    Re: MMA Random Discussion Thread

I really dont think it hurts the UFC at all if Khalabeeb walks. He's got some fame off of beating Conor and being a thug post fight but ultimately he's still a nobody. No one outside the most hardcore of hardcore MMA fans gave two shits about him before this fight.

The UFC just admit they're a carny second rate sport if they allow people to jump into the cage and swing on people, and vice versa. They have to come down on Khalabeeb and his idiot bros, and Conor and his as well. Firing a nobody for getting in the cage after a fight and hitting a guy who has just had a fight is a no brainer, if Khabib walks, then let him walk. Book Conor v Ferguson for the belt and you either get Conor his buzz back or have the buzz of Tony beating Conor.

I did sort of get the feeling Conors heart wasn't in it like it used to be. He got overwhelmed by Khabib yes but he seemed pretty content to just go along with it.

Bellator always produces the best Knee KOs.

The potential of the HW GP final being LHW Bader v MW Sonnen is pretty depressing though. Hopefully the WW one works out better.

Khabib, who has been called by many a non-striking threat, stood in front of one of the most prolific strikers in UFC history and devoured his soul.

Khabib didn't throw a great deal on the stand up though. Not from what I remember. If you actually look at the stats of the fight: it's closer than you think. Khabib landed alot of his damage on the ground. I think Conor definitely could've put him away on the feet eventually. Khabib is still extremely sloppy... which works both ways. I think the punch that put Conor down is over-exaggerated in terms of how much it hurt Conor. It was barely even a proper knock down. It was just shocking. But in MMA, the gap in striking sometimes doesn't matter. Chael Sonnen wobbled Anderson Silva multiple times. Gokhan Saki nearly got KOed by a nobody and did get finished by Rountree. These things happen dawg. Don't think Khabib's stand up has improved all that much.

Regarding Dak's (hilarious) thoughts that Conor didn't take this fight seriously... John Kavanaugh has already explained the problem was that they had too much of a defensive gameplan. So you'd expect to see a more aggressive Conor in the rematch. I think McGregor's heart was in the fight. I wouldn't say he was content to just go along with it - he clearly tried his best to stuff takedowns and get to the feet. He just didn't throw as much because he feared the takedown. He did have some success when Khabib slowed in the 3rd though. McGregor got clipped alot on the ground and on the feet. He could've been finished in the second... so he was probably just insanely sapped.

Bader smoked Mitrione last night. That was disgusting. Bellator has been doing well recently.

Also LOL isn't 50 Cent bankrupt?

I wasn't really suggesting that khabib outstruck Conor. Moreover that he wrestlefucked Conor's energy away which allowed him to stand in front of Conor. He didn't have to fear that left hand which took a huge element of Conor's game away. People fear it or get overconfident and stand and get destroyed. Khabib, outside of the 3rd, dominated the fight and Conor lost enough stamina that it would have taken a pretty devastating shot to come back and while I certainly believe Conor will always have that brief chance no matter what, he was so visibly weak.

And I disagree on the right hand. It was a monster overhand that hit Conor flush and definitely rocked him. He recovered nicely and it was certainly shocking but that showed Conor that Khabib could bang. Changed the game imo

Fedor. Still the fighter of my heart after all these years. I wasn't that hyped when he came back because I wasn't sure he would do well but still Fedor.
