ECW from 2009 and 2010 is going up, which means Christian's title reign will be available. Citizens, this is must-see

Re: WWE Network General Discussion Thread

Yesterday the WWE Network added a nice little variety of old WWE house shows including some LA Sports Arena shows. For whatever odd reason, I tend to love those shows due to the decent cards and the fact that the ring setup is just a bit different from the other main house shows.

    LA Sports Arena - August 13, 1988

Randy Savage (c) vs Andre the Giant - WWE World Title
The Hart Foundation vs The Rougeau Brothers
    Jake Roberts vs Rick Rude
The Blue Angel (Owen Hart's original name for Blue Blazer) vs Barry Horowitz - These two tended to have really good lowkey undercard matches

    LA Sports Arena - December 17, 1988

Hulk Hogan vs The Big Boss Man
Demolition (c) vs The Powers of Pain - WWE Tag Titles
    Greg Valentine vs Tito Santana

    Boston Garden - March 8, 1986

Hulk Hogan and Junkyard Dog vs The Funk Brothers
Randy Savage (c) vs Tito Santana - WWE IC Title
    Bret Hart vs Ricky Steamboat - (Jim's rating - *** 1/2)
The Crush Girls vs Judy Martin and Donna Christianello - The Crush Girls in the WWE!
Bull Nakano and Dump Masamoto vs Velvet McIntyre and Dawn Marie

Certainly worth checking out if you're a fan of Joshi.

    Boston Garden - August 9, 1986

Hulk Hogan and George Steele vs Randy Savage and Adrian Adonis
Ricky Steamboat vs Jake Roberts - (Jim's rating - *** 3/4; best Jake Roberts match that I've ever seen)
Tito Santana vs Bob Orton Jr.
    ---

Since there wasn't a Boston Garden event in July 1986, you can now watch every Boston Garden show from 1986.

Re: WWE Network General Discussion Thread

The WWE Network added two new collections today. The first is one for Kurt Angle, none of which is really worth mentioning as it's all stuff already on the Network. The other new collection is Hidden Gems #3. Some highlights include:

The British Bulldogs vs The Rock 'n' Roll Express - 1989

The nice thing is it's in beautiful quality since it's taken from the AWA TV version of the match. The downside is that the AWA TV version is joined in progress. We're only shown about 10 minutes of a 30 minute match. If you look online, you can find the full match.

Dusty Rhodes vs Big Steel Man (Tugboat/Typhoon) - PWF 1989

This is from the short lived Florida company that Dusty created after leaving WCW at the end of 1988, but before coming to the WWE in the summer of 1989.

Sting vs Bruiser Mastino (Kane) - WCW 1993

A pretty popular hidden gems sort of match that has been all over the internet for the last decade. I believe WC's Youtube account even added this at one point.

Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels - UPW 2001

You're not shown much of the match, so it's just sorta nice to see the randomness.

Scott Hall vs Justin Credible - ECW 2000

From after Hall was finally released by WCW, but before ECW/WCW went out of business. This is another popular hidden gem that has been around the internet a lot in the past decade. I know I uploaded back in the days of Megaupload.

The Rock (c) vs Brock Lesnar vs Triple H - WWE

From the Global Warning tour in 2002. A show I'm a bit surprised wasn't added in the PPV section yet.

CM Punk vs Val Venis - WWE 2005

A popular hidden gems match from Heat in 2005.
    ---

Truthfully, it's not an amazing set as most were just popular Youtube finds a decade ago. I hope this is a temporary thing, but the WWE Hidden Gems section is currently missing set #1 and set #2, both were far more interesting collections than this current one.

    *Edit*

Looks like all old Hidden Gems sets are now moved into their own section in The Vault so it's easier to tell which is the new set of Hidden Gems.

Yikes!!! an edited match on the network. This collection looks pretty bad. The only match i wanted to see was the Bulldogs vs RNR Express. JIP is lame.

Now I'm really looking forward to that Unreleased DVD collection 1986-1995.

Re: WWE Network General Discussion Thread

Two new house shows have been added to the WWE Network:

    Philly Spectrum - Nov 24, 1983

Bob Backlund (c) vs The Iron Sheik - WWE World Title
Tito Santana vs Big John Studd
Ivan Koloff vs Pat Patterson - BLOOD~!
Don Muraco and Capt. Lou vs Jimmy Snuka and Arnold Skaaland

A bit of an interesting show especially with an 80's Backlund defense against Sheiky Baby that didn't result in Sheik winning the title. The tag match focuses on one of the biggest feuds of 1983 with Snuka vs Muraco.

    LA Sports Arena - July 15, 1988

    Jake Roberts vs Rick Rude
Andre the Giant vs Jim Duggan
Bobby Heenan vs The Ultimate Warrior
Los Conquistadors vs The Rockers (Jim's rating: ***)

It's a pretty short show and just okay. You can read my review of the show by clicking here.

Sounds like a bunch of WCCW was added too. I don't understand their scatter gun approach to releasing these old shows out of order with large gaps between episodes. Doesn't really encourage me to check them out.

I think at this point, they're mostly trying to fill in the gaps due to what an awful job at they did at uploading WCCW originally.

Provided no tapes are missing, there are fourteen episodes level for the first 161 to be complete. This includes episodes already added that were said to be lost. And they're a treasure trove, citizen.

Are the full years 1999-2007 for RAW/SD available to watch? I'm thinking of getting the Network again to rewatch those years.

A quick scan suggests virtually every episode of 1999-2007 Raw and SD are there, except the original broadcast version of the Chris Benoit tribute Raw for obvious reasons.

One thing that always gets me is it feels like the Network has been advertising 'over 8000' hours of content on it's signup page for the network for a long ass time. How haven't they hit 9000 yet.

    Thanks for the info!

And maybe they're waiting to hit 10,000 hours to make the change to that ad?

Yeah, I suppose that's a bigger milestone and would avoid the DBZ memes.

Re: WWE Network General Discussion Thread

Besides the Benoit Memorial, I know the Network is also missing a couple of Raws from 1997 that aired on Friday night due to the US Open they were called Friday Night's Main Event. I would think that sooner or later, they would be added since the Network has the special Thursday Raw Thursday from earlier in the year that featured HBK losing his smile. There's also the various shows like Summerslam Spectacular and March to Wrestlemania that were replayed and shortened from their original Sunday broadcast to fill the one hour time slot that Raw used to have.
