Admittedly, I don't want James Wan helming Aquaman. He hasn't done anything that would make me think he could re-establish Aquaman in the eyes of the general public - most comic book nerds know Aquaman is a bad ass - and make a legitimately good super hero movie.

D.C is so smart let's bring together the Justice League and if the movie does well the solo films make mad money for the company. James Wan is a name that makes money right now, so if he does take the Aquaman project, it will have plenty of action going on.

This movie clearly needs James Cameron.

It really looks like more of the same from this whole DC Extended Universe. It seems like they have all been okay to decent for the first bit but then it devolves into absurd ugly CGI apocalyptic style battles against armies of enemies.

Selling things up the river again I see. First Trailer and I'm happy from what I saw from this far.

When you're trying to create a world under the Sea, you are going to go crazy with the CGI, but the Movie drops in December so theirs plenty of time to tweak it and perfect the world they want to create. I don't see beating out Wonder Woman numbers wise, but this should be fun and a solid watch.

I remember the last Trailer being in awe of what I saw, and this Extended Trailer had me wanting so much more especially when they showed us a few Action Scenes being played out and me loving the feel what was going on. Even that last shot of Aquaman oh yes.

Watched this today and can't say enough good things about this. Such a fun film and have to say for me this film definitely beat DC Movies' villain problem as of late. Loved it!

    Re: Aquaman (2018)

Let me get the bad out of the way first; the CGI battles between massive armies that just have too much going on to really see anything at all and look like a kids drawing of what war might look like... and really that's it. Everything else is great fun but there's also a wealth of emotional depth and character development. I'd happily take less CGI battles (even though they are important to the setting up the story) and have more time at the start establishing Arthur's parents as a couple but the film wants to get you into Arthur's story so that get's sacrificed and honestly I'm okay with that for the most part.

Jason Mamoa is excellent as himself in the role - and that's not me throwing shade at the guy, he makes me love Arthur. I really enjoyed his chemistry with Amber Heard's Mera and having Patrick Wilson as his half brother and making him the bad guy rather than some over-sized CGI nonsense villain was always the best choice. I also really liked how they leaned in hard on all the costumes for the characters and Black Manta and Aquaman especially look fantastic.

Wonder Woman was more important on a societal level because of what that represented and that story MIGHT be stronger but the ending drops of a cliff for me and this film is way more consistent throughout and a lot more fun to watch. I'd stand this up against anything in the MCU for sure. The DCEU finally found their funny bone and their heart. Here's hoping that continues.

    Re: Aquaman (2018)

Saw this today and actually quite enjoyed myself. It's long and stuffed to the gills, but mostly worth it for Arthur Curry's character arc. They did a very good job setting him up as an Aquaman I can believe, and there's a fair of great stuff included from Aquaman lore for the dorks like me.

DC still has some work to do to catch up to MCU's standard of quality but they're getting farther and farther away from BvS/Suicide Squad level dreck and I'm about ready to start being optimistic about their next few movies.

    Re: Aquaman (2018)

He was once the punch line for jokes when it came to the Justice League back in the day, now after this film I hope that reception has changed. Jason Mamoa as Aquaman was great in this film, he didn't want to be King, but he didn't want to see both sides Land and Sea be destroyed by War. CGI heavy or not I loved the scope and environment that was create in this, making me want to ride a Shark right now if I had the power to. I thought Orm and Arthur's relationship and stance on things was done beautifully, which is why it ends how it ends. Even Black Manta goofy look or not looked great and was faithful to the Manta I saw in the Comics as well as the classic Aquaman look.

I like to see someone else come from the Throne or try to hurt the Land or Sea not with those powers Aquaman hell naw
