I like the whole underground atmosphere they've gone for, and the build up videos have got me wanting to see more. Should be a fun project.

I'll be watching, though expectations are pretty low admittedly. Hope it goes well. If you love heel authority figures, intergender matches, and Ricochet this definitely appears to be your ticket.

I'm oddly optimistic about this. Worst case it's just incredibly wacky.

Like Zero, I'm not as hyped as others for this thing, but I'll probably check it out for Mundo/Puma.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode. All the matches were enjoyable The Presentation was cool and different. Liked the commentary. And the Main event was pretty good as well.

This show is basically ran the same as AAA with a bunch of indy guys replacing a lot of the better/worse Mexican guys. But really the last two big "authentic Lucha" shows were so much better than anything that company or this American spinoff will ever produce it's unreal and that sort of programming actually has legs if it's marketed right.

Still I admit there's potential for an upper tier company in today's Indy market and maybe even a fun overall TV product. But we saw how well that worked for WSX in the grand scheme of things.

While I agree, WSX had a lot of issues that this company won't deal with.

    MTV was a bitch

    First impressions:

Wrestling is american so it should be fine for everyone to get into. Main was a lot of fun even if I'm not a huge Ricochet guy.

The movie stuff was a little iffy but some if it, like the Puma vid, was cool.

Overall I dug it. Nothing out of this world awesome but still cool and I appreciate the production which is so much better than ROH's.

Re: Lucha Underground - TV Premiere 10/29/14

The debut episode was a mixed bag. The production levels were great. It looked better than any American company with the exception of the WWE. While a little wacky, I liked the movie-like segments. By booking the company as if it's a movie, you're actually able to form some semblance of kayfabe. It was easy to be sucked into the story, rather than it just being a normal wrestling company where they don't even pretend everything is real. Heel authority figures in 2014 are lame, but Dario Cueto makes it work since it's done in a very different manner.

Unfortunately, all of these praises are negatives when it comes to the matches. Due to how they film the matches, it fails miserably. All of the matches felt too polished. The best example of this was the terrible Chavo/Blue Demon match where they kept editing out the botches and randomly showing crowd or commentary shots. The way they film the matches makes it difficult to be absorbed into it all. At various points in all three matches, I lose track of where they're at. Basically, it's like watching a wrestling match in a movie. It's neat that they're trying to present a wrestling show in a very different manner from everyone else, but when it comes to filming the actual matches, you really shouldn't mess with what works.

Even a match like Johnny Mundo vs Prince Puma, all it accomplished was make me search around to see if they worked any matches elsewhere, so I could see a proper match between the duo. What's the deal, Gabe? Y u no booked this?!

Overall, it mostly just reminds me of WSX. A different approach at wrestling, but one I don't see lasting long.

Re: Lucha Underground - TV Premiere 10/29/14

Eh. They did cut to the announcers way too much, but the camera cuts improved as the show went on.

That could be just because Chavo/Blue Demon JR had a lot more to cut out, maybe
