BREAKING NEWS: PWS Network closes, FWA's future uncertain

The Fantasy Wrestling Alliance's future is hanging like bait on a fishing rod.

The PWS Network, which owns the FWA and airs its weekly television programs Fight Night and Smash and also has a pay-per-view network for the wrestling company, shockingly and suddenly closed amid technical issues. The network has halted all shows, production and finances. In essence, it does not exist right now. There is no timeline for the network's revival.

The network's top-viewed and most profitable enterprise, the FWA, is now without a home for the first time in the company's eight-year history. There was backstage chatter about this development during the Mile High PPV this past weekend, but none of the wrestlers and very few of the higher-ups knew anything concrete. The current plan is to host Fight Night on a Youtube web stream, in addition to on FWA.com, as Youtube has aired the pre-PPV matches for the FWA since the middle of 2012. The FWA has built up enough revenue to support one show without any help from the actual ownership. Beyond this upcoming Fight Night, which features a champion-versus-champion match between new FWA World Champ Ryan Hall and FWA North American champ Shane McLean, there isn't any plan moving forward.

In short, the FWA could be dead within a week.

"We're all worried," said one wrestler, who wished to remain anonymous. "At this point, we're all putting out feelers for other job opportunities because the current belief is we're all on borrowed time and the clock will run out after this Fight Night."

The first thing that must happen to keep the FWA producing shows is for a new owner to purchase the company — one that either already is connected to a television and PPV network or one that can secure a deal rather quick to prevent any hiccups in Fight Night's weekly television schedule.

Former wrestler and X-Division champion Mike Mundane commented on his self-run Facebook page, which has 24 followers, about the news.

"Wonder how the monkeys will save the FWA this time. Maybe I'll host a car wash, raise enough money and buy the FWA for myself. All 'the purples' will be gone."

Some of the executives in charge of the FWA — and also some of the active roster members and even one current champion — are also high-up executives on the network, and there is a lot of uncertainty about the future of FWA's and PWS' relationship.

Maybe Divine should go back to the "old" gimmick to help get some money? And loved the Mundane comment! Why can't G-Rich just pay for everything? :P
