State of the FWA #3: Tag Team Tournament Pairings Revealed

FWA STATE OF THE ADDRESS #3

Cameron Cross, Thomas Princeton and Daniella Kennedy are sitting around a table, with a basic backdrop behind them. Cross is in the middle, with Princeton and Daniella on either side. All three are dressed to impress and look ready, with the camera rolling.

Cameron Cross: Thank you for joining the third edition of our State of the FWA show. We are on the heels of the Payback PPV. A LOT to discuss there, but this show is about BREAKING NEWS. The tag team tournament pairings have been released. You can find them ... here ... first. It'll flood social media, but you can only get them from us for the next five minutes.

Thomas Princeton: As a former tag team champion and a leader of the best stable in FWA history, I am hyped for this. Thrilled. Finally, we will get some challengers for The Elite.

Daniella Kennedy: The Elite defeated The Undisputed Alliance and The Valanders at Payback. It wasn't easy, but The Elite proved they're the best. Now let's hear it. And we can go through Payback fallout with each team revelation.

Cameron Cross: To start ... we have FOUR predetermined, preformed tag teams.

    The Elite, the reigning champs.

    The Valanders.

    The Undisputed Alliance.

And we got this in at the deadline for tag teams before the random drawing.

The reigning FWA World Champion ... Dave Sullivan. And he's with ... his former protege ... Ty Johnson.

Thomas Princeton: Dave Sullivan and Ty Johnson. How intriguing.

Cameron Cross: Now ... the FIRST team ...

    GABRIELLE MONTGOMERY

    and

    ALYSTER BLACK

Daniella Kennedy: That ... that is intriguing. Remember their interaction from Payback?

Cameron Cross: Alyster Black put up a hell of a fight but ultimately lost to Dave Sullivan at Payback for the World title. Gabrielle still holds the future championship match contract. Could this be a meeting of past and future for the top prize in the wrestling world?

Thomas Princeton: If Alyster Black competes like he did at Payback, this team could easily win the whole thing.

Cameron Cross: The next randomly drawn team ...

    "AMADEUS" KEVIN CROMWELL

    and

    "24K" NOVA DIAMOND

Daniella Kennedy: This team is all potential and youth. Energy. And they're friends. What a luck of the draw for them.

Thomas Princeton: Nova and Cromwell both coming off losses. I could see them finding their collective footing together, as partners. Just positive vibes for two who need them.

Cameron Cross: ... the third team ...

    Oh my god ...

    ...

You guys aren't going to believe this.

    Hold on to your chairs.

    KRASH

    and

    "THE PRODIGY" MIKE ... PARR

    Thomas Princeton: ...

    Daniella Kennedy: ...

Thomas Princeton: What?! This was random?!

Cameron Cross: This. Was. Completely. Random.

Daniella Kennedy: That is the highest-ceiling, lowest-floor team announced. We know their history. We saw what happened at Payback. They put one another through hell. And we all thought they were DONE with each other. They could run through this tournament like butter, or they could self-implode.

Thomas Princeton: They've already beaten The Elite once. They beat the champs!

Daniella Kennedy: That's a sore subject, Tom. Don't bring that up again.

    Thomas Princeton: Well ... I mean ... I don't blame them.

Cameron Cross: The fourth randomly drawn team is ...

    CYRUS TRUTH

    and

    ELI BLACK

Thomas Princeton: This is the truth of this tournament. Randomness. Have Cyrus Truth and Eli Black ever ... ever ... said each other's names? Is there any link between them?

Daniella Kennedy: What a random team. But in the same way, what an intriguing team. Like ... that might be the most intriguing yet. Cyrus with his losing streak that's not becoming unjustified. Eli Black with his mental demons. But he did win at Payback. And he is challenging for the X Championship in the triple threat match.

Cameron Cross: The next team ...

    MICHELLE VON HORROWITZ

    and

    GERALD GRAYSON

Thomas Princeton: This is NOT random. The X Champion and someone who is going to challenge her for that belt, along with Eli Black.

Daniella Kennedy: Grayson got his first FWA win at Payback. Now ... now he's teamed with the reigning X Champion? The same champion of the same title he wants to win? Oh man.

Cameron Cross: ... we have a return here! Our first surprise entrant. This is BREAKING NEWS.

    "ROCKSTAR" ... RANDY RAMON

    and

    "THE GOLDEN ONE" DEVIN GOLDEN

Thomas Princeton: "Rockstar" is back? Jesus. I feel for Golden.

Daniella Kennedy: Talk about hard feelings, eh, Tom? You can put that shovel away because your attempt to bury him isn't working.

Look, Ramon was ON when he was on. He's a former Tag Team Champion with Ayla El. He's teaming with a five-time Tag Team Champion. Golden just beat Kazadi at Payback in an "I Quit" match. Both are fan favorites.

Thomas Princeton: But for different reasons. It's intriguing, for sure, but it could be Golden proving reliable while Ramon is inconsistent. Another high-ceiling, low-floor team.

    Daniella Kennedy:
This is another random pairing, though.

Cameron Cross: And last ... the last randomly paired team ...

    "THE CARNEGIE CARNIVORE" MICHAEL GARCIA

    and

    KAYDEN KNOX

Thomas Princeton: In terms of size, the biggest team in the tournament.

Daniella Kennedy: Garcia has a World title shot against Sullivan. He finally broke through. He finally got the win he needed. The biggest of his career. Now ... can he tutor and mentor Kayden Knox into becoming a focused force of destruction?

Thomas Princeton: If so ... that team could be the hot pick to win it. I don't know how any team could outmuscle them.

Cameron Cross: Alright. Early thoughts. Who wins? Hot takes. I want them. I NEED THEM!

Thomas Princeton: Hot take ... it's a toss-up for me between Nova Diamond and Kevin Cromwell ... and Michael Garcia and Kayden Knox.

The first is two friends. They'll have chemistry. More than any others randomly drawn.

The second is just a team of brute force. I think that's enough to put them far.

Daniella Kennedy: I'm going with The Elite. The champs will win this thing. But if we're wanting a randomly drawn team ... how about some chaos? Krash and Mike Parr.

Thomas Princeton: You're insane. There's no way.

Cameron Cross: I'm tossing Michelle von Horrowitz and Gerald Grayson into the mix. I think it'll be them or The Elite.

Folks ... it was a pleasure. Thank you for joining. The Tag Team Tournament is fast-approaching. It's time to spew takes for the next few days until the first round!

    Teams in the tournament:

The Elite (c) (Noah Stocke and Trevor Ocean)

The Undisputed Alliance (Nate Savage and Jackson Fenix)

The Valanders (Louis and Mike Valander)

BlackJack ("The King" Dave Sullivan and Ty Johnson)

    Gabrielle Montgomery and Alyster Black

"24K" Nova Diamond and "Amadeus" Kevin Cromwell

Krash and "The Prodigy" Mike Parr

Cyrus Truth and "The Artist of Chaos" Eli Black

Michelle von Horrowitz and Gerald Grayson

"Rockstar" Randy Ramon and "The Golden One" Devin Golden

"The Carnegie Carnivore" Michael Garcia and Kayden Knox

    Yes, this was random.

No, I would not have Parr and Krash teaming if I was handpicking teams. The Payback match was intended to be the end.

Yes, that team is scary good.

So much potential for story and character development with these pairings! I love it. Garcia and Knox are gonna be scary together. Krash and Parr might have the highest shot to win, and Gabrielle and Black is perfect after the opening segment of Payback.

Black Caramel is going all the way!!What a stacked field. I can’t pick a favourite to take this thing out, so many teams that could. Nice blend of teams with some history to draw on and teams with no history.

Re: State of the FWA #3: Tag Team Tournament Pairings Revealed

I see this tournament as a "put up or shut up" moment for the champions. Since coming to FWA they've been asking for a spotlight to be put on the tag-team division. Well, now they've got it and if I were a betting man, I'd wager that out of all of these teams entered, the odds aren't high for them to walk out the winners.

These are some strong pairings, but it'll be interesting to see who's actually able to work with and off of one another to produce the same quality content that they do as a singles star.
