payet were the standout performers from what I saw.

So excited that the Euros are finally here!

We struggled in this game but in the end got the first win in the books. Romania was tough though.

We've got Payet... i just don't think you understand.
