The Totally Random Movie Discussion Thread

Think of this as a little brother to the Horror Movie Discussion thread that we've got already. Basically, you can discuss whatever movie you've recently watched in here, regardless of genre. You also don't have to worry about giving it a review since there's already a thread for that, but it would be great if you could give your thoughts on whatever it is you're checking out right now. I'll get us started here...

I watched Copland this morning and forgot how much of an underrated gem it was. Probably up there with Sylvester Stallone's best performances and the supporting cast (which includes Ray Liotta, Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro, Robert Patrick and Michael Rapaport) are all amazing.

Finally saw Argo the other day and loved it. "It means Argo fuck yourself!" Walter White + Zeppelin makes for a great movie. Still would have preferred Django winning Best Picture but whatevs.

I watched that on Friday Night(have it on the hard drive) and I agree that it's a Underrated Gem that movie is a perfect example of why I will always prefer Stallone to Arnold Swarzenegger. Stallone could actually act and pull off a role like that Arnold Couldn't it's just too bad that even though it's one of his best pure acting jobs it didn't make that much money so it's often forgotten.

now more on topic lol I just saw The Eagles Movie called The History of the Eagles over the weekend and I loved it. Was always a Eagles Fan (especially Don Henley) but never knew a whole lot about their History and this Movie Covers it all From Glen Frey's Beginnings with Bob Seger to Frey and Henley meeting and playing in Linda Ronstadt's Band. This movie really sucks you in and let's you see the belly of the Eagles Beast first hand.

The one thing most that I took from this film though is I did lose a Lot of Respect for Glen Frey and have come to the conclusion that he is a complete Asshole when it comes to the circumstances behind Don Felder's Exit from the band in the early 2000's

If you've got the time when you're done, check out my review of it here...

    Jaws: The Revenge

Definitely one of my funnier efforts if I do say so myself.

I went to see G.I. Joe Retaliation with some friends yesterday, and I thought it was pretty awesome for the most part. Definitely better than the first film for sure, and I got a free movie poster of it afterwards.

Good fun, and tons of great action. The Rock was great in it, as was Bruce Willis and Ray Stevenson.

It did seem a tad short though, but otherwise it was good, mindless fun.

I saw the man with the iron fists few weeks ago (with Batista, Rza and Russel Crowe). It's a bit over the top Chinese action film. So anyone who's interested in these kinds of films should watch this

Watched Silver Linings Playbook on the plane back from NY. It's awesome. I don't say that often about rom coms either.

Didn't know Jennifer Lawrence was actually good.

It was the first thing I'd seen her in.

I just assumed she was a typically overhyped young actress who people only like because she's good looking.

American sitcom, extremely unfunny. You can't really say Lawrence was bad on the show given how horrendous the writing was.

She wasn't exactly amazing in The House at the End of the Street either. However, I don't think anyone could have made that shitfest work.

Insomnia. Damn good film. Only watched it for the first time last night.

It helps that Pacino, Williams and Swank are all totally awesome and can do no wrong in my book though (and the same applies to Nolan).

To be fair it's not like that's an unheard of opinion. I know people who just flat out don't like Nolan's Batman trilogy.

No I like them a lot but when people act like they're the absolute greatest thing ever I'm all like lolno. On a related note I just recently watched Following for the first time recently and I really liked it.

I'd consider it my favourite Nolan film if it had been entirely his to begin with, but its a remake. Still awesome though, Williams is particularly good as the villain, a role he always seems to play well. I'd say my all-time favourite Nolan film is still Memento, but Following is also pretty damn good.

Watched "Moving" with Richard Pryor this morning. Pryor was a funny guy, but he seems horribly miscast as an engineer trying to move to Idaho. The best part about the movie? King Kong Bundy making an appearance.

To be fair, I couldn't care less if Jennifer Lawrence was an awful actress, she's so attractive.

    OMFG SHE'S A GODESS

And on the Batman side of things, I have very mixed opinions about each film in the series. Batman Begins was quite good, a good start to the series and a brilliant setup to the next two. The Dark Knight was an amazing film, Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker blew me away, he was amazing. While The Dark Knight Rises had it's upsides, it didn't match up to TDK and had a lot of pivotal plot holes which I've argued before on this site so I'm not going into them again.
