I still think Morata, Rudiger, Bakayoko, and keeping AC were great moves by Chelsea.

So, West Brom won the window? United in a close 2nd, possibly ahead of West Brom?

Also where the fuck is Riyad Mahrez . Seriously he's been missing since like 8am. Was told he could leave and yet seemingly no one made a bid

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

Chelsea's had such a weird window. Looking at who they added, it doesn't look bad at all. Some real quality there, especially with the late addition. But when you look at everything... its hard to view it as successful.

Morata could turn out to be a really good Prem player (i do like him) but he was second choice to Lukaku, who picked United over Chelsea. Ox turned down way more money to go to Liverpool. Ross Barkley walked away. Llorente chose Tottenham. They never could sell Diego Costa and now have to deal with a disruptive, unhappy player. The sale of Matic is still a bit head-scratching.

Taken in isolation, a player choosing another club isn't a damnation. Ox, for example, just seemed to be heart-set on Liverpool. But its the whole of them together. I do not get the impression that Conte is getting what he wants and that doesn't bode well for his long term future with the club.

A reminder that the Spanish window closes at midnight tonight therefore Costa and Coutinho can still happen.

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

Havne't seen much talk of movement, but good point Order. Saw a rumor last night that Barcelona had turned their attention to Ozil and Arsenal are willing to sell.

Man City are irate over the Sanchez deal collapsing. Utter unprofessional stupidity by Arsenal but don't think its exactly a lawsuit worthy one like they are talking. Best take I saw on it is that Arsenal are paying City 60m to loan Sanchez for the season lol. City aren't exactly blameless as, from what I gather, they never made an actual offer until the very end of the window. That was partly because Arsenal kept saying they wouldn't sell before that, but if you think you can land him, make the fucking offer.

For Gooners, the only real upside I can think of to this window is that is laid bare to the world just how fucking useless the entire internal structure of the club is. I've been bitching about our shit-stain majority shareholder and useless board for 2 years, and given up on the idea that Wenger has any sort of real plan or ability to progress the club a year ago. The perception of other football fans and media seemed to be mixed, with some still clinging to the idea that Wenger had a plan and it just wasn't working. Nope. No fucking plan. Flailing aimlessly and falling on his face. Its funny and odd that a window can be a massive failure even when you add 2 quality players, one of whom breaks the club's transfer record. Finishing 5th, claiming that as an anomaly and proclaiming that challenging for the title is still the goal, then turning a pretty significant profit in the transfer window means someone is fucking lying.

Listened to a podcast about the two primary Arsenal shareholders last night. Kroenke who is hated and Usmanov who hates Kroenke and wants to take over the club. Supporters hate Kroenke because he only cares about profit. Protesting his ownership is a waste - he just doesn't give a fuck. Sports are purely about profit to him. But Usmanov is a Putin croney and even worse in a lot of ways. I can't see the ownership situation changing in a positive way anytime soon.

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

Chelsea have a light squad but they've have had a good window with the signings of Morata, Bakayoko, Rudiger, Caballero, Zapacosta & Drinkwater. Surprised to see Barkley turning down the champions. Costa is still at Chelsea but could be sold in the January window.

Swansea have had a good window. Sanches and Bony signing for Swansea should keep them up comfortably. Sakho is a good signing for Palace. Mahrez is still at Leicester so he might be sold in January.

Arsenal have had a disastrous window. We needed to strengthen the most out of the top 6 clubs. The Manchester clubs went out early to address their problems. Chelsea have a light squad but they made six signings and their squad has improved. Spurs left it late but they made some good signings and their squad is a lot better than last season. Liverpool did decent business. Liverpool wanted £183m for Coutinho. Madness. He's not even worth £80m.

Everton had a great window, spent a lot and will be pushing for 6-7 spot.

Arsenal's window started off promising but after the Lacazette signing it all fell flat. Wenger promised 3 signings, overall we made 2. All lies from Wenger, we have money, then we don't. He should have sorted out all these players contracts. Man City to go back for Sanchez in January.

Wenger will now be like Sanchez, Ozil and Mustafi decided to stay, Wilshere and Chambers are back from their loans so that's like 5 extra new signings lol.
This was a opportunity for Wenger to go out and make a statement as he promised changes but he failed. Newly promoted Huddersfield spent more money than us.

We sold/loaned out lots of players but didn't add more. The squad looks weak. Arsenal revealed their 25 Man squad for this season. We didn't sell Debuchy and Akpom but they probably won't even get a game so I'm not including them part of the main squad. They need to be sold in January.

This is basically our main squad

    GK: Cech, Ospina
DF: Bellerin, Koscielny, Mustafi, Mertesacker, Holding, Kolanisac, Monreal, Chambers
MF: Xhaka, Elneny, Coquelin, Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, Walcott, Iwobi, Wilshere
    F: Lacazette, Sanchez, Giroud, Welbeck

Didn't include academy players: Bielik, Maitland Niles, Reiss Nelson and Reine-Adelaide. They might breakthrough this season.

We need many signings as our current squad is just not good enough to challenge for the title. It's not even good enough for top 4.

We need A RB to challenge Bellerin
2 CB (1 to replace Gabriel, another one to replace Mertesacker as he's leaving next season.
    DM to challenge Xhaka
CM: upgrade on Cazorla/Wilshere as they will probably play 5 games this season.
    RW: upgrade on Walcott

Next season we need a new GK, upgrade on Cech so we can then sell Ospina.

Not sure this is the best place for this... but have Liverpool won a match since they signed Oxlaide-Chamberlain? Asking for a friend....

Saw he got the worst rating on the pitch in yesterdays cup match loss against Leicester. His end product looked prototypically atrocious, from some GIFs. A well spent 40m so far. I will think he will perform better once he settles, but he's always been inconsistent. He put in performances like that too often for Arsenal, more than the performances where was a plus on the pitch or where he just did nothing. But it reinforces the question of why Wenger was so determined to keep hold of him and why Liverpool and Chelsea were so hot for him.

Bullet dodged. Zappacosta for nearly half the price was a much better option.

AOC could still come good. Klopp is likely to do a better job of developing him as a player than Wenger seems to be capable of anymore. And if his end product can improve, he could become a pretty good player. Right now, he's still all enthusiasm and head-down charging forward with the ball. But he's been that since he was 17. He is still young but its worrying how little improvement he has shown in that regard over the years.

But yeah, early returns is exactly why a lot of Arsenal supporters were not understanding the reluctance to let him go by the club and Wenger.
