As announced on TUF last night, Urijah Faber will be facing Renan Barao for the Interim Bantamweight title at UFC 148.

That should be a good fight. Looking forward to it. Like I mentioned before, it seems like Zuffa really really wants Faber to be a champion, seeing as how many tittle shots he's been given. But this isn't going to be an easy way to get there. At all.

With Renan Barao moved into the co-main event against Faber, Ivan Menjivar now faces Mike Easton.

    MMAJunkie

I think the odds slightly improve for Menjivar but I'm still favoring Easton in this one.

Claude Patrick versus James Head has been added to UFC 149

    MMAJunkie

Paul Tayler has had to pull out of his fight at UFC on Fuel 4 against Anthony Njokuani with an undisclosed injury. His replacement is apparently going to be Rafael Dos Anjos.

    MMAWeekly
    FightersOnly

Both Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier will have one last fight for Strikeforce before presumably making the move the UFC.

    Re: UFC fight announcement thread

Four new fights have been added to UFC on FOX 4:

    Mike Swick versus DaMarques Johnson
    Josh Grispi versus Pablo Garza
    Nam Phan versus Cole Miller
    Manny Gamburyan versus Michihiro Omigawa

The latest UFC on FOX 4 card now includes:

    Hector Lombard vs. Brian Stann
    Ryan Bader vs. Lyoto Machida
    Travis Browne vs. Ben Rothwell
    Terry Etim vs. Joe Lauzon
    Rob Broughton vs. Matt Mitrione
    Phil Davis vs. Chad Griggs
Phil De Fries vs. Oli Thompson
    DaMarques Johnson vs. Mike Swick
    Cole Miller vs. Nam Phan
    Pablo Garza vs. Josh Grispi
    Manny Gamburyan vs. Michihiro Omigawa

    MMAJunkie

I'd almost forgotten Swick existed because he's been out of the picture for so long. Swick is young enough and good enough that he should be able to get to gatekeeper-esque status and he should go into his fight against Johnson as the favorite.

    Re: UFC fight announcement thread

A number of fights have been added to the undercard of the live finale of this season of TUF and the card as it stands looks like this:

    MAIN CARD (FX)

    Jake Ellenberger vs. Martin Kampmann
"TUF" finalist No. 1 vs. finalist No. 2

    PRELIMINARY CARD (FUEL TV)

    Max Holloway vs. Pat Schilling
    Jonathan Brookins vs. Charles Oliveira
    Justin Lawrence vs. John Cofer
    Myles Jury vs. Chris Saunders
    Daron Cruickshank vs. Chris Tickle
    Cristiano Marcello vs. Sam Sicilia
    John Albert vs. Erik Perez
    Jeremy Larsen vs. Joe Proctor

    MMAJunkie

Damacio Page versus Alex "Bruce Leeroy" Caceres has been added to UFC on Fuel TV 4 and Rafael dos Anjos versus Anthony Njokuani and Nick Penner versus Tom DeBlass have been officially confirmed for the card as well.

    Re: UFC fight announcement thread

Quite a lot of the fights announced there sound like Loser leaves UFC fights. I can see the losers of Grispi/Garza, Phan/Miller and Gamburyan/Omigawa unfortunately being cut. Caceres vs Page also sounds that way. As for the TUF finale fights a few of them sound promising. However I will say that from the matchmaking it is obvious to me who the UFC expects to win each fight (I know you can't fix a fight but I mean having an Ideal winner I.E Mirko Cro Cop was supposed to beat Gonzaga at UFC 70). Very much expecting to see Lawrence, Jury, Cruickshank, Marcello and Proctor win their fights.

Vitor Belfort broke his hand and is out of the Silva fight.

    F4WOnline

UFC apparently have an opponent in mind to replace Belfort, but they're not saying anything about it until they've got it signed. I've heard speculation but nothing concrete.

At the post-UFC 146 presser, Dana White said that JDS/Velasquez II was most likely the next fight for JDS.

Rafaello Oliveira versus Yoislandy Izquierdo has been added to the undercard of UFC 148. This is likely one of those unofficial 'Loser Leaves UFC' matches, at least for Oliveira, who has already lost two in a row.

    Re: UFC fight announcement thread

Rich Franklin will be facing Wanderlei Silva at UFC 147

    MMAJunkie

Wagner Prado has replaced Chad Griggs against Phil Davis at UFC on FOX 4

    MMAWeekly

A couple of undercard fights for UFC on FX 4 (Guida vs. Maynard) have been changed. Brock Jardine replaces Papy Abedi to face Rick Story. Story has lost two straight and a loss here might see his job on the line. Brock only has one known name on his record of 9-1, Tony Ferguson, who won season 13 of TUF, and that fight was the only loss of Jardine's career so far. Interestingly, Abedi had lost his last two fights as well, both submission losses, so a loss here would almost certainly have seen him get let go. Matt Brown replaces Matt Riddle to take on Luis Ramos and Joey Gambino makes his UFC debut to replace Jimmy Hettes and he will be facing Steven Siler. Gambino is 9-0 but has no names on his record.

It looks like Patrick Cote will be replacing Rich Franklin to take on Cung Le

    MMAJunkie

Well, I guess Cote will be making a successful return to the UFC.

Thiago Silva is out of his fight with Mauricio Rua at UFC 149. The fight was offered to Glover Teixeira, who accepted, but Rua's people have outright refused the fight and want nothing to do with Teixeira

Not shocked. Texeira looks like a killer and he's honestly one of the top fighters who was still outside the UFC.

Glover is going to be one of those guys who they'll find it hard to find fights for. The name guys like Rua won't want to face him because he's tough enough and dangerous enough that he has reasonable chance of winning and even if they do win, Glover isn't enough of a name right now that beating him means a whole lot.

I can't blame Rua. Fighting small named but dangerous guys could fast track him to retirement. He wants the big names and the title shots so he can solidify his legendary status to an even further extent, not have his credibility shattered by an up and comer.

Glover isn't a top-level fighter just yet but he's close. If you can't beat him or don't think much of your chances, enough that you refuse to face him, then you're probably not becoming champion no matter how safely you pick your fights. More for the mental aspect than anything else.

    Re: UFC fight announcement thread

I don't believe in this "You have to know that you can win before the fight". Fighters don't like to admit it, but sometimes you just don't see many holes in your opponents game, or they are a great ground fighter and that's your main weakness and in training the defence isn't really working. When you walk into that cage or ring however, and you take you're first punch, everything goes out the window. Nerves and doubts go away. You're no longer thinking about winning or losing. You're in a closed enviroment with a guy looking to smash your face in, so you have to do it first.

Amir Khan doesn't want to fight Brook because it's a risk, but he wants to fight Mayweather for the world title. Everyone knows that Rua is still a great fighter who can beat the majority of the division. It's hard to see him beating Jones, but for example if Evans had beat him, a fight against Rua wouldnt be the most one sided affair you could see. All Rua needed was less experienced ref, and he'd have beaten Henderson, who in most peoples opinion is by far the biggest threat to Jones imaginable. Rua will be convinced that he can beat Jones if he gets the oppertunity, but fighting some low level rising star is a risk that would put that oppertunity in eternal jeprody.

Shogun's camp is claiming they never refused the Teixeira fight and that they're not even aware of Thiago Silva's injury yet.

Thiago Alves is out of his fight against Siyar Bahadurzada. A replacement has yet to be picked
