    - Kazushi Sakuraba appearance

Any early predictions on who will be in the finals? What about preferred opponents for the four ROH guys on the final night? Personally, I'm hoping they don't just do the predictable match and book reDRagon vs Young Bucks. While there's not a lot of options for junior tag teams, I think I'd rather see what reDRagon and Time Splitters can do together. Cole's a tough one. Do you put him against someone in the tournament, a random junior or someone entirely different? As for Bennett, I'd love to see Suzuki just kill the poor kid.

Re: The Official Puro Discussion Thread

I see they are continuing their theme of Group A great, Group B not so great from last year

Ishii, Tanahashi, Nakamura, Ibushi, Shibata and Nagata should be able to put on some great matches together.

3 Bullet Club members in Group B, yeesh. There's not much to get excited about for an Okada fan either about that block; I've had enough of him Vs Bullet Club, we've seen him against Goto and Naito this year, him and Suzuki always fall short of expectations.

Gimme AJ vs. Goto, Suzuki, and Naito, and Block B is a success.

Re: The Official Puro Discussion Thread

In all honesty, these blocks both are pretty underwhelming. And worst of all, poor Goto in Block B. Barren of talent maybe. Even the good in Block A are all rematches more or less. There's a couple of matches I'm looking forward to, I think Ibushi and Shibata should be interesting, but even then I don't like Ibushi going heavyweight. Their junior heavyweight division is thin and they need more guys dedicated to it, especially true stars. Ishii & Goto should carry their blocks, with good matches against as many as possible and Goto vs Naito could easily be my most anticipated match of the whole thing. Naito's really won me over of late. Anyway i'd like it to come down to Ishii vs. Goto, but it's more likely someone like Nak comes out of Block A to try to win this and the NJC this year.

As expected, the ROH guys add nothing except another bad match on what's likely to be a very bloated card with 22 guys in the tournament.

Block B sucks a fat one. Block A has Ishii vs Shibata (again), vs Ibushi II, vs Nakamura, vs Gallows, as well as Ibushi vs Shibata and vs Nakamura (again), and Shibata vs Nakamura. The you also have Nagata and Tanahashi there too.

Re: NJPW G1 Climax XXIV Discussion

Surprised you didn't pull all the comments about the blocks from the Puro thread to create this one.

In short, Block A eats Block B for breakfast and has the potential for the better matches. Ishii has been the New Japan MVP so far this year with his NEVER title defences ending up as the matches you need to check out; him Vs Shibata and Hashi , rematches from last year all the same, should rule. Having Nakamura in Block A gives him some very interesting ties against Ishii and Shibata that we didn't get last year. My fear for the Tournament is Bullet Club ruining 5 matches per night. Surprised YOSHI-HASHI didn't make it in as he's improved this year, I'd have subbed him for the terrible Tenzan.

As for predictions. For a while now I've thought that the WK9 main event was going to be the long awaited Okada Vs Nakamura match, I don't see AJ still holding that belt come January, so one of Naka and Okada is going to win this to prove me right. If they do decide to be lame and have AJ hold for another 6 months, then Tanahashi getting the title off him at WK is a decent bet. My money's on Nakamura seeing as he isn't IC champion anymore.

Couldn't care less about the ROH appearances on the last night, if Adam Cole was in the G1 I'd give a fuck, but otherwise they'll be doing nothing special. I've heard reDRagon Vs Time Splitters tbf.

Re: NJPW G1 Climax XXIV Discussion

I'm rather surprised to see Tenzan in this again. Forget about Tenzan sucking so badly when he's on his own. Dude's body couldn't take all of the work, got injured and missed a few months afterward. It's sorta impressive that he's been involved in so many G1's (18th one by my count - perhaps the record for most appearances?), but it's a waste to have him in the tournament and taking a risk for Tenzan to get hurt again.

Seeing Adam Cole in the tournament would have been great.

Re: NJPW G1 Climax XXIV Discussion

I would have taken like four guys out because they really drag the whole tournament down imo. YOSHI-HASHI's okay, but I really would have liked Honma to get a shot. He's been in probably Ishii's best match this year, an awesome tag at Dominion and is just a great lovable underdog. Also he could lose all of his matches except for 1 and be fine. Would pick him, YOSHI-HASHI, Captain New Japan and get rid of Tenzan and Gallows & Gun and the tournament would be much improved.

Not surprising, but that's the exact match that should be put on for reDRagon.

I could see Nakamura making the finals but may not take it. He's too obvious of a choice, as he's the heir apparent to the IWGP title. They might go for Ishii or an interesting choice, Karl Anderson.

Re: NJPW G1 Climax XXIV Discussion

I think the biggest news going in regards to the G1 Climax at the moment is whether or not we're even going to be able to see the shows. With every show on Ustream last year, the shows came online fairly quickly. IIRC, it took a long time before the finals and one or two nights to pop up in 2012.

I've been wanting to get into Japanese Promotions, and I'm guessing that this isn't a bad place to start. I've seen Okada, Styles, Benjamin, Smith Jr. and Archer, but they're mainly the North American talent. Which of the Japanese guys should I look out for?

Nakamura, Ishii and Tanahashi will likely be your main three having good matches.

Re: NJPW G1 Climax XXIV Discussion

Oh God, If Anderson wins this tournament I'll never watch this promotion again.

I would certainly say Goto & Shibata (Although Goto is stuck in Block B with less talent, but him vs Naito/Makabe/Okada should be good-great, maybe Styles if Bullet Club stays out of it) Also for an American-style fan Ibushi's worth watching as well.

The Finals and whichever shows air on Samurai TV should be out relatively quickly (the week of and whatnot, just like NOAH shows) the rest are anyone's guess, but it's possible they get released.

Karl Anderson would be interesting but so would Zack Ryder winning the King of the Ring. Just no.

With just a few days before the tournament is set to begin, Kota Ibushi has been pulled due to an injury. His replacement hasn't been named yet.

    Any predictions for Ibushi's sub?
