I want to guess and say Fuji choose this one?

I really, really like Russian Circles and the last time I heard this was about a year ago and I thought this was their best album yet. I'm going to re-listen to it but I can already say Chelsea Wolfe's guest song is really nice and 1777 is a fucking awesome trip.

I can honestly say that I have never had anything I would call a bad blowjob, that wasn't a great experience but up until I started gushing blood I was having a great time!

    Russian Circles - Memorial

I had heard of them before this thanks to Fuji, who I too am assuming picked this one, and I really dug this a lot. It's a good album to just sit back to and chill out for awhile and listen, I'll definitely give more of their stuff a listen.

Stand out tracks: Ethel, Deficit, 1777

Yeah, it was me. Kind of obvious but whatever, Russian Circles rule so I'll take any chance I get to pimp 'em. I'd say it's a toss up between this and Geneva for their best album but that this one is definitely their most accomplished and accessible. Memorial w/ Chelsea Wolfe is really good and definitely a step up from their own attempt at vocals on Empros' "Praise Be Man".

Either this one or Empros would fit into the sinister category but yeah, that's a tough one. I will say that Burial may be their most sinister song. Speaking of sinister, I was going to pick Deafheaven's "Sunbather" instead of this but I figured even less people would make it through that one.

Awesome. Glad I was able to help turn you onto these guys.

As for my thoughts on the album itself, they can be pretty easily summed up by saying what I said to Nicky above. This is Russian Circles most accessible album yet and a good starting point for anyone who's interested in the band. Every song plays like the culmination of some of their previous works while also paying tribute to a variety of diverse influences, from Grandaddy to Goblin. There's also a really nice instrumental flow here and the album plays like one long story if listened to that way. I'd highly recommend seeing these guys live if you're into them and they come to a town near you, they're so worth it.

Re: WC Album Club: The 2010's

Solid record. Hadn't listened to Russian Circles before, so this had me intrigued. It's nice to hear straight instrumentals from time to time. Kind of caught me off guard at first not hearing any lyrics, but it's nice for a chance of pace. It felt a bit heavy on the metal side at times, but it worked. Would have loved to hear some pianos or keyboards mixed in with some of this. I feel like that would set them over the top. Regardless, it's still a good listen. 1777 and Cheyenne are great back to back tracks. Can't decide which is my favorite.

Favorite Track: 1777 and Cheyenne (Yes, I'm picking two. Fuck you.)
    Least Favorite Track: Deficit

Re: WC Album Club: The 2010's

So this was my pick, bit sentimental over musical anything.

The drummer and bassist are really good friends of mine, and stayed at my Uni house for a term when they were trying to hit it big in Leeds. This album was the culmination of a lot of work for them, and was released around the time I was leaving uni. It's very British guitars, crashing drums and anthem like poppy ballads, but these boys love their music and I'd love to think they got some shine because I recommended them on some obscure corner of the web.

For reference, skinny crackhead looking kid and the drummer with the plunging necklines and the cheeky smile are my mates. They're also fucking great live so keep an eye out

Nash picked the very first album in this club that not Only was I able to make it all the way through but but I actually enjoyed it very nice sounding band good songwriting.

I'd say my favorite song on the album is Walk On very much enjoyed that one.

    I'd give this album a solid B+

That's more of a testament to you being close-minded than the album being great.

I'll give this one a listen tonight.

You're right in a way over the years my tolerance for shitty rap has gone to almost 0 It seems the older I get the more I want to hear real singing instead of just talking and want to hear real instruments being played

Nash, I get that your pick was a bit of a sentimental choice and I won't rail on them too hard since they're your boys, but this just isn't very good. It's very warm at heart, but it just lacks anything at all to stand out. Has no enthusiasm and almost everything sounds the same. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
