Going to bump this thread by pimping the album Songs from the Garage by Jim Breuer and the Loud and Rowdies.

Fans of his comeday and fans of Old School Hard Rock/Metal will love this album. There are some great comedy songs on here but also some really good Real Hard Rock Gems as well. Breuer suprisingly has a really really good Hard Rock Voice.

Re: The Awesome Albums of 2016 Thread

    Monda by Cousin Stizz

Major Key by DJ Khaled (okay maybe not totally awesome but a good Nas track, Jermaine's Interlude is gorgeous, and then Kendrick/Big Sean track where Kendrick outshines Big Sean again )

3001: A Laced Odyssey by Flatbush Zombies, its their debut album I'm pretty sure and Ascension is easily my favorite track on it.

Uncommon Knowledge by K.a.a.n : Honestly just listening to him rap is pretty great

Telefone by Noname : in a way sounds like Chance The Rapper in female form in one of his more slower more spoken word type tracks, plus was discovered by Chance and appears in Chance 3

There's Alot Going On by Vic Mensah: Didn't care for him before this album because he's recent stuff was pretty much generic stuff but this is a lot more heartfelt both personally & from a social perspective

Prima Donna by Vince Staples: listen to it like twice, then listen to it from the last track to the first track to get a pretty great story.

Jeffery by Young Thug: kept this for last. I usually hate this kind of music but I don't know, it warmed up to me. Riri (a riff on Work, work, work) and Harambe are easily my favorite tracks on this thing.

Coloring Book by Chance the Rapper: Wasn't as awesome as I was hoping for and for a labelless guy this felt heavily produced in that sense and tonally inconsistent. Still some great tracks on there and listen to it often enough and it gets better.

Prima Donna/There's Alot Going On/Jeffery are my go to albums. Telefone is great if I got headphones on or if I'm working or something. Uncommon Knowledge is just easy to listen to in general even if you're not paying attention. Except when he says "lawd".

Nothing's beaten Gore by Deftones yet for me.

I enjoyed Russian Circles new album but might be my least favourite of there work.

Saw them live a couple of weeks back and the new songs they played work much better live than on the album. I like it a lot but like you I think it's potentially their weakest release, which just shows how outrageously good the rest of their output is.

I've had Revolution Radio on repeat since it came out. Its light on ballads and isn't as politically driven as American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. Airbourne's latest album Breaking Outta Hell is a great rock n roll album too, although I don't think its as good as their previous album Black Dog Barking.

Just waiting on Who You Selling For by The Pretty Reckless and Joanne by Lady Gaga to come out.

Prefered 13 Voices over Revolution Radio. Both are decent but unspectacular.

I think my two to beat are "Adore Life" by Savages and "Welcome The Worms" by BLEACHED. Great year for female rock bands.

Adore Life might be my favorite of the year, though.

Another fav of mine in 2016 is Divak from the band Soto which is the latest band from Veteran Melodic rocker Jeff Scott Soto.

Great double album from this band and one of the heaviest sounding albums of Jeff's Long and Varied career. It's not quite as good as last year's Inside the Vertigo but it's still a tremendous rock album

Re: The Awesome Albums of 2016 Thread

The new Metallica album is more good than bad, but would've been good to great had they stayed focused and put out the last great Metallica thrash album for fans, but that didn't happen. Some songs are really frigging great...the first four on the 1st disc...right on par with some of the other classic Metallica songs, then they downshift...hard and you get, "Dream No More," and I'm not a fan of the massive shift, it feels like you hit a wall full on. Next up is "Halo On Fire" and it wants to be a couple of different songs at the same time. "Confusion" would be more at home of the Black Album or actually, the Load/Re-Load albums. The next few songs I'm still trying to figure out...they aren't bad, but they aren't great...just, kinda there...not sure if they belong on the record. The ender, "Spit Out The Bone" leaves you wanting the entire album to be as good. The album starts sooo great and then just hits this weird muddled kind of mess. It just doesn't feel like the songs belong there, especially when they end it with Bone. It's bookended by such ferocity, you want the entire album to be as good as that.

Re: The Awesome Albums of 2016 Thread

Awaken, My Love by Childish Gambino easy. It's a huge departure from his usual stuff, and not a rap album at all, but he does the transition way better than Kid Cudi did. Listened to the album twice as it is and think I'll listen to it a few more times tonight while I work.

Crown by Rapsody is pretty great as well. Some Noname and Jay-Z similarities. Hope she ends up touring cuz I'd love to check her out if she comes up to Canada.

24K Magic by Bruno Mars goes without being said. And I'm not even a Bruno Mars fan.

KXNG Crooked's Good vs. Evil is pretty good. More enamored with it than I was Valley of the Kings.

Dunno if I mentioned it before but Songs Made While High by Like (man he should've came up with a better artist name, seriously?)

Lido's Everything. Listened to it a million times. Citi Bike and Falling Down are great. Jaden Smith is pretty great on it too.

Best part about my job is it's 20hrs a week where I can listen to any album in full and genuinely pay attention. Hard to find time for everything I'm into so glad I can fit music in during work.
