I love how Dallas used to be in Minnesota and this was the first ever series between the two teams

I'm a diehard Canucks fan but Dallas has always been my second team since Turco started playing there, I loved him as a goalie.

Can't believe the Sharks have finally made it to the Cup finals after years of choking in the playoffs. I kind of want them to win now just to cap off the story and get Joe Thornton's beard a skate around the ice with the Cup.

The Blues have seemed to take the Sharks place in terms of choking in the playoffs. That Blues team is as good as it gets over the past few years. They should be closing these series instead of having their top guys struggle for points when it matters he most.

Happy for the Sharks and happy for Burly Ol Joe.

I picked the Blues, but since Thornton was an original Bruin and close to the end of his career, I hope he gets the cup. He's still one of the best passers in the league.

Blow USA Hockey up, a bunch of players that had no business being home were at home.

Well that approach was never gonna work. Not unless it was a 7 game series or something. Its not like Canada is a lightweight finesse team lol

I didn't even look at the roster prior to the cup, but aside from the Team NA leeches, how in the fuck are Shattenkirk, Kessel, Ryan, and Johnson left at home? For fuck's sake.

Basically, they wanted a Torts team. All grit and personality. Fight and desire and physicality. Didn't work out so well. Pretty sure guys like Kessel were left out as "too one dimensional" in that they don't add much defensively. And then the gritty team of two-way players struggled to score. The analysts up here in Canada pretty much called it when the rosters were announced.

Torts gonna Torts. You don't bring goalscorers and you wonder why you're not scoring any fucking goals.

I feel like if I had checked the roster prior to watching I'd be less angry, but holy shit, I knew Torts was an uninspired choice, but this was fucking embarrassing.

Re: 2015 Official NHL Discussion Thread

It was dumb. No other nation is as deep, skill-wise, as Canada. The NHL is very close to 50% Canadians for that reason. Yet Canada doesn't win every single tournament. Because its not simply about having the best collection of "skill". Its about assembling a squad of players that compliment each other and don't have too many overt weaknesses. The US came with a squad designed to win a long series, not a knockout tournament. It was a questionable approach from the beginning. Kinda like assembling a "playoff team" and forgetting you have to play an 82 game regular season to qualify for the playoffs. Except kinda worse.
