Re: Best Wrestler in North America Round 1: John Cena vs Triple H

I was actually going to nix the idea of this being discussed as Cena has wrestled WAY more than HHH but HHH's one match blew away Cena's top matches. I also believe Cena hasn't wrestled that many televised matches this year right? I haven't watched any Raw this year but from what I read from reports, he has done mostly segments and promos correct? If so then even if Cena has been consistently good, HHH may stand a fair chance. Do we also count promos and segments as well?

Re: Best Wrestler in North America Round 1: John Cena vs Triple H

It's more focused on ring work than anything else (obviously charisma is a big part of that) but I'd say take the total package into account. It's about who the best pro wrestler is and stuff like promos contribute a lot to being a great pro wrestler so sure, take them into account.

Sounds like you're clutching at straws for reasons to vote HHH though.

In answer to your question, no Cena hasn't wrestled a huge amount of TV matches this year. I believe he's been hurt or at least in need of a rest, so they didn't have him wrestle much at all in the build-up to Mania. He's had the Kane feud, a few random TV matches with guys like Henry and recently Tensai, the Rock match of course, and now the Lesnar match coming up.

I'm still going with Cena though because I thought while the HIAC was fantastic, it's not like it was just down to Triple H. It was more Taker than HHH if anything though both did really well in it. I'd say wrestling Rock when Rock hadn't wrestled a one on one match in 8 years and clearly gassed early is a much harder task, and his other stuff's been decent. Promo wise I've found Cena more entertaining than Triple H and I thought some of his mic work in the Rock feud was some of the best he's ever produced.

Re: Best Wrestler in North America Round 1: John Cena vs Triple H

I'll probably wait until this Lesnar match passes to give outcome to this match. If it rocks, I'll give this to Cena but if it sucks, HHH earns it. This sorta reminds me of a little dispute we had in the indy section in 2009. Bryan Danielson had been alright for a good portion of that year until his final countdown tour where he just went ham(I think this is what the kids say now and days). People were voting him over guys like Richards & Hero who were more consistent that year. Difference being is that while Richards and Hero had legions of high quality matches to back them, Cena only really has one(Vs The Rock). That one won't really hold up to well on it's own against Triple H/Taker. He also has some bad matches in that short stack of matches as well such as against Kane and Tensei(So I've heard anyway).

I'll wait for tomorrow to play out.

I'm going for Cena here. HHH had ONE good match. But that's it. Where as Cena had a fairly good match with Rock at Mania and has had reasonable matches elsewhere. Plus I expect him to put on a decent match tomorrow. I pick John Cena.

Yeah but he ruined that Rock match with his cockiness.

Yeah it did. But otherwise it wasn't a bad match at all.

I think I was the only guy who voted Triple H to be eliminated in the nominations (because of wrestling just once in 2012), so by default I've gotta go for John Cena.

Anyone else think Tommy has secretly given Cena an easy route to the finals?

They were drawn out of a hat, but it was a Cena hat so maybe it favoured him.

To be fair, he did have that ladder match against Nash and that tag match with Punk within the last 365 days, so I give him credit for those too.

Regardless, I'm voting Cena. But still.

Since were going with just in 2012 I'll give it to Cena.

I'm not taking anything away from Triple H and the match he had with Undertaker at Mania (my favorite match of the night), but that's all he's really done this year in terms of matches. Cena's had more matches this year, so yeah that's why he wins it here.

Strictly speaking, I probably should go with HHH since I've seen maybe one or two Cena matches I've enjoyed this year and neither were as good as HHH's match with Undertaker.

But I'll go with Cena by virtue of being an active wrestler.

Just wondering, would you guys vote Khali over HHH because he is more active?

No, because Khali hasn't had any good matches this year. Cena has.
