WC Fantasy Prem - Head to Head Style

As most of you brits know, I have been getting into American fantasy sport this past year or so. I know most of you have cut it down, but trust me - it's ridiculously addictive. I totally understand if you'd rather muck about with Fantasy Prem, but interest in that nearly always wanes by mid season. With this, you are constantly facing a new opponent every week.

I have found a website that does a similar thing for the Premier League, and will be running a league from the start of next season. This is a real 'gauge of interest' thread. I will outline how it works for those who are unfamiliar.

We start with a draft - meaning only one of each player is available for the whole year. It's a basic serpentine system where picks will be decided using a random number generator. It works as follows for a mock draft of, say, me Ed and Crock. For the purpose of demonstration Crock is assigned 1st pick randomly, Ed is assigned 2nd pick and I am (of course) last.

    Crock - RVP
    Ed - Luis Suarez
Nash - Gareth Bale, Hatem Ben Arfa
    Ed - Leighton Baines
    Crock - Frank Lampard

and so on and so on.

Once the draft has been completed and the whole team has been picked (1 GK, 5 DF, 5 MF, 3 Strikers as it stands) , you face one specific opponent a week. e.g my fixtures would read:

    Nash vs Crock Week 1
    Nash vs Ed Week 2

You go directly head to head and the person with the most points that week gets a Win. Top 4 teams with the Most wins goes to the playoffs, with a winner at the end who gets a prize of some sort. I'll figure that out once I see if people care or not.

There's a lot of strategy in drafting and organizing a team per week, and it really flexs your fantasy brains. I'm hoping ESPN announce that they will be running it next year, but if not - The sites called fantrax.com. It's fully customizable, so I can alter everything from points available per category to player positions to amount of transfers allowed

I'm gunna set a cap on maximum 12 teams entering for the sake of my own sanity. Any questions on formatting, or points scoring or anything can be answered here. Simmo has already registered an interest and will be helping me set up.

Bear in mind I'm trying this shit out for the Prem for the first time, so it could be completely nonapplicable - but I think it could work well. So please - register your interest below.

I have done this sort of thing before, in the early days of football(mid 90s when I was a young lad) so I would be up for it.

re: WC Fantasy Prem - Head to Head Style

Dammit, the title was meant to say WC Fantasy Prem - Head to Head Style. Oh well.

I've explored further, and it looks like I can set the scoring to match Fantasy Prem's scoring system (minus bonuses and penalty saves), I may raise clean sheet points up in order to make Defenders a bit more important - creating a more tactical drafting system.

Re: WC Fantasy Prem - Head to Head Style

So basically, let's forget all about the WC fantasy league that Ed's been boshing since August and is still top on? sounds like a great idea

Also, it's March, bit late to start a fantasy league with only 10 games left. If you want to use this as like the test run for next year, then I'll join.

EDIT - just read your first post again, ignore ^^^^ I'll defo join next season.

1541, currently got Foster, Ivanovic, Williams, Shawcross, Vertonghen, Hazard, Mata, Cazorla, Bale, Suarez, Van Persie (Bale,RVP and Williams just got drafted in)

Would have been higher if I didnt transfer Bale and Suarez out for Tevez and Dembele in the first window (Suarez came back in window 2 and Bale in window 3)

    Currently 2285 in overall standings
