    Re: The Jungle Book (2018)

Andy Serkis' Jungle Book: Origins is now simply Jungle Book...

Just to add to the confusion a little more about the competing Jungle Book projects on the go, Warner Bros has renamed its own upcoming movie, from the previously announced Jungle Book: Origins. Instead, the movie is now going by the simpler moniker of Jungle Book – which clashes nicely with Disney’s The Jungle Book, that hits UK cinemas this Friday.

Granted, Jungle Book isn’t set to arrive in cinemas until October 2018, but by then, Disney is expected to be moving ahead on The Jungle Book 2, with Jon Favreau set to return to direct.

As for Warner Bros’ Jungle Book, that’s the one that Andy Serkis is directing, with the voice talent of Benedict Cumberbatch and Cate Blanchett, amongst others. Heaven knows, if a sequel to it happens, what it’ll end up being called…

More on the assorted Jungle Books in due course…
    Wow this isn't confusing haha.

    Re: The Jungle Book (2018)

Fucking Warner Bros. How they manage to be a film studio at all baffles me. Not only do they greenlight a project that is EXACTLY the same as one at a competing studio they first schedule it to arrive just after that same film, then delay it and re-name it from the only-just-different-enough title they had before to the EXACT same title as the Disney version.

I like Favreau and Serkis, and I grew up on the Jungle Book, so I do want both of these to be a success... but seriously, do we need two Jungle Book franchises competing for cinematic real estate at the same time?
