Well, yeah, I mean, The Wizard of Oz, Frankenstein, King Kong, Gone With the Wind, Dracula, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Public Enemy, Scarface, Freaks...there's a lot of good from way back then. Perhaps I'll toy with the idea of doing one for the decade itself, once I'm caught up to 2011 mind you.

WC's Fave Five Movies - The Decades Project~!

I'd be all for doing the 60s and 70s. I really just wanna do 1979 so I can make Apocalypse Now my #1 and shit on Kramer vs. Kramer.

FUCK man. I've been doing my lists in advance. The next couple years (1990 and 1991) should be pretty easy for me, but after that, every year from 1992 onward is difficult as shit. I'm leaving out at least five to ten awesome movies each year. I feel so bad.

Re: WC's Fave Five Movies - The Decades Project~!

Yeah. Fucking mid 90's are hard. I'm on 2011 and 2012 right now and it's impossible. I'm leaving like 10 amazing films off no matter what I choose.

edit - These are my finalists for 2012 and I'm still going.

    Skyfall
    Amazing Spiderman
    The Dark Knight Rises
    The Place Beyond the Pines
    Chronicle
    21 Jump Street
    The Dictator
    Ted
    Premium Rush
    End of Watch
    Perks of Being a Wallflower
    Looper
    Argo
    Flight
    Django Unchained

editx2- Fuck, forgot we already did 2012 and 2013. We should redo those at the end since I've seen so much more stuff since then. =/ Especially since there weren't that many voters early on.

Re: WC's Fave Five Movies - The Decades Project~!

I was gonna say lets the 70s next but when I went to do the lists I realized I haven't seen nearly enough from that decade to do each year. I was only able to do like half of the decade. But with the 90s I've completed every year relatively easily so I vote for the 90s.

Re: WC's Fave Five Movies - The Decades Project~!

We'll be continuing on into the 90's and then do the 00's to catch up with the lists that are already done. After that, I'll figure out whether to go all the way back to the 30's or work backwards from the 70's. Given that not a lot of people here have seen a ton of movies from the 30's and 40's, perhaps just a Fave Five from each decade (or two five year periods) would suffice? What do the 30's and 40's movie fans think about that?

As much as I'd like to do every year in the 30's and 40's, yeah it'll be hard. Looking through there's several years that I wouldn't have five for, although if we did do every year it'd give me an excuse to watch more movies from that era to fill out my lists.

Yeah I already had a look too and I think a fav five for the decade or 5 year period would work best. I haven't seen a ton from the 30's and 40's... actually not even a whole ton from the 50's and 60's either, but I have been watching a ton of that type of movie lately so by the time we get there I'd probably be able to get my lists in.

I'll consider it as we get closer. I think the lists are alright as they are but if the majority of people participating want a redo then we'll do it.

They're not bad, but I know for myself my list would be completely different now. That, and hardly anyone was voting early on anyway b

We're allowed to include docs on these lists right? If not I'ma have to alter my 91 list.

Yep, they count. For what it's worth, I'm strongly considering Hearts of Darkness as well.

Any chance I get to shoehorn something Apocalypse Now related in a list I'll do it. I even have Redux on my 2001 list.

Hey Fuji if you wanna be super neat, you should link to all the threads in the OP so we can go back and see the rest of the lists more easily.

I'll even do it for you if you're feeling too lazy or whatever.
