Re: 9th Anniversary promo discussion thread

Um.... Which Sunday/Monday? I mean, I'm presuming you mean 7th/8th, but without a specific Sunday/Monday stated, it could be the 7th/8th, 14th/15th, etc. Not being nit-picky, just looking out for the potential for someone to claim that they still had time to get it in as it didn't specify which Sunday/Monday.

FYI, Matt's clock thing is 24 hours ahead of the actual promo deadline. I'm leaving it since it may trick people into getting their shit done early.

Re: 9th Anniversary promo discussion thread

Darryl Digby: I am really liking this character. There is so much you can do with it and you have already started to add real depth to this character can't wait to see more from you.

Beatrixx Black: It's good to have you back! You have been a fantastic opponent and this feud has been one of the highlights if not THE highlight of the Saddle Sally career. Well done promo that went into some deep territory and continued to paint a picture of this great character while also going after mine with vigor. Looking forward to our match, it's going to be fun!

Gabrielle: This was a very surprising promo but in a good way. Gabrielle usually doesn't talk like this. Yes she's always been self reflective but this view point and this topic of her status in the FWA was really moving and touching in ways I never imagined. I could imagine myself watching this promo on TV and feeling for Gabby and just how she sees herself and her place in the fed. This was coincidentally a similar theme I took with my Princeton promo this PPV though much different in execution and take on historical gratitude and placement. This promo had the energy, depth and atmosphere that people should take note of.

Randy Ramon: What a fun character! Good back and forth dialogue that was both funny but also didn't cheapen your wrestler and the importance of the match. It did go on a bit long but I really did enjoy it and feel that there is a lot of potential with this guy.

Frank Blaze: Another strong rookie character, good introduction of your relationship with Sam and I like that you are incorporating nGw into your rps. This promo at times felt a bit dry so watch our for over explaining and dragging on against points that don't really go anywhere but overall this was a solid rp and continued your character building and expanded the universe of the FWA at the same time so kudos for that.

Jack of Diamonds: Good pump up promo but also quirky (in a good way) at times that added personality to a match already bursting at the seams with talent and big egos. This was sharp, well done and fit great with your character's style and motivations. Great work!

Jason Gryphon: I promise I had not read your rp until after writing my own and it's funny because I make a war games joke in my promo briefly. This was good you took the theme of the match, took a pop culture reference then spun it and made it your own and it was fun, engaging, tense and had a fire to it that I can't fully explain but it was good and made me really care about this match and Gryphon. And lol "jack-hole"

Ghost: Pretty decent rp, got me more insight into Ghost as a person and as a wrestler but was lacking some meat on the bones here. In a good way I wanted more and there wasn't much here, sort of understandable but I think you could have added a bit more depth and gravitas to this promo. Also "downward spiral to your own downfall" or something of that nature not to be nit picky but that line just really bothered me. I imagine Ghost would just speak more eloquently or even more straight forward than that but it just sounded weird for some reason. But that's being nit picky, this was pretty good.

Drew Stevenson: Flowers and gardens are rarely (but sometimes) used in FWA rps and you did a good job here using botany and the idea of new birth and fresh life. It was a standard perspective to take but you gave it a fresh albeit obvious theme and made it yours. I mean that as a high compliment this could have felt very run of the mill, very dry but you added spice to it, you framed it nicely and you really went after your opponents in an effective manner that managed to hold the theme and make it very enjoyable. At times the theme swayed to almost kicking a dead horse but your rp skills are great and you kept it balanced and sensible.

Prince Abdullah Assad: Felt like I was reading someone gunning for the North American title here this had a lot of heart and really drove home the character's motives hard. This was a biting and fiery promo that held nothing back but never went over the top and that's hard to do. You made Assad seem larger than life and exceptionally talented with just his words and I admire that, bare minimalist rp in terms of setting and actions and I liked that a lot. Great job, really liked reading this one.

Desmond Fox: The language was a little fresh for a promo that hinged on religion so much even if it's a very skewed perspective on religion. That being said it did fit the character and stayed true to his persona and motives. It was dark, mean, fierce and a bit humorous right when it needed to be. Fox is a crazy character, crazy like a fox and he's one of those guys I think can have a huge impact in the future of the FWA. I mean he's tailor made for any type of feud.

Reviews of my rp work is always appreciated.

Thanks Matt, appreciate the review. And I can attest to that down here in the south, the more "Christian" you are, the more profane you are, especially with slurs and what not.

Thanks Matt. I owe you a review and I will give you one and most other people as well. I've never really been good with settings I have to work on that I can talk the shit out of people just need to do the settings better. The promos I have seen so far are really good by the way.

Re: 9th Anniversary promo discussion thread

Thanks Matt. I want to try and review every promo at this PPV but at the very least will review anyone who reviews my promo.

Thomas Princeton: As some one who has used Gabrielle's dynamic with her own daughter quite often in promos I really enjoyed the opening to this promo. It gave us a real emotional look at Thomas Princeton. Dropping the arrogance, the money, everything else for a second and showing us the family man behind it all. And that is something that was really present throughout the entire promo, in alot of Thomas's words there was him reflecting upon his family, and it gave the whole promo a really important feeling. I will say though the main part of the promo was quite formulaic, and basic pretty much just running down the list of opponents and partners alike. But the aforementioned emotional aspect to it, which you referenced again here and there helped break that up and keep the emotion of Tom fighting for his daughter and missing his family. Its less so with Thomas, Zaire and Sally have always had a stronger individual voice or style but I constantly get this idea of swagger and ego reading Princeton promos. You do just enough here to give him his own voice and its something that's always helped your work stand out a bit, there's this constant feeling that Tom holds himself above everyone else. This was a really good old era promo, Thomas praised himself and his cohorts work in building the FWA up, and giving the new era somewhere to compete. The ending was unexpected for a Princeton promo, but fit this one very well with the strong emotional aspect to it. That little moment of weakness makes him real and makes we want to see him win.

Re: 9th Anniversary promo discussion thread

Thanks matt. I'm enjoying working on this character, it's nice to be receiving so much positive feedback about him.

Shawn- Really liked your promo, but Digby couldn't be more different than Jarvis Tate. Tate was straight up crazy, Digby just doesn't give a ****. Good Job all around.

I've enjoyed reading all the promos here over the last couple weeks and it's awesome to see so much talent in one place.

Lookin forward to the PPV results. Again, thanks for me having me along.

Re: 9th Anniversary promo discussion thread

I know that my Promo is shorter and not like how I will usually make them. I've been working for almost 14 days straight without a day off. My next day off isn't until this Friday, in which it will have been 14 days since my last Day off. So, I am physically, mentally, etc exhausted and burnt out.

Thane - Bro that was one hell of a promo I hope we can work together more in the future. Just get yourself a tag partner preferably. I was blown away by your quality I don't write reviews as a rule because I'm still new and don't know all the characters well enough and their feuds but I'm beyond impressed with your progress.

Ramon & Digby - You two are solid friends and I thank god we've kept in touch all these years and you both delivered great quality work I can't wait to see how your match turns out.

Yo TGO, sorry I haven't been too active on reviews and such, but I took your advice on not using pictures. I dunno. Just feels kind of sparse to me... Empty. I owe you a huge review and I'll definately try to hit you up tomorrow on it. I can't promise I'll have time/energy to review everyones promos, but if you want a review. Let me know.

Re: 9th Anniversary promo discussion thread

My promo was late and I'll take the hit on points no problem. No excuse really, just couldn't get the font and presentation sorted (still not happy with the presentation) and I must've re-written the promo about 15 times. Get a bit obsessive unfortunately! Anyway best of luck to all my opponents, some impressive reading! Doing reviews upon request btw!
